Bridge not opening
I started having this problem on PS CS3 but have recently upgraded to CS4. When I open bridge by itself or through PS, nothing opens at all and I get the box saying it has encountered a problem and needs to close. What could be causing that? Also re-installed CS3 when I was using that, but did not fix error. Now that it's still happening in CS4, I see it's a problem with my computer.
This is an old thread, but I thought I would post a fix that worked for me. The reset procedure did not resolve the issue, and I believe the problem started after an Adobe Creative Suite up-date.
If anyone has a problem where downloading photos stops working, thought I would pass along the fix from Adobe that works.
The error code that appears is "c0000005: Adobe Photo Downloader has encountered a problem and needs to close." In several forums, and the first Tec response, is to start Bridge with the <Control Key> depressed, then reset preferences to default, and eliminate all thumbnails. This did not work.
The fix is to locate the photodownloader.exe file in the Bridge subdirectory, go to "Properties," click the "Compatibility" tab, click the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" box, then select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)", then "Apply", and "OK".
I am running Windows 7 on a home made Intel 7 box. The photo download had been working fine. I believe it stopped functioning correctly after an update to Design Premium CS4.

I purchased and downloaded Creative Cloud and several other programmes, The download seemed to work but Bridge will not open. It seemes to be listed in the Adobe files but will not open. When I did eventially get bridge to open it was the Cs5 version not CC. How can I solve the problem?

Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appears.
Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.

PS Bridge not opening my photos !!!
Two days ago I ran PS CC and used bridge to browse and open photos in camera raw. Now all of a sudden, when I try to open a raw file in Bridge I get the message "Bridge's parent application is not active. Bridge requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature." WTHell !!! Come on Adobe. You guys are brighter than this. This should never happen ! And the fact is that I've been a cloud member for over a year and all payments are current !!!!
Something might have glitched. Open Photoshop, Illustrator or even InDesign. Whatever apps you already have installed. Sign in if need be.

Bridge not opening; Error message beginning 0xc0000013.
Vista Ultimate 64bit.
Bridge has been acting up a bit over the last week. It has not been seeing folders. Sometimes, it has not been seeing anything listed in My Computer.
Now, I have just booted up and, when I clicked on the Bridge icon in the sysmtem tray, an error message window opened saying:
"Windows - No Disk
Exception Processing Message 0xc0000013 Parameters 0x000007FEFDC97240 0x0000000000000004 0x000007FEFDC97240 0x000007FEFDC97240"
If I click on Cancel, nothing happens. The window won't close. It won't even close via Task Manager. I have to force a reboot.
CS3 opens fine, as does any other program.
However, another problem I'm having at the same time (don't know if they're related, but for the sake of being informative!) is that when I plug in my card reader, the computer only sees cards from my Canon 1DsMklll, not cards from my Canon G9. Very, very odd.
Any ideas?

Just noticed that if I click on Continue (in the Error message window) the window closes. Now, if I click on the Bridge icon again, a window opens saying "Insert Disk. Please insert a disk into Removable Disk (J:)"
So, looks like some kind of conflict between Bridge and a disk. But, how to solve it?Sorted, I think.
Looks like the problem was with my Sandisk card reader. I tried to copy the images to another computer from the same card reader and got another error message.
I tried another card reader and there was no problem.
I then purged Bridge's cache (it opened this time!) and then rebooted. All seems well now.

CS6 Bridge not opening after updating...
I installed the latest update for Bridge and now it won't open. I am using Mountain Lion with 16GB of RAM. Photoshop CS6 still seems to be working fine .
I started getting a message at startup about Bridge encountering a problem and needing to purge the cach. I did that. Then for a while Bridge began to slow down dramtically... spiking as much as 500% power.
I went to the forums reading all I could... tried the holding down the option button and purging thingThen nothing...
I totally uninstalled CS6 and re-installed. Again Photshop seems to be fine. Again, can't opne Bridge.
Can't open Bridge on it's own or from Photoshop nor can I use Mini Bridge. I am at a loss and flailing here. I use Bridge hours everyday.
I can of course see that it is a bad access - invalid adress message but have no idea how to correct that.

Not many here can read or understand crash reports I'm afraid.
Still not on Mountain Lion ( got the last MacPro before the first that supports M.Lion and eager waiting for the new MacPro to come next year)
However try this:
Quit Bridge and go to your user library (if you don't see your user library in your home - user - account do a Google search for how to reveal your hidden user library)
Then from user (your name) / library/preferences find and delete manually the plist file for Bridge (com.adobe.bridge5.plist) by dragging it to the trash. You can forget about the duplicate with .lockfile, just leave it there.
Then in the same library go to the folder Caches / Adobe/ Bridge CS6 and inhere find both the cache file and plug in. Also drag these two files to the trash. (all those files recreate themselves with fresh, new and empty folders for cache after restarting Bridge)
Hold down option key while restarting bridge and choose reset preferences and try again.
Mind you, when deleting the Cache file manual all your previous cache data will be gone but that would also be the case if the ability with option button would work.
So first you have to recache your files again for thumbnails and HQ previews. This will take some time depending on amount and filesize but you can do so overnight if you have a lot to cache, otherwise it is just a small delay. -
Bridge not opening Camera Raw -- Opens in PS instead?
I am trying to open files in Bridge using Camera Raw. I have checked "Double Click Edits Camera Raw Settings In Bridge", but double clicking instead opens photoshop and then opens camera raw from photoshop. I looked under file type associations and under NEF the default application was photoshop, so I thought, I will get it to open in ACR, but there doesn't appear to be an option to select that.
How do I get my files to open in ACR in bridge?
I just found that if I tried to edit ACR options it said the 'not enabled, qualifying product' messageI use CTRL R to open in Camera Raw with out opening Photoshop.

Bridge not opening after install
Just downloaded Bridge, LR5 and PSCC. When trying to open Bridge, get error message 'could not complete operation'. Other downloads seem to open fine. Using MacBook Pro, new, with Maverick 10.9.1. What to do?

I upgraded to CS5 last week and I'm having a problem with processing some RAW files. If I select ALL the images in a folder in Bridge and right click to open in ACR it doesn't open ALL the images - there are missing images and I cannot for the life of me figure out why it won't open these images up. I've also tried to select one of those omitted images in Bridge and right click to open up in ACR it still won't open it but if I double click it'll open it in ACR but only via PS. I don't get why it won't open some files especially as they're shot with exactly the same camera - any ideas or has anyone else noticed this happening? Thanks in advance!

Make sure you have renamed the files correctly, i.e. with the appropriate three-letter extension and with no illegal characters in the file name.
If the files are correctly labeled, you might want to purge the cache for the folder through the Tools menu in Bridge.

Before I installed CS6, I removed CS6 Beta and my copy of CS5 using tools provided by Adobe. When I run Bridge, I notice that for each of the Open With apps shown, they are listed twice.
When I choose a jpeg or raw photo it opens with no problem, but when I open a PNG, I have to choose open with since my Mac will open it in PREVIEW. When I choose open with PS, it loads and opens a second Photoshop even though I have it open already. Any suggestions?Check to make sure you are opening in the same program as the one open. You said you unistalled CS5, but perhaps it is opening in CS6 32 bit?
Check the file associations in Bridge preferences to see what default program is to open with. -
I'm trying to download CS6 I keep getting a window that says I need to close Bridge. Bridge not open
I cannot download CS6 because I keep getting a window popping up saying I need to close Bridge. Bridge is already closed. How do I get around this? Do I need to remove bridge altogether from my computer?

Adobe Bridge CS3 not opening Photoshop Image Processor
I selected one, four, and multiple pictures in Bridge to reduce the file size of jpgs. I went to Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor. Nothing happened. Photoshop did not open. That got me to thinking that sometimes while I am in Photoshop Bridge won't open either. Any ideas on resolving issue of "Bridge not opening Photoshop Image Processor" would be greatly appreciated.
Hello Curt Y, Everything is checked in the "Startup Scripts," including Bridge (twice) and Photoshop (twice). Not sure why duplicate entries but there are.
If you mean that you have two of the same versions (both CS3) in there that indicates there is something wrong with your install
If you have any suggestions regarding being able to access the Image Processor to resize pictures and such without first opening Photoshop, I'd greatly appreciate it. If not, the work around will have to suffice.
My first goal would be to reset the preferences for both PS and Bridge and then try again

Bridge does not open camera raw files
I am having this issue with the bridge not opening cr2 files in acr. I have a new mac and installed CS6 with 7,4 acr. Has anyone come up with a solution to this bug?
The error message is :
camera raw editing is not enabled camera raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched once to enable this feature
I really would prefer to not uninstall this product and it is not the case that I have another trial copy. I have searched my computer and cannot find any.
Thanks for any new ideas on this bug.I noticed that there are still adobe folders for photoshop and premiere on the computer. Should I just delete those folders?
Use Easy Find (Devon) and run Adobe in search field. From the list select the folders that you have doubt about and choose Show in finder option. Then look at the content. If it are custom settings like actions, tools, brushes best keep them save.
But to be totally on the save side select all search result and copy them to a separate disk as Back Up so you can always find some lost customized settings back. All other deleted files should be reinstalled as per new install on new disk.
I would like to get it right this time. I was also wondering if I can still download the dmg directly from adobe or is that not available anymore.
If you have bought a download version of the Master Collection for CS6 then their should be a possibility to download it again using your Adobe ID. The new CC can be downloaded again using ACC.
Otherwise you have to contact Adobe customer support for a new copy or download. -
I am trying to update Adobe Bridge and Photoshop CS6, because it is not opening my CR2 files taken by my Canon 6D. I have tried to go to help > updates, and the software says that it is "Up to Date". However, if I view the plug-in, it says that Camera Raw is only version 7.1. I can not find a direct download for Camera Raw 7.3, only the DNG converter, NOT CAMERA RAW! Please Help!
