Bridge PDF Presentaion

Anyone know how I can get back my PhotoShop PDF Presentation in Bridge CS4? Bridge CS3 let me make a PDF presentation via PhotoShop that was way better than CS4.
The new interface to generate PDF's sucks as it really doesn't compress the files like the older CS3 Bridge & PS did. I have 32 NEF's all around 25 MB in size. Using CS3 I can get a PDF generated around 4 MB. In CS4 it is 13.7 MB and the images were not as big.

"Scott, If you mean the option to convert the color profile to another customized one, it is not possible in Output workspace. "
No, that's not what I mean. In the prior version there was the option to chose a destination colorspace, and also the option to apply the profile of the destination space. I knew exactly what I was getting, a conversion with a profile embedded. So I was asking if Output would not only convert to sRGB but also embed the sRGB profile.
But as I reread the handling of CS4 I'm just still confused.
"You could define whether or not to convert to sRGB at Output workspace. Just go to Bridge->Preferences->Output and uncheck the 'Preserve Embedded Color Profile". By default, it was unchecked. You could give a double check. If Output didn't preserve embedded color profile, it will covert all the image color profile to sRGB. This apply to PDF and Web Gallery."
"preserve embedded profile" says nothing about a conversion, and unchecking it would imply that *if* a conversion is applied (are we sure there is a conversion and not just a stripping of the profile) the document would be left without an embedded profile.
It's all so vague and lacking control - an absolute downgrade from the prior version -leaving me to assume Adobe has little regard for color management.

  • Help needed with Bridge PDF Output Module

    Hi:
I posted this in the Photoshop forum but got no replies except to try here. I created a PDF presentation with 34 jpg images which I want to send to a publisher by using the PDF output module in Bridge. the images have the sRGB color profile embedded in them and the colors look vibrant when the jpgs are viewed in CS 4. However the PDF that opens in Adobe Reader shows the colors looking very dull. Is there a way to view the PDF in CS 4 or a way to make them appear as they should in Adobe Reader? Maybe Adobe Reader has no color management capabilities, I don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Bridge PDFs show Illustrator files "fuzzy"

When I use Bridge to manage Illustrator Files I sometimes want to output a selection of those drawings as a composite PDF via the "Output" feature.
When I do this, the PDFs are always soft, or stair-steppy, and don't reflect the smooth vector nature of the Illustrator file.
I've selected the highest quality settings for the PDF production in the Bridge menu.
Is correcting this a matter of making changes in Illustrator or in Bridge? Or is it not fixable?
I'm using Bridge in CS5 and Illustrator CS5 (Mac OS 10.6).

Thanks so much for your help, I didn't know any of those things. Very interesting.
In regards to Photoshop rasterizing PDFs, what exactly are the ramifications of that? A PDF-X saved from Photoshop is still fine to send to the print press, right?
So far, all the print work I do I design in the colour space specified by my printer, then save as a PDF-X1a (which is also what they specify), by doing 'Save As' in Illlustrator. I also name the file with the colour space, and my printer has not had any problems with this.
The reason I'm asking about colour management, is that I may start expanding into the area of designing adverts for newspapers and magazines, and this involves different colour spaces. And newspapers etc. around here won't be as fussy about colour management as my print-press, which is a very good print company. So it would be better if I knew they were getting PDFs from me with embedded colour profiles.
I think the situation is that when I save things with embedded profiles, that it does in fact work, despite what Bridge, Illustrator and InDesign say. I have .ai files that show up in Bridge as untagged, but when opened in Illustrator, do indeed have an embedded colour profile.
It's very confusing to know what's going on.
A rather non-technical workaround, which alot of people seem to use, is just designing the file in the correct colour space, saving the file in that colour space, naming the file with that colour space, and then when it gets to the printer/magazine/newspaper etc. hoping that (A) there is colour profile data in the file that people can see at the destination or (B) the people at the destination know from the file name that you designed it in the correct space, and so they just Assign Profile at their end, and all is well.
I mean, what's the alternative, I can't suddenly stop using Illustrator and InDesign, and doing ALL my work in Photoshop, just because of what Bridge says!

  • Bridge PDF output

When I use the new CS4 pdf output function from Bridge my images are rasterized and low-res even if I select the "high" quality option. I am creating contact sheets from .ai files so they should be crisp and clear, but no matter what I do they are fuzzy and low res.
Has anyone else noticed this? Any possible fixes?

Due to the fact you have the choice of high quality means you did not
updated the Adobe Output Module to the latest version.
    First try the update:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3813
and if your problem persists also try to purge cache for folder using the
Menu Tools / Cache / Purge cache for folder

I have synced my color settings on the Creative Suite, and is set to Keep the tick in beteen color profile.
HOW and WHERE can I set the color profile for the BRIDGE PDF. I use Adobe Acrobat X Pro.
    Maybe someone knows the solution.

    thanks for your answer!
I have made your settings but I still get the error message.

  • Illustrator Default PDF, if open in Acro Pro, drag and drop other .ai files, will they also....

Hi! I'm trying to archive (for myself and others for easy access) about 50 fairly complex .ai files in a single Illustrator Default PDF and maintain editability and preserve layer and grouping integrity for every separate file, and, i'm probably going to have to do this hundreds of times (at least!) in the future. Once i save the initial first pdf file through Illustrator (wish didn't even have to do this, but seems no way to do in Bridge), then open the resulting pdf w Acrobat Pro, can i then just select an entire folder's worth of ai files in Bridge, drag and drop them into the pages panel and still have the dragged and dropped files also preserve all their AI info and layer/ group integrity? An if not, thinking if not based on 20 similar experiments, what's a fast way to do this. Doing this manually each time: opening each file in AI then saving as AI pdf, then combining and arranging them all after the fact, would be, well, fairly effed in terms of time, carpal tunnel, arthritis etc. Experimented w Bridge PDF Output batching (terrible rasterized lo-res results, but great for its intended purpose) and just dragging and dropping into Acrobat (lose complicated layer names and info, all flattened to single layer). Any help most appreciated, and as i do not have regular access to das interwebs  (i live on a boat) would appreciate and heed gentle admonishment if i've misposted or broached any community etiquette here. I've researched this as well as i can but can't find anything efficient/ elegant not involving InDesign, and even then the details are skimpy. Thank You! Getting mentally exhausted and not a little loopy. Keep in mind had to teach myself both Illustrator, Acrobat etc with access to the very limited offline help menus (the boat), so a complex answer involving learning InDesign would be learning curve can't even imagine with everything else struggling to do. But if you're willing to babystep diagram it out for me or can find me a link that does i will not only be eternally grateful but will do my durndest to master it and pass it on....Thanks Again! lil mc szpf
PS If it helps I'm running the diligent dogged dusty beloved workhorse CS4 Design Premium on 27" monitor 2010 Mac (OS X 10.6.8), and took advantage of rare housesitting net access to install all most recent updates of everything, i'm barely competent w AI, PS, BR and been tackling Acrobat for past couple of months now....

im glad that somebody is atleast trying. perhaps i need to be more clear.
i will step by step describe the issue in detail.
    1) i open an email that contains an attachment .dxf or .pdf
    2) i click on the attachment shown in the email and aprompt comes up asking if i want to open or save the attachment.
    3) i select save. (by default it saves to a downloads folder. but i have also chosen to use other folders (when i did that it wouldnt save them)
    4) i highlight the downloads arrow on the right top side of my browser and click it
    5) it pulls down a list of the files that i USED to be able to click and drag onto my destop, or anyplace i chose
    6) used to be when i clicked and held the left mouse button down on top of a file of my choosing it would highlight and as i began to drag, a ghost image would appear of the file i was dragging. showing a (/) symbol next to it showing i couldnt drop the file within the browser and a + simbol showing that i could drop the file when the file was hovering over a place where i could drop the file such as my desktop or other folder. now, when i click and hold on the file.... I DONT get anything. when i drag. nothing follows. while i am "dragging" in the area that is my browser, i get the pointy finger icon. as soon as i enter an area where i could have dropped the file as before, i get my standard cursor arrow.
its really as if the drag and drop feature just dosent work IN FIREFOX.
i can drag and drop files all day long everyplace else.

  • Trouble creating grayscale PDF

    Hi!
I have a bunch of grayscale PDS-files, dot grain 20%, that I need to make into a grayscale PDF. This has proven more difficult than I expected. I did a PDF from Bridge with "Output"-"preserve embedded color profile" checked, but it seems that didn't do much. The printing place said it reads like a colour PDF.
Then I tried Acrobat Pro, first to make a new PDF file from my  images, and then to convert my earlier Bridge-PDF using "Preflight" - "convert colour to grayscale". That made the images low resolution and dark. The file size went down from Bridge's 140 MB to 45 MB.
Finally I gave InDesign a shot, but I lack the skills to do much with it.. If I put some effort into learning InDesign, will I be able to export one single PDF-file, with the original (or close to it) resolution and tone values, and with a grayscale colour profile?

Thanks for the quick response! They are Photoshop files, saved in Photoshop format. I have also saved the images as hi-res JPEGs with colour profile "dot grain 20%" and tried to do a PDF from those in Acrobat, same problem=dark, low-res, pixellated.
I'm using MacOS 10.6.8 for Acrobat XI, Bridge CS5 and Photoshop CS5, and have access to a PC laptop with InDesign CS6 on it.

  • Missing bridge startup scripts

In bridge CS4 I am trying to use the Output feature to create a PDF contact sheet. However, when I click on that, I get a new workspace but I get no features in the output panel, it's blank. In reading the bridge PDF help manual, it says that one should use the Adobe Output Module script to do this: "If the Output workspace is not listed, select Adobe Output Module in Startup Scripts preferences." However, when I go to Preferences, Startup Scripts, and select "reveal scripts" there are no scripts shown at all.
Where can I find them? Is this also why when I select the "Tools" menu item, there is no "Photomerge" choice?

I have gone to Bridge->Preferences->Startup script panel. The Adobe Output Module is not listed. In fact, there is nothing listed in the panel.
I have installed Photoshop CS4 but the photomerge options do not appear on the Tools->Photoshop menu of Bridge as they did in CS3. The only choices that appear are "Batch rename", 4 Metadata items, and "Cache".

  • CS6 PDF Output - Custom Template?

I recently installed the windows version of CS6 Bridge.  I would like to create a custom template for pdf output.  However there is no "Custom" box in Template drop down box and the new template and recycle bin icons do not function.  What do I need to create and save custom template in Bridge pdf output?

After tweaking almost every panel in the PDF output settings, I'd like to save those settings to reuse with other PDF contact sheets I'll be creating in the future. How do I do that? As soon as I tweak a setting, the Preset changes to Custom, and as soon as I select a different preset, the entire Custom entry is deleted from the dropdown menu.

While the Output Module of Bridge is a good idea it is not "ready for prime time" in either of the two functional areas.
I guess that's why they left the old-style methods available on the installation disk.
Just another casualty of the "Rush it out to meet a deadline" policy.

  • Bring 'PDF Presentation' Back in CS4

There are several posts about how this simple script was a huge part of folk's daily workflow. I am one of those folks. Bring back the 'PDF Presentation' script. Your Bridge Output module is for entry level users, not for production level processing, and to add InDesign as a step in the 'recipe' to modify compression, Acrobat version compatibility, security, etc. is a true pain in the ***. Adobe, I hope you're listening.
    See comments on:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/10/where_did_extra.html
According to John Nack, the development team had to "comb through older features and determine whether it's worth investing in modernizing them, or whether the time would be better spent elsewhere."
"PDF Presentation have been replaced by the new Output module in Bridge CS4...PDF Presentation no longer works in CS4."
"We felt that you'd get a better experience from Bridge, where you can see multiple images, lay them out in whatever order you'd like, preview the output, etc. It therefore wasn't worth investing additional resources in porting PDF Presentation to 64-bit and making other architectural changes that are now underway. --J."

    > "PDF Presentation have been replaced by the new Output module in Bridge CS4...PDF Presentation no longer works in CS4."
The Bridge PDF AOM is just a bunch of JavaScript that creates UI in Bridge and
loads and calls an External Object/library to do the actual processing. Unless
they did something to the PDF AOM that makes it only work in Bridge, you could
write a script for PSCS4 the creates a UI and uses the PDF AOM as is done in
Bridge. Or it could call a Bridge script that does the AOM integration.
This is all theoretical, of course. I looked at this a couple of months ago
because I have a client (still on CS3) that uses PDF Presentation. I'll have to
get this sorted out one way or another when they get ready to upgrade.

  • Bridge Batch problem - desperate - please help!!

I have a macos 10.4.11 G5 Mac and I'm running Creative Suite CS2 - I used to always be able to select images in bridge go to - Tools - Photoshop - Contact Sheet II - and the window would come up fine - the last couple of days when I try to do that it gives me the error message of "General Photoshop Error" - I really need for it to work for the project I'm doing - just limping along now.
Thank you in advance for your help
It gives me the same error for the photoshop processes in bridge (PDF, Batch etc...!
and also for the indesign - says it can't find the paths - I've already reset the bridge preferences!
    and Dr. Brown's stuff also.
***If i'm in photoshop and go to file - automate - contact sheet II - it will work but the "selected images from bridge is greyed out!

For refreshing PS prefs hold down cmd + Option + Shift while restarting PS
    and choose refresh preferences.
For plist, quit both applications and go to the user library preferences
folder and look for both PS and Bridge plist files.
I would advice to first of all try the PS prefs and then after checking each
time delete the plist file for Bridge and last PS.
Without knowing if you have the opportunity for it consider an upgrade to
CS4. Bridge CS4 is way better then the CS2 version and also PS has a large
    number of improvements
Final, check if you have the latest updates for CS2 and Bridge. I don't know
the correct numbers anymore but Bridge should be at least 1.02, that was a
    significant update.
MAC OS 10.4.11 running CS2 - could you please help me locate the plist files
I'm supposed to delete for both of them - and about refreshing the preferences
for photoshop. Thank you so much for your prompt response.

  • Automate - presentation in photoshop CS4

    Hi all,
Hoping someone can help! I use photoshop CS3 still in college but have bought photoshop CS4 for home. In college we have been taught to use automate to create presentations or digital portfolios. In the CS3 menu under automate there is an option for presentation however, in the CS4 version it just isn't there. Does anyone know of any way I can update CS4 to get this or is it due to me buying the student edition? I didn't think this would be the case since I was lead to believe that as a student I would have the exact same software.
Any help would be great thanks.
    Scatty

If you mean PDF Presentaion, this has been removed from CS4 and this fuctionallity has been transfered to the Output module in Bridge.
