Bridge Prerelease Program Openings

Bridge Customers,
We are looking for a few interested Adobe Bridge users to join our Prerelease Program. We need customers who use Bridge in their workflow regularly and want to provide constructive feedback to the Bridge team on monthly prerelease builds of Bridge. If you are interested, please complete the prerelease request form located at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=prerelease_interest (be sure to select 'Adobe Bridge' from the product list).
Note: A non-disclosure agreement will be required and space is limited, so unfortunately we won't be able to accept all who apply.
Thanks for your interest in Adobe Bridge!
Julie Manley
Adobe Bridge Team

Hi Julie,
Out of sheer curiosity, can you confirm whether this refers to "monthly pre-release builds of Bridge" 3.x to ship with Photoshop CS4 rather than fixes to the current bug-ridden 2.1.1.9?
If the latter, it would be of great interest. If the former, it's a moot point as I will not be upgrading if 2.x doesn't get fixed.

    Hi DaLy
Sure, I'll be happy to try. However, all I really know about
it is what has been relayed to me over the years. I have no idea as
to how accurate it is or isn't.
I've been told that because Adobe (and formerly Macromedia)
are publicly traded companies, they have to be extra careful in
divulging any information that could impact the sales of their
stock. However, I balance this with the fact we regularly see
Microsoft (Who, unless I'm mistaken is also publicly traded)
    divulgiing assorted features and whatnot.
I've also heard from time to time that it's more of a
"competitive edge" thing. Where if Company A divulges features in
progress, competitors may be able to somehow use this against
Company A by bringing their own software to market sooner wth the
    features in place.
So I have to look at this and rather assume it simply comes
    down to the company choice.

  • BrowserLab Prerelease program starting soon

    Hello everyone,
My name is Bruce Bowman, and I’m the new BrowserLab product manager. I wanted to introduce myself and let you know that we’re going to be starting a Prerelease program for BrowserLab pretty soon. If you’d like to participate and help us test new features, then shoot me an email at [email protected] We’ll then send you a short screener questionnaire and go from there.
To be included you’ll need to be able to spend at least a couple of hours a week to test the new version, and be willing to file detailed bug reports on any issues that you find.
    Regards,
    Bruce

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
The option which you want will only works if you are connecting to a terminal\RDS server. If an initial starting program has been specified, it will be the only program that the user can use in the Remote Desktop Services session. Specifying an initial program
to run does not apply to a RemoteApp session.

  • End of Prerelease program

With the imminent close of the prerelease program Adobe has suggested that future comments be on this public forum.
Part of my recent message to Adobe
Adobe has told us that ADPS is not a shrink-wrapped product but one in continuous development. Continuous development requires continuous feedback from users, that surely is a given.
There is still a great deal of misapprehension about the entire ADPS package (witness both forums), not simply the functionality but the entire publishing process including the pricing.
My suggestion given the unique continuous development process of APDS is for the prerelease forum to regenerate as the Continuous Development Tester Group. Adobe should encourage back some of the earlier contributors whose voices have been quiet lately. This would be an efficient way for Adobe to improve the product. What do you say?
    Quote from Adobe:
“Given that the prerelease program is slowly winding down  the DPS prerelease forums will remain open from September 1 through September 29, but for read only purposes.  After September 1,  testers will no longer be able to create a new thread or post a response to an existing thread.  After September 29, the Digital Publishing Suite forums will be closed.”
Lynly Schambers, Marketing, Digital Publishing Suite
    My response:
With all due respect Lynly the marketing department is not best suited to answer my comments. But as you did let me tell you that the launch of ADPS has been appalling and it still doesn't work properly. In many areas the functionality is inadequate and feature requests that would improve the product are kicked into the long grass.
Just look at what users are saying, are they congratulating Adobe on a successful launch? No they/we are complaining because ADPS has been poorly thought through and clumsily implemented. Many of us see ADPS as a second rate product and one that sullies Adobe's hitherto excellent reputation.
Am I being too harsh, let’s see what others have to say?

    Hi Graham
I can't think of any other company that has such an effective prerelease program ever before. Yes DPS is being continuously updated, but as it stands, it allows users like me to create excellent Apps, right now, at this very moment. So, yes I've paid for the licence. If in the coming months it gets better then great, if they sort out some of the gremlins and workarounds, even better.
I really think it's now time to let go of your requests for a seamingly never ending request for a free ride. DPS is not perfect, possibly not by a long way, BUT it works, a works pretty well once you know the constraints. I've not had anyone look at any of my Apps and say, oh! thats crap.
Sorry to be blunt, but you asked for other peoples opinions!
    Cheers
    Alistair

  • Technical Communication Suite 2 Prerelease Program

    Hello,
Does anyone know if a Technical Communication Suite 2
Prerelease program has been announced? I haven't found anything
about it on the website. I understand that anyone who might have
been invited to participate in it has signed a confidentiality
agreement, but all I am trying to find out is whether such a
program is available, and if Adobe's website has any
    nonconfidential information about it.
    Thanks,

    Hi Andrea.
It is the way with these things that as soon as a new product
release is announced that every forum and blog in cyberspace will
be red hot with details of it. Until this time you are VERY
unlikely to see any details of it. Not least because those that do
know a bit are sworn to secrecy under pain of having their source
files and backups thrashed in front of them

  • Bridge slow to open folders with many files

Running Bridge CS3 on XP with 2GB of RAM, if I attempt to open a folder with, say, 80 or more RAW files, each about 6-7 MB, Bridge takes 20 minutes or more, or maybe even locks up. But if I split the folder into two subfolders, each with no more than 40 files, Bridge opens them up one at a time relatively quickly. Have others experienced this, and is it simply a limitation of Bridge or do I need more memory or processing power?

    Hi Michael.
That depends on when you are referring to. When you import files into Bridge the program first sorts the files into the order specified in the 'Filter' panel. Next it creates the image thumbnails - this can take a considerable time if you have 'High Quality Thumbnails' ticked in Bridge Preferences, as Bridge then has to create it's own colour managed thumbnails rather than use the ones embedded in the imported files. The time to create the high quality thumbnails is also increased when indexing RAW images, as they contain more data.
Once the initial indexing and creation of thumbnails is complete for the folder then subsequent openings of the folder should be much faster.
If you have a folder containing several hundreds of images this initial indexing can be a pain, so I usually go off and do something else.
BTW, if you interrupt Bridge while it's going through this initial indexing of a folder then it will attempt to resume next time the folder is accessed, so it's better to let it finish and get it over with - you can tell where Bridge has got to by the '%' indicator at the bottom left of Bridge.

  • How can I prevent Bridge from altering my photos?

    HELP!!!
Within the past few days my Bridge CS4 program has been making my life miserable. I had been utilizing the program to batch photos from my extensive photo library, rename them, sort them (i.e., change sort/ordinal number), and the like without any difficulty and then suddenly, after executing such processes my thumbnails turned completely white and would not open in Bridge, Photoshop CS4 Extended - much less anything else. I tried reopening them as .jpg's, .psd's, .tiff's to no avail. I went into properties on each photo and checked the "open with" tab, and it noted that the photo was not recognized. I had some moderate success opening them with Quicktime Picture Viewer, but converting them back to a Bridge readable format (i.e., their original state) proved impossible. Having noticed that Quicktime had hijacked nearly my entire photo opening process, I uninstalled it in the hope that it would solve the problem. It didn't. I then went into Bridge and Photoshop CS4 preferences to try and modify how photos were opened, and couldn't seem to find anything applicable. I did, however, increase the memory and cache allocated to each program substantially.
Last night I ran into more problems with Bridge. While scanning both photo negatives and prints into Bridge and saving them into various files, I encountered the same problem indicated in paragraph one. I tried scanning several of them a second time and succeeded; however, I had to save them to a different file and give them dissimilar names in .tiff format. In the process I found more than a dozen ways to spell "Mexico," "Tokyo," and "Ukraine"! They would not save as .jpg's or .psd's.
I use Windows Vista Home Premium SP1, have a Pentium 4 Dual Core (2.8) processor, 4 GB Memory, Nvidia GE Force 7600 video card (yes, the drivers are up to date), and Hewlett Packard Photosmart C7180 and C7280 printers for scanning. All of the photos involved are stored on a Maxtor One Touch 1TB Turbo auxillary hard drive.
Also, could anyone suggest how I can get the  SD/MMC card reader on my PC to work?
Thanks to any and all for assisting me with my problem.
    Wolfgang Holst

Thank you curt y for your quick response. I have seen your recommendations on the adobe forums link in the past and many of your solutions
seem to have helped other people with Bridge problems. I took your suggestion and gave it a whirl - all preferences were restored to defaults - and the problem continues. I get the feeling the problems lies with the program's interaction with Windows.
Having tried a few more things, I've found that I can move the photo shell (the inscription underneath the thumbnail states, "Window Shell Common") to my desktop and open it there with Photoshop (i.e., going through the song and dance of "open with" and clicking on the CS4 icon, where it opens up in RAW). I must then move it over to Photoshop CS4 and save it as a .jpg or a .psd. Unfortunately, after all this it still won't open in Bridge. By all appearances, Bridge somehow has become corrupted and I'm probably going to have to do a complete Photoshop CS4 uninstall and reinstall.
I've spent hundreds - if not thousands - of hours scanning into my system some 10,000 photographs of my travels (yes, they are backed up on discs), and Bridge should not be negatively impacting my ability to organize and manipulation them as is happening now. If the uninstall/reinstall does not resolve the problem, I'll be back on this forum for more suggestions.
As for the card reader issue, I'm well aware of the 2GB/over 2GB issue. I typically use a 4GB or more card in my camera. I can download fine through my HP 7180 and 7280 card readers, but my HP 1518n card reader is a different story. I'll work a little more on it, too.
    Thanks again.

Have you tried resetting your preferences by holding down the Ctrl key and starting Bridge?  You will get a reset window, choose all 3 options.
The only thing I know about card readers is that there are 2 versions.  One for cards of 2 gigs or less, and one for HD cards over 2 gigs.  Make sure card and reader match.

  • CS3 Bridge crashes when uploading an Adobe Media Gallery

Each time I try to upload an Adobe Media Gallery directly from Bridge, the program crashes, without uploading anything. My FTP info is correct. Ive tried restarting my computer as well as trying out different FTP's to make sure that isn't the problem.
I can create galleries and save them to my computer, but I'd much rather upload them directly from Bridge.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

I tried holding the ctrl buttom, the preferences reset, or any other window, would not launch. i tried the cnrl/shift/alt buttons, this did not work. i tried launching from quick start button, from the explorer exe, and still not able to get this to work. i even tried a few weeks back to uninstall and reinstall, but did not seem to work, i gave up until need it open now...
are there any other tricks anyone has had luck with to get the preferences window to work?

  • I can't run adobe bridge cs6.  Weeks trying to get Adobe support - no help

I read something about people using cc being able to move a folder from common files to the bridge folder and that fixed their problem.  Not so lucky on my end.
It's been 4 weeks, something like the equivalent of 5 - 7 DAYS on hold, never reaching anyone who actually knew how to fix this.
I had cs6 properly installed for a couple of weeks on my win7 desktop and my win8 laptop (both 64 bit).  Then out of the blue, bridge just stopped working.
Although I've done everything I've been told -- uninstalled, run cc cleaner from adobe, reinstalled. Done that multiple times, and once through every folder on the computer to eliminate adobe stuff, then reinstalled and no luck.  Tried moving the folder, no luck.
Bridge won't even load - it just gives me an error message and there's no way I can load it.  Adobe insisted that I create a new admin and install PS and BR there.  It did work, but did not allow me to use my main login and run bridge.  So If I want to use bridge + a program other than a CS6 program, I couldn't do it.  No help whatsoever.
Please help.  I've gotten the case escalated, but adobe never calls or if they do call (they tried once or twice), they don't leave a phone number and they usually call outside the hours you suggest are the best for reaching you.  I keep having to start at the beginning, with the low level techies, and after several hours, I can get them to take my number and schedule a call with the escalation / senior team.
I want the CEO or someone to realize how badly they are abusing their "customers".  BUT right now I need to get some work done.  I don't want to invest the time to set colors for my monitor or do any customization because they'll just ask me to wipe it again anyway.

    Hi,
I don't know why there's a problem seeing the content of my original post, but I am logged into the forum, not using email.
When I try to launch bridge, I get an error message that says "Adobe Bridge CS6 stopped working" and the following details:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name:          APPCRASH
      Application Name:          Bridge.exe

Of course, Bridge never actually launches.
As far as the fact that some setting on my computer is incorrect, I'd love to find that magic switch to fix it, but remember that this happened after Bridge was properly installed and working for a couple of weeks after my purchase, and it died on BOTH my win7 desktop and my win8 laptop.  Different OS, different hardware, both Dell and both 64 bit.
I've been very careful about having administrator privileges on both computers, and to my knowledge, I didn't install anything new between the time I installed CS6 and the time Bridge died.  I'm very slow to update windows, after it wiped my partition and nearly cost me all my data and photos...  I research like crazy, and I don't understand this.  But I use photoshop and illustrator in combination with other programs so I can't have a situation where I can't be logged in as me using bridge.
Please give me your thoughts - any hints are appreciated...  fyi - adobe low level phone tech support has been playing hold music for the last 194 minutes.
    Thanks!
