Bridge/PS Cannot Read RW2 Converted to dng.

I have Windows XP (it's a work PC and company policy to stick with XP). Bridge v2.1.1.9, DNG Converter v5.7.0.213, PS CS3 Extended  v10.0.1.
Neither PS or Bridge can read my Panasonic RW2 files. I downloaded the latest version of DNG Converter and converted the RW2 files to DNG, which worked without error. Cannot open these DNG files in Bridge or PS. They appear as icons only, no preview icons.
Can anyone help. Don't know what else to do.
Thanks
Steve Bruhn.

If clearing the cache doesn't work, the next step would be to trash your Bridge and PS preferences. But this would be predicated on being sure that the camera is in fact supported by the current release of the DNG converter, and that the files converted error free. But unless there was a problem with the converter itself, you should have seen error messages if it failed.

Mavericks cannot read/preview lightroom 5 dng files created from Sony raw files (a7R or RX100). However Canon 6D conversions are fine.
I have come across a couple of threads asking about this. It would seem that some raw files convert into something OSX can read, others (like Sony ARW) create dng files that OSX cannot read. Has anyone had any luck with this? I thought the idea behind dng files was that they were universal and not brand specific.
    Any advice appreciated.

  • Can't convert to dng

With my installation of Bridge its not possible to convert into dng while importing RAW-files.
Do I have to instal something? But where? The DNG-Converter is still in the Bridge directory.
    Thanks for Help
    Hubert

    Jim,
the standalone converter (4.3.1)works well on my Nikon D3 and D300. The problem is, that the option "convert to dng" in the import dialog of Bridge is greyed out. I have read a similar discussion in this forum, but the options offered there don't work for me (changing language).
I think, Brigde doesnot find the converter. I have not find any option to tell Bridge that there is a DNG-Converter. (Which is in the Bridge directory)
Is this a bug? Is there any whitepaper? On the Adobe webside I can't find any informations

  • PSE8 for Mac: Convert to DNG in Bridge Photo Downloader fails

Using PSE8 for Mac.  When I get RAW photos from Bridge and specify "Convert to DNG" in the advanced options of the Photo Downloader, the RAW files download but the conversion to DNG fails for every image.  I can successfully convert using the standalone DNG Converter, but I would like to use the option in the Photo Downloader that comes with Bridge.  I'm in touch with Adobe Support on this but not having a lot of luck.  Has anyone had this problem or know what to do?
Also, I cannot see the RAW images either in the Photo Downloader or in Bridge.  They show up as blue squares with a flower graphic on them in the Downloader, and as white squares in Bridge.  I can only see images once I open them in Elements.  Is this normal?

Also, I cannot see the RAW images either in the Photo Downloader or in Bridge.
This is the source of your problem. You need to update the raw converter in bridge, which ships with a very old version (5.0). In bridge, go to help>updates and let it do its thing.

  • Just bought Canon 40d - Use CS2 - Cannot read Raw files in Bridge

Heading says it all really. Just purchased new Canon 40D Body and have been using CS2 on Mac OS 10.4 for over two years. Cannot read RAW files in Photoshop Bridge which is what I have used consistently with 20D files up to now. Quick search on Google brought up fact that Adobe had not up upgraded Bridge to read new 40D files but that was 2 years ago. Am now looking for plug-in! Can anyone help or am I now forced to upgrade my CS2 or move away to Aperture or Lightroom? Any help gratefully received. Rob

The 40d is not supported by any version of Camera Raw that can run in CS2.  You need at least CS3 and ACR 4.2 or greater.
Dowload the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 5.3 and convert the raw files from your 40d to raw DNGs first, then you can open the DNG files in ACR 3.7 hosted by CS2.

  • Nikon D600 NEF/RAW files/DNG 8.4 still cannot read

Hi all, I just tried installing several versions of the DNG plug in for CS6 and it still cannot read the Nikon D600 NEF/RAW files on a 2014 MacBook Pro.  Any suggestions?  I have searched previous questions, but cannot find one on this very topic.  Cheers, Paul.

What version of Photoshop do you have installed. If you have CS6 make sure you use CS6 menu Help>Updates. To make sure you have the latest updates.  If you have CS6 preternatural you should see version 13.0.6 when you use menu Help>About Photoshop if you hace a Creative cloud subscription you should see version 13.1.2 using menu Help>About Photoshop.
If ACR 8.6 is installed correctly it installs in a common place that is used by both Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CS6.
When you open a RAW file in Phoroshop or in ACR from the Bridge the ACR dialog should open and in its title bar you should see version 8.6.   You should not need to create DNG RAW file for your  NEF RAW files just to used ACR.  You only need to do that if your using an older Photoshop version and an older ACR. version that does not support your Nikon Camera NEF RAW format.
If you have CS6 and the ACR title bar does not show 8.6 you do not have all the CS6 updates installed.  If menu Help>Updates doe not install ACR 8.6 try downloading it manually from the CC updates site and see if the manual update works All the Adobe CC Updates: The Direct Download Links for Mac OS | ProDesignTools

  • Adobe Bridge CS4 - "convert to DNG" not working?

    Hi
I am downloading a bunch of raw .CR2 files taken with a Canon 5D mark iii, and trying to convert them to DNG using Bridge, so that I can open them up in Camera Raw (which won't read the original CR2 files as you need CS5.5 or later). I have selected the "convert to DNG" option but the conversion doesn't seem to work, it's just copying the CR2 files over, Any idea why?
    thanks

I have selected the "convert to DNG" option but the conversion doesn't seem to work, it's just copying the CR2 files over, Any idea why?
It seems you are using Photodownloader that comes with the CS version you are using currently. This Photodownloader is linked to the Raw converter of the version it is part of. So if it does not show the CR2 files as images it also won't convert to DNG
For this you need to download the latest and Free Adobe DNG converter.
Check this page, there is also an option to download the converter for either Mac or Windows

  • Convert to dng is greyed out in CS3 Bridge Photo Downloader

I have no idea what has happened, but when I use the Photo Downloader in Bridge (CS3) to copy using my card reader, the option to convert to dng is greyed out and is not available for me to select.  I can convert to dng using the stand alone dng converter and also from within Camera Raw with no problem, but I like the convenience of doing the conversion using the Photo Downloader.  This option was available to me and worked perfectly up until a couple of weeks ago.  Any ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  thanks in advance.

  • Convert to DNG not available in Bridge photo downloader?

All of a sudden when I try to upload RAW photos from my Nikon D5100, "Convert to DNG" is shown in grey and will not let me select it in the photo downloader. I am having to use an outside converter instead. Also, the Camera Raw application is acting up - not letting me open images with Command + R, not saving image ratings of 5 stars, etc. Any ideas on how to resolve these issues? I am guessing that they are linked...

It was all of a sudden...randomly and not after an upgrade as far as I am aware.
Since you mention 10.9.3 which is a recent update it may well be caused by this update. Read the article Yammer provided and try that. Also as described in earlier post, restart Bridge holding down option (alt) key and from the menu choose reset preferences.
But there have been some problems with recent ACR and DNG in photodownloader that should have been solved with latest ACR. So also try the manual download and install of the link Yammer provided.

  • Bridge doesn't seem to convert my files to DNG what am I doing wrong?

I am new to Adobe Bridge and to Digital photography so please bear with me if I'm not asking the 'right' questions!
Basically I have been asked by my uni to supply my photographs as DNG files and to do this via Adobe Bridge.
I am shooting using a Sony a200 camera in RAW format and using the bridge to 'get photos from camera' I have checked the convert to DNG box but the files it saves do not have a .DNG appendix.
Am I doing something wrong? or will DNGs keep their original appendix?
I'm confused! I've tried googling this with no avail so this is my final hope. Help!
    Thanks
    Lisa

    Lisa,
It's entirely possible that your files are indeed being corrected properly into raw DNG files but you don't see the three-letter extension because you have your Mac preferences set to hide all extensions—which is a terrible idea in the first place.
Go to the Finder, and under the Finder menu bring up the Preferences dialog box, go to the advanced tag and make sure the "Show all file extensions" box is CHECKED.

    Hi,
In addition to Korean font like KPBATANG, the language key of the used form(sapscript or smartform) must be KO. Also the PDF must be created by a Korean device type like e.g. KPSAPWIN.
If you have a Unicode system, then the Unicode cascading fonts device type SWINCF or PDFUC can be used to create the PDF. In this case the language of the form is not so important.

  • Convert to DNG doesn't work in Bridge with 5D mark III

I'm using CS6 and the 'Convert to DNG" option doesn't work when I download my Canon 5D Mark III files, but it works with my 5D Mark II files. HOW can I get this to work. I've had to convert using the DNG converter.

Update ACR to 8.7.1 and you won't have to convert to DNG at all. the 8.7.1 DNG converter also supports the Mark 3.

  • Cannot open CS6 Bridge.  Always the same ERROR: Bridge has a problem and cannot read the cache

Cannot open CS6 Bridge.  Always the same ERROR: Bridge has a problem and cannot read the cache

Try this.  This is for CS6 but substitue CC and Bridge 6.
~library/caches/Adobe/Bridge CS6 and inhere should be 2 files:
    Adobe Bridge Plug-in Cache
and the folder called Cache. Inhere should be 4 folders called '254', '1024', 'data' and 'full'
All those folders carry the content of the respective quality of the thumbs and preview as well as 100 % cache and Bridge database.
Any way, Since you have not used Bridge you have no relevant amount of cache and I would suggest you quit both PS and Bridge and manual delete both the items (plug in and folder called cache at the end of the Bridge CS6 path mentioned above.
(both files will refresh itself after a restart of Bridge).
To be on the save side also visit in same user library the folder Preferences and look for the file called "com.adobe.bridge5.plist" (yes it is Bridge 5 that comes with CS6, all Adobe apps have their own version number and they are presented in the same Suite version. CS6 has PS version 13 and Bridge version 5 )
also drag this file to the trash.
Then hold down option key (alt) while starting Bridge and this should give you the option to reset the preferences as mentioned earlier in this thread.
Choose reset prefs and try again.
