Bridge PS4 / previews- thumbs blurry

I have all of a sudden started having thumbnail previews be blurry, only to open them either in Raw editor, or PS if it is a PSD, and they are fine,  not all of the thumbs are blurry, or if I use the slide show.
It also is not waiting to load either, you know when you run a slideshow it sometimes times out a moment as it loads a crisp image.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.  I did find the problem it was a cache file stored in a large file, not the cache file, it was stored with that file and for some reason , even though I checked the settings in the adobe bridge preferrences to make sure it was set up correctly, so when I deleted that cache folder and the master cache file everything went back to OK
Thank you everyone.  Wow what a help you two where.

  • Previews are Blurry in Bridge CS6

On several occasions I have seen that some images are previewed blurry in Bridge CS6.
I have set the preview to full resolution/quality, so this is not the issue.
When it happens, it happens like this:
    1. I have a layered file, and the preview is good and sharp.
    2. Then I sharpen, and the preview is blurry.
This has occurred numerous times. I thought the preview was corrupted, so I deleted the file, and hauled it back from the trash, so a new preview would be built.
Again, this new preview would again be blurry. (Out of 20 files, two had a blurry preview - and the files themselves were NOT blurry).
Flattening such a file does not help. While the flattened file is also sharp in Photoshop, its preview remains blurry. A copied file also has the blurry preview.
I don't see any correlation with image dimensions, file sizes. Some images just randomely are previewed blurry in Bridge CS6.
The only correlation I see is that it is ALWAYS SHARPENED IMAGES that are previewed blurry (the unsharpened versions always look much sharper in Bridge CS6)
What can I do to have Bridge CS6 preview ALL images correctly?
edit: I purged the cache for this folder, and the rebuilt preview is again blurry.
Even worse, now 50 out of 100 images have blurry previews.
How can I get previews that I can work with?

I have a latest generation MacBook Pro retina, so that should be fine.
It actually worked when I purged the cache for this folder a second time. The blur went away.
The first time I had done a "select all" images to show Bridge which previews I needed rebuilt - not necessary, maybe that was an overload for Bridge.

  • PC and OS switch, now Bridge previews are blurry

Yesterday I (well, my son--not me!) moved my Photoshop CS4, Bridge, ACR, LR2 to a new PC. Operating system changed from XP to Windows7.
Previews are blurry; I cleared cache, in Preferences, I've got Monitor Size Previews selected, Software Rendering Deselected (Selecting it made no difference). Video Card is GeForceGTX 285.
    Thanks!

Some individual jpg's are blurry. If I right click and delete cache for  that individual image, I get the crisp preview. What gives? I thought  that clearing the cache meant clearing all of the cache? I can live with  this.   All cache is not created equal.
There is the central cache which is the main cache and you can purge it in the cache window.  If you have cache exported to folders that cache is not purged.  To purge both cache you need to go to Tools/cache/purge cache for xxx folder.
If you get no preview for CR2  files you probably have either no Camera Raw (ACR), have more than  one ACR or have ACR in wrong folder.
Open PS and in Help click on about plug-ins and camera raw.   Will tell you what version you have.  Should be 5.x for CS4.

  • Picture Previews are blurry

Does anyone know what might be causing my thumbnails on my comp. to look blurry? When I open the picture full size in any application, it looks fine but in iPhoto and in my Pictures folder there are a lot of blurry thumbnail previews. Not all the pictures are like that, just some and they are all from 3 different cameras. thanks!

  • How to show rating dots and file name underneath thumbnail in Bridge CS4 preview workspace?

How to show rating dots and file name underneath thumbnail in Bridge CS4 preview workspace?

Thank you! That was it. The option to change it is not available in preferences (though I believe it was in early CS versions). It's hidden in a dropdown menu associated with an icon at the top. It sure wasn't easy to find, and I probably would not have done so without your lead. Thanks again!

  • Adobe Bridge Forced Preview

I had a look through the forum, could not see mention of this, it's not to say I may have missed this, one feature I would love is a button or similar in the Filter Area or a similar public visible area where you could enable bridge to force preview past the edge of the content screen area... So when you click on a folder with say 500 images in it, as Bridge starts to look in the Folder and render up preview images, you have to scroll up and down to get bridge to render/preview the images.
Of course you have to use the slider to resize the preview images to as small as possible make bridge preview more and then increase the preview size to see them larger. I use both mac and pc versions of CS3 suites and have yet to see if CS5 will do this feature... but to have the ability to select and folder and subfolders to force index them, walk away while Bridge does it work and come back to a set of finished previewed images where I can scroll up and down without bridge trying to preview images as I scroll would be fantastic...
I would love to see this in PC and Mac versions of Bridge and I don't care about cache size, time, network vs local files etc, just to have the feature of forcing bridge to preview the entire contents would be great in my everyday work processes
I hope I have got the idea across...

Thank you very much for your answer.
    I'm sorry, I think I told confused.
As you said, the zoom rate of 100%, 200%, 400% and 800% as I know.
However, these rates are forcing me. I want to grow from 50%.
I understand that there is such an option Bridge: (
Is not it possible to develop?
    Thanks again,

  • Bridge CS5 previews soft, any recommendations.

    I'm on 10.6.3 running Photoshop CS5/Bridge CS5.
My canon 5D mkII raw files are soft in Bridge's main preview window and they are also soft in the main preview in Camera Raw, even though these images are sharp as a razor, I have to actually open the files in Photoshop to check sharpness, which is just no good when Im dealing with hundreds of files.
So are there any preferences I can try to give me a high quality preview in Camera Raw & Bridge's preview windows?
As it is right now, all the preferences are set at default.

I resolved the problem, to get sharp previews in Bridge and the Camera window click the Generate Monitor Sized Preview option in Bridge preferences in the advanced pane, then purge the cache the close Bridge, all should be good after that.

  • Landscape after portrait: preview is blurry

I noticed a weird preview bug in Lightroom 4.3 under Windows 7.
In Library mode, preview window set for single large preview:
    1. Hit a portrait-oriented photo in the filmstrip below. The photo is previewed properly (sharply)
    2. Hit a landscape-oriented photo in the filmstrip below. The photo preview is blurry
    3. Hit another landscape-oriented photo in the filmstrip below. The photo is previewed sharply
    4. Hit the landscape-oriented photo from step 2 again. The photo is previewed sharply
Every time I hit a landscape-oriented photo immediately after a portrait-oriented photo, the photo is previewed blurry. But if the same landscape-oriented photo is previewed immediately after another landscape-oriented photo, then everything is fine.
In other words, previewing a portrait-oriented photo screws up the preview for the next landscape-oriented photo. It looks like not every portrait-oriented photo has this effect. But the ones that do have this effect consistently in 100% cases.
I read the list of fixes in the upcoming 4.4 version and they mention the fix for blurry previews on Mac only. I wonder if this is somehow related. Hopefully they'll fix this one as well.

Here's a sequence of screenshots that demonstrate the problem. (I hope they will come throigh well enough to demonstrate the effect)
    1. This is the first preview of a portrait-oriented image. Preview mode is set to FIT. The preview is sharp. (In all screenshots I will use three images which can be seen here selected in the filmstrip.)
    2. Now I switch to a landscape-oriented image. The preview is blurry. This is the problem in question.
    3. Now I switch to another landscape-oriented image. The preview is sharp
    4. And now I shitch back to the image from step 2. The preview is now sharp
So, the issue here is demonstrated by the difference between previews in steps 2 and 4, even though the same image is being previewed in both cases. In order to see the difference one needs to open full-resolution screenshots.
P.S. I see that the forum engine resized my images (originally 1920 x 1200), but the difference in the detail in the piece of wood is still noticeable. Here's 100% crops from 2nd and 4th screenshots

  • Bridge not previewing full InDesign spread

I am having a problem with Bridge not previewing the will Indesign spread, it only shows the first page, is there a fix?

The answer is no. Sadly Adobe cancelled the spread preview with CS5. InDesign saves only single page previews into the indd-file. Actually I discuss this topic in the InDesign forum because imho its a preview image issue of InDesign (fron CS5 till now). Perhaps you can tell your story over there. I think the moderator there thinks that its just me wanting the spread view in Bridge.

  • Camera roll preview thumbs blacked out after OS4 update

After the latest iPhone 4.01 update, all the preview thumbs in my camera roll are displaying as black. New pictures display correctly, but ALL two hundred picture previews I had on the phone are black.

There are a couple of other threads on this issue and how to fix it (requires using a 3rd party desktop app to rebuild the image database), but with any luck it is fixed in 4.2, which should be out very shortly. If you search the forum you should find the suggestions if you don't want to wait or are cautious about updating.

  • Color Cast Only On Mac Generated jpg files When Viewed In Bridge Cs3 Preview

    Hi,
( Issue With Cs3 Bridge Viewing Jpgs - Getting Colour Cast on the Mac Generated Jpgs Files Only When Viewed In Bridge Cs3 On PC )
Using  CS3 creative suite Mac & PC and viewing all files on the PC.
We have  psd files when viewing in bridge they are  ok and save jpgs via PS3 both on the Mac & PC off the same PSD file that we started with.
But when viewing these jpg files in bridge we get a red cast only when viewing from the Mac generated files from the same PSD we started with.
When we open the jpg files up in Photoshop all of them are ok we no issues only when viewing in bridge we get the red cast.
All PSD files have the same information content:
    Bit depth
    Colour space
    Pixel size
Why are we getting this happening.
    Thnx

Thanks very much for that lead, NormanPCN. I do have Auto Tone checked, though the rendered files in the example above do not have XMP sidecars. I will try unchecking Auto Tone even so, and post back when I see what happens.
    Thanks again,
    Kieren
EDIT: Bingo! I took Auto Tone off in ACR Preferences (in Bridge) and the non-RAW files immediately regenerated thumbs and previews. They now are indistinguishable from the PSD. There is still the very slight difference which I mentioned between the PSD and the CR2. While that seems odd, it is small enough to be relatively trivial.
    Many thanks!

  • Bridge cs3 preview and slideshow question

    Hi
    i have a question
does bridge cs3 need cache (drive space) to preview a photo or to see my photo with the slideshow feature ?
i mean does bridge need to render and store the photos in the database to let me see in the slideshow or browsing
    i don't talk about thumbs
or does it on the fly?
    thanks

If you don't need High Quality for thumbnails then select Quick Thumbnails in preferences.
I think as soon as you point Bridge to a folder of images it goes to work caching the thumbnails and previews.  I'm using cs4, have forgotten how cs3 does it for quick thumbnails.  You could point Bridge to a new folder of jpegs and watch the rotating indicator status display at the bottom; and you might get more information by posting in the Bridge forum.

  • Bridge CS6: Video thumbs do not show start of clip

In Bridge CS5, the generated video thumbnails reflected the start of the clip (I don't know if it was the first frame or not, but close enough). In CS6, the thumbnails seem to be more towards the middle of the clip, and I find this very annoying.
I tried purging the cache for one of them, just in case, but that did nothing.
As an additonal point of info, the preview window also shows incorrectly (it shows the same frame as the thumb) until you scrub or play.
Is there anything I can do to change this behavior or is it a bug?
    Ken

Apparently not, and this is probalby not even a Bridge sub-routine but is dictated by the codec as indicated in the LINK for Win7 "frame for thumbnail".  They even have a website to lobby for this feature.

  • Adobe Bridge Image previews missing

I have 2 digital cameras one is a Fujifilm Fine Pix Pro S3 and the other one is a Nikon D200. The Fuji photo files show image previews in Adobe Bridge (I use Photoshop CS2) but the nikon files only show an icon with NEF displayed. How do I get the image previews? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
I am using an iMac 27" too and I've faced in with this situation as well as you are, I hve tried several different setting but it feels like it is normal. I've gone trough on Bridge, CC and CC2014 nut they are all the same. If you open on camera raw any raw files you might see similar softness. As soon as you convert to JPG,TIFF, PNG... it will be fine.

  • Adobe Bridge CC previews soft.

    Hi,
I've recently upgraded from a PC to a 27" imac. When I open Bridge CC and go to "Full size preview" to edit the days shoot all images look extremely soft / blurred, however once I click the image to zoom in it appears sharp again. I used bridge on my old PC set-up and never noticed this, is there anyway I can make previews sharp?
    Thanks.
