Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB
Almost certainly this is the trouble maker.
The minimum amount of VRAM for the Cloud CS6 is 512 MB, (1 GB recommended)
And 4 GB of RAM is also not that much for a MacPro (I have 16 GB RAM installed and upgraded my Graphic Card with the ATI Radeon 5770 with 1 GB VRAM from the Apple Store)
If you check the preferences for PS under performance you will see that you can only use a few GB RAM for PS (system and other open applications also consume a bit of RAM) and the use of a graphic processor (needed for Open CL with nice features as flick panning, Birds eye zoom, scrubby zoom etc) is not able to select on your computer.
So basically investing a bit in a lot of RAM (fairly cheap nowadays) and a new Graphic card (a bit higher investment) will not only most likely solve this bridge problem but will let you also benefit with more over all performance of your whole system. But of course, the decision is up to you, because sadly enough you are also the one thats need to pay for it...
The upside is that both replacement of RAM and Graphic card is very easy for a Mac Pro and you certainly are able to do this yourself after reading some short instructions

  • No Dialogue box in bridge CS2

Im currently learning about bridge using the CS2 version, and some tasks that I need to perform require a dialogue box on the bottom right hand corner where you can change things about the image-I think its the 'adjust' tab but it doesnt appear.
Do you know any possible reason why or how I can get this tab up? Thanks.

    Sorry, Ill expand.
Its Mac OS/X Leopard. Running Adobe CS3. When I try and print a photo from Adobe CS3, I go to file print which displays a dialogue box (Titled Print). This dialogue box displays many print options e.g. size and orientation , position on the page etc but not a facility i.e dialogue box to select the paper type as an example e.g photo glossy , photo matt etc. These options are available from many of the other programs such as Pages and Easy Print and various other applications. Indeed I can take a photo from CS3 , convert to tiff as an example and print using these options from Easy Print. I would however like to access the full printer settings from CS3. I think this issue has been seen before in the professional range of printers.
I have spoken to Epson who say their printer and driver is fine as all the facilities work from other apps.
Adobe support said CS3 didnt support the preferences but to try a forum to see how people get round it. Hence here I am!
It is very strange that a photo application as advanced as CS3 wont let me choose a paper type for a semi professional printer like the Epson R2880.

  • "Color Matching" option in print dialogue box...

    Hello,
I've upgraded to 10.5 (printing from latest Adobe CS3 Photoshop and InDesign) to an Epson R2400 (with the latest 10.5 drivers from Epson). I let Photoshop/InDesign handle color management (rather than the printer).
Once I hit "print" from the application I'm sent to the OS X print dialogue box. From here I select my Epson settings as I always have (including turning off Epson Color Management) but now, within 10.5, there's a new OS X specific printing option listed as "Color Matching". When I select this I'm giving the options for "ColorSync" (from which I can then choose "automatic" or choose a specific printing profile — though, when I try to select one, I always get a warning saying I'll get undesirable results, and it only goes away when I select "automatic") or "Epson Color Management" (or something like that).
I do not have an option to turn these "off", I have to select one or the other.
Now, what exactly is going on here?
Which do I want to select?
I assume I would leave it to "ColorSync" since I know I don't want the printer to manage the color, but I'm just confused as to what these settings do since I'm supposed to be managing the color via Photoshop.
Can anyone shed some light onto this new option under 10.5?
    Thanks!
    Kristin.

Yes, very strange. If you see a few posts up I actually did get it to work the way I need it to. I called Epson and they had ne reset the printer settings through the system preferences. On my first try this did NOT work, however everything worked as it should in Preview (another image program) and since it did work there the Epson tech basically siad then it's not their problem - most likely adobe.
However just for the hell of it after I hung up, I tried resetting the printer settings again and sure enough it worked. I was able to change the color settings while using Photoshop to manage colors - namely I needed to print a B&W through the Advanced B&W setting. When they are grayed out I can't do this. But even while doing color I don't like that it's grayed out. I've been printing both color and B&W for the last 5-7 years with photosjop manageing colors. I know about double profiling and how to avoid it.
If this was by design from adobe, it deosn't make sense that I was able to access it a few weeks ago after resetting the printer settings. And if this was the case when did Adobe supposedly make the change?
I don't know what's different now, the only thing I can figure is that I had this issue sometime after I installed the lastest Epson print driver - hence the call to Epson... Maybe it's snow leopard weirdness, but I had snow leopard on my laptop and was always able to print sucessfully, but have not tried it since I got the new Mac Pro.
And the strange thing it works fine on other programs. I can have photoshop manage colors and they are not grayed out. Strange and frustrating. Time to set up the DR.
I guess I shoud uninstall PS and then try re-installing it.
    thanks...

  • Save As Dialogue Box Issues

    Hi,
I am trying to save an .AI file. Upon clicking "save as" under "File" the dialogue window pops up, I select the file name and file type (.AI) I wish to save as, and then I click "Save". After clicking "Save" nothing happens. The dialogue box remains, and nothing on the screen changes. It is as if I never clicked "Save". The same exact thing happens when I try to save as a PDF or ANY other file type. Has anyone ever experienced a problem like this? Is there anything I can do to mitigate the issue?

The issue has fixed itself (to a degree). The files are too large for the program to keep up with, so I have to wait a few minutes for AI to catch up. Then I can click save. But clicking save twice has never been a typical procedure for any of my files. Moving forward, I am reducing the resolution of the photos I am working with, and it seems to be running much smoother now. Thank you!

  • MS "Color Dialogue Box" popping up instead of "Adobe Color Picker" inside PSE 10.

For purposes of this question, I'm providing definitions of the terms herein used.
--Toolbox: The 2 columns of Tools on the left side of the Editor screen.
--Foreground Color & Background Color: The color filled squares at the bottom of the Toolbox.
--Color dialogue box: This is the pop-up that is labeled at the top with "Color". It shows 48 different color squares (6 rows by 8 columns); they are labeled "Basic colors:". Right below the "Basic colors:" array is another 16 empty squares (2 rows by 8 columns) to be filled with colors to be defined. There is a "Define Custom Colors>>" button when clicked opens up a color picker with HSB RGB stacked below the color field screen. See this link to the Microsoft "Color Dialogue Box", http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms646375(v=vs.85).aspx
--Adobe Color Picker: The interactive dialogue box with the color field screen to the left and the HSB RGB numbers stacked on the right side. See this link

    The problem:
In PSE 10, when using the Eyedropper Tool or clicking on the Foreground Color or the Background Color, the Microsoft Microsoft "Color Dialogue Box" pops up instead of the "Adobe Color Picker" dialogue box. This started about a month ago. I use Windows 7.
Please help. I want the "Adobe Color Picker" to pop up (like it used to) inside PSE 10. How do I correct this problem?
    Thank you.

Edit>preferences>general and choose the Adobe Color picker from the menu there:

  • Looking for "Color Matching" in Tiger Printer dialogue box

    Hello,
I'm in transition from using Photoshop 7 in Classic to Photoshop CS in Tiger. I built a printer profile in ProfileMaker 5.xx that I would attach to the Printer Dialogue box in Classic under "Color Matching." Thus my prints would pretty much match my monitor. Using Photoshop CS I don't see "Color Matching" option. Do I convert the file to the printer color space and then use "No color Adjustment?"
    Any ideas?

  • Issue with missing links dialogue box

When I open up an InDesign document that I've been working on recently several times a dialogue box has opened up asking to update missing links - all the links to image files are on an external drive connected to my Mac and none of them have been updated or altered in anyway or moved, all the links are correct and in place when the document was saved yesterday evening on my Mac's desktop so has anyone any idea why this message comes up? It doesn't happen every day but has happened quite a number of days, the list of links that need updating varies as well from as low as say 9 up to 248 which is nearly all the images in the document and it's a bit of a pain having to go through the document turning clipping paths off then back on so the images display correctly again!
Whilst other people can and do access the external drive to access the image for their own documents they haven't changed or altered the images so there's no reason for them to show up as missing in InDesign, the external isn't turned off at night or during the day or unmounted at all either. The file was originally a Quark file converted into an InDesign one via Markzware's software, that apart I can't think of any reason why this message appears often? Anyone any ideas about it?
    TIA

anyone got any other ideas about why some of the picture links are being listed as modified? It's an exceptionally annoying quirk, for the last 7 days the links on a 40 page catalogue the links were all fine, this morning however on opening the document it listed over 100 of the images as modified when nothing has been done to them.
When I actually update the picture links in the links palette, in the details panel for the picture the modification date does not change after updating the links, it's the date that it was placed that does change - not sure if this will be of any help in trying to solve whatever's causing this issue, as mentioned above it's exceptionally irritating that it happens and is something that's putting other people off using InDesign over Quark as Quark doesn't seem to suffer this problem, and it would be worse if it happened on some of the other catalogues we do as they're 80 - 100 pages in size!

  • I have an issue with my ipad2.  There is a dialogue box open regarding connecting to hotmail and I cannot close it.   Any ideas on what I can do?

I have an issue with my ipad2.  There is a dialogue box open stating "Cannot verify server identity - Hotmail can't verify  the identity of "m.hotmail.com" - Would you like to continue anyway?"  I cannot close it close this box no matter what I press.  As a result I cant get in to my ipad.  Any ideas on what I can do?  I have tried switching it off but this doesn't work either.

You need to force quit whatever is happening to you.  Try a reset, reboot.  Hold the home and sleep button until the apple logo appears.  Ignore the red slider.
What may be happening is that the set up for your hot mail account is wrong or has failed, and if you have push or fetch turned on, one of the first things the pad will do is to establish contact, and check your mail.  If it cannot get through because of the set up, it comes to a stop, wanting you to fix that problem.
If you have a wifi only, try to start up the pad where there is no signal.  And if your have 3 g, turn it off.  You want the pad to thing there is no signal, so dont try to look for the mail.
What happens if you push home from that screen?  It should goto the home page.  Then go immediately to settings, mail, and either fix the setting, or delete the account and start over.  But turn off push or fetch until you get it sorted out.

  • Metadata edited in Bridge is not reflected in the Info Dialogue Box, but shows up in Photoshop.

Metadata edited in Bridge is not reflected in the Info Dialogue Box, but shows up in Photoshop.

    Dear Ramón,
You are right that not all metadata is shown in the Finder info but in my case the once added in IPTC core do show as expected for most file types (but not CR2 raw). As you now I convert my CR2 to DNG for a long time now I had to look up the original Raw file and create the data for description, location, keywords again. The data you can add and alter yourself in the IPTC Core field. I added a series of screenshots showing different info and to my surprise (another reason to keep to DNG…) the Raw file had very less info and the xmp shows it all in a rather long and obscure way. Yet PSD, DNG and File info in PS show the same.
Could not recreate the Bridge metadata workspace from the OP because mine (Bridge CC) does not have the description field as an option anymore for some obscure reason. Also checked this in my CS6 version with same result, making the metadata workspace unusable but that was it already for a long time.
Still leaves us with the problem the OP showed, having all info in most files, as in Finder info, but not in Bridge. So could the OP respond to the purge cache for selection option in post 4?
Here are (a bit to many, sorry) my screenshots showing different file info (in Dutch but you will manage with that) and metadata in Bridge:
Finder info for PSD and DNG:
Finder info for CR2 and XMP:
    File info Bridge / PSD:
    And a Bridge Metadata view:

  • Stretched 'New Document', 'Color Picker'  dialogue boxes in Illustrator CS5.

I opened Illustrator today and was prompted with the "Adobe Illustrator as detected a problem in the windows registry..." message. I came to these discussions and found that people got around this message by opening the program as the ADMIN. Taking these actions myself seemed to work. Once I got the program seemingly up and running again I went to open a new document only to find that when the New Document box opened it was stretched and inaccessible (see below).
I then opened a file just to see if anything else was odd and got the same thing when opening the Color Picker (see below)
It also occurred when I deleted a layer with artwork on it....needless to say, it's a mystery and I was hoping someone could help.
    Thank you!
UPDATE: Upon further investigations, this appears to be happening to ALL of the dialogue boxes. And that it only appears to be happening to Illustrator, not Photoshop or InDesign.

    Hello John.
And thanks for the quick reply.
It's happening in the CMYK color mode. That's why it's so strange.
In more than 10 years off experience with Illustrator I've never seen nothing like this.
When searching for help in the forums I've read about some color situation with CS6 and the new Lab association. But I supose it didn't "contaminate" CS5.5. Unless it did.. in some update. Hope not.
    Thank you, once again.

  • Spelling - Dialogue Box Issue - InDesign

Hello all - I have an issue with the Dialogue Box for my spelling (spell check) feature in InDesign (CS4 - 6.0.4 - Mac - 10.6.2).
When I'm in a document - select Spelling - I get a dialogue box that looks like this
I've dumped the preferences - nothing!
If anyone can help with this - muchly appreciated.

  • Open and Save dialogue boxes are useless

I have recently moved from Windows to Mac after being told I would never look back and I am already 'looking back' somewhat in terms of the OS. I work with photos and graphics and I'm on the move a lot so went for a Mac Book Pro Retina with SSD and I am not going to lie it is lightning quick and the display is beautiful. But when it comes to saving and opening workflow it does not work how I expected it would.
It seems such a simple thing but you cannot rename files from within mac open and save dialogue boxes. I'm so used to right clicking on a PC to create a new folder, hit F2 or right click and hit rename to rename to what I want then save the file into that new folder. You can also directly edit the name of the files and folders from within the open save dialogue box. If you right click on a mac you can create a new folder but it defaults to the name 'untitled folder' and you then can't change it's name. It find it unbelievable that you can not do this on a MacOS! So unbelievable that I went into an Apple store and spoke with someone there. When I showed them the problem they weren't even aware of it and pointed out I should just use finder. But that is not convenient if if you want to rename a new folder to then have to come out of the open save relocate in finder and change from there.
I know there is the new folder button down to the left hand side and you can rename the folder as soon as you create it using that but sometimes you may make a mistake and want to change it. Same with file names.
Why can't you do this on a Mac? It's crazy. After searching about, I came across the Default Folder X app which appears to fix this issue which isn't really that cheap for something I consider should be 100% native in any OS.
There are other issues that frustrate me from moving over from Windows to Mac (like the ability to snap windows to screen edges, Better Snap Tool fixed that for me at a much more reasonable price but still would have expected this to be native), which I know I will just have to get used to but this one really surprised me.
Considering I was promised so much in terms of better efficiency with work flow and ease of use overall there is still a lot that's left to be desired.

As Axeman1020 noted, the Mac OS is not Windows. Things are not going to be exactly the same. It's no different than if you went from Windows to Linux. So expect a month or so of getting used to a different OS. Once muscle memory gets used to the different keyboard commands, and just where things are in general and how they behave, it'll seem just as easy as Windows.
To answer some of your statements or questions:
It seems such a simple thing but you cannot rename files from within mac open and save dialogue boxes.
Renaming items in the Open or Save dialogue boxes are not what those are for. I know Windows allows it, but why? That's a function for the desktop so you can't accidentally change a file or folder name in a dialogue box that has nothing to do with opening a file or saving one. If opening a file, that's all you're doing. If saving, only the name of the file you're saving can be modified. That's what those dialogue boxes are for - nothing else.
Yes, you can give a file you're saving any name you like. You can even click on any name shown in the save dialogue box to give it that name if you want. You can also highlight the default name and change it.
If you right click on a mac you can create a new folder but it defaults to the name 'untitled folder' and you then can't change it's name.
Of course you can. Either highlight the folder and press Enter, or slowly click on the name twice. Either action will make the name editable.
When I showed them the problem they weren't even aware of it and pointed out I should just use Finder. But that is not convenient if you want to rename a new folder to then have to come out of the open save relocate in finder and change from there.
You're crossing over two different things. I believe you mean renaming a folder from the Save dialogue box. When you click the New Folder button, you have the opportunity to give the new folder any name you want before clicking Create.
If you type the wrong name, then yes, you have to finish the save before you can rename the folder. So either be sure you type the name in correctly before clicking Create, or change the misspelling afterwards. You're not saving any time fixing a typo within the Open dialogue box. It will take the same amount of extra time to do it there as opposed to fixing it on the desktop after you complete the save.
I know there is the new folder button down to the left hand side and you can rename the folder as soon as you create it using that but sometimes you may make a mistake and want to change it. Same with file names.
You are again trying to force a Windows feature into an OS that is not Windows. The Mac does some things that I wish Windows could do, and visa versa. However, you can't force any OS to do something it simply isn't designed to do. Expecting it to change by sheer willpower is only going to drive you crazy. You need to let go of what you want the OS to do as opposed to what it will do.
Considering I was promised so much in terms of better efficiency with work flow and ease of use overall there is still a lot that's left to be desired.
I find the Mac OS to be incredibly efficient. This from a person who has used Windows for many more years overall than the Mac OS. Yes, it took time to get used to how the Mac OS behaved. But rather than fighting it (which is pointless), I simply took the time to learn how to use it as it's designed.
