Bridge slow to assign keywords

I've had a lot of trouble assigning keywords to images.  If I grab a group of say 40 images and assign a keyword, it will act very slow and in the end will not assign the keyword to all the images.  It is almost like it gives up.  I am working on a brand new macbook pro, so shouldn't be an issue of hardware.  Thoughts?

Exactly the same issue
It is not always easy to use the keywords in a fast way, and depending on amount and file size it can take some time to save the files. It is annoying that each time you add or click a key word the saving starts and also background saving for keywords is not working, you should wait for the selected files to be finished before selecting other files. It is indeed not very productive I'm afraid

  • Assign keywords from excel

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone might have a suggestion for me: All our product images are named with a 9-digit ID number. All the item numbers and product information (name, color, gender, category, view, etc.) are stored in an Excel workbook for each photoshoot. Typically, we generate a list of keywords from the excel doc (using applescript), then import that list into Bridge before manually assigning keywords to each image. This seems like a perfect opportunity for automation. Is it possible for Bridge to open the Excel doc, find the cell with the name of the image, and assign the associated keywords from the same row? seems easy enough, but I'm not sure where to start.

  • Bridge not assigning keywords to .ai files

My problem is this, I converted a couple ov Vectors to .ai to assign keywords to it. But Bridge keeps telling me that it can't write Metadata to the files.
Can anyone please help with this?
I've got all the updates for Bridge and I've tried clearing the Cache. Still no luck

One thing that I've noticed is common in Bridge (I'm on CS6 at this point - same deal) is that files which should accept key words often do not. My workaround has been to right click the offending file and select Purge Cache for Selection. This can be done with multiple files. In most cases, once this is done, the offending file will accept keywords and Metadata changes.

  • Unable to assign keywords to JPGs in Bridge

    Hi,
I have recently expereinced errors when attempting to assign keywords to JPGs in Bridge CS4. This used to work a couple of days back but now all I can assign keywords to are dng files.
I use windows 7 and if I close bridge from start up (it loads on windows start) and then re load as administrator then I can assign keywords to the JPGs I previously couldn't.
Is there anything I can do to revert this problem so I do not have to run as admin every time I launch it? Would anyone know the cause of why it happens? It's very frustrating!
Hope someone could shed any light on this!
    Cheers,
    MJ

    Hey,
Yeah, worked on Windows 7 a few days back. I tried yoru ctrl click option reset the preferences. This didn't solve the problem
Any other options? I may consider going back to a previous saved point and trying from there.

  • Does Bridge only Filter/Search Keywords in one folder at a time?

It seems the "Filter" feature in CS6 Bridge will only search keywords in a single opened folder. What if I have multiple folders for image downloads, one per day, in a parent folder for the month, or even a year? Can I use Bridge to filter images in a folder containing other folders?
If not, is there another search strategy I can use to quickly filter images in multiple folders? Thanks.

You can select a root folder, and then select Show Items from Subfolders from the View menu. That adds all contained files to the Content panel, from which you can filter.
If you need more control, you can use Find instead, where you can also do AND/OR operations too, but takes a little more patience.

  • What's The Best Way to Assign Keywords to Multiple Images?

I'm finally starting to organize my photos with keywords, but something about the way it works in LR2 is driving me batty.
I came back from a concert Saturday night with over 1,000 photos (double coverage by me and my wife).  I'm trying to use keywords to designate the 14 different performers who appeared on the stage at different times during the evening, when there could be anywhere from 1 to 7 performers on the stage at the same time.
Now, it seems to me the easiest way to assign these keywords would be:
    1) select a series of photos in which one or more performers appear
    2) in either the "keyword suggestions" or "keyword set" panel, click on the keyword "buttons" I've already created from the performers names.
But this doesn't always work.  I note that when I highlight a number of photos, ONE is more brightly highlighted than the others, and sometimes, that's the ONLY one that gets the keywords I just clicked on. Apparently, that one image is more "selected" than the others in the series I've highlighted.
It would not be quite so infuriating if that approach didn't work at all, but the oddity seems to be that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and I don't know what I'm doing different when it does or doesn't work.
What does work universally is to to the "Keyword List" panel and type in the name I need, and then right click when the name comes up and select "add keyword to selected photos."  That seems to work every time.
Or, I can type "Click here to add keywords," type in the name I need, and hit return twice.  That assigns the keyword to all the selected images.  But then I have to do it again for every performer that appears in that series of frames.
Like I say, the easiest scenario would be the 1-2 step I outlined above, but I cant seem to get that to work all the time.
Anybody know the trick to getting that 1-2 scenario to work every time?
    Thanks,
    --PS

Oh, wow.  I have exactly the same problem of LR not assigning keywords to all my selected images.
I will try the grid, select the grid and not the filmstrip, and look for the current image metadata checkbox as well.
BTW, Adobe told me to delete the preferences file, which I did.
They told me to optomize the catalog, which I did.
And, lastly they told me to create a new catalog and import all the data from my old catalog, which I did not do.
    Stand by ...
Wow, that is it.  You folks solved my problem.
Library Mode, select in the grid OR filmstrip (yep-but harder to see in the filmstrip anyway),
COULD NOT FIND-look for the current image metadata checkbox as well.

  • How do you assign keywords in iMovie 10.0.7?

I cannot find how to assign keywords in iMovie 10.0.7.

This reply doesn't reflect the iMovie '11 interface. This looks like the older versions, which allowed the user to toggle Advanced Tools. iMovie '11 does not have this option, and there are no Inspect or Keyword buttons available. I've searched all over YouTube and Google trying to find an answer to what seems to be a common and simple problem. Was the keyword capability removed from iMovie 10.0.x versions?

  • HOw to assign keyword to a group of photos

Apple Pro training series advises to assign keywords to multiple photos, to simply use CMD A to select all photos, then drag
keyword over one of the photos and it should be assigned to all.  When I do that the keyword is only assigned to the
one photo that it is dragged to.. not all.  How do I do that?
    thanks

Turn off "Primary Only".  The tuturial seems designed to trip users up at this point.
Since you are working your way through it, I leave figuring out how to do it as an exercise (but you might examine the Tool Strip).
    Cheers.  Welcome to Aperture-land.

  • Is there any way to assign keywords to clips in the new iMovie?

You can search for keywords that were assigned to clips in the old iMovie 11, but I can't find how to assign keywords to clips in this new version.  Other than this, I'm finding all the old features and am loving the new layout and speed of imports with this new version!

This is a huge mistake in their release of iMovie.  I was using keywords to categorize all of my son's soccer team videos by player.  This REALLY distroy's all of my past content categorization.  I hope Apple makes an update soon to FIX this as it should be considered a defect in my opinion (whether it was intentional or not).
What is funny is that I can do a search on the old video content by my old keywords and it still finds the video clips. It just won't let me add new keywords to new video going forward.

  • Assign keywords

After updating to 3.4 my Aperture will not assign keywords by pulling the keywords onto images. It does not lock up the program but fails to assign. Keywords can be typed in manually in the Info box.

After the third time opening Aperture the keyword issue somehow solved itself, so ignore the above.

  • Bridge CS3: location of keyword index ???

I know that Bridge stores the actual keyword(s) with the image files but where is the overall "index" located on my hard drive?
The index is the structure that gives the instant access through the images.
    Thanks

That doesn't sound right to me.
My path wasn't quite correct it should have been
    C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS3
and the keywords are stored in
    Adobe Bridge Keywords.xml
The cache files contain thumbnail data and these have to be rebuilt if image files are moved but the keywords stay with the image and are referenced by Bridge wherever the file is.
That is my interpretation and I fully agree that the workings of Bridge are not properly documented by Adobe. But don't expect things to improve: the rushed time-scales imposed by the marketeers mean that not only are new releases buggy, but the documentation is inadequate or non-existent. People that want to understand the program have to spend hours sifting through the Knowledge Base (that's a misnomer!) and assorted blogs to find out what's going on.
Welcome to the wonderful new world of user friendly Adobe.

  • Assigning faces is harder than assigning keywords

I'm organizing photos on my mother-in-law's computer and thought I'd use the faces feature to identify family members.  It is not working well.  It finds faces for some people, but for others it gives around 200 mostly incorrect matches.  Marking the few correct matches as correct does not help clear out all of the incorrect one, and Opt-clicking 200 photos for a number of family members is not efficient.  The photos where I have identified the people are not blurry or dark and are full face shots.  In the end I gave up and assigned keywords for family members for now, as I can do it without wasted clicks on false positives.  I do not have this problem with the facial recognition in Picasa when I work on other family member's computers.  I could tolerate the Faces process if it at least learned enough to get rid of false positives, but it seem that once a picture is thought to be someone the only way to change iPhoto's grouping is to reject the suggestion or assign the real person to it.  Any advice?

  • Assigning keywords to multiple photographs

Hello. I can't seem to assign keywords to selected batches of pictures, the way it's supposed to work by dragging and dropping. Each time only the one picture is tagged, not the whole selection. This happens in the light table, and in the view windows as well. Any ideas?

Is it possible that you have turned on "Primary Only"?  This is a feature which lets you apply metadata to only the primary image among multiple selected images.
Toggle this feature from the icon in the Control Strip (bottom border)

  • IPhoto11 will not assign keywords

I have just opened iPhoto 11 on my new iMac27 with Lion.  I tried assigning keywords following the instructons carefully, but they never appear below the photos.  I used to do this easily with earlier versions of iPhoto.  Previously-assigned keywords are still there, and th  new words appear in the index list, but are not with the photos.  I can alter the image # to add descriptions on the titles, but why can't I use the keyword assign function?  Any ideas please?
    Thank you , Keith

Displaying keywords under the photos has been broken since iPhoto 11 was released.

  • Assigning Keywords

I am a brand new Lightroom user. I have been "teaching" myself using Martin Evening's book.
Having a little trouble with assigning keywords to images.
For example, if I have a 3-level heirarchy and I assign a keyword from the lowest level to an image do I have to also assign the higher levels to that image. I notice that unless I do this the higher levels do not appear in the right panel under Keyword Tags. This does not seem to have any affect on the diplaying of images. Evening talks about "Implied" keywords but there is nothing in the panels that mentions "Implied" or "Implicit" (perhaps this in a change from 1.0 to 1.1).
Of course I do not want to have to assign higher level keywords unless I have to.
    Thanks,
    Alan

You do not have to assign the parents of keywords. If you assign a lowest-level keyword you can recall the image by selecting the keyword or any of its parents in the keyword panel at the left side of the screen.
