Bridge Start Up
Hi, I have Bridge CS4, is it neccessary for Bridge to start up with windows vista?,or can I disable it from the start up in vista. Thanks
The worst thing in my experience is that it can cause a hidden instance of Bridge, only visible in Task Manager > Processes, which can prevent clean shut-downs and normal opening from the shortcut.

Every time that I launch Bridge CC I get this message.
So what gives?
Is there a fix?
Is this normal?
Mac Pro 2012
OS 10.9.1It means some of the start up scripts have been messed up and usually means something wrong with your install.
I would first try to reset preferences with holding down option key while restarting bridge and choose reset preferences.
Also check in the Bridge Preferences what start up scripts are checked (ideally all start up scripts should be checked but you also have to have the according applications installed at your system) -
Why does Bridge Start Doing an Old Find I did when It launches?
I did a find on files some time ago. Now when I launch bridge it starts that find every time. Any ideas? I purged cache and reset the work spaces to no avail.

Ok, this is new...Bridge [Mac CS5.5] is starting by itself, randomly, every 15 minutes or so [play spooky mustic]
What's up with this, anybody?
Thanks in advance...Okay, I've partially figured it out. It opens when I dock my iPhone, which I guess it sees as a camera!
The only problem is that I don't have the option checked to open when a camera is connected! Anyone know how to turn this off?
Thanks in advance... -
Camera Raw (via Bridge) starts to malfunction. Help!
Windows XP Media Centre.
PS CS3.
This is not the first time this has happened to me.
I am editing and saving images in Camera Raw via Bridge and suddenly, I cannot activate the Save Image command. The entire Camera Raw window just greys out and/or the Taskbar pops up in front of the Save Image button.
It's as if the Taskbar is invisibly blocking the Save Image button and appears when I try to use it.
Previously, I've had to use Control/Alt/Delete to close Camera Raw (the Cancel and Done buttons don't work either.
Another weird thing.....if I click on the Heal Tool, it will only appear on the image *above* the highest previous healing mark. If I drag the + tool symbol in amongst previous heal marks, it reverts to the mouse cursor! Bizzare!
Anyone else had this problem?
Any ideas?Sorted.
Though I didn't touch it, the Toggle to Full Screen Mode had been activated.
This, for some reason, prevents the bottom half of the Camera Screen from working.

Why does psd-file from Bridge start as smart object in Photoshop?
Anybody has a solution?
Instead of opening the psd-file normally from bridge into photoshop the file converts to smart object.
I used to work with CS3 where double-clicking in Bridge on a psd-file would open it in Photoshop. Now, when I double click in Bridge (CS6) it opens a "quick time pro" file, which I definitely don't want. When I use the right mouse to "place in Photoshop" it does so, but then automatically converts the file into a smart object, which I don't want either. What need I do to open a psd-file in Bridge as normal psd-file in Photoshop (and to eliminate the silly "quick time pro standard" when double-clicking in Bridge?
Thanks in advance for help.

I have already posted the question in Photoshop. No solution yet.Hi Curt Y
sorry, it was getting somewhat late last night (I live in Switzerland) and after having spent already quite some hours on this problems I wanted to dedicate the evening to more pleasant things.
when I go - in Photoshop - to > edit > preferences I only get the following window. there's nowhere "file type associations" (only in Bridge preferences), and I can't navigate anywhere to > Program Files > Adobe > Adobe PS 64bit > Photoshop exe. Do you have an idea why this could be? Thanks in advance for your support. -
How do I make Bridge start with most recent folder and photos?
Bridge always opens with a folder I was working with last March--How can I get bridge to open at the folder and photos I was working with when I last closed down the program?
You could try the Bridge Forum.
http://forums.adobe.com/community/bridge/general
Apart from that have trashed prefs and repaired permissions yet? -
Bridge starts--no functions--freezes cs6
Cannot get bridge to work in cs6. I am running win 7 64 bit. I would like to try cs6 before purchasing. Can anyone log on and see if they can figure this out? I have tried solutions sugggests in previous posts without any luck.
Hi,
I'm a Bridge QE. I may need to setup a connection with you so that I can check your machine to figure out what happens there. Please tell me the time which is convenient for you if you are willing to do so.
Thanks!

Help with ADB (Android Debug Bridge) start-server
I'm building a tester whose only interface to this phone is the USB connection. So I send and retrieve data to the device using System Exec.vi and ADB. For example:
cmd /c adb push rec.txt
or
cmd /c adb shell "echo 64 > /data/test1"
Pretty sure is not the best way but it worked for me so far. At any rate, my trouble comes that before any of these commands can be used, I need to run the following command:
cmd /c adb start-server
but when I run that, System Exec.vi get stuck, and the only way for me to get out of it is to open a cmd window and type adb kill-server.
So I've been having to start the ADB server manually before I start my tests.
Does anyone know a way around this?
Solved!
Go to Solution. Here's a quick example of how I got this going, not particularly proud of how this went down, but at the end it worked.
- First, launch the ADB server.
- Then, using tasklist wait for the adb server to appear on the process list. This gets a bit trickey because in the processes list the ADB server and the ADB shell windows have the same name so you see to instances of "adb.exe", and have to wait for one of them to go away so I would know the adb server had truly started.
- Finally, I ran all my commands using adb shell. If for some reason adbserver went offline and you tried to run an adb shell cmd, ADB would automatically try to re-start the server and get stuck forever (you'd have to run "adb kill-server" from a separate window to exit, 'cuz abort doesn't work in this case). If you are running quick / manual tests it's no biggie, but if you running hour long scripts, then I'd suggest making sure adb server is running before using any other adb command.
Hope this helps.

Bridge CS6 will not start in Windows 7
Bridge CS6 (both 32 and 64) don't start in Windows 7.
Bridge starts in Task Manager for a few seconds, but goes away. No errors, no logs.
I have tried all the suggestions I've found within the forums, including checking settings,, temp environment variables, deleting C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS6 (including the directory itself), etc. No luck. Adding a new user, then using it to start Bridge worked great, but that is not really a solution. One added piece of info: Bridge did recreate the above directory before dying, although it remains empty. I haven't found any logfiles that might help understand how far it got. Is there a log file or a registry setting that will enable detailed logging to help diagnose this?
I managed to gather a temp xml file that has some info that might help. This file shows up for the few seconds when Bridge is running.

There is obviously something in my normal user's profile or environment that is getting in the way of startup. Yes, my normal user is an admin. You (Adobe) have the code and the startup can't be that convoluted. Someone should be able to walk the code, figure out what things are checked between creating the above directory and the next externally detectable step (like creating a file in this directory or logging something into a log file), then reply here with a list of specific things to check.
I got into a chat with Adobe support several days ago, where I went through several steps of ensuring I was using a properly licensed version only to be told that he didn't know Bridge and asked that I call during the day on Monday. The sign off message to that chat was funny - they mentioned 24x365 support :-) Luckily, I've worked support in my past and I have a sense of humor.
I tried to file a bug form the web, but failed to navigate the amazingly bad support web experience of Adobe.com. At one point, I had found a place to do it, pasted the above into that window, then tried to submit - I wasn't logged in. So, I clicked the login link and got an error pop-up window with a bad-link error. I came in fresh - logged in, then could not find that "report a bug" screen again. Truly amazing. But I guess, if you cannot report a bug, it doesn't exist - so congratulations on your bug-free products.
A suggestion:
Provide a simple link to report a bug that's not tied to a service plan. It would simply be a way to tell you about problems with the hope that a solution could be provided in a future release - these can optionally be logged to the forums for community involvement. I don't mind logging in to prove I'm a valid user.Adobe staff has to browse these forums on their own time (I know that should be part of their job) so their visits are infrequent.
There are several sites to report bugs which seems to be counterproductive. I think this one has the most support right now. http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family
And you are sure you are not running Bridge CS5 in the background? You can only run one Bridge program at any one time.
In both the Mac and Win OS seems like the workaround to create a new user works frequently, but it is a hassle. In your problem solving did you unistall everything then run the Adobe Script Cleaner?
Although this is a stretch for this problem, but might search your uninstall directroy and see if there are any expired Adobe trials you have not uninstalled. For whatever reason it can stop launch of Bridge "as you need to launch parent application at least once". Apparently even though it is long gone it is still seeing it as "parent" program. As I said it is kind of a stretch here, but you never know.
Good luck on this as I know it is extrememly frustrating and Adobe does have its communication problems.
That is why it is important for the users to step up and start contributing to these forums with suggestions on what to try, thiings they have tried and worked or did not, etc. -
please HELP!

I did that in the Terminal and shortly after that the crashes started for me.
I just updated to 10.8.2 and that made the user Library-folder invisible again.
At the same time Bridge started behaving properly.
Not saying that's anything other than a coincidence. -
Problems starting a Message Bridge on 8.1sp3
Hi,
We've been ruuning weblogic server 8.1 sp2 for sometime using a message bridge it has always startted transferring message automatically after a ser ver restart, you see messages such as :
Oct 12, 2004 10:27:10 AM BST> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <BEA-000355> <Thread "ListenThread.Default" listening on port 8001, ip address 16

but with 8.1sp3 the Message Bridge does NOT automatically start transferring messges after a restart and you get messgaes like this :
<Oct 12, 2004 10:42:24 AM BST> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <BEA-000355> <Thread "ListenThread.Default" listening on port 8001, ip address 161.2.231.193>

with sp3 the message transfer needs to be started manually from the browser console.
So my questing : why is bridge start up not automatic in sp3, bug ? or feature ?
thanks
justinI've got some more info on this, and it gets stranger !!
Basically I upgraded another system that uses Message Briging to sp3, and miraculuously, the transfer DID start automatically as desired. Very confusing ! so I compared the MessagingBridge stanzas in the config.xml for each system:
this from the "broken" system where the bridge does not automatically start :
<MessagingBridge Name="DStoMHMessagingBridge"
QualityOfService="Exactly-once"
SourceDestination="DStoMHSourceDestination" Started="true"
TargetDestination="DStoMHTargetDestination" Targets="datasourceCluster"/>
and this from the system where the bridge DOES automatically start :
<MessagingBridge BatchSize="1" Name="BLS-BLP Messaging Bridge"
SourceDestination="BLS-BLP Bridge Source Destination"
Started="true"
TargetDestination="BLS-BLP Bridge Target Destination" Targets="smpd289-bls1"/>
I noticed that
QualityOfService="Exactly-once"
was missing from the working system, so removed it from the broken system. And sure enough the bridge transfer DID start automically, when it had'nt done before. Problem fixed.
So there are several questions :
1. Why does the QualityOfService setting have an impact on whether the Bridge starts automatically ?
2. When you look at the web console on both the working and broken original systems and on the "broken" system with the QualityOfService="Exactly-once" line removered, It still says Exectly-once on the webpage. So Why this miss-match between whats contained in config.xml and whats shown on the webconsole ? -
Can't open Bridge CS6 on start up
When I start CS6 and go to open Bridge - CS5 Bridge starts up and not CS6 Bridge . The onley way I can open CS6 Bridge is to go to the task Manager / processes and stop bridge .exe
Richard,
You can safely remove Bridge CS5 if you no longer use it. This way it should default to Bridge CS6 when you try to initiate Bridge.

Adobe Bridge CS6 Mac cannot be launched
Dear Adobe community!
I just installed my brand new CS6 Design & Web Premium Suite on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.3 and installed all of the available CS6 updates.
Unfortunately I cannot launch Bridge (version 5.0.2.4) from my account (admin privileges) - after double clicking the icon the application window shows up for just a fraction of a second and I receive a pop-up window saying something like "operation could not be completed successfully" (I am running a German language version).
- Trying to start Bridge from PS results in the same error mesage.
- Trashing the Bridge preference file did not change anything.
- Starting Bridge with the option key pressed and forcing reset of all parameters to default does not change anything.
- Booting my Mac into safe mode (pressing shift key on startup) does not help.
But creating a new user on my single-user Mac allows to launch Bridge when logged in to that new account.
I'd be more than happy to receive some helpful coments from the experts around here!
OliverUpdate - problem finally solved!
What happened in between:
I started a chat session with one of the Adobe support guys. He said that the cause for the malfunction was most likely a conflict with permissions.
After I told him that I had tried to repair permissions several times by Apple's Disk Utility without success he suggested me to copy the following file / directory from my newly generated "Test" user (under whom Bridge could be launched effortlessly):
[username]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.bridge5.0.plist
and the whole directoy
[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge CS6
If that would not resolve my problem there was no other "cure" for my problem because of an irreparable permission conflict.
After that I logged in under the new user "Test" and copied the mentioned files / directoy to a separate drive, logged in back as my standard user (the account where Bridge refused to start) and overwrote the files I had just exported before.
Result: Same problems - Bridge refused to start as before.
Dang...
So there is no way to solve this problem like Adobe said?
Presuming that the pending permission problem was the cause for my Bridge-issue I decided to "force" permissions:
I went to OS X Finder, marked the home directoy of my problematic account, typed cmd + I to open the info window, went to the bottom section where permissions are listed, wnet to the user group "admin" and marked this group as "read and write" (it was read only before!) and chose the option to apply theses settings to all of the sub-directories and files (icon with the gear-wheel).
After the changes where applied I restarted my Mac and logged in as my standard user and opened Bridge:
Bridge started but showed the sub-directories of my "Test" account. So I shut down Bridge, deleted the com.adobe.bridge5.0.plist file from my standard account, rebooted my Mac - and voilà - Bridge works like a charme!
FInally I wouldn't say that there was no "plan B"...
Maybe this workaround can be helpful for someone out there!
Regards,
Oliver -
Bridge Freezing, Not Displaying Thumbnails, Says Disk Space is Low and to Purge Cache
Hello,
I'm working in Bridge CS5 on a Mac 0S X version 10.9.2. I have 12 GB of RAM and the server has 240 TB capacity, 76.69 available.
Recently I've received the following error message while processing large photo shoots with both DNG and JPEG files: Bridge is running low on memory. It is recommended that Bridge is restarted.
I have also been manually caching large photo shoots and my cache preferences were set to Keep 100% Preview In Cache and Automatically Export Cache To Folder When Possible. My cache size was set to 500,000. Yesterday, Bridge started to freeze while attempting to open folders. The wheel would spin at the bottom with the message Compiling Criteria. The only way to close Bridge was a Force Quit. This happened several times.
Today, image thumbnails will no longer display, only the DNG/JPEG icons. I received the following error message:
I have tried restarting Bridge while holding the alt/Option key to reset the preferences and checking all three boxes - no luck. I have done the same thing with the boxes unchecked - no luck. I have tried manually purging the cache from its location in the library - no luck. I have tried resetting the cache preferences from the toolbar - no luck. I have tried deleting the cache files from the folders - nothing changes. I have tried purging the cache for each folder from the tool bar - nothing happens.
I need to restore the thumbnails and rebuild the cache for each folder. Does anybody have an idea what is wrong or how to help?
Many Thanks!Okay, so I have a solution. If after purging the central cache on the server Bridge continues to not perform normally try emptying the trash. I did this and it worked.
