Bridge stopped display labels in thumbnails CS4

Today, Bridge CS4 stopped displaying labels (coloured ones) in thumbnails.
It still keeps track of them, they show up in the large size display on the right and I can filter by label.
I checked preferences and I have display labels on thumbnails checked.
The only thing I did differently today from usual was to access bridge/ps via remote desktop from another computer but bridge was running on the computer where the photos are stored and where I usually work on them from (ie. I was not running bridge on another computer).
I have restarted bridge and the computer but nothing brings labels back.
I do not use ratings but notice similar problem with them.
I have purged cache in folders to check as well but that doesn't help.
Any ideas how to bring thumbnail label display back?

when i use other views they seem fine but much less convenient than having a easy way (labels) to see what I have done with images

PS-CS6, Bridge stopped displaying TIFFs

As the title says Bridge stopped displaying all of my tiff files. I am using CS6. All I see now is an icon that says that the file is a tiff but do not see an image. If I click on the tiff icon the file does open in PS as always.
How do I get my images back in Bridge?

You'll probabably have to clear the bridge cache after putting in the new 8.4 plugin from the above link

Finder thumbnail previews stop displaying after a bit.

My co-worker and I both have 27" iMacs running Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. We have tons of image files (many are .eps) that we go though to grab clip art from during the day. We generally rely on looking at the preview of these, however the thumbnail preview in icon view stops displaying images after looking scrolling through for a bit. I usually can't generate any more thumbnail previews after about a third of my work day is over, making it difficult to see which images to choose. Quick Look still works though. Any ideas? (And yes, I do have "Show Icon Preview" checked in the finder's view options.)

Best I can think of is that some cache is filling up, or getting so large Finder is having difficulty managing it.
You might run Disk Utility to see if there's any problems with the hard drive.
Are both Macs doing this? Do they have separate hard drives for these files, or are you sharing a drive, like a network drive?
How full is the hard drive?
I tried opening and closing folder after folder of image files (ones with thumbnails) while Activity Monitor was up and running, and Finder uses more and more memory the more folders I opened; closing them did not fully return the memory usage to a pre-opening level. Seemed to be a steady growth in Finder's memory usage as more and more such folders were opened and closed.

for example, i have a webpage which has a header and footer file, the header contains the banner and links to css files. when viewing in design view all i get to see is plain text, no banner, no styles.. and if i go to properties their are no css files attached...

Why has Lightroom 4 stopped displaying my images?

I was scrolling through my image libary in thumbnail mode - quite fast as I was looking for certain groups of images to keyword them. I had been doing this for some time and then suddenly it just stopped displaying the images - the thumbnails were just empty. I thought they would render after a few seconds but they didn't. I then scrolled back up and none of the images were being displayed. Lightroom would then not close properly so I had to force quit. Computer wouldn't shut down properly either - I assume Lightroom was still doing something in the background. When I restarted the computer and opened Lightroom the same problem was the same - no images at all being displayed. Everything seems fine on the hard drive when I look outside of Lightroom so the images are there, and all the folders are still in place in the Lightroom catalogue - just not displaying images. Any ideas?

Re-installing LR very rarely changes anything...
Did you install some other software recently?
Is your preferences file ok? ...just thinking of one *of the usual suspects*... [on Win7 C:\Users\<youruser>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\Lightroom 4 Preferences.agprefs] ... you can rename the existing one and let LR recreate a new one.
Recreating as suggested above would not mean your total catalog, but all your previews - if we suspect the previews folder of corruption.
Speaking of usual suspects: try the last backups of your catalog, if they show the same behaviour? ...to rule out some corruption of your working catalog...
You optimize your catalog regularly, e.g. before creating the backup? If not, you could also try that.
If none of your catalogs works, then create a fresh test catalog and import a few images and render their previews, to see if it is actually your LR installation with the problem.
Did you try LR4.3RC already? This might make more sense than re-installing an older version.

What settings will allow Adobe to display as a thumbnail in Explorer

This question has probably been answered many times before but bear with me as I cannot find out what settings are required to allow Adobe to display as a thumbnail, of the files contents, instead of the red PDF orbital image. I have a lot of craft images, papers etc and I used to have a proportion of the files that displayed as an thumbnail image but could never make all my Adobe files display the same and since I have updated to Adobe Reader XI I no longer have any files that display as thumbnails. As it makes it easier to see an image instead of opening each document every time to see the image it would be useful to be able to convert back to thumbnails. I would hope that this is still possible as if it isn't it is certainly a retrograde step.
This is on a PC / Laptop running Windows 7

It has been my experience that with all 64-bit Windows (I use 7 and 8.1), thumbnail preview does not work well. I've had some success with:
Fixes for 64-bit Adobe Reader preview handler and thumbnails
With this fix, preview works correctly for a time and then stops working. I have no idea why it stops.
I've looked for an alternative to Adobe Reader (I use the free version). Only one seems to work and it is Foxit Reader. I understand that you wanted a fix for Adobe Reader. So do I. For now at least, I have set Free Foxit Reader as default so that thumbnails work and use "right-click/open with" to open in Adobe Reader.

Stops displaying previews

Hi,
I have been using aperture for a while now, but increasingly, after a while it stops displaying previews in full screen mode or in the viewer. The thumbnails appear OK but not the previews.
If I quit out of the program and restart it I can see then again, but then again after a while , sometimes minutes , sometimes hours , I cannot display the images .
Any ideas?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

You do not need to move your cursor much when pressing the mouse button to cause the tab to tear-off/tear-away into a new tab. No "sensitivity" setting that I am aware of. The tab in the new window can be dragged back to the original window.

Difficult to input train-stop display-name

Hi, experts,
In jdev 11.1.2.3,
When i try to input train-stop display-name in the Property inspector palette,
I do have input the name string (and leave mouse from the Display name field to ID field) and click the save button in jdev,
but infact this display name has not been saved, next time when i come back from some where to view it, it's empty.
And I have stopped the running of app, the computer is OK(not hanging), jdev can do other works. but this issue happens several time today (some time it can work), rather difficult to input display name.
(This issue also happens sometime on VO's hint field inputs).
Is that a bug of jdev? some one else has met with it? or just a mirage of me?

Yes, I do have tried press enter key or leave the mouse to another field on the same pallette.
but the "Save" button didnot enabled, and i have to press the "Save all" button. and cannot be saved in fact.
This issue not always happens, but i have met many times today.

Mail [snow leop] stops displaying messages

Mail [snow leop] stops displaying messages in viewer window until I open a new viewer window.
That is the message text in the riight window section does not show.
I have looked for an item in PREFERENCES and find nothing relating to this.
This is an issue that occures more often now.
What need I do?

You have managed to close Mail's preview pane. To reopen it you can double click on the bottom of Mail's window (the thick border with a dot in the middle) or drag it up to reveal the message preview area.

ITunes stopped displaying other languages

My iTunes recently stopped displaying other languages. What used to be songs in japanese or korean (hangul) is now displayed as block texts. These languages appear on all other programs on my pc. ONLY ON ITUNES does it do this. To test, i even put my entire user as hangul but iTunes still showed hangul as block text. please help.
My itunes is up-to-date and i have already tried doing a repair install of itunes.

How long on average is "some days"? I loaded a 1400x1400 about 8 days ago yet I do not see it via iTS.

Try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds till your iPad starts on it's own.

Using iSight to stop display sleep

Hi
I want to use an old 20" iMac as a simple billboard behind a window, showing an iPhoto slideshow, without any user interactivity. That's the easy part.
However, since there won't people to look at the screen all the time, and there may in fact be continuous hours without any onlooker, I would like to turn off the display after some time, using the Energy Saving preferences. The trick is to turn it back on. Since there is no keyboard or mouse (slideshow folder will be updated via VNC or a scheduled script), the only conceivable input method would be the iSight. The trick is therefore to fool OS X into thinking that any motion detected by the iSight is a user interaction that delays or stop display sleep. I don't even want to take a picture when motion is detected.
I researched the various uses of the iSight, and many options are offered to use it as motion detector and security camera. I haven't found anything related to using it as motion detector to simply turn on the screen (or trigger other actions through Automator, for example).
Does anybody have an idea how it can be done?
Another idea would be to use a real motion detector and connect its contact to an old USB mouse button. Less elegant, but workable.

The system does not have a proviso for a "modified half/clamshell mode". If you want the main display off, and the external display on, you will need to attach a keyboard to the computer, and close the display.
