Bridging(1300 series)

Hi I'm Serge and i configured 2 Cisco 1300 series bridges for Point 2 Point connectivity.
The lattency on the link has an average of 3 ms.
Signal strength of:77 dbm
the connectivity fro both side is good as ping test.
But when i put some data in trasnfer it take too much time.
i trasferd a file of 16.5 MB in about 7 mn.
pls help me find a solution about that radio link asap.

I had a lot of Interferance @ the site and pls make sure the transfer rate is on default for better throughput if u have some kinda interferance. Thx

Multiple VLANs over 1300 series bridges

Hi
I am looking to connect a small external building to a main campus building by wireless bridge. The building i want to connect currently has two vlans, can the 1300 series bridges carry multiple vlans over the wireless bridge link? If so can anyone point me towards s document that explains it?

Can I use power over ethernet to supply the Injector with power?

Power
The access point/bridge receives inline power from the Cisco Aironet Power Injector (hereafter called the power injector). Dual-coax cables are used to provide Ethernet data and power from the power injector to the access point/bridge. The power injector is an external unit designed for operation in a sheltered environment, such as inside a building or vehicle. The power injector also functions as an Ethernet repeater by connecting to a Category 5 LAN backbone and using the dual-coax cable interface to the access point/bridge.
The power injector is available in two models:
Cisco Aironet Power Injector LR2 standard version (included with the access point/bridge)
48-VDC input power
Uses the 48-VDC power module (included with the access point/bridge)
Cisco Aironet Power Injector LR2T optional transportation version
12- to 40-VDC input power

1300 series as Bridge and AP both

Any idea if 1300 series is bridging with another 1300 with integrated antennas on both the end, how would be the performance of it if used for AP mode as well as it works both ways.

Configuring access points and bridges to treat a workgroup bridge as a client device allows more workgroup bridges to associate to the same access point, or to associate using an SSID that is not an infrastructure SSID. The performance cost of reliable multicast deliveryduplication of each multicast packet sent to each workgroup bridge limits the number of infrastructure devices, including workgroup bridges, that can associate to an access point or bridge. To increase beyond 20 the number of workgroup bridges that can associate to the access point, the access point must reduce the delivery reliability of multicast packets to workgroup bridges. With reduced reliability, the access point cannot confirm whether multicast packets reach the intended workgroup bridge, so workgroup bridges at the edge of the access point's coverage area might lose IP connectivity.
When you treat workgroup bridges as client devices, you increase performance but reduce reliability. You use the no infrastructure client configuration interface command to configure access points and bridges to treat workgroup bridges as simple client devices. This is the default setting.

i have 2 cisco aironet 1300 series configured as root bridge and non root bridge, i managed to configure them and they are associating only when they adjacent , when i separate them them communication fail , could you please help me to solve this . thx

Those are very old bridges. So if they are still functioning okay, do they require external antennas or not and do you have external antennas if they do?

Trouble with Aironet 1300 series

I have a cisco aironet 1300 series and i need to reset it back to factory default. the directions say push the mode button while the access point is off and then turn it on while the mode button is down...
i don't see one button on this thing anywhere.
help needed

Hi Jim,
The 1310 bridge/injector do not have a mode button for configuration reset. However, you can reset the configuration if you use the console port on the injector:
1) Connect console port and power-cycle unit
2) When IOS starts loading, hit ESC key twice to get to the boot-loader prompt
3) At the boot-loader prompt show a directory of the flash filesystem (dir flash:)
4) Delete or rename the files "config.txt" and "env_vars", then boot the system ("delete flash:/config.txt" "delete flash:/env_vars")
(The default user/pass should be Cisco/Cisco)

Aironet 1300 series as wireless client ?

Hi there.
I would like to install a device on a yacht so that when the yacht enters a marina, it can connect to the marina wifi and then make that connection available to the yacht network. I am looking for a cisco device that will do similar to the Smartbridge Nexus (http://www.smartbridges.com/products/accesspoints.asp), which have done the job adequately in the past.
I was thinking of using a 1300 series outdoor unit, does anyone know if I can use it in the way I plan, or if there is an alternative.

There are couple of options for you.
1. Cisco 350 series workgroup bridge - this will connect to the marina wi-fi and provide wired access to the yacht. If you connect a hub to the WGB's output, you can spread the connection among multiple laptops.
2. Also explore an option of using any Cisco AP as a repeater. A repeater will connect to the marina wi-fi wirelessly and extend the network to the yacht. But please note that the data rate may not be that good because of an extra hop in the middle.
For both these options to work, the marina wi-fi must be autonomous AP deployment based. If it is a lightweight-based wi-fi with a controller none of these options will work.

Sadly the 1310 cannot be powered by PoE ,but, the Power Injector can be up to 100 meters away from the unit.
Dual coaxial cable to run from the power injector to the 1300. See attached notes:

1300 series antenna

Dear All,
I wanted to ask whether AIRANT-24120 or other high gain bridge antennas can be used to provide Access point capabilities with 1300 series AP.
My scenario is that, that i wanted to give roaming services to my WIFI clients in approx 15km range. But the data sheets suggests that these antennas can be used for point to point or point to mulipoint bridge scenarios not with the Access point role. In short i was hoping to use AIRANT-24120 with one 1300 series AP to provide AP capabilities with long range.
Please guide me in this regard or suggest me any other solution.

In bridge environment this antenna (AIR-ANT24120 can operate up to 15.8 miles (approx ) at 2Mbps data rates. ie when two bridge are talking.
But what look like you are looking 15 km coverage for client. And its not possible because in AP enviroment we have client (wireless laptop and phone ) talking to AP.
Even though these bridge are powerful and can transmit up to 15 km using this antenna but we donot need to forget that these client operate with very lower power radio in it. ie less than 1 milli watt voltage.
So even though 1310 signal will reach client client will not able to send it signal so far ie 15 km or so . And hence its not possible until you have local tower set to all over this 15 km radius so to allow client to send back signal to server .
Its very similar as mobile phone as small cell that is phone connect to server through local tower.

Thanks for clearing the concept, but one more question :)...so what can be the solution to connect a distant client several kilometeres away from my root ( any cisco product u can suggest ?) What i have in my mind is that i connect, two 1300s through omnis and use a bridge mode. and since bridge mode supports clients association this could solve my problem? correct me if i am wrong..

1300 Series at 100 mW

Kindly advise what part number of 1300 Series bridge should I order to have maximum 100 mW power output in .11b mode. I intend to use external antennas.

All power levels are subject to country standards. The "E" model access points are set to European standards, which I believe restrict 802.11b to 17dB (50mW).
I apologize for assuming you were in the Americas. Assuming now that you're in Europe, you won't be able to order an "A" access point. Or at least, you can order it, but you can't legally use it at full power :)

Conection 1300 series Aironet As Access Point

I´m thinking to install a 1300 series Cisco aironet on my network, i wish this network can offers remote access to my network as a Access point to Laptop or pc than works with a 54MB/s and 11 MB/s. I should configured my AP as a Repeater of my network. well all you can help. i really glad you.

Help on 1300 series and Antennas

Can somebody give me recommendations on what I should use for blanket wireless access for multiple condo unit building 4 stories high? I was looking to use the 1300 series and possibly the Air ANT24120 antenna. I want it to penetrate through walls a floors. If anybody has any past experience on this, could you recommend this or another product? Also I am looking to see how far the signal can carry. I am trying to cut down on AP's.

I would make sure to get a good site survey done and make sure that you stay well within the FCC regulations for maximum transmission power. I have done several of these installations using the 1500 series APs strategically placed around the building. Also bear in mind you could have polarization issues as this building is so tall. The unfortunate truth here is that complete penetration of a building this size is very hard to achieve. Question about tx2-1300 Series

What I would like to know is whether this current model family has a pressure sensitive stylus or is Wacom Penabled. I am currently researching several tablet PCs for my next purchase, and being an artist, I need to make sure that either the stylus supplied with the tablet PC supports full pressure sensitivity or supports a Wacom Penabled stylus, as I rely heavily on pressure sensitivity for my work.
I would buy a Wacom Cintiq 12WX but it costs $1700 in Australia, so if I bought a Wacom Penabled tablet PC, then I'd get a big bang for my buck
If an HP Technician/Official can answer this enquiry, that would be greatly appreciated.

TX2-1300 series tablet PCs come with N-Trig duosense but not Wacom. I did not test the pressure sensitivity. However, HP advertises that it is pressure sensitive.
