Bridging from a Netcomm router to my EA6500, duplicate home IP addresses for both devices ?

I'm attempting to bridge from a Netcomm router to my EA6500, I can set the Netcomm into bridging mode no problems and as expected the Internet is gone.
Next step is to access my EA6500 to configure it to manage Internet access however when I try 192.168.1.1 to get to my EA6500 it takes me to the WEB interface for the Netcomm router as it's default IP is also 192.168.1.1, so I'm stuck.
So they have the same default IP address, how do i get to my EA6500 to finish the configuration ???
Thanks
Tony

From what you're describing... It doesn't sound like your modem/router is in full bridge mode. Sounds like half bridge.
I guess you could disconnect the EA6500 from modem. Reset EA6500 to factory defaults. Change the local IP address of the EA6500 to 192.168.2.1. And then reconnect the EA6500 back to the modem.

What a crappy design. This is where Android is so much better. It seems to me like you have no control over your iPhone. It does whatever Apple has designed it to do without asking you first. On Android you can actually go in see all folders, document files, photo files etc and you have so much more control of everything. Apple s..cks!

  • Wireless bridge from hotspot to router

Hi I recently moved into a new building that has some hotspots for Internet connection which is included in the rent price. I have a linksys Cisco wireless-G Broadband router model no. WRT54G2 V1 and I am trying to create a wireless bridge between the hotspot (I have my own Unique Internet identifier) to the router, which is then connected to my desktop using an Ethernet wire.
Can I create a wireless bridge, if yes, how do I do this?
    Thanks in advance

The router (WRT54G2 V1) does not have a wireless receiver capability so you will need a separate ethernet bridge.
Your setup should be like this:
    (((Wireless connection)))--->(((Ethernet bridge<-wired connection->Linksys router<-wired connection->Desktop computer
I hope that makes sense. XD

  • HT4759 I just got a new macbook pro and I would like to have all of my contacts from my iPhone 4s imported. I have iCloud turned on on both devices but the contacts are not importing what am I missing

For some strange reason my contacts are not populating on my macbook from my iPhone. I have iCloud turned on on both devices and I have selected the contacts folder to be in the cloud but my macbook isn't populating the data.

To copy your exchange account contacts to iCloud, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer from our exchange account you will need the “Pro” version.  If you aren't sure, start with the free version.  When you use it, it will tell you if you need the paid version.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from your exchange account) as a vCard attachment to an email that and send the email to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap your exchange account and turn off contacts syncing.*
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the exchange contacts back to your device, and to iCloud.  Go to icloud.com to confirm that the contacts are there.  If you ever want to "refresh" this with your current exchange contacts, you can reply to this conversation in the future and I can give you the steps to do so.
    * You could leave it turned on if you want to reference it occasionally.  If you do, just open contacts and tap Groups, then tap the exchange account so it is unchecked and tap Done.  That will hide them from view so you don't see duplicates.

    Is the router to small?
Not necessarily, if you are using Facetime all the data goes through your WiFi router, your cable/DSL modem, your ISP and the internet to Apple's Facetime servers and then, in reverse, down to the Facetime recipient. If your ISP connection is too slow or there is excessive traffic on the internet you can have Facetime problems.
Most WiFi routers can handle this unless others in the house are also using WiFi at the same time. The problem may be your ISP connection or congestion on the internet, etc.

  • I moved to the UK from the US and want to use my same email address for my UK iTunes account. Is this possible?

I don't have another email address to use. Please help. Thank you.

You do not want more than one AppleID.  All items you buy with an AppleID are permanently associated with that AppleID and cannot be transferred.  It then becomes a major nuisance having to manage more than one AppleID on your devices.
You cannot delete an AppleID.  Just remove information from it and stop using it.

  • Can you facetime from imac i5 to an ipad2 using the same apple id on both devices?

i'm pretty sure you can't but before i set up another email address just so i can facetime the ipad2 i thought i'd ask.
thank you in advance for any answers!

no you will need to create a new id for one of the devices because you are not able to facetime yourself with the same id for some reason probably has to do with communication issues but the accounts are free so just create a new account on one of them

Reset my Slingbox and on my router Dhcp table I see a dhcp address for 58 seconds but the slingbox network light keeps flashing. Then the address disappears and the slingbox network light continues to flash. Have tried changing the router, same issue.

You can try this link and follow the steps, i think it will help you in fixing your problem.
If possible connect a different Cat5 Cable from your Router to the Slingbox.

  • Wired Bridge from Actiontec to Airport Express

I've seen numerous posts on setting up the Airport Express to act as a wireless bridge with Verizon's Actiontec router. But I want to bridge the Airport Express to the Actiontec over ethernet so the Airport is the sole wireless source. I can't quite find instructions for this.
Here are instructions for doing this with the Actiontec from DSL Reports, but they are not specific to the Airport Express. Can someone explain to me how to make the appropriate reconfigurations to the Airport Express?
    1. Reconfigure your old router to disable their DHCP functions and re-assign their LAN ports to | 192.168.0.2 | 192.168.0.3 | 192.168.0.4 | and so on. We're assuming you will leave your Verizon provided router assigned to port 192.168.0.1 and let it run DHCP to hand out dynamic IP addresses on your LAN as 192.168.0.100 | 192.168.0.101 | 192.168.0.102, ...
To reconfigure an old router you may need to temporarily hard-wire one of it's LAN ethernet ports to your PC and disconnect any other LAN or WAN ports.
Most routers are then configured by opening a browser and going to »192.168.0.1 and walking the menus. The default address for the Actiontec is »192.168.1.1 .
    2. Interconnect your routers LAN port-to-LAN port using any number of straight-through CAT5 runs and/or patch cords AND a crossover patch cable. (The connection between two LAN ports must have an odd number of crossover cables).
    3. Plug in, turn on and enjoy your LAN. All PCs, printers and other ethernet and/or WiFi (wireless) devices will appear on the same LAN at addresses 192.168.x.y and can share resources. Only your Verizon router will act as a NAT firewall.

  • Mi424wr-gen3I no internet access from secondary subnet / router

    All,
I am looking to provide internet access to my internal LAN / WLAN devices on another router.  I have configured my second router to connect to the 192.168.1.0/24 network on the mi424wr LAN.
Static routes: 192.168.2.0/24  next hop 192.168.1.254 (secondary router interface connected to m1424wr LAN)
Firewall policy filter: Network Home  Inbound and outbound allow access sourced and destined to both subnets.
I have layer 3 conectivity between the routers but I am not able to browse the internet from secondary router 192.168.2.0 network. My default router on the 192.168.2.0/24 is the 192.168.1.1 router.
I tried to modifiy the DNS setting for devices on the 192.168.2.0 net but nothing works.  Used 192.168.1.1 (mi424wr interface which the setting for the 192.168.1.0 net devices. Even tried using verizon's DNS server 68.237.161.12 but no internet access.  The mi424wr does have a dns server setting which I tried to statically add 192.168.2.x host but that did not work.
So I am not sure if the mi424wr DNS server is not allowing any other subnets beside the 192.168.1.0/24 to access its DNS services or some other policy is needed to be created.  My secondary router is not NATing and at a loss.
Tried to research other methods of using my secondary router to connect to internet with the mi424wr-gen3I but nothing seems worth trying.  Setting the mi424wr-gen3I to bridge mode would be an option but have not seen any configuration for the REV I router vesion.  My last setup worked in bridge mode and STB were functional but VOD was always very choppy.  Seem there are some QoS setting the mi424wrI has configure to improve traffic priority for video.
    Any assistance appreciated.
    Rich

As STX said.  All you need to do is to connect an ethernet cable from a lan port of the Verizon router to the wan port of your own router.  Your own router needs to be configured with an address on the 192.168.1 subnet, either dhcp or static, yours is you say at 192.168.1.254 as is mine.  Then you should have configured the dhcp side of your router with a subnet other than 192.168.1 which apparently you have done.  You do not need static routes or anything else for devices on the 192.168.2 subnet to access the internet, other than valid DNS server addresses - did you set valid dns servers addresses in the static ip internet connection on your router?  You could set it to 192.168.1.1 and pick up whatever dns the vz router is using or you could set it dns servers of your choice, personally I set mine to opeDNS server addresses.
What kind of router is the second router?
Your description of your setup sound OK and the only difference I see between your setup and mine is that you say your second router is not NATing

  • Upgrading from Gen 1 router to the I424WR GigE router?

    Hey guys,
I was wondering if someone could help me in my little situation.
I recently upgraded to the 50/25 FiOS internet but I have the old Generation 1 router. So my wifi speed and range isn't all that great throughout our house.
My buddy has a spare I424WR GigE router (which i believe is the newest one that supports "N" wireless)
Question is. If i buy the router from him and want to use it at home. Can i just disconnect the router that I have now and connect the power cable and coax to get internet connection or do i need to do something else?
    Thanks

So i just need the actual power cable for the new router and then I can just hook it up via coax to get basically faster speeds and longer range right?
Not quite.   The default mode for that router (at least the ones I've seen) is Compatibility Mode (802.11 b/g/n).  With compatibility mode you will not get full "n" speed.  You need to go into your router's wireless settings and change it to : Performance Mode (802.11n).
If you have any "g" devices on your network, they will not work once you go to Performance Mode.  If you have "g" devices and want to take advantage of "n" capability, you will need to follow viafax999's suggestion of bridge mode.
Alright, so as long as I replace my old one with the new router i'll get better speeds correct? Cause i'm thinking of just replacing my old router with the new one (The router with the red line on it dual band) I may get an extender in the future (Airport Express/Extreme to get extra range)
Now to be safe I'll probably be in Compatibility mode.. Cause here's wha devicest we have in our house.
    2 MacBook Pro's 2009 and 2011
    1 Windows 8 Dell Desktop 2012
All iPhone 5's or newer and a Galaxy Note 2.
As long as we get better speed than 20mb/s then that's fine. Cause YouTube is lagging and browsing online sometimes is just a huge lag.
