Bridging "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" not possible

Trying to bridge an "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" is not possible. There is
no such menu entry in "Network connections" context menu of the specified virtual adapter. Why? It absolutely make no sense why this shouldn't work. Is there any workaround to make this virtual adapter part of a bridge?
There was a suggestion using "bindbridge" tool, however I wasn't able to make it working.

Hi,
Why do you want to bridge an Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter? To share your network with other computers, please right click on the virtual adapter, select properties, and share an existing Internet connection with it. If you want to bridge to virtual
machine, you can set it with your virtualization software.

  • Bootcamp 3.2: Microsoft Virtual WiFi MiniPort Adapter shows "device is not working properly...Code 31"

Using Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter shows the "device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31).".The device is the Apple iMac10,1 All-in-one computer. Right clicking browse files (for the device) shows the Bootcamp (C:), DVD (D:); and my external hard drives can be selected.
Internet and WiFi connections all working ok. Am also running MacDrive 8 to access the Mac drives when in the Windows partition, again without any seeming issues.
Updating the driver simply generates another Code 31 error.
Appreciate this seems to be a known problem - is the a solution a novice use might be able to follow or should I simply ignore the error message?
Driver Date us 21/06/2006 and Driver Version is 6.1.7600.16385.

    Hi  ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 4-1204tx Ultrabook and issues with WiFi adapter is not working properly. Error codes in Device Manager in Windows  8.1 could be fixed by deleting any extra drivers. So I would uninstall all that is listed in the Network drivers in the Device Manager, restart the Notebook. Here is a list of Device Manager options, this might help.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating or reinstalling. Hope this helps. Thanks.

  • Device Manager in Win: Does Microsoft Virtual WiFi MiniPort Adapter Matter?

I'm a  novice user just wondering about configuring devices in Windows 7 bootcamp partition.
My Apple iMac computer shows as a device in the Windows device manager with a yellow exclamation mark.
The driver is Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter.
The error is "device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)'.
Attempting to troubleshoot, by updating the driver doesn't solve the problem, as Windows can't automatically locate the driver.
However nothing seems to be actually functioning wrong - internet connectivity and wifi connections are stable and the partition is accessible.
I'm also using MacDrive 8 to access my Mac drives from Windows, again this seems to be working smoothly.
Can I just ignore this as one of the quirks of Bootcamp 3.2?
I have my PhD work on the Windows side so just wanting to be sure I can safely ignore the problem.
I've asked this question in the Intel iMac forum, wihtout any luck, just thought other Bootcamp users might be able to shine some light on the issue?
    In detail:
    Bootcamp; 3.2
Win OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit
    Mac OS: 10.6.7
Computer: Intel Core Duo 3.06GHz 8 GB RAM

    Hi,
If they remained after uninstall from device manager, run these commands with administrator privilege:
    netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
    netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow

  • Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter has red x

Wireless 802.11 wireless LAN Card and Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter have red x's.  I right click to enable wireless network, and it tells me waiting for users.
I am attempting to use the mini for my laptop, but when I login or try to with my laptop it tells me the network is not available, which by looking at it, it obviously isn't.  It shows up on the list, but tells me login failed.
I switched to share the wireless network connection on my pc and it still has the red x.
I disable the wireless 802.11 connection and it takes away the adapter (mini wifi) and makes it disabled with only two options showing then.
I have updated adapters and made the items active in the device manager.  I do a check and it tells me the drivers are up to date.
I ran a diagnosis of the wireless network this is what it said:
Also I have the phsical little adapter that came with my pc that screws onto the back of the pc that I do have connected.
It worked prior but now i cannot get it to work at all.

  • Problem with microsoft virtual WiFi Miniport adapter

Hi, I am Shakil Rahman. For last 4-5 days, the wireless interent connection has not been working. I have tried to figure out the problem with the aid of internet since I am not so efficient about computer. According to the information obtained from internet,
the problem is with microsoft virtual WiFi Miniport adapter and there is a 'Triangle symbol' (Symbol of attention) unlike Atheros AR5B93 wireless network adapter and Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet under the 'Network Adapters' title. In this circumstances,
how can I fix this problem to enable wireless connection? I would be grateful if you help me out.

    Hi Shakil Rahman
You can try to uninstall your WIFI adapter driver in your Device Manager, then reboot your computer, the system will find and reinstall the driver automatically.
If there is no use, please contact your computer manufacture for further  help.

  • Mobile phone Can't connect to the Notebook Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter

    1. Create Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter
              1.1 netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=NETWORK key=password keyUsage=persistent
              1.2. netsh wlan start hostednetwork
    2. Connect Network Sharing--open
    3. phone using wifi to connect the network
can't connect ,wha's wrong? notebook can surf through Ethernet connection.
If i set a static ip in the mobile phone which is the same net section like the Microsoft Virtual WiFi network, DNS:8.8.8.8 . Then can connected, but can't surf, anybody can give me some helps?
      Ethernet connection:
    1. ADSL dail mode
    2. Static IP is setted
    3. DNS is setted

    Hi midource,
Please update your wireless network adapter driver for good measure.
Check your phone connection properties see if it could get IP address from your computer properly.
Static IP doesn’t mean your phone has connected to network, if you set static IP the connection will show connected but without internet.
This issue could be caused by incompatible hardware with Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter hotspot, especially on some android devices.
But we still could do some configuration changing and give it a try.
Check properties of your adapter Ethernet connection->sharing, check “Allow other network to connect through…” and “Allow other network users to control…”
Tight click Ethernet connection-> properties->Advanced (advanced settings might be different depends on WIFI adapter manufacturer)
    Disable 802.11n mode
Disable 40 Mhz Bandwidth Compatibility Mode
Run Netsh command you mentioned above as administrator.
    Disable firewall temporarily.
Check your issue again after re-enable your Virtual Wifi Miniport connection.
    If the issue still persists
Please try other devices on your Windows 8.1 Virtual WIFI Miniport Adapter hotspot. If they works check compatibility issue with your phone manufacturer or set a router for network sharing.

  • Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adaptor Driver Issue

    Hi,
Got a brand new Windows 7 PC. Experienced one BSOD when searching network for other devices, and another flat out freeze when Windows Update asked me to restart. My PC under devices and printers showed that it needed troubleshooting. Windows identified the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adaptor as the problem, suggesting a reinstall of the driver- to which it attempted, and failed. I have thus simply uninstalled this device from device manager. I expect Windows will find it again on reboot.
What is this adaptor, and do I need to worry about it? I'm connecting through Wifi with no problems, but I do plan to connect through a wire soon, once I can get hold of one long enough..
This is 64bit Windows 7, Core 2 Quad, 6gb RAM. I have added no new hardware.
    Thanks
    Ashley

I'm having an adapter issue too.
My 11 year old Dell laptop running WinXP easily connected to any wireless network even if it was 3 blocks away or further.  And that is with a cheap Airlink101 usb wireless adapter I found online for 12.00 USD.
Now I purchased a Dell Inspiron 15R, running Windows 7 64bit, 4 gigs of ram, 500gb hard drive, with an intel wirless adapter and I am lucky if I connect to anything.
Now I will not throw my credentials out there and say "I am smart and you are stupid so this should just work" but I will say this:  I started tinkering with computers back when the only choice for a home pc was a Radio Shack TRS-80, Atari 400 or 800,
or the Commodore 64, and some others.  (I owned the Atari 800xl)
While I was not fortunate enough to attend a 4 year college, I did learn the ropes and ultimately attended a computer 'school' to get my professional diploma so I could get a job in some field.  I started on the help desk and worked through different
departments, ultimately ending up in Information Security.
I will not pretend to be an expert but I do consider myself a skilled power user, or more specifically, a professional - paid - highly experienced - computer Ninja - of all computer areas.
So I will leave everyone with this, the WiFi functionality should simply work.  Yes, there are hundreds of adapters and hundreds of millions of lines of code from thousands of manufacturers that work against this but this is not curing a disease.
I will not buy an Apple computer but this is why many folks jump the Windows ship, because they tire of banging their heads against the wall after paying 500, 600, 700, 800+ dollars for something that should at the very least get them on the internet.
This leads me to another question, how much should we consumers with our "grimy hands" spend to get something that works?  Which laptop or home pc comes with a different/better wireless adapter then what we have?  My understanding was that most peripherals
while manufactured by dozens of companies, still rely on a handful of common chips/chipsets.
I don't care how cheap the technology is, or how expensive.  I have used cheap components and I have used expensive components.  When running Windows 3.x, Windows 98, Windows XP, and Windows 7, and even Ubunto, or Sabayon linux distros, you always
find issues.  Hence one reason why Apple likes to control their software by only installing on their hardware.
I don't see anyone on here blaming Microsoft.  I am a proponent of Microsoft.  Maybe even a die-hard, being a Zune HD owner and a Windows Mobile phone owner (crazy, right?).  But people are here looking for a solution not a lecture.
So if somebody - be it Microsoft, Intel, or the driver signing authority, Dell, or whomever, can help then please do so.  Please figure out why the 1 commonality here - Microsoft Virtual Miniport Adapter, seems to be related to this issue in some way.
We know it may not be your fault Miniport, but you sure aren't a poplular fella here!
    Removing tongue from cheek...Done.

  • Intel My wifi technology adapter not found

    Hello ! I got problem.
Some days ago my wifi worked fine until now .Now i got error like this: adapter not found. Can't access wifi anymore. I think my drivers are updated, i had downloaded the latest from your site. I tried format, but that didn't help too, system restore didn't help, unistalling old drivers and installing new drivers didn't help. But sometimes it will find my wireless connections and it will work fine, but sometimes it's gone.  Currently i'm connected with cable. I have tried many solutions but none of them have helped me. Can you answer what to do?

Make sure the box is checked, allow computer to turn off this device to save power. If the box is unchecked, the My WiFi Adapter will go missing.

  • Virtual Wifi Miniport adaptor - Hostednetwork will not start

Hi, I'm trying to use a W520 with Thinkpad 1x1 11bgn Wireless LAN PCI Express half mini card to create a hotspot on the laptop itself. I'm trying to use a program called Connectify that handles the setup as a full Access Point. This will allow the other wifi devices to connect directly to the laptop wirelessly without a router.
The problem is that I can't activate the Thinkpad hostednetwork feature that is required for the inital setup. This is done through the Command Prompt text window. When I try to start the hosted network the error says the "group or resource is not in the correct state". I've got the latest wifi driver and a check of the driver says it supports hosted networks.

  • How to use Z10 as Wifi USB Adapter (NOT internet tethering)

    Hi,
I would like to know if there is a way to use my Z10 as a USB dongle to receive wifi signal from my router.
I tried to disable the Data Service first and hoping it will let me choose my home wifi, but it did not work. It always asks to turn on the Data Service then to do a normal Internet Tethering (through my 4G).
I know some Android phones can do this, but I couldn't find an app or how to do this on my Z10 yet.
    Could anyone advise?
    Thanks.

    chuugokujin wrote:
No...as my title indicated it's not internet tethering through the mobile network (4G) but receiving signals from home router wifi. Think it as a wireless USB dongle/adapter...
If you have the WiFi turned ON on your Z10 and the z10 is connected to your laptop, then the laptop will have access to the internet via Z10 WiFi connection. Yes, the laptop will receive the signals from your WiFi router thru your Z10.
If you turn OFF WiFi on your Z10, then your laptop will have access to the internet via your data connection provided by your network.

  • What is a virtual miniport adapter

I have a T520. I have Access Connections installed. Running Windows 7 Pro.
When I look at Network Connections from control panel, it shows 4 adapters. LAN, Wireless Network (Intel Centrino Advance-N 6205 plus two others that say wirels connection 2 and wireless connection 3. Latter two are described as Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter.
Could anyone explain just what the purpose of the miniport adapters is?
Another question. We are limited at our resort to 4 wifi connections. If we use one too many one gets bumped of for 24hrs (thanks to Hilton hhonors1) If I activate the Hotspot feature (so we can add guest users) does the computer still use just one wifi connection?

Thanks. After not getting an answer here, I did eventually find that link. There is not much out there either from Lenovo or Microsoft.
I still don't really know what the second miniport would be used for. Nor, if the miniport is using up one of my wifi connections (which are limited at our location)
