Brief Losses of Audio

Every once in a while I briefly, for a couple of seconds, lose audio in the middle of watching a show. I can't recreate the problem manually, but I know it happens when watching recorded programs on my DVR box and recorded programs on other boxes.
The programs are recorded fine, as I if I jump back the audio plays fine. It's something wrong with playback. Has anyone else experienced this problem and know how to fix it?

Press the Menu button on your remote and find the Customer Support option and Fix Common DVR Issues.  If you run this app, it will scan your DVR and correct filesystem errors.  It will reboot your DVR (perhaps a couple of times).  The process takes about 5 - 10 minutes.   Verizon keeps moving this item around and calling slightly different names.  It is not uncommon to have to run this utility once every few weeks since the DVRs seem to get corrupted or freaked out by any little system change or channel issue that happens.
This also works for black screens with or without audio, channel switching issues. stuttering issues and sometimes will temporarily fix pixelation issues.  Pixelation issues usually are a sign the DVR hard drive is failing though.

  • Using keynote presentation on projector have had brief loss of signal

I have changed projector and iPad and still experience during keynote presentation a brief loss of signal to projector.
This happens at random and keynote presentation restarts on projector. Tried every source to help and followed all advice and it still
happens at random.  Can play a movie using same gear no problem at all; Please Help.

Please do not type in all caps, that is considered shouting on a public forum and also rude which I am sure is not your intent. I would also suggest reposting in the Keynot forum, that is where the Keynote gurus are likely to be.
    Good luck.

  • When converting from a .wav to a .mov is there a loss of audio quality when using QuickTime?

When converting from a .wav to a .mov is there a loss of audio quality when using QuickTime?

When converting from a .wav to a .mov is there a loss of audio quality when using QuickTime?
That would depend on your work flow. MOV is the generic QuickTime file container and is not related to any particular data compression format. If you perform a simple "Save" or "Save As..." action that merely copies the data in the WAV file to an MOV file, then the data remains unchanged and maintains its original quality. If, on the other hand, your transcode/re-compress the original data to a different compression format, then there is always the potential for some loss in quality. Depending on the codec and/or settings, the potential loss could be inaudible to severe.

  • Intermittent Loss of Audio

I rented Micheal Clayton on HD a couple of days ago (my second HD rental), noticed that the movie playback had intermittent loss of audio whether I set it to DD5.1 or not it made no difference.
The audio loss don't seem to happen at the same scene everytime I rewind and play it back all over again. It seems to happen at random scenes during the movie playback and several times there was no audio for nearly 5 to 10 seconds before it reappears and when I rewind and playback the same scene again, the audio seems to be alright for most parts?
I am wondering if any other users have had similar audio issues with rented movies from iTunes?
This is like my first rental movie which had issues with audio, the previous 3 or 4 rentals did not have any audio nor video issues. It's not my ATV unit either because movies and music videos which I already own, playback on it just fine in DD5.1 via Optical and HDMI. So the issue was just with that one movie which I rented then.
I am wondering how could one demand for a refund from Apple when faced with such problems or issues after the rented movie dissappears from your ATV 24 hours later??
Now I am feeling cautious to rent another movie, what if I have another issue with which ruins the movie experience?
I think I will stick with my PS3 and Blu-Ray for now.

Not sure but I thought I read in another issue that if you connect a TB cable from your Mini into the TB port on the display and the audio/video is OK then that would mean the built-in cable is bad.  I have never tried this so not sure it would work.  Hate to buy a TB cable just to  test because of cost.  The other way would be to take to Apple store and have them check the cable.  It contains miniture IC boards and one could be bad.

  • Loss of audio panning effects with timeline audio of Sync type "Stream"

I have a Flash animation which is loaded into a parent master Flash file. In the animation, there is voice audio embedded in the timeline which is synced with a character animation. The Sync type of the audio is set to Stream, which is essential for the mouth movements to match the audio. When I try to pan the voice audio so that it comes only out of the right speaker, it sounds fine during preview playback, but after publishing, all of the panning effects are lost. If I change the Sync type to "Event" or "Start", the panning effects work fine, but the audio is terribly out of sync with the animation.
The source audio is a mono audio file. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. I've tried changing the publish settings for both the parent and the child animation Flash files to be Speech, Mp3 mono, Mp3 Stereo and just about every other option, with no desirable results. I have also tried publishing and running the animation without loading it through the parent file, also no results.
Is there some kind of rule in Flash about Stream versus Event audio and panning? Do I need to use a stereo audio source file? I don't currently have access to the original audio files, but I can get them. Are all Stream type sounds automatically converted to mono at runtime or something??
Thank you thank you thank you

According to the Adobe installation information the trial version of Premiere Elements 11 is fully functional and the watermark is only present until a licence code is purchased.
I have edited AVI footage from a camcorder using the program with no problems (and no loss of audio sync) and the watermark is also present with this.
The odd placement of audio and video was caused by my not dragging the clip carefully enough.
What is odd is that the clip plays completely normally using WIndows Media Player and VLC Media player so I would expect Premiere Elements to be able to handle it without problems.
I think that there is some sort of bug in Premiere Elements' handling of mpe4 files (both in versions 10 and 11) rather than there being anything wrong with my computer.
Is there some way of communicating this directly to the Adobe programers ?

  • Exported Final Cut XML from Imovie09 causes loss of Audio Sync

I have recently upgraded to ILife09 and tried a process that always worked in ILife08 but now get Audio Sync problems.
I have created an Imovie project that is 2hours and 50 mins long and wanted to export it to Final Cut Express as XML. This used to work 100% with Imovie08. However, with this latest version of Imovie, when exported to Final Cut Express, the first 45 mins of the XML movie is well out of sync (Audio / Visual).
    Has anyone experienced this?

    Hi Roberic,
there is a bug in iMovie '09 that causes loss of audio sync when you use custom slow/fast motion. This has been experienced by many users. See for example this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9152271
I don't know if this applies to exports to .xml but it could well be that your problem lies here. There are some workarounds, being the easiest one to only use what the slow motion slider snaps to instead of entering custom speed percentages.

  • Loss of audio sync when importing Samsung Galaxy 2 (GT-I1900) video to Premier Elements 10

I am loosing audio sync when I import video from a Samsung Galaxy 2 GT-I1900 phone even when using settings chosen by Premier Elements 10.
The file plays OK in Windows 7 media player.
I have tried using both direct import from the phone and transferring the file separately without solving the problem.
The Premier Elements is version 10.0(20110902.Mol11.B123.280463)
Unlinking the audio and video makes no difference.
VideoReDo reports the file as :

Letting VideoReDo simply rewrite the file resulted in loss of all but the first few seconds of audio.

The computer motherboard is a Gigabyte Z68x-UD3H-B3 with an Intel Core i5-2500 CPU at 3.30GHz. Memory is 4GB.
I note that others have had similar problems with non video recorder recordings.
Can you suggest any file conversion of the original that will work – I have tried several with no improvement in the final result.
And can anyone shed light on what is the basic cause of these problems?

  • Rewinding or FFWDing Media Center TV sometimes results in TV Window blacking and loss of audio

I recently reinstalled Win 7 SP 1 Home Premium 32 bit and I'm still experiencing the subject problem that prompted the reinstall.
I'll be watching live TV with no problems and then decide to rewind a bit by clicking the rewind button a few times (the more times I click and the more rapidly, the more likely this problem seems to occurr) and the Media Center TV screen/window will sometimes
'smoothly' go black also sometimes with a loss of audio. The timer shows TV playback is still occurring and then after a while - 5 ~20 seconds, the picture and then eventually, the sound, return. This occurs both in Windowed or Full Screen TV viewing.
    My system details are:
Intel DG45ID Motherboard with E8500 Core2 Duo 3.16 GHz CPU and using onboard G45 Graphics
    4 GB (2 x 2GB) of compatible Corsair DDR2 RAM
Compro Technology E900F TV Card (receiving just DVB-T UK Freeview broadcasts)
4 x 1 TB Samsung HDDs configured in a 2 TB RAID 0+1 Array using native board functionality
All the latest drivers are installed correctly - chipset, TV card, Grahics, Audio and Intel RST as well as ME software etc. I've also tested with both Playready installed and not installed - with no difference.
Does anyone know whats causing this or workarounds to cure it please?

    Hello Niki,
Many thanks for your reply and that very interesting link. I've reviewed that workaround more deeply and it seems to stop the screen blacking/loss of audio problem but according to one of the threads that it originated from here:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-tv/losing-soundpicture-when-rewinding-live-tv-in/6e0f575a-4bed-4248-9cac-a6392b7b6d16 , the 'fix' also disables MHEG 5 Functionality, which for me, as a UK user of the BBC Red Button and other
interactive services, is NOT acceptable. The BBC have recently ceased their Ceefax (Teletext) service which has been superceded by the red button MHEG-5 based service so bug free MHEG-5 is our only option.
I see that the other thread I linked to has had no official comment from Microsoft - as a Moderator here (clearly someone with connections/influence at Microsoft to at least some degree) will you kindly pass this up the chain to be fully and properly addressed
please Niki? Otherwise maybe someone who is responsible for this field at Microsoft would care to comment here (and over on that other Microsoft thread that's been awaiting their input for some time)??
    I realise that
MHEG 5 , despite being an international standard, isn't utilised all around the world (notably not in the USA) so I hope this doesn't affect Microsofts prioritisation of providing a proper fix to this issue.

  • Keynote to iDVD: loss of audio in slide show

I have made a slide show on Keynote with music from iTunes. I export it to iDVD and it works fine from the computer while in iDVD. When I burn the disc, the music from the Keynote slideshow is missing although musc that I have added to menus does play. I want to use the Keynote slideshow and not transfer it to iMovie then iDVD because of loss of quality. I do not want to use the slideshow from iDVD because Keynote provides more opprtunities for effects in the slide show as well as clearer text. I think the problem has something to do with the fact that when I export, on my desktop is a copy of the slideshow AND a copy of the soundtrack.mov. How can I get them together? THANKS!!!

Thanks for the help but I faced the same problem as others with iMovie. Also I am trying to avoid the use of iMovie because the final product, a QT from iMovie, is not as clear visually as an import from Keynote - graphics are a lot muddier. I would have to agree that, as much as I LOVE Keynote, the inability to simply export a slide show with audio intact certainly is a problem with Keynote.
    Also disappointed,
    Jim

  • Intermittent Sound Loss (SFX & Audio)

Hi gang, I have an odd problem with intermittent sound loss (button SFX + audio) on my brand new ATV2 (HDMI to HDMI on a 2 year old Phillips 42"). The picture is great, but the audio only works about 50% of the time. (?!) I'm totally stumped. I did some troubleshooting. Restart, Reset, Restore. No dice. I swapped the cable and tried different HDMI ports — to no avail. I also spent an hour on the phone with an Apple tech. We did everything again and we turned off Dolby, etc. No dice. He suggested I bring the device into the Apple store, and they swapped it out for me. But I'm having the same problem with the new device — and AGAIN only 50% of the time. It seems totally arbitrary. Very frustrating. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Did you try restarting your TV, the problem may be there.
(I have a tv that starts to drop audio occasionally, although a restart of the tv will resolve the matter it does return perhaps weeks/months later)

  • Loss of audio after upgrade os x 10.7.5, reset PRAM, SMS, updated software and other recommendations i could find. Master volume sliders inactive in Audio Midi section. Can see sound bar responding it input on line in but is not being internally routed.

Recently upgrade to OS x 10.7.5 resulted in loss of what appears to be internal communication of line in audio, and output. Have tired several remedies including resetting PRAM, SMS, updating all software, multiple Sound and Audio Midi applications adjustments to no avail. Also no audio is recognized on USB mixing board I tried as well, though Audio USB Codec was displayed. THe master volume sliders and other options are greyed out on Audio Midi application whn I try to troubleshoot that. Nothing external will play through computer speakers, but internal sounds and iTunes play normally.I made sure the audio sampling rates were default. Software issue or soundcard/hardware failure.?..Pullin my hair out!

Might be corrupted sound preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy paste the following;
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Click Go then move both .plist files from the Audio folder to the Trash.
    com.apple.audioDeviceSettings.pllist
    com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
Restart your Mac. See if that made a difference ...

  • Loss of audio sync

I use FC Pro 5.0.4 with the video card Digital Voodoo D1 64 RT (driver 7.5) and with the sound card AES-32 of RME, because in the past I've had problems with the audio section of Voodoo (many pops and clicks). Both are connected to a Leitch SPG-1601, one to BB out and the other to word clock out. The capture is OK but when I edit to tape I have a random loss of sync of 2 or 3 frames, the audio comes first than video. When I edit to tape FC PRO show me this warning:
The selected audio and video devices may not match:
    - Digital Voodoo.....
    - Hammerfall DSP AES-32
Please verify that the audio and video outputs are externally routed to the intended device(s). Do you want to proceed?
The settings on the RME for me are correct and also on the Voodoo.
I don't know what to do. Please help me.

It appears it occurs when you use an external monitor. If you turn the monitor off it syncs up.

  • Loss of Audio and Browser / OS Crashes (Panasonic CF-52 Toughbook - MK3)

Recently (past day or so) I have noticed a loss of all audio (Internal Speaker and External Headphone Jack). All indications that audio is being processed internally by the audio card as in all cases the metering for differing functions is active in correspondence
with the test sounds or music that is being played with no audio being played on the speakers or earphone jack.
Also after reading much on this being a common difficulty... I attempted a system rollback which was not successful through multiple restore points to when the OS was built.
I have tried removal of the audio drivers (All) and allowed the OS to re-install at re-boot which had so far not restored any audio to be heard. Close assessment of the audio at full volume did not reveal any noise or decreased audio. Also, upon reboot the
audio indicator in the lower right tray repeatedly initializes in a muted condition. Even with unmuting this does not restore the audio.
Another observation. This morning I upgraded to the latest build. Upon the OS stabilizing from the post build upgrade to the latest, the equipment was able to access the network / Internet. Upon initializing either IE Explorer OR Mozilla Firefox  without
displaying any target webpage the OS would crash and self reboot each time. I then rolled back to the previous OS Build.

  • Keynote to Quicktime to Vimeo = loss of audio

I created a Keynote presentation that included a voice narration and a videon clip with audio. When I export the presentation to QuickTime it works fine with both the narration throughout and the video audio at the right time. When I upload to Vimeo or my WordPress site I lose my voice narration but the Quicktime still has the movie audio in that brief clip. Any idea why I lose the narration audio? Thanks!

Which version of Keynote are you using, the cause is deferent in the various versions.

  • Loss of Audio

I live in Northern VA and recently switched from DirecTV to FIOS.  So far I am happy with the switch, but I am having audio issues with two channels.  The channels are both for MASN (77 and 1526).
    Here is my equipment
    - Motorola DVR
    - LG Plasma TV
    - Monster HDMI cable connecting the two
    Issue:
I get audio just fine every channel I get except 77 and 1526.  When I go to either of these channels there is no audio.  Furthermore, after viewing one of these two channels, I loss audio on every other channel.  I have found that I can recover from this by either switching to another TV input and then back to the HDMI input, or going into the TV audio options and turning off and then back on my speakers.  Regardless I never have audio on 77 and 1526.
    Things I have tried:
    1. Another HDMI cable - same problem
    2. Plugging into another HDMI port on my TV - same problem
    3. Component cables for video and RCA cables for audio - I have sound on channels 77 and 1526 and every channel afterwards.
    3. Had the HDMI cable connected from FIOS receiver to TV and then the audio of my TV connected to my home theater receiver via fiber cable.  I turned off the speakers on the TV and played the audio through the home theater.  I had audio on channels 77 and 1526.
    4. Verified this problem only exists on these two channels.  No other channel I have this problem with.
5 Reading the TV manual and turned off all the special audio functionality still using HDMI cable for sound- same problem
So it seems that my issue only occurs when I try to play the audio through the HDMI.  What I don't understand is why it only occurs on these two channels and then why it knocks out sound to all the other channels.  When I was with DirecTV I got both these channels and got sound perfectly.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
