Bright white speck under screen... HELP?

Its been about 4 days now, I cannot get this tiny speck to go away.. It shows up really bad on a white screen. Will Apple exchange it for a good one with no problem? I love my phone, and this speck is killing me!

i saw a thread in here sometime last week with a person having the same issue. he took it back to the apple store and they deemed it defective and gave him a replacement on the spot. so i suggest you make an appt at the apple store and have them check it.

  • Bright White Pixels on Screen / Apple Replacement

Thought this might be useful to others. Bought a new MacPro 13" fully maxed out about 6 months ago. My second Apple, first one is a PowerBook that is 7 years old and still kicking. Anyway, I noticed in the bottom left hand corner, about 6-7 pixels (size of a pea) would turn bright white on certain white web pages. Sort of anoyed me and who knows if it would get worse. Knowing how expensive Apple products are to fix and the fact that is was still under warranty I brought to my Apple store in Philadelphia, PA.
Tech took one look at it and said they would relace the screen. According this forum, others have had same issue, was a defective screen sourced from, I think Samsung.
3 hours later, Tech calls me and says, "while we had you computer open, we noticed you also have a defective motherboard and memory!" Wow, am I glad I brought this baby in because I was on the fence about it. He said Apple would replace the entire computer with a brand new one, swapped out my 500GB hard drive for me and gave me a new 1 year warranty.
I was also on the fence about buying the Apple Care extended warranty, but now I plan on buying it in 11 or so months. At least I am glad that Apple stand behind their products, as they should for the price we pay. Hope this helps others.

I had the same thing, a macbook pro bought in may 2010. I noticed a bright spot on the screen two weeks ago, really only visible when a light background behind the spot. I took it in and they said, yah we will replace the screen.
I called a week later, having been told that the replacement screen was in stock and that it would be done in a few days, figuring it must be done and they haven't called. They wouldn't give me any information over the phone except that a part that was defective needed to be ordered... I had to go into the store for them to tell me that they found that the logic board was defective as the problem was not fixed by replacing the screen. Oh and by the way the mic cable was messed up so that needed to be replaced too...
Needless to say, I am frustrated because they won't have the new logic board for a week or more, and did not bother to call me and let me know that they were making more (unauthorized by me) repairs, and I am out from my computer for more time.
Reading your post, I am wondering why they didn't just switch out the hard drive and give me a new computer as they are replacing the guts of it anyways and mine looks brand new - it never leaves my desk or its furry incase!
Not to mention, now I will have new parts with no new warranty and what is to say that these things won't be defective and manifest themselves in another seven months when it is beyond its original 1 year warranty.
What is the defect in the logic board that causes a bright spot on the screen????? and why did no one bother to call me to authorize all of this! It looks like this is actually a known common problem, so why does apple not extend the warranty on the parts they are replacing to cover them for their first year knowing they very well might fail again?!
I love my computer and paid the big bucks to make the switch to apple, I guess I expect more from the customer service and the tech end of the company...

The white squares are caused by the 2em of padding-left in ul.MenuBarHorizontal li. Remove the padding, and replace it with margin-left: 2em.

  • My ipod touch screen has gone white with bright white spots, I have restored it but it is still white.  It shows in ITunes but I cant do anything with it.  Can anyone help please

My Ipod touch screen has gone white with bright white spots on it.  I have restored it and it shows in ITunes but the screen is still white.  Is there anything I can do? The warranty has run out so I will have to pay for any repairs (if it can be repaired).  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

If you still have problems after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod then you very likely have a hardware problem.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My ipod touch screen has turned white. the screen has turned bright white. it is not going by reseting also. when  i  shift screens then it leaves a trail and i dont know what to do. please help.

my ipod touch screen has turned bright white. the things are visible but partially and when shift the screen it leaves trails behind. i dont know what to do help please.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Mountain lion really bright white screen on boot?

Since I installed Mountain Lion I can't seem to get rid of the really bright white screen with Apple logo at bootup.
I RESET the PRAM and it will work for one boot and then go back to the really bright screen burning my irises out.
It can't be the battery because my computer keeps the time and date correctly.
I have also checked the STARTUP Disc and that is working right too. I even tried redoing permissions through Disk Utility and that didn't help.
Anyone have any ideas on this one?
    Thanks.

Anyone have a answer to this?

  • Bright White Screen.

My Ipod Nano was working fine. I turned it off, and went to bed. The next morning I got up and turned it on. All that showed was a bright white screen. I reset it a couple of times, I pluged it up to the USB port, and I let it die completely. None of those things helped to fix my Ipod. It was not dropped and it did not get wet. All I did was set it down. When plugged up to the computer the computer will recognize it, but then it won't, yet after that it accepts it again. Does anybody have any words of wisdom? Does anybody think Apple will fix it?

    Try this:
When your iPod comes up with the white screen, hold the center and menu buttons simultaneously until the screen goes black, then immediately hold the center and left (rewind) buttons. A menu should come up that shows you a few options. If this menu comes up, it might just mean that your internal storage is dead. If nothing comes up, then you might have a total hardware failure. If it is just the storage, the repair should cost less than buying a new nano or having an Apple Genius go in and repair multiple components. You might be able to attempt the repair yourself, but I really do not recommend that.

  • Bright white dots on iPhone 4s screen

3 months ago, I bought the Apple iPhone 4s via Three UK. It was a brand new contract phone.
About a week ago, the phone developed a bright white spot in the middle of the screen, white is very noticeable.I had not dropped the phone at all. Then, a few days ago, another bigger but not as bright dot appeared on the screen. What is this and how can it be fixed? I believe the iPhone is in its warranty, but I'm not sure what the problem is. I have also noticed that the phone is freezing lots, and is randomly re booting. Yesterday, the phone was not making any calls in full bar areas.
    Thanks in advance,
    bainb8248

First, try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not help, set it up as new device, explained here:
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If still no luck, get it checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or contact Apple Support to get it serviced:

  • IPhone frozen/no brightness/white screen

So yesterday it start with my iphone telling me that I needed to connect to iTunes and restore because I couldn't make or receive calls. I reset it, and seemed OK. I later tried to play doodle jump, which crashed upon opening, so I reinstalled it to no avail. I discovered this morning that wasn't just doodle jump, but all 3rd party apps. It also went through stages of not turning on, telling me to restore it, and still having an image on the screen but there was absolutely no brightness to it, and instead of the screen going black when I press the sleep button on top, I would get a bright white screen. Giving up on resets, I came home from school and restored it, and it worked perfectly. Now it's 5.5 hours later and it just froze, unfroze, and had no brightness. I reset it, and now it wont turn on.
    Any suggestions? Thanks

  • How do I back up my MacBook Pro from an external hard drive if my macbook won't boot up from the white start up screen? HELP!

I went to the Genius Bar a week ago, and the guy helping me there was nice enough to help me save some money by telling me I could replace the bad hard drive my MacBook Pro had by myself. I bought everything I needed (hard drive, screws, external hard drive) and my computer won't boot past the white start up screen. It doesn't even show the Apple sign at the start up screen. How do I back up my computer so I can save all my music, school files, etc.? Could really use someone's advice on what to do! Thanks!

Ok, to be sure I understand what's going on. You were able to boot the Macbook from the existing "damaged" internal drive, and it has been backed up to the internal.
If that is correct, your internal drive is working. Just to be sure, try booting with the R key down. Then run Disk Utility to repair the internal drive. That drive may in fact be useable.
You should be aware that you cannot boot the MBP from a Time Machine back up.
Please post back so I am sure I am understanding the situation.

  • Watching Movies: iPod to TV- black and white and split screen. Help?

    I have this cable: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2994604
As you can see, the chord colors on that cable are red, green, and white. The places where the chords go in on my DVD player are yellow, red, and white. As you can tell, they don't go up. I connected them so the audio works fine, but the movie shows up ONLY in black and white, and the screen is split right down the middle. On my iPod, the 'Video Setting' do not fix this. I also have the iPod Classic 80 GB, for reference.
    Help?

Toggle between PAL and NTSC on video setting.
