Brightness graphic is corrupted

I recently noticed the graphic that displays the screen brightness is corrupted. The screen brightness still works correctly though. Should I try to get this fixed? I'm thinking it doesn't affect anything important.
Yosemite 10.10.1 on a 2013 Macbook Pro.

Hi Vic,
A: Support for advanced graphics operations such as path for curvers and lines, alpha blending, antialiasing, patterns and transformations was added to SWT 3.1. On Windows, GDI+  is required. On X Windows platforms (i.e. GTK and Motif), Cairo 0.4.0 is required. If your Windows platform does not have GDI+ by default then you can download  a redistributable package from Microsoft.
Source: http://www.eclipse.org/swt/faq.php#nographicslibrary
It looks like your OS is missing the GDI+ library which can be obtained via the SWT site (see link above).
Best regards,
Martin

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.

  • 10.5 Dock and Menulette graphics are corrupted by running some games.

10.5 Dock and Menulette graphics are corrupted by running games like Diablo 2 and The Sims.
<http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/5324/corrupteddockandmenuletpk1.png> Notice the open stack is just grey bars. The icons and names are not showing.
Anyone else encountered this? Quitting and relaunching the Finder and/or Dock doesn't solve this. Only a restart.
    TIA,
    Jamie Kahn Genet
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

My computer does the same thing except I don't have any games on my mac. I've never noticed something that causes it to happen, but it usually seems to happen after I wake mine from sleep. On mine usually the "glass" part of the dock disappears and then sometime after that the stacks will stop working.

  • Kernel panics, graphic file corruption with Firewire

I've been having consistent problems with Firewire since I got my Mac Pro last year. I only recently narrowed it down to Firewire so I thought I'd write it up here for the record.
I never actually solved the problem, just started using USB-2 instead and the issues went away.
--I had been getting pretty consistent kernel panics while doing backups or large file transfers to an external FW drive. I tried a few different drives and cables and the panics were consistent.
--I also noticed a strange problem where graphic files I'd backed up (TIFF, JPEG, etc.) would have these single-pixel horizontal streaks running through them. This was a little disconcerting because it wasn't picked up during verification, it was just there when I opened the backup file.
I found lots of people with FW problems in these forums but none mentioned that strange file corruption I got.
I'll try FW again after a future system software upgrade but I'm giving up on it for now.

  • MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC: Graphical Glitches/Corruption

Hello, I bought and installed an MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC video card one week ago. For the last week, it has been running perfectly, but today when I started up a game the 3D graphics began glitching and showing random stretched triangles and distorted models. While the 3D graphics are running, the monitor randomly loses signal from the video card and occasionally the program will crash with a popup bubble stating that the NVIDIA driver has recovered from a problem.
After reading through some posts here, I downloaded the MSI Afterburner program, enabled voltage monitoring, and set everything to defaults.
    The defaults are:
    Core Voltage: 1000 mV
    Core Clock : 880 MHz
    Shader Clock : 1760 MHz
    Memory Clock : 2100 MHz
When I click the button to run a Kombuster stability test, the 3D has the same graphical glitches that I saw in my games. Here is a screenshot:
    http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww333/MP64x2/corrupted_880.jpg
I tried lowering the Core Clock speed and retrying the test. It appears that the level of corruption is proportional to the clock speed. At the minimum clock speed of 440 MHz, the graphics are almost perfect, however a glitch or two will still occasionally show up.
Here is the test at Core Clock = 705 MHz: http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww333/MP64x2/corrupted_705.jpg
    and at 440 MHz: http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww333/MP64x2/corrupted_440.jpg
    - I've tried bumping up the Core Voltage a little to around 1020 mV, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.
    - Lowering the Memory Clock also reduces glitches, but they never go away completely.
    - Even at the absolute minimum clock settings, my games still glitch and crash.
    - I do not have access to another system that I can try the video card in.

As I type this I'm starting to get corruption right on my desktop too, with random pixels changing color and black rectangles appearing on applications.
From what I've read in other threads, it seems like my power supply may not be sufficient since it has multiple 12V rails, but before I spend ~$100 on a new one I thought I'd see if anyone had any other thoughts.

I have an interesting update on my original problem.
A week after I reseated the card, the graphical glitches returned. I turned the computer off, reseated the card again, turned it on, and it began working fine.
Another week goes by with no problems, and then a couple days ago the glitches came back. Thinking it strange that the card could somehow take approximately the same amount of time to cause the same kind of bad connection, I wondered if there was something else that was causing the glitches to temporarily disappear.
I tried rebooting my computer, but the glitches remained.
I then completely turned off my computer and pulled out the power cord and left it for a couple minutes. I didn't open the case at all and made sure not to do anything that would bump any components. I turned the computer back on - glitches are gone once again.
So, it would seem that it may in fact have something to do with the power supply and not any bad connections with the card itself - at least, that's the best guess I have at the moment. I leave my computer on 24/7 so it seems like it doesn't like being left on for an entire week with this new video card installed.
Does this sound sensible? Is it possible for a power supply to slowly fail over several days, only to start working again after being powered down for a couple minutes?
Did you ever figure your issue out?  I have the exact same issue.  My system runs fine for almost a week...and then my desktop starts artifacting.  The only way it goes away is to unplug my pc (or flip the switch on PSU).  Then it runs again perfectly for nearly a week again and I start getting artifacts and the message stating that the graphics driver has stopped working and then recovered.
I also run my pc 24/7 and this problem is getting very annoying!  My PSU shouldn't be a problem as I have the PC & Cooling 750W...
Oh...almost forgot.  I've seen the same issue on 2 video cards now.  RMA'd the first one and the second one does the exact same thing...

  • W520 graphics/visual corruption

    Hi folks
So I have visual error/corruption and I'm assuming its something to do with the graphics card/s on the machine.
It appears across various applications, word, powerpoint, thunderbird, spotify, photoshop, acid pro and some others...
see these images for an example.

i seem to get random drop out on the interface of the respective piece of software at the time it is running,
it doesnt always happen and perhaps a day may go by with no problems.... but then it comes back
chunks of the interface will double-up or disappear and scrolling over often makes invisible bits reappear.
Minimizing then re-maximizing the app often refreshes it and it goes back to normal or in thundirbird saving the open email composition will bring the text back into alignment and make it all legible again....
i have updated my drivers on both the onboard graphics and the Nvidia Quadro 2000M
    with no joy or luck.
i cant seem to pinpoint what it may be
    any ideas anyone
or is/has anyone experienced the same problems?

    Adlib:
I think you might want to do a bit more troubleshooting, to narrow down the cause of the problem, before attempting to take action to solve the problem.
Unless someone else has had prior experience with exactly this problem and can provide a 'magic bullet' solution, I think you should go into the BIOS and set the machine to run exclusively on the discrete graphics, and then see if the problem persists.  Then, after sufficient experience with that modality, try setting the machine to run exclusively on integrated graphics and see if the problem persists.
If nothing else, that will allow you to narrow the problem down to one of the two graphics modes.
You might also want to consider going into the 'Power Manager' and setting the machine up as 'High Performance' to ensure that no energy-saving initiatives are muddying the waters.

  • Graphics Drivers corrupted

I need to know how to reinstall the correct graphics drivers with my macbook pro... somehow they were corrupted while I was trying to use wine with xquarts.. I would normally know how to do this, however, the screen is totally unreadable when starting up... When using the disk I can boot from it and things look normal, just wondering how to actually reinstall the drivers. I could ssh into it from my ubuntu. but I don't have ssh allowed currently.
Any help other then reinstalling the whole OS would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Sorry for double posting but...
I've discovered that while booted into the install disk, I can use the terminal and go into my hard drive, if I only knew where the Drivers were, and how to install new ones, I'd be set. I use the terminal a lot, but usually on straight linux boxes.

  • Graphics are corrupted with windows after playing WoW.

    Hello,
I have a bought new Macbook and up until recently, it has been completely problem free. Recently though, I have had a few issues regarding some slight graphics corruption on windows and software.
For example the edges of the windows on Preview.
    http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn77/mrmalachai/Picture1-1.png
These graphical disturbances seem to come about after I play WoW and seem to disappear again after a quick restart, but I just wondering what might be causing it and if it is something I should worry about.
Is there any way to prevent these strange graphical disruptions?
    I would appreciate any feedback.
    Thanks guys.
    S.

You should be searching using Google or going into a WoW forum because it's an issue caused by WoW. It seems to be rare because lots of people play WoW and I've never heard this before.

  • Graphic Frames Corrupted When Exporting to PDF

I'm trying to figure out what is happening to random graphic frames in my InDesign document.  I'm working in a 68 page document.  I exported to PDF using the lo-res no bleed setting.  The PDF exported fine but when I went back to my InDesign doc, some of my graphic frames had changed to blank white frames.  The links still appeared on the links panel but it showed them as on the pasteboard.  When I clicked the PB link to view the object, it zoomed in to a tiny object in the gutter of the spread.  When I tried to enlarge the object, I got an error saying the object would leave the pasteboard.  I then looked in the control panel and all the coordinates and measuremends said NaN.  I'm working with InDesign CS 5.5 version 7.5.3 on OS X Lion version 10.7.3.  The frames contained either placed PSD files or placed PDF files.  It seems to have affected random frames on various pages.  I've spent 3 hours searching Google and these forums but haven't found a similar post.  This is a brand new system that has been in production for less than two weeks.  I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks
    Jack

I stupidly started trying to figure out what was going on rather than immediately doing a save as and within about 3 minutes InDesign crashed. When I relaunched and reopened my document, not only were my graphic frames still messed up but all of the content on about 5 other pages were completely gone, frames and all. This is the weirdest thing that I've ever seen in InDesign. I understand the concept of NaN. I just mentioned it because it seemed like part of the problem. Thanks for your reply.  What makes this even more interesting is that this isn't the first time that I've seen this. About 6 months ago, I saw the same issue happen to another user on another machine. At that time we couldn't really track down any details because the document was last accessed at the end of the day on a Friday and we didn't figure it out until Monday morning. The only thing that the two workstations have in common is that the documents and resources were stored on the same server. Could it be an issue with using InDesign files stored remotely vs locally?

  • Graphics Issue - Corruption

Can anyone explain to me what the image located at the following link is and how to remedy it? It happens intermittently.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1356749/IMG_1718.jpg
It seems like some type of corruption and has happened while using EyeTV and otherwise sporadically.

    Hello JSP196
Short of recommending that you uninstall EyeTV and reinstall the OS X, there not much we can do to help you here.
Your best bet is to get it into service ASAP and have it checked out.

  • Cmd tab graphics are corrupted! but why?

When I use cmd+tab to switch applications, I have been getting the following, for a few days now:
This is from a fresh start with no apps running. It still functions properly and when I release cmd to change app, the colours return to normal for the fade.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
    Thanks!
    Joe

This happened to me last night too.
I was also having problems with my iphoto thumbnails too though. But I'd been having this problem for a while. I rebuilt all my thumbnails, and restarted my computer.
After the restart, the cmd+tab icons got fixed!

  • Graphics corrupted / garbled display on Core Duo MacBook Pro (ATI)

My first-generation (Core Duo) MacBook Pro (with ATI chipset) is having video problems.
When this happens, the graphics become corrupted / display becomes garbled and the computer freezes shortly afterwards making it basically unusable. You can just about follow a garbled mouse pointer around, but it is unresponsive.
The only solution is a hard reset (power button for seven seconds).
    Has anyone encountered this problem?
At first, I suspected that the computer was overheating as it seemed to occur only after prolonged use - but in the past two days, it could freeze immediately at login screen basically making it completely unusable.
Apple Hardware Test (on original CD) says "No Problems Found", but I still suspect hardware trouble as this only began occuring a week or so after my computer had the left fan replaced (it stopped working after an earlier problem in January at the Apple Store in Highcross Leicester.
I suspect something ELSE is wrong and that it requires service again, so am planning to go to the store in Birmingham on Sunday (which is closer to me -- I went to the Leicester store last time). What should I ask Apple to look at? The graphic corruption occurs even when running right off the Leopard CD, or even on the Apple Hardware Test!

Hi - thanks for your help with the issue. Just as an update, I brought my Mac in for service on the 8th February at the Apple Store Bullring – and oddly, it worked perfectly in the Store. However, I showed them this thread and the pictures they had – and they replaced the logic board and apparently it's one of the costliest parts ever possible to place, shockingly expensive that it's like the cost of a new laptop! However as it's under AppleCare (well, higher education parts and labour warranty) it was covered. Phew!
I got my Mac back today, and so far, it appears to be working perfectly (though as the graphic problems were intermittent, I'm making sure I do backups!), and fingers crossed, I should now have a working Mac once again!

  • Nouveau causes corrupted graphics

Hello there, I recently installed arch linux.
I have GeForce4 MX 440 [NV17] and til now I had no problems with my other distros [gentoo, debian/ubuntu, slackware]
The driver for this card was supposed to be at the package nvidia-96xx but recently it was removed, so I had to install the nouveau driver instead.
    And so I did.
The module loads ok but when I enter X, the graphics are corrupted a bit.
Using the option noaccel=1 or shadowfb "on" fixes the problem, but I have no acceleration, causing games like teeworlds to load reaally slow. [Assuming my thinking is right]
Can I do anything about that?
I tried to install the official nvidia drivers but I have kernel 3 and there are other problems with that.
I have xf86-video-nouveau-0.0.16_git20110726-1 (I also tried other versions of nouveau but none of them worked).
    Please help!

If it means anything, I think all NVIDIA drivers have been buggy as of Kernel 3, since I have an NVIDIA Southbridge that handles my integrated sound and it appears to be malfunctioning.  It may need to be patched by the maintainers of the OSS NVIDIA drivers.
