Brightness of the screen

I have an iMac with latest updates and disc permission always done.
However, whenever I restart the computer the brightness of the screen is almost all the way down. I always have to go to the prefs and crank it up again.
Is there a way to fix this?

See if this helps from the Help Menu.
If the images on your display are too light or too dark, you can adjust the display’s brightness.

Use the brightness control keys. On portable computers, they’re usually the F1 and F2 function keys. On some computers, they’re the F14 and F15 function keys.

The display automatically adjusts its brightness to match the current lighting level.

Check the documentation that came with your display to find out how to control its brightness.
Depending on the type of display connected to your computer, the Display pane of Displays preferences may contain a Contrast slider that you can use to adjust the display’s contrast.

Adjusting the sound and brightness of the screen

In SL i could hold down "shift" and "alt" and then adjust the soundvolume and brightness of the screen mucth more accurate. I have tryed the same thing in Lion, but nothing happends. I can adjust normaly, but I can't adjust it quite as accurate.
Anyone know how to fix? Different keybindings in Lion?

Sounds like that's everything you need to solve your problem.

Look in System Preferences > Displays
See if the brightness is locked.

If you can't enter the passcode then you have to place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore the iPod via iTunes. For ecovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
Note that this requires using the sleep/wake button. If you are not successful then there is nothing else that I know you can do.

If you can log in blindly or using the flashlight method, it is possible your screen brightness somehow got set all the way to nothing. I don't have my Macbook with me right now to test it out but I believe it may not be possible to adjust the brightness at the log-in screen so you have to be able to log in first (though I could be wrong on that).

Can any one help me.
The Home Key on my X22 thinkpad is die.
And the problem are: I press Fn+End many time to decrease the brightness of my screen.
Now, It very hard to see anything in my screen.
Is there any software to swap the Home Key to other key, so i can use the Fn+(new Home key) to increase my LCD screen.

Brightness of the screen automatically reduced

Since some time ago, i realized some strange behaviour of my laptop: Whenever i unplug it and work on battery, the screen turns darker.... so far, this was normal.. but the strange thing is that i increase the brightness level manually... and after some seconds not touching the keyboard or not moving the mouse, the brightness decreases automatically again....
I think is not any option that can be customized via any menu, so i want to ask if this is normal, and if anyone has any clue on how to make the system not decrease the brightness automatically after i restore the levels manually.

Those are probably stuck pixels and if so are a defect in the screen. If that is indeed the case, it's not something a user can fix. Call Apple Support or make an appointment at an Apple Store and discuss theproblem with them.

Laptop won't let me play any video or change the brightness of the screen at all.

I got this new Laptop a few months ago and it has just recently started to play up slightly and not let me change my brightness settings at all and now it won't let me play any videos.

I got a solution
First check out your performance settings and if u dont know where to find it just right click on my computer and enter to propreties then click on performance and tools, then if the gamming and desktop aero system are 1.0 then you have three solutions.
1) Install a new windows
2) check out your computer driver and install tge latest version
3) or simply you can download DRIVER PAC SOLUTION and install it then after installation is done you might wanna restart the system and check performance again then it should desplay NEW HARDWARE DETECT REFRESH NOW then click on refreah and the rating is gonna go up from1.0.to higher than 4.0.

Can't use F5 and F6 keys to adjust brightness of LCD screen

I just bought a new Macbook (first one ever, new to Mac). I can't adjust the brightness of the LCD screen with the Function keys. When I do it, the icon pops up in the middle of the screen showing that it is being adjusted, but it does not change the brightness of the screen. I have turned off the auto adjust based on ambient lighting feature, and still not working right. I can adjust it by going into system prefs, but I would like to be able to adjust it using the function keys... Can anyone help with this? Thanks!

I am an idiot... i was adjusting the brightness on the keyboard backlighting, not the lcd screen.... woops!

Welcome to the Support Communities! You can adjust the brightness of your screen using the Settings app, and also from the Control Center. Here is some information from the iPhone User Guide for iOS 8.
Adjust the screen brightness - iPhone
Adjust the screen brightness
Dim the screen to extend battery life, or use Auto-Brightness.
Adjust the screen brightness. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness, then drag the slider. If Auto-Brightness is on, iPhone adjusts the screen brightness for current light conditions using the built-in ambient light sensor. You can also adjust the brightness in Control Center.

How can I reduce the brightness of my screen?

I installed WIndows 7 on my MAC and after installing the boot camp drivers, the screen went really bright.
I reduced the brightness to the lowest setting on my keyboard, but it is still bright.
The problem is not so much on the graphics, its more on the brightness of the white background & black text.
How can I reduce the brightness?

Start menu > control panel > appearance & personalization > display > calibrate color
I would adjust the keyboard setting back to midway before calibrating, this way you have some flexibility to use that again.

Line on the screen of my ipod touch 4th gen. Starts left of the screen as a blue (bright backgr) or red (dark backgr) line becoming white halfway and going across screen. Any ideas/solutions?

I have an irritating line on the screen of my 4th gen ipod touch going left to right. It starts out as a blue line (with bright backgroung) or red line (with dark background). Switching backrounds will also switch the color of the line. Sometimes it stops halfway the screen. Sometimes the blue/red line becomes white somewhere halfway the screen and continuing as a white line to the other side of the screen. It mostly starts out as a normal screen and when using the blue/red line appears and when using some more the white part appears.Mostly in the beginning the line starts flickering and becomes more steady after a while.
I have searched on the internet but can only find info on some pixels acting weird (stuck/frozen/dead pixels). This is a whole line of pixels not doing what they are supposed to do.
Anyone an idea what this could be and how to solve it?

Did you ever fix this? My daughters is the same. Treated with tender loving care, we reset to factory and it disappeared but was back again after 2 or 3 days. Still in warranty so going to take to the genius bar, however a bit concerned that because it belongs to an 11 year old they are going to assume she's damaged it.

Okay before my ipod power and volume buttons werent working but i never dropped it, then one day i was in a app and my ipod froze so i held the home button down and the screen went a bright green color and isnt showing up in itunes

okay I just recently bought a ipod touch 4thG and im already having issues. recently the power and volume buttons stopped working after i syncd my ipod, i shrugged it off figuring it would come back i could live without it. but today I was on my ipod while it was charging and the screen just froze so i pressed and held the home button (being that's the only button that actually works) then the screen turned this bright yellowish lime green color and its not responding to ANYTHING! my computer isnt even reading it when i plug it up into itunes! so what should i do? can anyone help me? i feel like i just wasted $200...

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I'd take it into my local APple store and have them look at it. There may be something wrong inside your device.
