Brightness on iTouch

Just bought a new iTouch and running 2.2 Unlike my iPhone and other iTuch, the screen (after a minute or so) goes from crstal clear dark background to a grainy gray background - hard to see apps? I checked brightness with automatic both on/off and no changes to settings helped.
Any suggestions?

If you do a restore and the problem persists, return the iPod and get a new one.

My itouch is dark and the bright settings is not working.

Have you tried the standard fixes:
    - Rest:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes on your computer
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod

  • Help, my iTouch 5 is stuck on the highest brightness, with option for auto-brightness. I've tried restoring, restarting and rebooting.

This burns battery way too fast, causes it to heat up fast, and is overall incredibly annoying.

The 5G iPod does not a Autobrightness. It does not have an ambient light sensor.
See if the following will allow you to adjust the brightness
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • 2nd gen screen not as bright

I just got a new 2nd gen iTouch and the screen has a slight yellow/grey cast to it. Spent an hour at the apple store and although their demos are bright like my first gen (whites and blues are true), the new 2nd gen they pulled out of a box for me to compare also had the duller cast to it. There is no screen cover on, and we looked at both software versions-no difference-it's the unit itself. Has anyone else noticed this when going from a first gen to 2nd gen? Do some batches have better color than others?

This is normal. Apparently it was a conscious decision by Apple to make the colors "warmer". It is mentioned in this review from Macworld:

  • 2.1 for iTouch now , but not 4 iPhone? Having issues with the 2.1 iTouch!!

So I hope the 2.1 experience I am having with my iTouch, isn't a foreshadow of what is going to happen to me Friday?
iTouch is bombing out & not restoring, but before that I was getting a message I needed iTunes 7.7.1 (which I have) then it was not able to update to 2.1 on the iTouch. Maybe it's a good thing I have to wait till Friday, my iPhone I need for work, my iTouch is a toy. "Bricking" it I can wait on Apple, "Bricking" my iPhone customers can't call me... Dooah!

Sadly, I would bet money that it is. I know I'll be holding off the iPhone upgrade until I see how many phones it bricks.
I, too, am having trouble with the touch update. It says I have an update available, but when I click the iTunes8 update button, I get the error message
There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "J's 32GB iPod touch". The requested resource was not found.
I guess I should look on the bright side - better a download that won't than an iPod that won't.

my Ipad and itouch cannot be connected ti wireless router tried changing setting still cannot connect

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Ready to Launch my Itouch

Okay im about ready to launch my I-touch into space. I am running an app called 5.0 police scanner (extra feeds) my problem is that every 30mins or so the app stops working and goes blank and i get the itouch menu. To save the battery i hit the button on top of the itouch after launching the app. But if i leave it on and plugged into my computer the app will run until i turn it off. Im not sure if it's the app, the wi-fi modem, or the Itouch. I have reset the Itouch I have installed and uninstalled the app at least 3 times and i have contacted the app maker and was told to hit background mode and that put that app into quicktime and still i keep loosing connection after 30mins or so.
So im at a loss. any1 have such problems and if so how do i fix it.
    Thanks!!

It has been my experience that, if the screen goes off, shortly thereafter, anything that requires constant connection will shut off. Set the scree to a low brightness but so that it stays on all the time and you should be fine.

  • Itouch will not charge since upgraded to 2.0

I have had my itouch 8GB version since April have been charging it via USB port on laptop.
However since upgrading to firmware verson 2.0 the battery life seemed to drain very quickly and now doesnt charge at all.
I have done a restore via itunes , have rebooted the itouch (home and on/off button). Reset all data and settings and set up as a new ipod in itunes but the itouch still only shows as charging with only a thin line of red on the battery even after a few hours.
Wi-fi is off, brightness is minimum and there are no applications running on it.
There doesnt seem to be a way to restore to pre version 2.0? Is this a known problem to be resolved in 2.01?
Is the battery likely to be the problem?(it has previously been ok for hours watching movies and 24 hours on music etc) is usually allowed to run flat and then recharged. So dont think its battery condition and does seem to coincide with the new firmware update.
Thx in advance for any help and suggestions.

I hope someone finds an answer to this problem. I just upgraded to 2.0 a couple of days ago. It took me three full tries at the install to get it to work in the first place and once it was installed it seemed like great software. However, now my battery is in the critical zone and I have been charging it now for 10 hours and it is still in the less the 10% red zone. I have turned mail apps off in case it was constantly searching for data. Then I turned off WIFI to see if that would help. If I can't charge my iTouch then the 2.0 upgrade effectively killed it for me. This must be a bug since I have read other people having the same problem after upgrading their software.

  • Screen iTouch Problems

My cousin's iTouch is working but the screen is completely black, BUT if you shine a VERY bright light on it, you can SEE the menu and everything, so it works, its for some reason the "light" is out.  I tried adjusting the brightness and it's not that.  Does she have to take it in?  And if so, how much will it be?

Have the 2g itouch for about a week.
    A few questions.
    1. Is there any reason why itouch won't automatically begin sync when I plug it in? I have "manually manage music and videos" unchecked. The sync will begin normally once i click "Sync" button.
    2. Concerning battery life. Is battery life greatly reduced with WiFi enabled?

    Jonathan Hiott wrote:

The Wi-Fi connection does drain the iPods battery, just like any other Wi-Fi enabled device.
This webpage: http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipods.html provides tips that will help you increase the iPods battery life.
    +*Maximum Battery Life*+
+The new iPod touch can play music up to 36 hours, the new iPod nano can play up to 24 hours, the new iPod classic can play up to 36 hours, and the iPod shuffle can play up to 12 hours on a full charge at original capacity. Apple runs tests for battery life using songs encoded at 128-Kbps AAC and songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store (128-Kbps AAC). The songs are played continuously through a playlist without interruption, with backlight and equalizer off. For all iPod models, factory default settings were used except that iPod touch units were associated to a Wi-Fi network and Auto-Brightness was turned off.+

  • Transferring DATA from iTouch to New PC

    Hello all,
I have an iTouch that I use as a PDA more than anything. I bought a bright shiny new PC with Windows Vista and want to transfer everything from old PC to new PC so old PC can go to my dad. I have read many articles on how to transfer MUSIC from old PC to NEW PC and feel confident that my music library and apps will be fine. What I'm worried about is my calendar (several hundred separate entries) and contacts (nearly 100, many with multiple addresses, phone numbers, etc.). I canNOT afford to lose them!! They are backed up in an iTouch backup file (no compatible calendar software on old PC, so no other backup), and I really do not want to re-enter all that stuff by hand. Do I need to do anything special at any time while authorizing new computer (with MS Outlook for calendar backup - FINALLY!!) or deauthorizing old computer to make sure those entries are safe?
    Thanks,
    Liz

I'm not sure what you can do with the backup file other than restore your iPod. Syncing should move your iPod address list and calendar back to the appropriate programs on the PC but you are running a risk if it doesn't work.
I'm really not 100% sure how to tackle this one. A quick scan of the software tools used to move things off your touch didn't reveal any that could move what you needed. You might want to search a bit more.

my itouch wont let me download apps says not enough disk space even after i have deleted old apps and have no photos or videos on it please help

    - How much free/available storage space do you have? Go to Setting>General>About..
    - The IPod need between two and three time the file download size to download and anstall an app.
    - Connect the iPod to your computer and click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes. What is the discribution of storage usage as shown i the colored bargraph? If the "othjer" category is > i GB then try restoring the iPod to reduce the "other"

  • I downloaded an album on itunes using my new itouch; but it's only allowing me to put three songs at any one time into the music app...how can i get it to just move them all in there?

i downloaded an album on itunes using my new itouch; but it's only allowing me to put three songs at any one time into the music app...how can i get it to just move them all in there?

hi philly, thanks for getting back to me, especially on such a busy day.
I don't think that's quite the issue though. I bought an album and it appears in 'my purchases' within the itunes app. Yet, in order to listen to the music, i must use the 'music' app and in this application, there are only three tracks displayed at any one time from my downloaded album.
I can 'download all' from the 'my purchases' section but that still doesn't help, it just keeps the last three tracks downloaded in the music app.
I have the 'icloud' enabled and wondered if it had anything to do with that.
i have successfully downloaded another full album totally into the music app, but this first album is causing me problems.

  • We've been using the same Apple Id in the family.  Can I change the ID so each person has their own so we don't end up with each other's data?  How would I do that without losing what is on the Itouch now?

My family has the same Apple ID, which is a problem when we don't have the same data on our products.  Can we have separate Apple IDs for each person?   If so, how can we change it and not lose what we currently have stored on our Ipod Touch/Ipod/Iphone?  I just restored my son'e Itouch and it has Cloud.  Will he delete my husband's contacts (from his Iphone)  if my son deletes contacts on the Ipod Touch?

  • ITouch Firmware Upgrade - Can no longer connect to car audio system

I just upgraded to 3.1.1 last night on my iTouch and can no loger plug in and connect to the audio system on my Infiniti G35x. The iTouch shows that it is connected by the audio system shows that it isn't. I've checked the cables, etc and all is fine and can connect another iPod without any issues. Thoughts...?

This is a known issue that started with the 3.0 release, and it affects several auto manufacturers. I was hoping that 3.1.1 would fix this for my Honda, but no dice. Something changed either in the communication protocol or timing, but whose fault it is seems to depend on how many Apple products you own
You can step back down to the 2.x firmware ... search around for "DFU mode", I did it once and may do it again now that 3.1.1 doesn't solve this.
