  • BlackBerry World Music Downloads Failing....Need Help

I just purchased a song to play for a kid who was asking to hear it but the download keeps failing. I have already paid for the song but I am unable to download it.
I have since tested BlackBerry World apps and they are working as usual. I've searched all over the Internet for an answer, but I'm having trouble finding any information.
Anyone have any thoughts on what I might need to do? I've tried refreshing BlackBerry World and I'm going to do another battery pull once I finish this post.

What is the name of the song that failed to download? Did you see any error?

  • Bring back Verizon On Demand World Cup games

Please bring back the World Cup games that were on Verizon On Demand.  I'd really like to go back and watch the games that I missed - even the first round games.  I wouldn't ask to keep them there very long - a month at the latest.  Thank you.

It's possibly due to a lack of uptake or licensing, but I'll let someone from Verizon chime in officially. It looks like they've transferred control to a 3rd party per: http://games.verizon.com/do/gameList?genre=-1

  • "Top Albums" profiled in BlackBerry World on Z10

I have no other means to contact BlackBerry on this matter, so I have to resort to posting on this forum.
It's sad for me to have to do this, because I'd rather be "discrete" about it, but I think this matter is important enough that I'll just post here.
I would like to challenge the BlackBerry World management on how the "Top Albums" shown on the front-page of the BlackBerry World app in BB10 and on the BlackBerry World home page are determined.
Currently, on my BlackBerry Z10, when I launch BlackBerry World, 5 of the 8 "top albums" are of the sort that would never EVER get high profile placement on either Apple iTunes or Google Play... on BlackBerry World, they are compilation albums of songs NOT performed by the original well-known artists. These are sound alikes but they are not nearly as good as original recordings by the original artists, and yet the cost of the albums rivals that of compilations that ARE licensed original recordings by the original artists on competitive online music stores.
I'm sure there is a market for these types of albums, but I have to call BlackBerry World "management' on the carpet for a few points:
    1) These albums are NOT clearly identified as NOT being the original artists: people may be purchasing these without understanding that, and that kind of misrepresentation is beneath BlackBerry.
    2) There is no description of the recording, beyond the name of the track, where the standard practice on competitive services is to list for every single track with the track title AND the artist.
    3) The sound quality is perfect digital clarity, but they actual recordings border on "novelty songs" in their efforts to sound alike the original vocalists, or in their LACK of effort to do so. They are, in a word, "lame". I'm sorry, but when these songs rise to fame, they did so on the back of a quality production and talented artists. It is simply not true that you can just mimic them and recapture the 'magic' that makes a particular recording stand out.
I suggest that BlackBerry QUICKLY reassess the algorithms used to put these types of 4th rate compilations on the front page of the BlackBerry World app and web store.
As a music lover and ardent BlackBerry supporter (AND SHAREHOLDER) I'm embarrassed, almost appalled, at this.
BlackBerry has to do better if they want to remain competitive, and with all the acclaim and promise of BlackBerry 10 and the imminent release of the Q10 around the world, this stands out as a glaring throwback to the days when critics of BlackBerry devices and Research In Motion declared that "BlackBerry is DEAD" and "BlackBerry doesn't try".
Please, PLEASE try to do better and profile legitimate new recordings, either by new / unknown artists or ANYTHING other than these imitation compilations (let's call them "impolations") because they represent the worst of the music business: a cynical cash-grab by rerecording the tracks without identifying them as rerecordings to deny the license revenue to the original copyright holders.
    Shameful.

I couldn't agree with you more. Blackberry World Music needs to do better. The content is provided by 7digital. None of those "Top Albums" in BB World are even the 7digital top 20. When searching for the band Phoenix, it comes up as seventh artist, with four other artists ahead of them that don't even have Phoenix in their band name. It's terribly organized. You would think they would come up with something better given all of the criticism.

  • Bringing back the Soundrop experience, listening to music in a social way

Hey Spotify team, I want you to bring back something similar to the soundrop experience, as an app or as an integrated part of the platform. For everyone that doesnt remember Soundrop was an app in spotify where you could open up rooms with a specific title and people could come in and add music tracks specific to the genre or theme of the room, these tracks were then played for everyone in the room simultaneously. You could also upvote tracks, tracks with the most upvotes were played next in line. You could also chat with the people in the room and meet great new people who shared your music interests all over the world. Soundrop was an eldorado for new music inspiration. As a playlist creator I loved going on there and finding out whats new in specific genres. The rooms were often run by people who really know whats out there and had a passion to share good music but in the end everyone in the room could contribute.  I must say I have much less inspiration for my playlists now that its gone. And maybe you are saying yeah great but the people who actually used Soundrop was not that significant but: If you regularly hosted events on a platform like soundrop, e.g. getting artists to host a room, fanevents etc. there would be increased traffic.Using Soundrop makes u realize that  listening to music together and even chatting about it, exchanging, sharing, is something that can be much more fun than listening alone, and this will become more and more popular in the future, kind of like a social network for music!A problem with soundrop in the end was that it was not really taken care of anymore and updates were scarce, therefore it dropped some users but if updated and managed well an app/platform similar to soundrop could thriveThings are more fun if you share them with other people you care about, thats a simple life rule, in terms of sharing and interacting spotify doesnt offer much up to now...Please think about it and lead the way, nobody else really has something similar to this, beats music, apple... (as far as I know at least), this would really set you apart! Thanks for your time and consideration! Tobias

  • Backing up and restoring app data of an App World (BlackBerry World) app

I'd like to do a security wipe on my old Bold 9700 and then reinstall/restore an App World (BlackBerry World) app that I purchased with the same BlackBerry ID.
    1. Can I reinstall an app via App World after a security wipe?
    2. WIll the app data (e.g. game scores) be restored?
    3. I did a full back up with BDS7, if reinstalling the app on a security wiped phone does not reinstate the app data, can I retrieve the app data by restoring the app from the backup?
    4. What about copying the .rem files of the App World folder of the app to my computer, reinstalling the app via App World and then copying the .rem files back to the Blackberry? Or is there another location I should look for the app data?
    Thank you in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To re-install your apps, please see this KB:

    HandsomeP wrote:
    2. WIll the app data (e.g. game scores) be restored?
That I'm not sure of...it likely depends on how the scores are stored. If they are stored on the device, then it might be able to re-obtain that information after you reinstall the app. Likewise, if they are stored on some server somewhere, it might be able to do so. But there's really no way for anyone but the app developer to know for sure. If I were you, I'd prepare myself for those being lost as a result of this activity.

Maybe -- again, it depends on how the app works, which only the app developer can say. Some apps store data in AppMemory (which is what gets backed up), others store their data in Device or Media Card Memory (which is not necessarily backed up). And it may well be moot anyway, depending on how the developer coded the app.

Same issue...it all depends on how the developer coded the app. If the coded it to ignore any stored data anywhere each time the app is installed, then you can't force it to read anything, regardless of where you might restore it to. But, again, only the developer of the app can tell you what will happen in these circumstances.
    Cheers!

  • BlackBerry to bring back function keys to win back former fans

    From the Globe and Mail
BlackBerry to bring back function keys to win back former fans
BlackBerry Ltd. is seeking to win back once-devoted customers by bringing back a popular set of command keys that the company had abandoned with the launch of a new family of smartphones this past year.
Sources familiar with the company say chief executive officer John Chen will announce Tuesday at a mobile industry conference in Barcelona that the Waterloo, Ont.-based company will restore its trademark “belt” of five function keys that sat between the screen and keyboard.
This includes a trackpad and other keys that allowed users to easily navigate between different applications. The belt will appear later this year on phones powered by the BlackBerry 10 operating system.
A company spokesman declined to confirm the announcement. In a recent interview, to be published later this week in Report on Business Magazine, Mr. Chen said that future BlackBerry 10 smartphones “will have some of the features our power-users love” but were not included on the first phones launched a year ago on the platform, the all-touchscreen Z10 and the Q10, which features both a keyboard and touchscreen.

  • BlackBerry World Z-10

Is it possible to get an older version of BlackBerry World or would any apps that were available on an older version still not be available anymore even if you could install an older version of BlackBerry World?

With Blackberry 10 I don't think his is possible.  If you could somehow get an older version, the apps in blackberry world are not dependent on the version of the app store, but the software on your phone (Ex:  OS5, 6, 7, 10) and its model.

  • Access to BlackBerry World store of US while being outside US

    Hi BlackBerry
I was wondering why the access to blackberry world is determined by which mobile carrier I'm currently using my phone with.
Correct me if I'm wrong, If someone from the US for expample is out of the US and is using a sim card from the local carrier in the country that he is currently living in, he cannot access the BlackBerry world of the US, instead, he will gain access to the BlackBerry World of the country which he is currently living in.
I think that Android also has the same concept with their users' ID's, which I see as very annoying compared to Apple, which gives you the opportunity to have your user profile linked to your country's AppStore by entering a valid address and a payment method relating to your country or issued from your country.
Apple also gives the opportunity to the user to choose (No Payment) option and enjoy using and downloading all free apps, which is a very good option, and is currently available on BlackBerry and Android as well.
I really Hope if BlackBerry can follow the same approach of Apple with while creating or editing the BlackBerry ID, in order to have the BlackBerry ID as "Country determined" and NOT to be as "Mobile Carrier determined" as the case is now. I hope also if you do so to keep the same flexibility (as now) of not obligating the user to enter a payment method while creating or editing a BlackBerry ID.
I think that if BlackBerry considers and implements this, it will give a big push to its users and the traffic flow on he BlackBerry World for downloading and buying apps, movies, music,...etc, as it allow for example US users US to access the BB world of US while being outside US for a trip or work. The same will apply for other users from any country around the wold.
So, I hope that BlackBerry will provide this flexibility as provided by Apple (and maybe a better one). Please consider this seriously and keep moving ahead.
    Regards.

    Hey ahmed_mh1,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the feedback.
Currently BlackBerry World will take the localization settings from the APN settings on your micro SIM card.
If this does change in the future, I would suggest checking for updates at www.blackberry.com/appworld
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Blackberry World thinks I need to update Apps that are already up-to-date. (Infinite Update Loop)

    Hello,
I have been having trouble with Blackberry World.  It states that I have apps that need updating, but I already have the most recent update of these apps.  In addition, BBW states that I need updates for apps that I no longer have installed on my phone. (and I cant seem to uninstall these apps via BBW)
I have tried installing the update (even if its not needed), and uninstalling/re-installing the apps, and nothing eliminates this problem.  "Refresh BlackBerry World" does not help either.
for an example: I have 9 apps that BBW thinks I need to update.  One of which is Blackberry Blend. When I click on Blend, It states that the Update is available to Version 1.1.0.67, but directly underneath, it states that I have Installed Version 1.1.0.67 !!!  If I choose to perform the update, the notice for updating Blend shows back up in BBW immediatley.   The same issue is occuring with a number of apps, including: Google Talk, Skype, etc..
Any suggestions on how to stop this BBW App Update Infinite Loop?

Hi,  I've tried clearing the cache multiple times.  With or without reboot, it doesn't seem to fix the problem.
I should probably mention that this is on a Z10 STL100-3  OS release 10.3.1.1865 OS version 10.3.1.2708.  This problem was occuring with only Skype before the upgrade from 10.2, but since the update its with 9 other Apps as well.  I even completely wiped my phone, and only selectively restored a handful of apps to prevent the issue, but thats when BBW now displays required updates for Apps I no longer have installed on the phones since starting from scratch.
    any other suggestions?

  • Blackberry World doesnt open

    Dears,
It is my 4th day since I am trying to fix my blackberry world app to login via z10.
I am new user on BlackBerry and I still cannot understand why I cannot login. The similar problem occurs with my BBM, when I am trying to login directly from my mobile data, and it wont, but when I login via edge modem by wifi, it does let me to enter and contact. I have tried the payment option as well, but it does the same. It doesnt let me complete, gives an error.
Anyway, regarding my mobiles software version is the latest one by 03 may 2014. I have done everything, removed.battery, didnt use and so on. But still cannot enter to BlackBerry world or bbm.
    Please help.me.
I even reccomended the same.phone.to.my friend and he bought it. And today when I also.wanted.to enter from his phone, it gaves absolutely the same.problem.
    I look.forward to.hear.

    Thank you for the clarifications.
FYI -- there is no prompted log in or log out of BBID...it is an "always on" sort of thing, deeply tied into the device to enable various services, including BBWorld and BBM.
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (step 1 should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive
    2) Reboot
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you likely should contact your mobile service provider for formal support. For BBM, from what you describe it is over their network that things do not function. For BBWorld, nothing functions. If these steps do not work to resolve it, then you will need formal support, possibly from BB themselves -- the only way to obtain that is via escalation from your carrier.
One last thought...when you talk to your carrier, ask them to dig deeply and ensure that there is no BIS account tied to your BB10 device. BB10 does not use BIS, and there are reports that on some carriers even having a BIS account with your carrier will actually block functionality on a BB10 device.
    Good luck!

  • Unable to make payment via BlackBerry world | AW10006c

I have been breaking my head with this for the past two months.
    I live in India.
The problem I am facing is that I'm unable to purchase any app from BlackBerry world. If I use a credit/debit card, it gives me a AW10006c error.
I thought this was due to the added security layer used by debit/credit cards in India. For Visa, it is "Verified by Visa" & for Mastercard it is "Mastercard secure code". So then I used PayPal, it again threw some other error.
I first thought it's an error due to my debit card. So I switched to HDFC credit card. It threw the same error. So tried my Standard Charted credit card. The same error again. I can confirm that the cards are working perfectly fine otherwise. In fact, the cards are getting debited GBP1 each time I add it to my account after removing it. The same GBP1 gets refunded after a while. If I'm not wrong, that is how they verify if the card is working or not. After successful addition of the card, when trying to purchase any paid app, it throws the AW10006c error.
Later, I felt the error could be because of the 10.3.0.700 SDK os. So, I switched to a clean install of 10.2.1 official and tried all the above steps. Same error codes.
Then I tried to use my BlackBerry ID on another device (from Z10 to Q10). Same errors.
I made my friend try on his Z10 with his BlackBerry ID and his HDFC credit card and same error again.
The apps I wanna buy are
    1. Usage Pro (Sasha Kanthan)
    2. Hub++ (Devcellent Solutions Inc)
And a few BBM sticker packs.

change to another language then try again, if it doesn't work , change back to english then do it again. I annoy sure if this can work but it dose work for my Q10
