Bring back iTunes syncing feature back!

I don't mean to be the stickler, but I cannot believe Apple decided to force us to use iCloud for syncing contacts. If i had known that upgrading to Maverick would have caused such, I would never have done so. I have a lot of personal and sensitive information on my iPhone. I don't want such information to be stored at any cloud platform. In fact, I prefer iPhone over Android phones for this feature (allowing users to decide whther they will use syncing via iTunes versus via iCloud). Now that feature is gone, I am in need of retracting back to the previou version of iTunes or Mountain Lion OS. Otherwise, I will need to start looking into if Android platform allows such. I want choices especially when sensitivie information is involved. How often do we hear about someone hacking into some corporate data hub? I don't want to risk.
Please bring back the feature to sync via iTunes!

First of all, I am grateful for the message you posted. At least you cared enough to provide your input.
Secondly, I am not so concerned about losing data. Because, such data reside in my macbook pro, my ipad, my iphone, and my backup of the macbook pro hard drive. So, I am okay in that front.
As far as someone taking my devices, they are password protected with non-simple (not just 4 digits standard setting) password along with features such as "Erase Data" turned on for so many failed attempts.
Given, such I have to stand by my first request to Apple if they would reconsider giving back the feature. For my peace of mind...

Itunes sync without backing up iphone

How do you synch certain playlists from your itunes on your PC to your iphone, without backing up the phone. I have checked in the "preferences" box to not synch automatically, but then when I go to sync the music it starts backing up anyway.

You restored your computer back to factory settings without creating or updating a backup for all important data which should include your iTunes library? You lost all data on your computer - documents, photos, etc., or just your iTunes content - music, movies, tv shows, apps, etc.?
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, and iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
Since this won't be the last time you have to re-install Windows, be sure to include your iTunes library with your computer's backup following the instructions included with this link immediately before beginning the process.

Understanding iTunes sync feature

I just got new Mac. I have lot of songs and apps on my iPod Touch (3rd gen.) which I would like to back up to the new Mac's iTunes. However...
the iTunes app seem to support only synching from iTunes to the iPod...not other way round. In my case, when I press the synch button I it seem to immidietely delete the content from the iPod (I'm clicking then "Revert" what brings the iPod's content to its original status and keeps the iTunes library as empty as it was before). The PC with with iTunes library which I'd been using so far for synching with my iPod is milessss away and I won't have access to it for next xx months.
How do I bring content of my (old and full) iPod to my (new and empty) computer.

ipod touch is not a storage device. It does not support disk mode. It simply mirrors the selected content from your computer.
Do you not have access to your backup copy of the old computer either?
You could try ( at your risk) a third party program that may extract info from the ipod. This is not supported by Apple and there will likely be a cost associated with such a program.
Again, you can transfer itunes purchases.

Tthe thing is when i just went to go manually start dowmloading a few of the songs that i knew i already bought , itunes is making me pay forthem again. No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.

Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(
How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.

My iPhone doesn't sync to iTunes, iTunes syncs back to my phone

I tried to sync my iPhone 3G but instead of syncing all my new songs and folders to iTunes, iTunes synced back to my phone. Lost over 200 songs and all my folders. Use my phone in my fitness classes, all of my folders were set up with my songs for certain classes, at least 6 months of work got lost. Also, I have over 40 apps, non of them shows up in my iTunes store. Very frustrating
Please help, iTunes and iPhone giving me an ulcer and sleepless nights! Can I get my lost folders/songs/apps back? And how can I do that? How can I avoid this happening again?

The iPhone, like all iOS devices, is not and has never been a backup device.
If content is missing from the computer, copy it from the old computer or the backup of the old computer.
Not syncing regularly is simply asking for problems.
Devices are easily lost, stolen, or simply fail. In your case, had your device simply failed or been lost you would be out of everything.
Unfortunately, if they are not on the device or in iTunes on the computer they are gone.
The only reason syncing would cause them to "disappear" is because this is not the computer the device is synced with.
I would strongly encourage you to read the User's Guide to better understand how the device is designed to be used.

If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?

Unable to sync or backup my iPad2 with the new iTunes. I keep getting the error ""iTunes could not back up the iPad because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPad.". I've deleted all the old backups but still get this.

I'm totally frustrated by iTunes and don't know how to solve my problem. Like a lot of people on here I'm not able to sync or back up my iPad2 with my iTunes (version 10.4.1.10). I had the exact same thing with my shuffle - same error message saying that it was corrupt so I restored it (wiping everything in the process) and the same message came up as soon as it reloaded. To free up hard drive space the best bet is to move data files that you don't need access to all the time. Likely candidates are music, video, and photos. Things like word processing and spreadsheet files can also be moved but they tend not to be very large and so don't free up much space. The problem with moving the above mentioned files is that iTunes and iPhoto need to know where the files are stored.
Here's an article explaining how to move the iTunes folder. You can move the iPhoto library using the Finder but there is a slight complication. Start iPhoto, open the Preferences and click on the Advanced tab. The first option is "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". If this option is checked, copy the iPhoto library to your external folder (drag it from the Pictures folder to your external drive) and then delete it from your Picture folder. If this option is not checked, it is a bit more complicated and we'll need to talk a bit.

I'm a recent iPhone 4 user and I just upgraded through AT&T to the 16gb iPhone 5s. The employee at the AT&T store who hooked my family up with phones, told me I could start out with a new phone or back it up to my iPhone 4. So I get home and it takes awhile to back up both phones, so after half an hour, I noticed that my Nirvana albums "In Utero" and "Nirvana" were not syncing. In Utero has twelve tracks, and it would not sync the twelfth track "All Apologies", it would ultimately stop at that track. It would also not sync AT ALL the late Nirvana album. Now, I've tried backing them both up again and I tried updating both phones. But it was only Nirvana not being synced. Now my whole library is corrupt. I have four artists on my phone, six albums, and 78 songs total. That isn't really much...

Same problem here too... it's driving me nuts. I share an imac with my boyfriend and we both have iphones and never had a problem syncing or backing up. Then, suddenly, we get the message stated above... but only when backing up HIS phone, a 3GS (mine is a 3G). We have tried everything:
Deleting the backups and trying to create new
Changing permissions on all of the backup folders once, twice, 3 times over...
Changing the name of the backup folder so that iTunes creates a new backup folder
Creating a new user account for him in the mac os with his own iTunes backup folder and his own permissions.
NONE of these things worked. The closest we got was in the last attempt of creating a new user account, where it actually CREATED the backup (there is a backup file in the proper folder that is about 4gb in size) but we still get the error message at the end, and the backup is not found in iTunes under device preferences.
This is extremely frustrating to say the least and I hope somewhere out there has a solution.
