Bring Design View back!

Removing Design View from Flash Builder was an hilarious idea...
Why not just stop support for Flash Builder and remove it completly from Adobe?
Just bring the Design View back!

  • JSFF design view not showing

    In the design view of a jsff file, only the structure of the af components is shown. Any advice?
    (seems this forum does support images ...)
    Edited by: Leon Zeng on May 3, 2013 10:39 AM

    Hi Leon,
    I have seen this behaviour after the use of "Convert to .."
    e.g. after convert of af:inputText (Number) to af:outputText
    "Convert to .." did not remove <af:convertNumber>
    After remove of <af:convertNumber> in the "Source" I got my design view back.
    Best,
    Kees.

  • Even editing text in Design View is now difficult in DW CC?

    Hi All,
    Even editing text in Design View is now difficult in DW CC? I just upgraded.
    It seems difficult - or impossible - to select, copy and paste multiple blocks of text from one place to another - unless you work in the Code View.
    Text blocks are separate entities, separately edited? I can't even copy and paste an image from one file into another.
    Previously, I'd regularly select an image - or a load of text - and replace it with some copied from elsewhere by 'pasting'.
    I must be missing something. Perhaps there's another mode of working.
    Thanks,
    John

    You're probably in Live View.
    CC2014.1 does some strange things when it comes to Live and Design Views.
    1. Design View is gone for Fluid Grid Layouts, so all editing has to be done in Code or Live View. There is a work around to get Design View back for those in Post #6 here: Editing Text and Adding Links Is Crazy in DW CC-2014.1
    You can also add your voice to get it back here: Provide "Design View" for Fluid Grid Webpages
    2. Design and Live Views are now a dropdown menu. Check the top left of your workspace, you should see Code | Split | Live with a small triangle next to Live. Click it to access Design View in everything but FGL pages

  • RH8 - HTML Design view is not displaying what the HTML specifies.

    I recently edited a template (Master page) that includes tables. Now the design view of the master page does not correctly display the HTML for that page
    and the design view of each page that uses that Master Page displays blank tables. The HTML view includes the content, but the design view does not.

    I understand the use of Master Pages. The topics were already associated with the Master page that included tables and the
    Design view displayed the content perfectly. It wasn't until I edited the color of the cell borders in the Master page that everything went haywire.
    As it is now, the design view is completely unusable for me. This adds a layer of inconvenience that is time consuming. I'm just trying to get the design view back to what it was earlier today.

  • Design view not showing in fluid layout

    I can not turn on my design view, only live view is showing

    CC2014.1 and later no longer have a Design View while using Fluid Grids. This has been discussed here at some length, in multiple threads. If you would like to get Design View back, you can add the X shown below in your fluid grid's .css file...
        Dreamweaver Fluid Grid Properties
        dw-num-cols-mobile:      X 4;
        dw-num-cols-tablet:        8;
        dw-num-cols-desktop:    12;
        dw-gutter-percentage:    25;
    =====================================
    Close all other files first. Make the change, then save and restart DW.

  • Can't see design view after changing connections file from localhost to a remote host & back again

    I was using localhost to test files before changing the connections document over to a remote host, since I couldn't get dreamweaver to connect to the remote host, I changed back to localhot. My files are all .php files. This is a dynamic site. After I changed my connection back to my local host my design view no longer works. It's competly grey with 3 small icons at the top on the left. I can view in live view and I can view in the browser. But no longer in design view after being able to for 6 months. The 3 icons are a hard drive case, a document, and a link symbol . When I click in code view the design view turns grey when I click in design view it turns white. I am using wamp for the localhost, Windows XP home, Dreamweaver CS5. Can someone please tell me how to go back to design view. This happens with any & all files including non dynamic .html files. Also having a problem connecting to my remote host. using godaddy, and they have tried with me for 2 hours to connect, I just keep getting password is incorrect. Thank you for any help, Stacey

    I would also recommend clearing the Site cache, which may help with the connection failure. To do so, choose Site > Advanced > Recreate Site Cache.
    After doing so, be sure to go back into your Site Setup, and make sure the FTP address, user name, and password are all correct. (Click the Test button in there to verify.)
    If that doesn't help with getting connected to your server, you might try an alternate FTP client (e.g. FileZilla) to just make sure you are entering the right connection information. It could be that GoDaddy is having some issue, or maybe you just mistyped something (I know I do this often when I type too fast).
    As for the issue with Design View, try clearing the Dreamweaver cache. Instructions are here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
    You might also try toggling the location of Design View. That is, when in Split View, choose View > Design View On Left. Then, choose that menu option again to reset the location back to the right.
    Resetting the workspace might also be recommended. Window > Worksapce Layout > Reset 'name of current workspace'

  • Access 2010 on 64 Bit Windows 7 Access "Not Responding" when changing from forms view to design view and back

    I am running
    Windows 7 64 bit
    Access 2010 32 bit
    Developing an application with a split FE BE with both files local but continue to have the message "Not Responding" when switching from forms view to design view and back as well as if I try to connect to a subform or object on the sub form.

    I have seen this behavior when the form's RecordSource is a complex query such as a crosstab or a query with several nested queries. To test if this is your case, remove the RecordSource and see if the form starts acting normal again.
    Then again, if the form has several subforms they might be slowing up the loading time.

  • Command Button colors corrupt after switching back and forth from design view.

    I would say my experience level with Access is "getting there."
    I therefore don't thing I'm making a newbish mistake.
    Has anyone else noticed this?  As it's bugging me quite badly.
    1.  A command button has had it's color formatted (pressed, hover, etc. nothing fancy)
    2.  It works fine.
    3.  In my navigation form, if I switch to design view, then select a given sub-form... like "customers" - and switch back out of design view, to form view - then without fail, all customized command buttons within that sub forms' color will 'corrupt'
    ie, change.
    4. Closing and reopening the navigation form (ie, my main menu) restores it, but the same thing will happen should I go back to design view for the sub form.
    5.  Finally - this behaviour does not happen when switching back and forth between views on the original form that isn't a sub form in the navigation form.  (Ie,. the main 'customers' form).
    Can any clever folk give me a solution? :(
    Thanks,
    Eric Rowlands
    EDIT - My apologies, I am using Access 2013 for a desktop database.

    1) We will need to understand whether the issue is seen on any sample database.
    2) IS this seen only on your system, we would need to check on other system also
    3) If the issue is seen in all system & issue is not seen in the sample database then this could be database specific issue
    4) As per my understanding the issue is consistent, we would need to find what is the VBA code or which code is used while designing this form.
    5) We would need to see if the issue is seen only on that particular navigation form?
    6) Is the button gets corrupt I mean to say non-usable once it get discolored ?
    7) What is your end goal just in case if you are able to work on your database i.e. when working on the navigation form without going in design view is issue still seen there ?
    8) Since when are you experiencing this issue ?
    9) If possible please provide me the environment details of your system & Access application, whether the issue is seen only in access 2010 can we check in access 2007 or in access 2013.
    I would really appreciate if you can answers the above questions this will really help us to isolate the issue further
    in terms of technical troubleshooting after answering the above question I might come up with another question so that we can do extensive isolating the issue so the if required we can involve the developer also.

  • Please put back Design view in Dreamweaver v2014.1!

    I am always open for new features that said design view is a critical feature I use when I develop website.
    The live view has delays and switching between code and live view is not smooth.
    Adobe programmers please put back my design view because this is what separates DW from the rest of web developers tools out there!!!! Is ok to add new features but never remove the design view option ...
    Sincerely,
    Steven

    Honestly, I doubt they'll "restore" it at all. It's more likely they'll hasten the release of a more functional Live View Editing feature set. But either way, the actual Adobe reps here (there aren't many) can't comment on expected release dates.
    The writing's been on the wall for a while regarding Design View. It's eventually going the way of the APDiv, once Live View Editing is up to snuff.

  • How can I get back to editing in Design view?

    I can't edit my web pages in Design view. When I DON'T have Live View on, nor Live Code, I only get a cursor shaped like a NO circle and I cannot click on anything to edit it. I can only make changes in the code window.
    What can I do to restore editablilty in Design view?

    Sorry this has taken so long. I have been trying a few things. One is the fact my template my pages are all based on has an editable region, which is where the uneditable are is within.. Other editable areas in the template are available for me to click into and edit, but not the main area.
    I tried moving the main div inside the editable region, but then, although it is now editable, the main div gets wiped away when the site pages get updated. So then I am forced to go back to the previous situation.

    /* Tips for mainContent:
    1. The space between the mainContent and sidebar1 is created with the left margin on the mainContent div.  No matter how much content the sidebar1 div contains, the column space will remain. You can remove this left margin if you want the #mainContent div's text to fill the #sidebar1 space when the content in #sidebar1 ends.
    2. Be aware it is possible to cause float drop (the dropping of the non-floated mainContent area below the sidebar) if an element wider than it can contain is placed within the mainContent div. WIth a hybrid layout (percentage-based overall width with em-based sidebar), it may not be possible to calculate the exact width available. If the user's text size is larger than average, you will have a wider sidebar div and thus, less room in the mainContent div. You should be aware of this limitation - especially if the client is adding content with Contribute.
    3. In the Internet Explorer Conditional Comment below, the zoom property is used to give the mainContent "hasLayout." This may help avoid several IE-specific bugs.
    /* Miscellaneous classes for reuse */
    .fltrt { /* this class can be used to float an element right in your page. The floated element must precede the element it should be next to on the page. */
              float: right;
              margin-left: 8px;
    .fltlft { /* this class can be used to float an element left in your page */
              float: left;
              margin-right: 8px;
              azimuth:center-left
    .clearfloat { /* this class should be placed on a div or break element and should be the final element before the close of a container that should fully contain a float */
              clear:both;
        height:0;
        font-size: 1px;
        line-height: 0px;
    [if IE]>
    <style type="text/css">
    /* place css fixes for all versions of IE in this conditional comment */
    #navbar, #header, #mainContent, #container, navbuttonlineup, #centercore, #leftside, #rightside, #adspace, #mainblurb, #pictscolumn {zoom: 1;}
    #header {
              top:0px;
              position:absolute;
    /* the above proprietary zoom property gives IE the hasLayout it needs to avoid several bugs */
    </style>
    <![endif]
    If you have any solution, I would greatly appreciate it!

  • Going back to Flash builder 4 on Mac because of the design view

    I've got installed the Flash builder 4.6 in a Mountain Lion Mac.
    I have imported a project that I did some years ago with Flex 3. Everything seems to be ok until I try to see the design view. I can't see anything, it is just empty. I know that it is not necessary but it helps me a lot.
    I've been searching in this forum and my conclusion is that I've got to go back to Flash Builder 4.
    I would be very grateful if anyone could help me with the next questions:
    1- Can I work with Flas Builder 4 with my current serial from flash builder 4.6?
    2- Should I uninstall 4.6 before using 4?
    Thanks!

    Hi Chris
    Thanks for your reply.
    I had already seen that post, and the answers were not applicable to me. But thankfully I have found the solution now!
    I Googled the error message: "org.apache.xerces.dom.DeferredElementImpl.getTextContent()Ljava/lang/ String", and came across the following bug report:
    http://code.google.com/p/alkwarel/issues/detail?id=10
    As suggested in the link above, I deleted the xerces.jar  located in user.home/Library/Java/Extensions/. I then cleaned my project, and FB4 for Mac finally exported the release build!
    That bug has been annoying me for MONTHS. I'm so happy it's fixed now!
    All the best,
    Zabeen

  • In the latest update to Dreamweaver, tables guides/guidelines are missing when the border is set to 0. Before they used to show a guide in design view. Any idea on getting this back?

    I noticed that under VIEW > VISUAL AIDS there is a table borders option. But that whole menu is grayed out.
    For designing e-mails, this would be extremely useful.

    Are you in Live or Design View?

  • Why can't I drag images from Finder to Design View Dreamweaver CC?

    Hey Guys,
    I'm using OS X Mavericks (10.9) and Adobe DW CC
    For some reason in both CC and CS6 I can no-longer drag files from Finder (Mac OS X's Explorer) into the design view ( for eg: adding images to a table cell ), the browse button doesn't work properly either... The "browse for file" button only works if there is an image already there and then it will update the image, otherwise if there's no image in the table cell it will bring up the browse dialogue box but does nothing if I select a file and press "open".
    Is there a setting that was introduced in CS 6 that affects this behavior?

    Hi All,
    This bug has been fixed in the latest version of Dreamweaver CC 2014, which is now available for download.
    Download it from https://creative.adobe.com/ or directly through the Creative Cloud desktop app.
    We’re excited to hear back from you. Please share your feedback.

  • Design View - Everything Highlights

    In Design view of CS5 Dreamweaver (OS Windows 7), when I click to make a minor revision, everything highlights.  I read a post to right click in the design view & go to Element View > Full because I have the following style in my wrap div in my CSS file - overflow:hidden;
    I use this style all the time, and this is the first time I'm having problems with working in the Design view of Dreamweaver.  The solution above works, but sometimes I have to do it twice before it takes affect.  Anybody know the reason this happens?
    Thanks.

    Now I'm not sure why I felt a need to use overflow:hidden; in both my wrap and container div tags.  To make a long story hopefully shorter:
    I have a live site and I recently copied all files to a new site which are uploaded to a test folder, because the site is being redesigned.
    The live site has the overflow:hidden; in both the container and wrap div tags.  I have never had a problem editing content in the Design View for the live site or for other sites.  Here is a link to one of the pages:
    http://www.greenkarat.com/mykarat/reuse.asp so you can view the source.  The direct link to the stylesheet is:
    http://www.greenkarat.com/css/greenkarat.css
    In the test site, as soon as I clicked within the Design View, everything got highlighted.  I just tried something different.  I removed the overflow:hidden; from both the wrap and container div tags, and now I can work in the Design View with no problem, which brings up the question of what was the purpose of the overflow:hidden style in the first place, but I have used that on all websites I have programmed.  Here is a link to the same web page in the test folder:
    http://www.greenkarat.com/test2011/mykarat/reuse.asp.  The direct link to the stylesheet is:
    http://www.greenkarat.com/test2011/css/greenkarat.css.  The overflow:hidden has been removed from the container and wrap div tags, so I no longer have a problem.
    If I put the overflow:hidden back in this css file, I, once again, have the problem with everything being highlighted in design view.
    I don't understand why there's no problem with the overflow:hidden for the live site, but there is a problem in the test site.
    Thanks for any help!
