Bring FiOS to my area!

Carroll County, MD wants FiOS!  There are very few high-speed internet options, and I refuse to give comcast any money!

I am on my second Actiontec 784MNV router....And yes, I do have a land-line also. I used to have horrendous static and line hum whenever it rains which is a lot in New Jersey. They have replaced the boots, some wiring, gone as far as a junction/routing whatever box a few blocks away, and while the servicemen have ALL been awesome and helpful, they CANNOT fix it for good. My internet average download speed  is about 2+ mps which is spotty at best. I was only told that my internet would be "high speed" internet and that I'd be really happy with it. This was when I first became a customer in Feb? 2012.  It goes out at least 4-5 times a week and has to be re-booted quite a bit. I've been given at least 4-5-6 excuses why I cannot get FIOS in my trailer park, and we cannot get satellite due to a lot of woods in the area. My Netflix constantly pauses to try and load a show or movie, and just stops loading alltogether more often than not. I've read a lot of articles where Verizon is slowing down the download speeds on Netflix, and my computer pages usually take 3-4-5 or more seconds to load a page. This is NOT highspeed anything. They are helpful-they send servicemen out, but until all the copper wiring is replaced with fiber optics, this problem will never go away. I DO understand somewhat how i'm limited by wiring and other factors that Verizon cannot control, but this was/and still is advertised as HIGH SPEED internet. My old dial up was faster than this system is some days. My only other choice is Comcast cable. I am tired of hearing empty promises from Verizon.

To bring FiOS to new areas, Verizon has to run Fiber Optic lines. Considering the statements they've made about expansion, I doubt they're running new lines any time soon.

  • Bring FiOS to Dallas, TX 75212 on Jenny Dale Dr, Melinda Hills Dr, and Landrum Lakes Ct

Please help us bring FiOS to houses without cable/internet in Dallas, TX 75212 on Jenny Dale Dr, Melinda Hills Dr, and Landrum Lakes Ct. My wife and I have been living in a new subdivision in West Dallas, TX since the summer of 2011. We did not do enough research regarding the area's cable/internet services and have been using DirecTV for cable and Clear 4G for internet. Interestingly enough, Time Warner Cable services all residences in this area except our small subdivision which includes Jenny Dale Dr, Melinda Hills Dr, and Landrum Lakes Ct. After several calls and service requests, it seems that TWC has no plans to extend service to this area in the near future. Please help us with this issue as all residents in this area would greatly benefit from high speed internet and premium cable service. Thank you for your time

This is a FiOS User Forum for technical advice and while I can understand your frustration, none of us can help you with Verizon.
Try to contact your local business office and see if there are any plans for your neighborhood.  Ask if you get enough neighbors to agree to sign up for service, you might be able to convince them.

  • BRING FIOS TO ZIP 11418 PLEASE

BRING FIOS TO {edited for privacy} PLEASE....i will pay all the costs!!!

If you're willing to pay the cost to get FiOS installed in that ZIP code, I think you're honestly better off buying and building out your own network, and selling Fiber-based Internet services out of it. You'll be able to recoup the costs that way. Unless of course, that isn't what you meant you were going to pay Verizon to do and pocket the money afterwards.
Long story short, I wouldn't expect FiOS to be built out anytime soon if it isn't already available in your Central Office or your town/city doesn't already have a TV Franchise or other agreement with Verizon. I'm not sure if that ZIP Code is specific to New York City as a whole, but Verizon does have agreements with the city to wire up everything by 2014. Expansion has pretty much been halted, with Verizon eyeing Fixed LTE as a replacement for Fiber cabling to the home. Not going to fly very well with me.

  • Bring FIOS to Cypress, California

We are already wired for Verizon, we just want the fiber optics. According to my city public works, we were scheduled to get your services back in 2008! We are still waiting! Our whole area is held captive by the Time Warner Cable company, and extreme prices. My daughter lives two blocks from us and has your services, and they are outstanding! We try each year to contact different companies since we moved in our home in 1999. We finally ditched the cable services and went with Direct TV your partner for satellite television! We would love to have your phone and internet services! Please reconsider us, there is a huge demand for FIOS!

  • How to get Fios in my area

My community is recently developed and already has fiber optics lines installed to all the houses.  The only service we get is by AT&T uVerse. So I’m assuming the lines are installed by AT&T
since fiber optics lines are already installed, Is there any way to get FIOS in our community? Whom do we contact?
The community is in Frisco,TX 75034

Yup, you're wrong.  Cable lines and fiber lines are not shared.
Old fashioned copper is shared as most of it was installed when Ma Bell was a monopoly.  You can often get DSL and phone service over copper from providers other than Verizon or your local telco.  Verizon doesn't like this, as they don't make as much money.  That's one of the reasons they successfully lobbied our government to have FiOS *not* be shared.  Cable companies are no different.
Bottom line, you're not getting FiOS unless you become a large enough Verizon shareholder that you can direct their investments.
    Have Fun!

  • Please bring Fios to Rochester, NY

The title is self-explanatory. Time Warner has decided to screw over their customers in Rochester, NY with a bandwidth cap. If there were any plans of expanding into the Rochester area, now would be the ideal time. The main alternative to Time Warner is Frontier, and they are an inadequate company.
    http://stopthecap.com/

I Let me add my name to those who are desperately wanting the Fios to come to Rochester.  I have friends in buffalo New York who have Fios and totally love it.  I have friends in Syracuse who sing its praises too.   Rochester is right in the middle. Please extend your service to those of us in Rochester.... and SOON!
Time warner has slow speeds and completely unreliable.  Now their extremely overpriced tiered and forced restrictions are causing people to jump ship from them in record numbers.   Unfortunately the only other option in Rochester is an even slower DSL.    If Verizon Fois came to Rochester- you would scoop up all of us who are dropping our services with Time warner.
There are petitons and newsletters circulating and almost everyone is saying that if Verizon Fois came to Rochester- they would all sign up.   Verizon has thousands upon thousands of people who are eagerly awaiting any sign of verizon offering Fois here.  You will recover your set up costs in no time.  You will offer massive competition to Time warner and you will win.  No one in their right mind would pay more for time warners forced restrictions and unreliable service if we had verizon Fios here.
It would be a very good business decision to offer services here and the sooner the better.  The sooner you do, the more people you will have.

  • I have a 5D MK III and can not get CS6 to bring up images that are CR2 raw format, which it supports

I have tried in CS5 and got nothing and upgrades to CS6 and it only tells me to check the plugin and make sure you have the right version. for CR2 that verion is 4.1.CS6 comes with verion 7.0.xxx what is going on. this should flow smoothly.

You're off by a little in your assumptions, but there's an easy remedy.  Not all CR2 files are formatted the same inside.  In fact, they're different for every single camera!
At least Camera Raw 7.1 is needed to support the 5D Mark III.  You can verify that in this table:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Choose Help - Updates in Photoshop.  That should get you fixed up.  If not, visit one of these pages:

  • False returns - search brings back images that are not tagged

If I search on, for example, "Bag", I get all the images that I have tagged with "Bag", but then get a whole load more that do not have that word in their keywords (not even as part of another word) - where is the search engine finding the word "Bag"? I have had this with some other words too... Any ideas?

The search has many options, some loose some tight. Seems like if you have "contains" and "all criteria met" it should exclude all images that are not tagged "bag". If you have "any criteria met" then you could get other files, but still seems like "bag" would have to be in there someplace.

  • Bring Fios to Franklin Twp, NJ

All of the other towns around us have Fios... is there any kind of rollout schedule for NJ? Would really appreciate some answers as I am willing to switch over everything to Verizon (away from Comcast, which keeps getting progessively worse).

Fios is available in much of Franklin Township already, and has been for quite some time now.  It's not yet available on my street.  I've been checking the site for more than a year now and still no change.  I am dying to switch from Comcast, too!

  • Bring back the crop area!

The addition of artboards is throwing us for a loop. We just need a crop area to keep any art/stray points out of our final exported jpgs. We don't want automatically appended file name changes! We don't want to waste time batch renaming or manually deleting file name changes, we just want a simple crop. Can't there be both?!

Stray points: Select all then Object > Path > Clean Up
File names:  Preferences > General > uncheck "Append [Converted] Upon Opening Legacy Files"

  • I can open Firefox v4.0b4 no problem, and I can bring up links that are on the google page and pages that are bookmarked, but when I enter a web address in the address bar and either hit "enter" or click on the blue arrow nothing happens.

I have an Apple Powerbook G4 with Mac OS X v10.5.8. I downloaded the new Firefox to replace an older version (v2.0, I think). When I try to go to websites via the address bar, I don't get any errors and nothing appears to be loading.

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.
