Bring in .psd file along with clipping path

Okay, this client has a very odd request. They want a collage of images put together in one file and they want the clipping paths to be attached. Then it's to be saved as an eps file. I'd like to do this in InDesign rather than Photoshop because the clipping path stays with the image in InDesign when you move it. However, I don't know how to save the file as an .eps file with the clipping paths attached. I open the .eps files in Photoshop and there are no clipping paths present.
Help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

My suggestion is to compose the entire collage in Photoshop. And if you need to preserve the clipping paths of each image of the finished collage, then convert the clipping path to a vector mask. Then you can drag a layer (that will include image and path) into one photoshop file to make collage.
Here are the instructions from previous post to convert a path into a vector mask.
To create a vector mask in PS, select the path in the Path Panel, then under Layer menu > Vector Mask > Current Path.

  • Why does Illustrator CS4 save pdfs with clipping paths and make rasters of gradient areas

    I am on a IMAC and upgraded to 10.6.8 Jan 2014. I am using CS4 Illustrator to create with. When i save my work as a pdf then reopen the pdf in Ill to make changes, the whole page has:
    A.) Multiple clipping paths around it
    B.) Most text has now become outlined. Not editable anymore.
    C.) Gradient areas have multiple clipping paths of the single gradient area
    D.) The gradient areas now become rasterized.
    This is very frustrating as now all of my marketing files, some 300+, are worthless. I don't know where to look anymore to find the problem.
    Please help.
    Thank you very much

    John,
    I have the presets as you have shown. I had been editing the supplied items as you suggested. Then figured i should ask the questions of those who are better than I.
    But still a bit confused as to why the new save places clipping paths around the document.
    Thank you John and Monika for your help.

    I do a save as "pdf" in the format pull down tab. I save to a folder on the hard drive. Where is the "Illustrator editability" check box? I presumed it is in Acrobat some where
    but i seem to be lost.
    It is in Illustrator's Save Adobe PDF dialog, which pops up before the saved file is written.

    Sorry i didn't mention this, but this seems to have occurred when using images and text from provided pdfs.
    That's a critical fact. If you didn't do the original save, the above is moot, and it's too late to exercise any control over the save process. Someone else failed to save for editability. The only thing you can do is clean up/repair the content, (release clipping masks, rebuild rasterized elements, expand objects, etc.), and save correctly as AI. Then, if necessary, re-save as PDF with the correct settings.

  • Import WSDL file along with XSD

    Hi,
    I have a WSDL file which has complex Data types (abc.wsdl). This complex data types are defined in the XSD file (abc-data.xsd).
    If I just import WSDL file in ED I am unable to find the Complex Data types in Message Mapping.
    How can I use the XSD file along with the WSDL file? Is there any source path as to give or what?
    Could you please help me out…?

    first i will tell how my wsdl file is defined

  • Objects with Clipping Paths?

    If I import an image (jpg) with clipping path and covert it to a button how can I get it to display properly?
    Thanks in advance.

    The problem likely is caused by you combining images of varying resolutions (Image > Image Size).
    I wuld recommend applying the Path as a Vector Mask in the original document (change Background Layers to regular ones by double-clicking them) and moving that into the container file.

    Unfortunately iWeb cannot read or import previously published files, only generate them.  You'll have to recreate your site from scratch.
    However, Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the recreation of the site.

  • Trouble with clipping paths in Photoshop CS5

    Hello everyone, I am having trouble with clipping paths in Photoshop CS5. When I start a new path both path and anchor points are not visible. working on a Layer not background 0 and a Path Layer was created.I've also noticed that Photoshop started running pretty slow. All other programs are fine. Any Ideas or suggestions? Thank You

    What do you mean by "a Path Layer was created"?  Path are in the path palette, there is a path in shape layers and they is a path in a vector layer mask. I have never seen a reference to a path layer before this.  When a path in the path palette is selected activate it wall also be shown in the image window.  Does not matter if there is a targeted layer or not.  Control points may or may not be displayed. Using Path tool you can select and select segments and show some or all control points, Path are editable.
    View the following image in a new tab and scale to actual pixels for a clear image this site scales image poorly.

  • To Import XSD file along with WSDL file in ED

    Dear All,
    I am doing a scenario web service1 —XI—RFC—web service2. Web service1 sends request to XI and XI sends to RFC and RFC response to web service2 and web service2 response (acknowledge) back to XI and XI sends back to web service1.
    My client (web service2) has given me the web service (WSDL) file along with XSD file.
    In the wsdl file there are number of elements and complex types.
    <xs:element name="GetCustomer">
         <xs:complexType>
              <xs:sequence>
                   <xs:element name="authentication" type="xx:AuthInfo"/>
                   <xs:element name="CompanyName" type=" xx:AuthInfo "/>
              </xs:sequence>
         </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    The type (xx:AuthInfo and xx:AuthInfo) are defined in XSD file.
    My questions are
    1)     Do I have to import the XSD file in ED or not.
    2)     How do I map this XSD
    3)     As WS1, RFC and WS2 all are synchronous MT do I have to use BPM for it.
    4)     Can some one help with any docs please..
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    >>Do I have to import the XSD file in ED or not
    If you are having the wSDL files then you can take the structure from there itself. Just import the wsdl files in IR. You can also use XSD.
    >>How do I map this XSD
    XSD are same as Message Types. So create a MM and choose your XSD.
    >>As WS1, RFC and WS2 all are synchronous MT do I have to use BPM for it.
    Yes you have to because you are taking the responce from RFC and going to give it to WS2.
    BPM steps:
    1) receive (open sync bridge)
    2) transformation 1
    3) send (snyc)
    4)transformation 2
    3) send (close sync bridge)

  • FM to down load the spool to excel file  along with the deliminator

    hi all,
    this is regarding a downloading of spool to a excel file along with a deliminator.
    Can any one suggest a function module which downloads spool to excel file with a deliminator in a proper way.

    Hi ram,
    You can try using the BAPI_XBP_JOB_SPOOLLIST_READ_20 - to get the list from spool and then do the required formatting. You can use can use the function module mentioned in the other reply to download it into excel file.

  • Linking Photoshop EPS Files with Clipping Paths

    I'm running InDesign CS4 6.0.3 on a dual 2GHz G5 with Mac OS X 10.5.7.
    We have a workflow that involves Photoshop EPS files being placed in InDesign with the object's clipping path set to Photoshop Path.  If the link is updated or relinked, InDesign no longer restricts the image to the boundaries of the path—either on screen or on export to PDF—even though choosing Object -> Clipping Path -> Options still shows the type set to Photoshop Path.  The only way that I have found to get the clipping path to fully apply to the image is to change the type from Photoshop Path to None and back to Photoshop Path, all while the Preview check box is on.  I tried different combinations of turning the Apply Photoshop Clipping Path option on and off at the time of initial placement and at the time of relinking with no effect on this behavior.
    Assuming that using a format other than EPS and using transparency rather than clipping paths are not in play at the moment, my questions are:
    1.  Is this a know issue with InDesign CS4?  If so, can we expect a fix soon?
    2.  Is there anything that can be done on the user side that is less cumbersome than the workaround described above?

    @Mark
    Photoshop PSD is fine for all raster work. But if you have vector masks, vector shapes or text in the file then saving as PDF would be the better option, you can choose to remove the white background when importing the PDF in the Show Options of the Place Dialog box.
    And that's null point anyway, as soon as you open a photoshop EPS file in Photoshop it rasterises everything. So what I said isn't a viable solution for this project. But to keep in mind that PSD will output as raster only and PDF can have transparency and raster + vector data.
    Just thought I'd through that out there.

  • Psd eps with clipping paths broken in Tiger ..... ?

    I have been having the following problem since UPGRADING to Tiger :
    Any photoshop (7) eps files containing clipping paths (created newly or rendered from before the upgrade).
    Problem : Placing them into illustrator (10) just brings in a blank box (no error message displays). Trying to import them into quark (5) either completly freezes qxd or it collapses. Freehand (MX) brings in an invisible image.
    Can anyone help, please.
    I am currently working on a vast range of packaging. All images are 'inherited' and need tweeking (incl their clipping paths) and brought back into their original illustrator files.
    js

    hello guru's!
    come on.
    i can't believe none of you knows of this problem or doesn't have some idea what to do about it.

  • EPS photos with Clipping paths dont show in Quark Xpress

    Anyone experience why a Photoshop file with a clipping path will not preview when brought into Quark Xpress unless I save the preview as a tiff?
    I use photoshop 7.1.

    From desktopublishing.com's review of QuarkXpress 4
    "The ability to control a picture's appearance in several areas. For example if you want to make a specific part of an image transparent, simply specifying the part using the clipping paths, the alpha channel that is embedded in the original picture, or the white area of the image. It can also read clipping paths in either TIFF or EPS format. Trapping tools and supports most popular color spaces, including Hexachrome, are also included."
    and according to Wikipedia, Xpress 4 was released in 1997, eleven years ago with 4.1 coming two years later.
    So, while I was just guessing thinking back over the last decade of versions, I was not far off, and I can't remember ever having a clipping path problem with tiffsthat version. Of course, if you didh't save the clipping path as a Clipping Path in Ps, then you would have a problem. That has been fixed now too.

  • PSD file problem with lighrooom  when editing under CS3

    Hi - Lets assume i am editing (invoked via LR) a copy of a jpg file under CS3 , say my copy file is now layered (with .PSD) and i hit file save..This PSD file is not automatically imported in LR and stacked with the other jpeg picture..I am doing something wrong here ? Cos this seems to work when saving a copied version of a jpg..

    Hmm not sure i have explained thinsg properly.
    I am in lightroom
    I select a Jpeg picture
    I hit Ctrl-e, i then have the choice to either use original or a copy
    I select the copy option
    the file is loaded in photoshop as filename-edit.jpg
    lets say I add layers for example to this picture , the filename i will then be saving is filename-edit.psd
    when i close photoshop i was expecting that this psd is stacked along with jpeg and this is not happening...

  • Display errors in a file along with records - IBIP_BATCH_INPUT doesnt do it

    Hi,
    I am using the function module IBIP_BATCH_INPUT(used in program RIIBIP00) in my custom program to upload maintenance plan data(Transaction IP01) using call transaction method.The data gets successfully uploaded.
    However if i send incorrect data, an ALV report gets printed by the above function module that displays the error.
    My requirement is to generate a file that displays each record and the corresponding error along with it.
    Pls note that the error file obtained(Call transaction) has only the error records but not the errors displayed.
    The function moduke returns a internal table of errors as displayed in ALV but how can I relate those errors with the the records in my file?

    Hi Rob,
    The transaction IBIP does the same as the program RIIBIP00.
    My requirement is to customize it.
    The legacy system file I obtain is not in the file format IBIPREC(refered documnetation of RIBIP00).
    I convert it into a the required file format and use the file in the program or transaction IBIP manually and data gets loaded into the system.
    If the file contains errorneos data, then the errors are displayed in a ALV report by the program RIIBIP00 and a a file is generated showing the erroneus record.My requiremnet is to have a audit file of the legacy system format plus a column showing errors.
    How can I map the errors obtained from the fn module IBIP_BATCH_INPUT in program RIIBIP00 with the each record and produce an audit file?

  • Trouble with clipping paths and expanding

    Hey y'all. Okay, so I have a Illustrator element that uses a clipping path.
    Even after I run "Expand Appearance" on it, it's not trimming the art to the bounds of the path.
    It's making for difficult to position correctly when copying into Photoshop as a Smart Vector or Shape Layer:
    And it isn't correct in After Effects either.

    What you are describing is just another example of the very common need to trim artwork (including filled, unfilled, open, and/or closed paths) without wrecking its already-applied Attributes, Appearances.
    As has been discussed many many times here, Illustrator simply does not provide that basic functionality...neither by its horribly-designed cutting tools nor through its problematic and caveat-riddled Pathfinders. Expanding a Clipping Path doesn't serve as a workaround for this long-missing functionality; nor does flattening transparency. You can't do it without resorting to the workarounds you've already tried or others that will no doubt be suggested.
    Once again:
    NONE of Illustrator's cutting tools (Knife, Scissor) can cut across artwork that includes multiple open, unfilled paths. Open unfilled paths are ignored by the Knife cut. The Scissor cannot cut across multiple paths at once.
    Illustrator's recently-added, very poorly implemented Eraser tool comes nearest to the needed functionality. It can at least cut multiple unfilled open paths without their becoming converted to unstroked, closed fills. But it unpredictably alters the shapes of remaining portions and has no means by which to accurately control a cutting shape other than rectangular.
    This is a prime example (there are others) of how Illustrator confuses and clutters the interface with multiple under-powered tools designed for similar functions, none of which measure up to a single tool properly designed for the same purposes in most other programs.
    Pathfinders are riddled with ridiculous caveats. Those which come close to providing the needed functionality are incapable of ommitting the unwanted deadwood and/or wreck strokes by outlining them.
    Illustrator needs a feature that allows any given path to be employed as either a selection marquee or a cutting path. And the cutting operation needs to act as expected regarding strokes as well as fills--as common in any other drawing program that does provide the long-missing functionality (most do; Illustator never has).
