Bringing in Calculated and Restricted Key Figs

How do I bring in calculated and restricted key figs from one query to another in BI 7.0? When I created these key figs it said that they were reusable.
Thanks

Hello Atif
When you make CKF or RKF at query level which means right hand side in your column these are local to your query and not useable.....but when you make them global by defining in left hand side they can be reused in other query....so when u willl create another query...these CKF and RKF will be available...just drag and drop them they will work
Thanks

sliding fingers right used to bring up calculator and callendar, now it brings up something else (a mini google search tool comes up). any ideas on how to get it back or to choose what happens when you swipe a finger to the right?

I'm operating the new MacBook Pro-Retina and it brings up dashboard stuff. I have 2 suggestions
    1. Open system preferences see if the gestures have been changed
    2. Edit the widgets located within the dashboard. I know there is a mini-google widget. It's possible yours were edited and the calculator, etc. got deleted.

  • Unable to save calculated and restricted keyfigures

    hi all,
I am facing a strange problem where in , even though i try to save a calculated or a restricted key figure with a unique name the system throws a warning saying "the name already exists" and wouldn't allow me to  save the CKF or RKF.
Any pointers to slove this problem would be appreciated.

    Hi
Yes , If you create the restricted or calculated keyfigure and save it with the Technical name
then you cannot use it again though you try to create in other info provider.
You can create the RKF or CKF with the Technical name only once, You cannot use the same
Technical name again to create RKF or CKF on other data providers.

  • Restrict Key Fig Value

    Hi,
I have  two key fig which i want restrict with between value of that key fig and after i want to take that count of the both key fig.
    Ex
    Quantity -
    in between 10 - 20---its count
    Quantity---in between 40 - 80---its count
    Can any one help this
    Thanks
    Rama

You can create Formula Key Figures for each of this range. Use the Boolean Operators in your formula as below.
    FKF1 : ( 'Quantity' <= 10 ) OR ( 'Quantity' >= 20 )
    FKF2 : ( 'Quantity' <= 40 ) OR ( 'Quantity' >= 80 ).
And in the propeties of the key figure make the setting, calculate result as summation.

  • Multi provider objects and restricted key figure definition

    I have the following scenario:
    1. I have a multi provider which is used as a template to build a second multiprovider the difference being one of the part provider cubes is replaced by a new cube
    2. There is a query built off the original multi provider which consists of a restricted key figure.  The definition of the restricted key figure is as follows
Characteristic 1 - restricted to records with value 'A'
Characteristic 2 - restricted to records with value 'Blue'
        Key Figure - Total Amount
    3. If I go to the original multiprovider and look at how the characteristics are identified and the key figure assigned the details are as follows
Characteristic 1 - identified from all part providers including the part provider to be replaced
Characteristic 2 - identified from all part providers including the part provider to be replaced
Total Amount - assigned from two part providers (which are also involved in the identification of   Characteristic 1 and 2)  not including the part provider to be replaced
    4. In the new multi provider the details are as follows
Characteristic 1 - identified from all part providers excluding the replacement part provider
Characteristic 2 - identified from all part providers excluding the replacement part provider
Total Amount - assigned from two part providers (which are also involved in the identification of   Characteristic 1 and 2)  not including the part provider to be replaced
My thoughts are that it does not matter that Characteristic 1 and 2 cannot be identified from the new part provider since as long as the two part providers which are used to assign Total Amount are available in the new multi provider the values shown from the restricted key figure will be the same.  Is this correct? Thanks

    Hi,
Yes this is correct. As long as you are reporting on Total Amount, the replacement cube will not make a difference because you never identified total amount from it. Did you face any issues?

  • Creating restricted Key Fig: characteristic Not availlable for selection

    Hi,
I am creating a restricted key figure  and some of the restricions values are not available fr selections. When I try to type the missing options it only enter them as the first 2 characters.
In one case it basically gives a message that it is not in the master data and but that it will allow for selectinons but I needed to go to the master data to make entries.
What could be going on here?
    Thanks

    hi Amanda,
would make sense if you want to restrict with the values that exist in infoprovider only or from all master data (if exist in master data and not in infoprovider, no data come when reporting), if you restrict with value not exist in infoprovider then no data will be displayed.
first 2 character .. your characteristic may have length 2 only, it's key, try to right click 'technical names'.
when restrict, you can click 'display other values' button (yellow right arrow),
then there's option to restrict only infoprovider.
however, of course we are allowed restrict with values that not exist,
data in bw development/quality may differ from production,
we may want to restrict values that exist in production but not in dev/QA,
and we need to transport the query from dev to QA/prod.
    hope this helps.

  • "new selection", restricted key figure and basic key figure

    Hi,
I have a test report and i have a basic keyfigure "ZRevenue" and "restricted key figure"(its defined over "ZRevenue") and
a "new selection"(its defined over "ZRevenue").
Now that i have "material number" and "material color" and "request id" in the rows. ("Material color" is a navigational attribute of material number).
In the column level i have a basic key figure  "ZRevenue" and "restricted key figure"(its defined over "ZRevenue")  and
    a "new selection"(its defined over "ZRevenue") .
In a "restricted key figure" or "new selection", we can include a basic key figure or new formula or calculated key figure or an already restricted key figure into it, then we restrict it, with one or more characteristic values. In the report output we get KF values only for those characteristic values, with which it has been restricted. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.
Initially i restricted the "new selection" (with material number 1 to 3) and "restricted key figure" (with material number 1 to 4).
In the cube i have material numbers 1 to 11. Now all the values were displayed from 1 to 11, but for the
"new selection" (with material number 1 to 3) and "restricted key figure" (with material number 1 to 4) i got values only for 1 to 3 and values for 1 to 4 respectively. This is as expected and is working fine.
Now i tried to restrict the basic keyfigure  "ZRevenue" with material number 1, the output was only until the material number 4 (this is the greatest value of the material number defined over the "restricted key figure").
Then i tried to restrict the "new selection" (with material number 1 to 9) , then the output was from 1 to 9 material numbers.
If i remove the restriction over the basic keyfigure  "ZRevenue" , then i get all the material numbers from 1 to 11, for "new selection" i get values for the material number 1 to 9 and for "restricted key figure" i get values for the material numbers 1 to 4.
Can some one explain me why this behavior?

    Hi,
This is where set theory comes in handy
So what you have is a basic KF (BKF), a selection (SEL), and an RKF.
When producing an output, BEx seems to be looking for the union of all the restrictions you place on these. So when your BKF is not restricted, the union comes out to everything in the underlying DSO. When you restrict the BKF for material number 1, this is how the restrictions might have been processed internally
    BKF: Restriction on material 1
    RKF: Restriction on material 1-4
    SEL: Restriction on 1-3
    Union of these three: 1-4
When you remove the BKF restriction and make SEL restricted to 9, this is how it plays out
    BKF: NO Restriction on material
    SEL: Restriction on material 1-9
    RKF: Restriction on 1-4
    Union of these three: everything.
As the union ends up giving you everything, you get 11 records. However, as SEL is restricted for 1-9, the SEL will have values for the materials 1-9. Likewise for RKF, you'll get values only for materials 1-4. Hope this clears things up!

  • Creation of restricted key figure

    hi experts,
when i will create restricted key figure and calculated key figure for reporting.any one suggest that.
    regards,
    balu.

    Hi,
    Restricted Key fig:
By using restricted key fig you can restrict only one key fig column based on the value of char.  Assume that you have a query with key figs Price, Qty and Revenue. If u  restrict Revenue based on chars i.e either time or customer Id or Material Id etc only that revenue key fig coulumn will be effected.
    Calculate Key Fig:
Calculated Key fig is nothing but creation of new key fig using existing key figures. Assume that you have a query with key figs Price and  Qty only. If you want to find Revenue as
Revenue = Price * Qty, go for Calculated Key figure.
Assign points if  it helps u.
    Cheers....

  • Restricted key figure as a selection screen

    hi
in my fs they gave selection screen and restricted key figures are same things?
can i use this restricted kf as a selection also?

    Hi,
If u are talking about 'selection' vs 'restricted key figure: -
Restricted key figure is the selection that u create globally and are avaible for all queries which are built on the multiporvider on which u created your restricted key figure.
when u right click in ur query desinger row or column and create a 'new selection'  that also basically is a restricted key figure -b ut available only locally within that particular query.
whereas the globally created RKF will be available to all queries on that info provider.
And 'selection screen' will show all variables u have set as 'ready for input' . it will ask for user to enter the value when query is executed.
    hope it helps

  • Filter and restricted keyfigure

    Hi gurus,
Can anybody clear my doubt? filters are used for restricting some records and restricted key figures are also used for same thing? can any body explain me clearly , what and where is use of filters and key figures?
    i promise to reward points.
    thanks
    bw bw

    Hello,
    Let me explain you .
    Filters:
Filters represent the conditions that message types and BAPIs have to satisfy so that they can be distributed by ALE outbound processing.
    Restricted Key Figure:
If You have defined a restricted key figure for reuse.
You can now use this restricted key figure in all queries based on this InfoProvider by moving the key figure into the rows or columns of the query using Drag&Drop.
The restricted key figure is not an actual element in this query, but a placeholder referenced to the restricted key figure in the InfoProvider.
    Hope this helps you.
    Thanks

  • Copying Calculated Key Figs into Multiprovider

I have two cubes ZAC_CUBE and ZPL_CUBE the structure of the cubes is not same...
By using these cubes I have a MULTIPROVIDER (ZMUL_CUBE)am currently creating queries using the multiprovider.
I would like to use the Calculated keyfigures from the cubes (CAN I COPY) into a MULTIPROVIDER.. Its taking a lot of time to create the same Calculated keyfigures with another Technical Name... Any Suggessions..Please..
    Preetham...

    dear pritham
if u are sure about the containt of multiprovider then u can do one thing, add all the objects from the source cube to the multicube, tehn transfer ur queries from baic cubes to the multicube. Now a note of caution: key fig technical names are unique in a system so while copying by RSZC the technocal names will be incremented by either by next available digit or get appended last by '_1', but u can identify ur calculated KFs and Restricted KFs by their Text (I mean Title).
Now u can remove unwanted objects from the multicube.
may this will help u out.
kindly assign the points if it helps.

  • How to create Calculated/Restricted Key Figures in AO

    All,
In our project we are consuming Bex Queries for AO Analysis. In these  we have lot of calculated/restricted key figures. In bex we can restrict 2 characterstics to one Keyfigure, So can we able to create calculated/restricted KF in AO
    Regards,
    John

    Hello Tammy,
We are having a reqauirement in which we have 5 Bex queries built on the same infoporvider and we are trying to consolidate all the 5 queries to one single generic Bex query or two. So in AO we would like to consume this query and build different AO workbooks to meet all the old 5 queries requirement.
So as part of this process, I would like to know can we create calculate/restricted KF's in AO , that way i can make a better decision to create them in Bex VS AO.
Thanks for your inputs in advance.
    Regards,
    John

  • Calculated & restricted key figures

can any body give me the defination of calculated & restricted key figure

    Hi Leela gopal,
Calculated Keyfigure and Restricted Keyfigure both are Global Keyfigures in the Query, since we define them at infoprovider level.
Calculated Keyfigure: When you want to do calculations on Keyfigures we go for Calculated keyfigures, and this one we can use for all the queries defiend on that infoprovider.
Restricted Keyfigure: When you want restrict the keyfigures values with reference to some characterisrtics we will go for Restricted keyfigures. For example, you want to display sales for Jan in one columns and Feb in one column, then we have to create two restricted keyfigure on Sales objects one should be restricted with 0calmonth on Jan and other should be with 0calmonth on Feb.
    Hope you understand.

Cannot get iPhone 4 to talk with Mac Lion using Numpad. Have updated, restarted etc. Have Screen Sharing on. It sees my computer but when I press keys on the NumPad there is no response. I have tried it on the Calculator and on Sibelius. Any clues??

    Here's how to do it.
    1. App Store, iTunes Store should have the same AppleID on Computer and iPhones. (Free to share apps, music and books... )
    2. Person A uses the same purchasing account for everything (ie. email, contacts and ...).
    3. Person B have the same purchase account see no. 1 (for App Store and iTunes Store) but create a second AppleID for iCal, e-mail, contacts  and etc.

  • Add new key figs or characteristics and "Repair full request"

Hi Gurus, here are my questions
1.If I add new key figs or characteristics(which are not Key fields) to ODS and Cube containing tons of data, Will the transport for structure changes fail due to presence of data?
2.The extractor to the ODS which inturn is feeding the cube, is delta enabled. So the newly added objects wont have entries for historical records. If I change this extractor to "Repair full request" after adding the new fields, will the new fields then get populated?
    3. After the "Repair Full Request" activity, Can I change the Infopackage setting back to delta update mode?
Thanks for the help in advance!!
    Simmi

    Hello Simmi,
    1. Transport should go fine. As you are not changing the key fields, it should not cause any problem even if data is present.
    2. Yes. But make sure what data you want to laod. As with full repair, system is not going to check for duplicate data. The responsibility lies with you.
    3. Sure. if you mark the full load as repair, the delta settings will be unaffected.
    Hope it helps.

    Praveen
