Bringing old IDE Array to this new MB

I have 2 80MB maxtor IDE drives in a bootable RAID array on my old mother board.  I want to know if there is a way to make the neo platinum recognize this old array and boot from it.  I would rather not reformat my only drive and lose all of my data.
My old board is an MSI KT3 ultra ARU with at athlon xp 1800.

Thanks Wonka,
The desktop RAID world still seems fairly new.  I was hopeful that the new RAID system would be able to pick up the old RAID system.  This board is capable of IDE RAID.  This is a significant downside to using RAID.  I've read others here say there isn't any value in RAID 0 desktop anyway.  If you can't take your drive system with you when you upgrade... that's a real loss.  The lack of upgradablity should give anyone pause then when considering RAID.

    I have a new IMAC with a Maverick platform (I can update to Yosemite). I did all graphics on a G5 Power PC (very old), in Freehand (very old)...

    Can I still open and work in Freehand on this new Mac?

    Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
    Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
    After this, do an update from the App Store.
    Thats all there is to it.
    For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
    Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
    There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though.

  • How can I get the old version back, because this new is so poor, it doesn't work. My curcor doesn't appeart and can use secont tab.

    If I have one tab open and I try to open other, cursor doen't appeart. And If I open youtube I can't write for the search box.
    So I want the old version back, how can I get it.

    First you'll need to download the old version from here.
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    Once you have chosen your language and operating system type then download it from the list on that page.
    Next you will have to uninstall the current version of Firefox by using the add/remove programs option under control panel. After the current Firefox has been removed you can then run the installer for the old version. Using this method will not save your bookmarks or any addon's/extensions so make sure you have a list of the addon's you want to get back and you can also backup your bookmarks from within your current version of Firefox prior to removing it.
    Do note that some extensions that you may have installed were installed by 3rd party programs and they will not be reinstalled until the program that installed them has been either updated or reinstalled as well.

  • I have an old and new mac and used transfer manager to put the old mac on the new so that i have both users on one computer but now I can only log in as the new and as guest so cant access my old computer docs on this newer mac.  Help!

    Hello I have just sold my old macbook and so transfered all my data to my newer macbook using transfer manager.  This allowed my to login on the newer computer under either the old or new username so I could access both computers' data on my newer computer.  Last night that worked but today I can only access my newer user and a guest user.  Where did my old user name and all the data go after the transfer?  Help please! I have to give the buyer the old computer today!
    Aminah

    I am not familiar with "transfer manager." Did you perhaps use the Migration Assistant? What operating system is installed on your new computer?
    If you look in your hard drive, in the Users folder, do you see a folder with the name from your user on your old computer?
    Best of luck.

  • I recently purchased a new iPad 2 and transferred all of my data from my old iPad 2 to this new one my friends can no longer call me on FaceTime how can I fix the problem

    Help

    Therefore, t there any way to just completely delete all the old backup data out of my Time Capsule from my prior Mac Laptop?
    Here is how to do this:
    Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
    Click the Disks icon at the top of the AirPort Utility window
    Click the Disks tab below the icons
    Click Erase
    The "Quick Erase" option will only take a moment or two
    Now you can backup your MacBook Pro. If you connect an Ethernet cable from the MBP to one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC, the first backup will go 3-5 times faster than wireless.
    Once you have the first backup done, you can use wireless for subsequent backups since they will only take a few minutes

  • Adding IDE HDD to a new system with SATA Installed

    HUGE NEWB... Sorry to add more to the SATA questions but I can't figure out how to add my old IDE HDD to my new system that has a S-ATA HDD. The S-ATA is set up as a RAID an I have the IDE on it's own cable set as master. The Bios shows that it is there but when the system boots it will go fine until the end of the boot sequence where it looks like a blue screen then reboots very quickly. I looked up some previous threads but all of them seem to have different bios options than my own. System boots fine without the added IDE HDD
    mobo= ms-7103
    P4 2.93mhz
    Seagate 160g S-ATA HDD
    Maxtor 80g IDE HDD
    IDE NEC DVD-RW

    As far as the priority goes I have:
    cd/dvd
    IDE 0
    IDE 1
    When I go to the normal bios settings I see that it says:
    IDE Primary Master      = Maxtor (the Old IDE HDD)
    IDE Primary Slave        = None
    IDE Secondary Master  = NEC DVD RW
    IDE Secondary Slave    =None
    Floppy not Installed
    I don't see the SATA but that might be normal I don't know
    The SATA controller is enabled with RAID also Enabled
    I tried to see what the blue screen says but It is too quick and I can't catch it with pause/break
    I disconnected the DVD and used it's ribbon cable and it did the same thing, blue screen. The old HDD  was the boot drive on the old machine would that make a difference if it was still formatted  to be a bootable drive even if it was third in the boot sequence? The mobo is listed as ms-7103 on the board and the retail name is 661FM3-V
    Thanks for the help thus far!

  • My dad and I have shared an iTunes account for years and I just created a new apple id but I have no Idea how to get all those purchases to this new account. Help please?

    My dad and I have shared an iTunes account for years and I just created a new apple id but I have no Idea how to get all those purchases to this new account. Help please?

    The old Apple ID (presumably your dads) owns those songs and your new Apple ID does not.  However, your dad can authorize your iD to use the songs by going to Store > Authorize This Computer from your iTunes menu and entering his Apple ID and password.

  • I have a new email address. Changed this on my itunes account. On iPhone deleted old icloud account and created new with new email. I have set find my phone to on. When I download music it no longer goes to icloud an does not show up on my iphone.

    I have a new email address. Changed this on my itunes account. On iPhone deleted old icloud account and created new with new email. I have set find my phone to on. When I download music from itunes it no longer goes to icloud an does not show up on my iphone.

    I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
    The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
    The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
    Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

  • How can I supply elements of an array to the New-ADUser Class. Or can I do this another way?

    Hi, I want to write a function to create a new user, and I want to keep it as simple as possible.
    For example, I want to be able to call the function like.
    CreateNewUser John Doe
    The function itself will need to pass the value of the name, in this example John Doe into an array. And then I want to be able to reference that array for everything else.
    e.g
    Function CreateNewUser($fname,$lname)
    [string[]]]$objName = $fname,$lname
    New-ADUser -name $objname -givenname $objname[0] -surname $objname[1]
    I hope you get the idea. Is this possible, am I doing it right, and is there a better way of doing this?
    Thanks

    If you are just trying to make it look a bit cleaner you can use splatting so new-aduser isn't incredibly long...here is an example.
    $Params = @{
    Name = $DisplayName
    SamAccountName = $SamAccountName
    UserPrincipalName = $UserPrincipalName
    GivenName = $GivenName
    Surname = $Surname
    DisplayName = $DisplayName
    Path = $Path
    AccountPassword = $Password
    Enabled = $True
    ChangePasswordAtLogon = $True
    HomeDirectory = $HomeDirectory
    ScriptPath = $ScriptPath
    EmployeeID = $EmployeeID
    Department = $Department
    Division = $Division
    New-ADUser @Params
    The splatting will definitely help, but I think what the OP is really looking for is a wrapper to make the command line really simple. I have a function I use called Copy-AdUser that does several things internally to support our business needs. The command
    line is simple:
    Copy-AdUser -Instance gwashing -GivenName Abraham -SurName Lincoln -Title President -Location 'White House'
    Now you may not need to copy an existing user, but the ideas are the same. You can accept basic information about the user as parameter values and then in the guts of the function you can calculate all the other attributes, group membership, etc. The function
    looks something like this:
    Function Copy-ADUser {
    #.SYNOPSIS
    # Creates new Active Directory user based on attributes #and group membership of an existing user
    #.DESCRIPTION
    # Creates an Active Directory user based on an existing #user's group membership and Organizational Unit.
    # Requires that the MS Active Directory module is loaded.
    #.EXAMPLE
    # Copy-AdUser -Instance gwashing -GivenName Abraham #-SurName Lincoln -Title "President" -Location "White House"
    [CmdletBinding()]
    Param
    # Template user. Copies parent OU and group membership
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$true,Position=0)]
    $Instance,
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$True,Position=1)]
    [String]$GivenName,
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$True,Position=2)]
    [String]$SurName,
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$True,Position=3)]
    [String]$Title,
    # building code for primary location
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$True,Position=4)]
    [String]$Location,
    # Optional. Department or division (IT, HR, etc.)
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$False)]
    [String]$Department,
    # Optionally specify the SAMAccountName if it needs to be different than the standard formula
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$False)]
    [string]$SamAccountName = ($GivenName.tolower().substring(0,1) +
    $SurName.ToLower().Substring(0, [System.Math]::Min(7, $SurName.Length))),
    # Optionally specify the UPN prefix if it needs to be different.
    # This will be used for email addresses and the UPN
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$False)]
    [string]$UPNPrefix = ($GivenName.tolower() + '.' + $SurName.tolower())
    # company specific variables
    $EmailDomain = '@domain.com'
    $HomeFolderPath = '\\Server\Share'
    # calculate stuff
    $Instance = Get-ADUser $Instance -Properties *
    $OU = $Instance |
    Select-Object @{n='ParentContainer';e={$_.DistinguishedName -replace "CN=$($_.cn),",''}}
    $ADGroups = $Instance.MemberOf
    $UserPrincipalName = ($UPNPrefix + $EmailDomain)
    $FirstLast = "$GivenName $SurName"
    $Proxies = "SMTP:$UserPrincipalName"
    $HomeFolder = "$HomeFolderPath\$($SAMAccountName.ToUpper())"
    # Create the Active Directory User
    If(Get-ADUser -Filter {SAMAccountName -eq $SAMAccountName})
    Write-Warning "User with name $SamAccountName already exists!
    Please try again and specify unique values for the -samaccountname and -UPNPrefix parameters."
    Return
    Else
    $Attributes = @{
    Name = $FirstLast
    GivenName = $GivenName
    SurName = $SurName
    UserPrincipalName = $UserPrincipalName
    SAMAccountname = $SAMAccountName
    AccountPassword = (Read-host -assecurestring 'Enter Password')
    DisplayName = $FirstLast
    Description = "$Location $Title"
    EmailAddress = $UserPrincipalName
    homedrive = 'H:'
    HomeDirectory = $HomeFolder
    ScriptPath = 'login.bat'
    Title = $Title
    Company = $Location
    Department = $Department
    path = $OU.ParentContainer
    Enabled = $True
    OtherAttributes = @{proxyaddresses=$Proxies}
    New-Aduser @Attributes
    # Add User to the same groups as the UserToCopy
    $ADGroups |
    ForEach-Object {
    Add-ADGroupMember -Identity $_ -Members $SAMAccountName
    # Create home folder and set permissions
    Do
    Set-FolderPermission -Path $HomeFolder -User $SamAccountName -Permission 'Fullcontrol' -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    Until
    (Get-ACL $Homefolder).Access.IdentityReference -like "*$SamAccountName*"
    Please note this is probably not ready for you to use. You can change any of the internal logic to support naming schemes and paths that your organization uses. Also, there is a call to a function at the bottom that creates a home folder and sets permissions
    on that folder. I haven't included that function so this part will error out.

    We want to set up a senario for a retail customer like this :
    The customer brings in the old product example an old TV and buys a new TV/LCD .How to set up this senario

    The Old TV should be treated as an RMA and appropriate credit should be given on the RMA line.
    If the old TV must be purchased from your company, then you can enforce that the RMA must be lined to a sales order.
    If you allow the customer to bring a TV that was purchased somewhere else, then you can skip the above rule.

  • I hate this new version of iTunes.  How can I get the old version back?

    Anybody have any ideas how I can get the old iTunes version back?  This new one is almost impossible to use, at least the way I use it.

    In the old version, when I logged in to the store, it automatically updated the podcasts to which I was subscribed.  The new format carries no dates and very little identification so that I know what I don't yet have when I go to a new podcast.  The music I searched for was sorely lacking; I know they have more Brubeck than what I found because I have done a similar search in the past and there were many more choices.  It's just a mess trying to find what I want.  I'm afraid to plug in the iPod for fear of this new program screwing up what I have.  I don't want to have to reload all my music and reorganize it.  It's good to know I'm not alone in my dissatisfaction.  And Apple makes it very difficult to give them direct feedback.  Most sites at least have a "Contact Us" option.  I've gotten a ton of email since I posted this afternoon.  Hope that wasn't a mistake.
