Bringing Quicktime movies or iphoto slideshows into ipod video

Hi, Just got a new 60gb ipod w/ video. Can I bring quicktime movies I have made by exporting slideshows in iphoto into the ipod? When I try, the movies are grayed out and not an option.
Also, is it possible to bring the slideshows from iphoto directly to the ipod without making it into quicktime movie first?
Thanks!

no still got 7.0.1, but i was using isquint to convert
do u know if i will have to pay to upgrade form full version quicktime 7.0.1 to 7.1.3?
Hey thanx

    Is it possible to import an iPhoto slideshow into an iPad?

    Hi Constance,
    You would first need to export the slideshow from iPhoto as a Quicktime movie.
    Then you can view it on your iPad.
    Here's how:
    iPhoto '11: Export a slideshow

    iPhoto '11: View photos or slideshows on iPod, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV

    Hope this information helps ...

  • Insert an iPhoto SlideShow into iDVD

    I do not succeed in inserting a SlideShow from iPhoto into iDVD including audio and slide effects. Only pictures will be inserted. Even exporting the slideshow from iPhoto into a QuickTime movie is losing the audio and slide effects. Can anyone give some advice what's going wrong?

    You cannot import an iPhoto Slideshow into iDVD and keep the audio and transition effects from iPhoto.
    See this: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8828619&#8828619
    You need to create the slideshow directly in iDVD, and add the audio and transitions from withing iDVD.
    Your transitions must be the same between the photos.
    It is reported here that you can do this with Quick Time: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10356386&#10356386
    Have a look at these threads, for using iPhoto and iMovie: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2299375&tstart=0

  • Importing iphoto slideshows into imovie without degradation?

    I'm sure this has been asked before but I can not find an answer... I have created slideshows in iphoto and when I export/import into imovie they are horrible degraded and pixelated. Is there any way to import them and keep their quality from iphoto? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I know I can do Ken Burns on pictures directly in Imovie, but I would have to re-edit all of my portrait oriented photos so that they aren't cropped when the KB effect is applied and I'd rather not - I am happy with how the slideshows turn out in iphoto - if only they didn't look horrible once exported!

    I exported my slideshows as quicktime movies and imported them into iMovie as movie clips. They look good in playback. Of course I'm having other problems laying music over it, but it may be a problem unrelated to the Quicktime .mov files.

  • Viewing quicktime movies from iphoto 08

    I just upgrade to Snow Leopard, I use to be able to view quicktime movies from Iphotos in Leopard, now if i click on the movie nothing happens, From Quicktime doesnt seem to want to open my library where the movies are located. These are small video max 30 secs from my digital camera?

    If I upgrade to iphoto 09 will this problem go away?
    No. Not if you don't install Quicktime 7 Player from the Snow Leopard install disk. You can do a custom install and select the Quicktime 7 Player as the only item to install. That should fix the issue.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Keynote '08: How to export an iPhoto slideshow into Keynote

    Is it possible to export an iphoto slideshow into keynote?
    Thanks!

    Answered my own question! Exported iPhoto slideshow to desktop - where it appeared as a .mov file -- then dragged & dropped that into Keynote. It plays there, photos & music exactly as designed in iPhoto - remote works to start and stop also! Perfect!

  • Inserting iphoto slideshow into fcp project

    Is it possible to insert an iphoti slideshow into a fcphd 4.5 project? A friend hired me to create a slideshow for her son's funeral and then to videotape the funeral. Now I would like to insert the slideshow into the video of the funeral but haven't the slightest clue how to do so.
    Any help would be MOST appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,

    You can't as far as I can see...
    Right, and I should have realized that when I put the screenshot up.
    Sorry. Another reason not to do the slideshow in iPhoto.
    One alternative, I guess, is to burn the iPhoto slideshow to DVD using the Share -> Send to iDVD command. Then you can rip that DVD back into QuickTime using DVDxDV or ffmpegX or something else.

  • How can i turn an iphoto slideshow into a book?

    I am wondering how I can turn an iphoto slideshow into a book?

    No - you can make a book from the same photos but not form the slide show - smiply elect the same photos (probably in the album you made the slide show from) and make a new book from them

  • How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?

    How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?

    If you MacBook Pro came with Lion preinstalled then you will not have a copy of iDVD.  That's because iDVD and iWeb have been discontinued by Apple and is not longer being included in iLife.
    You can purchase a copy from Amazon.com: iLive 11.
    If you do have Lion this post will self destruct in 10, 9, 8... seconds and you can follow Terence's directionsl
    As for iDVD the following is a recommended workflow to follow;
    Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
    To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
    Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Quicktime iPhoto Slideshow to iPod

    Took iPhoto slideshow and exported it to iDVD. In the process it creates a Quicktime movie which can be moved to iTunes video and played. But when iPod is connected it says it cannot load it. Message suggests I convert format for iPod but only conversion option I can find is to convert to ACC, which I tried but it said file was protected. I'm a fairly green user and can't understand why a file create by iPhoto which can be used in iTunes cannot be accepted by iPod.
    Any help out there?

    If you want to sync the slideshow as a movie, it must conform to an iPod compatible movie format -- i.e., either MPEG-4/AAC or H.264/AAC format. To do this, simply select the file in question and use the "Convert Selection for iPod" option under either the advanced menu or the right-click contextual menu.

  • IPhoto Slideshow on iPod

    Is it possible to copy a slideshow created in iPhoto 08 to a video iPod?

    Bruce F
    Yes and no.
    No, you can't copy the slideshow over straight via iTunes as all you get to Sync with iTunes are albums. But Yes, you can export a Slideshow as a Quicktime Movie (File -> Export) and bring that onto the iPod.

  • Importing iPhoto Slideshow into DVD SP3

    Sorry if this is a basic &/or repeated question. I've designed and built a slideshow in iPhoto 5.0.4 and set it for iDVD/TV output (4:3). When I bring the resulting quicktime mov file into DVDSP, it horizontally squishes the movie. Is this because the nature of square versus rectangular pixels? I've tried bringing the file into quicktime pro and adding some horizontal length to compensate for this (720 to 760), and though it saves the file to that size, it decidedly doesn't show that way in DVDSP (still views as 720). I've looked in the manual and self-help books for DVDSP 3 & iPhoto to no avail. Probably an easy answer I'm missing. Thanks for any ideas you can offer. -M.

    Thanks for replying. 720 x 480 is indeed the specs I'm using to export the slideshow from iPhoto. Yet for some reason, when viewing it in DVDSP, it horizontally compresses the movie. (Squishes it.) Is there something I'm missing on the DVDSP end?

  • How do I get Javascript or HTML to open a QuickTime movie as a slideshow?

    I have turned a 320x240 pixel photo sequence into a QuickTime movie using the "File > Open Image Sequence ..." option. However, that required I specify an equal amount of time to display each photo.
    Using the following JavaScript, I can, from within a webpage, play that QuickTime movie as a movie in another window by simply clicking on the link to it in the webpage:
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    <!-- hide this script from old browsers
    // This script opens a new browser window and writes
    // HTML to play an video with a title and caption
    function show_movie( pFileName, pTitle, pCaption, pEnd) {
    // specify window parameters
    movieWin = window.open( "", "", "width=370,height=400,status,scrollbars,resizable");
    // wrote content to window
    movieWin.document.write('<html><head><title>' + pTitle + '</title></head>');
    movieWin.document.write('<BODY BGCOLOR=#000000 TEXT=#FFFFCC LINK=#33CCFF VLINK=#FF6666>');
    movieWin.document.write('<center>');
    movieWin.document.write('<font size="+1" face="arial,helvetica"><b>' + pCaption + '</b></font><br>');
    movieWin.document.write('<object width="320" height="256">');
    movieWin.document.write('<embed src="' + pFileName + '" width="320" height="256" autostart="true" pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/"></embed></object><p>');
    movieWin.document.write('<font face="arial,helvetica">');
    movieWin.document.write('' + pEnd + '<br>');
    movieWin.document.write('<p></font></body></html>');
    movieWin.document.write('<form>');
    movieWin.document.write('<input type=button value="Close Window" onClick="javascript:window.close();" name="button">');
    movieWin.document.write('</form>');
    movieWin.document.close();
    // If we are on NetScape, we can bring the window to the front
    if (navigator.appName.substring(0,8) == "Netscape") movieWin.focus();
    // done hiding from old browsers -->
    </SCRIPT>
    But some photos need to be displayed for a longer time than others.
    QuickTime 7.1.2 "View > Present Movie > Slideshow > Play" will play the movie as a slideshow -- the person looking at it has full control over how much time a photo is displayed before going to the next one.
    My JavaScript allows the user to pause the movie and continue it at will, but if I can modify it to play the movie directly as a slideshow like QuickTime 7.1.2, please let me know how.
    Thank you.

  • Cannot export quicktime movie from iPhoto

    latest imac (brand new)

    when i try to export a slideshow as a quicktime movie...it renders the quicktime movie...then when it goes into the "saving" phase...it just keeps saving and never ends...
    but it will let me save a high quality mp4 movie...
    it seems to be something with the quicktime format
    (i posted to the iphoto forum...no replies...it seems to relate the quicktime format...so thought maybe someone here could help)

    I had the same problem and figured it out. I had a FLA from the office and took it home to work on. At the office I was exporting to a folder on the staging server and had my SWF and HTML Publish settings set up that way. At home I tried to export the same FLA to quicktime (along came the aforementioned error). I made a folder on my local drive, set my publish settings for my SWF and HTML to export there, published, and low and behold, I was able to export to Quicktime. Problem solved.
