BRM: What is the use of Role Mapping???

Hi All,
This seems to be very stupid query. However, I am stuck with this simple understanding.
In BRM document located in SCN, it says that:
a.  Role mapping allows related roles mapped to a Single Role
b.  These roles are provisioned when the Single Role is provisioned
May I know:
1. If different single roles can be mapped to the single role being created using BRM?
2 As far point#b above, does it mean that as soon as the single role is assigned to a user, all the "mapped" roles are also assigned in the back end system?
3. I tried point#2 above, however, the mapped role is not assigned to the user. By the way, I assigned the role in the backend system through PFCG.
How it is different from Business Role?
Please help me understand this concept and the system behavior.
Regards,
Faisal

Hi Faisal,
Your understanding is perfect and that's how role mapping works. I just tested in my system and it is working fine and we are on GRC SP13.
Please check if you could request roles XYZ & TEST directly (just to be sure they are in BRM).
If yes, please attach screenshot how you have mapped those roles.
Regards,
Madhu.

    Hi Vamsi,
    When we are doing JAVA , XSLT mappings we have to do import archievs
    after developing the JAva mapping in NWDS and create jar file come back to IR under imported archieves we will import the jar file.
    Similarly XSLT als make the zip and import under imported archieves
    Also when we have any java packages ,import it under archieves and make them to use in UDF

  • What is the use of guid in CRM?

    Hi ,
    what is the use of guid in crm.
    there is nothing like this in r/3.if the data is to flow in from r/3 to crm or crm - r/3 is do we verify the guid.partner guid or product guid.
    please make me understand this.
    thank you,

    GUIDs are system generated unique keys which identifies CRM objects (campaigns, sales documents, business partners, products etc.). CRM & MSA works on GUIDs. Most of the table relationships are defined on GUIDs.
    Important CRM tables:
    COMM_PRODUCT : Products
    CRMC_T077D : customer account groups
    CRMD_ORDERADM_H (for header) CRMD_ORDERADM_I (Item data)
    CRMD_ORDERADM_H Business Transactions CRM
    CRMD_ACTIVITY_H Activity
    CRMD_OPPORT_H Opportunity
    BUTOO : Customer details

    BUT100 BP: Roles
    BUT150 BP relationship: Attribute table (test

    All transactions are uniquely identified by their guids internally
    Transaction numbers are not unique
    System calls a function module GUID_CREATE to create a unique GUID everytime you create a transaction.
    Whenever you are creating some transaction programatically you will have to first create a unique GUID for the transaction by calling GUID_CREATE.
    Look at What is GUID in CRM & its significance please? maybe it helps

  • What is the use of HTTPS 8181 port

    Hi,
    I am wondering what is the use of the port 8181 on the EE5 application server.
    the second question. Why the application server open so many port on the same local machine. I agree that for security raison it is a good idea. But does application serveur use tcp connection to communicate between the server thread ?
    So it is possible to add a thread in the serveur application to process some internal work. And of course it is possible to include this new thread in the communication process of the server ?
    Can we have the map of all the tcp trhead use by the server application.
    Regards
    Herve Terrolle.

    Your app has to run as root to listen on ports up to 1024,
    also, some other app (apache?) may already be listening on port 443.
    AFAICT port 8181 is just arbitrarily chosen, it might as well have been port 4430, or any other free port above 1024.

  • What is the use of Grand total level in obiee ,

    hi ,
    i know that we can perform drill down from one level to another level, level base measures ,aggregate atble.................
    apart from that any other user if so pls give me one small example
    What is the use of Grand total level in obiee

    When you start to use multi-star models and none-conforming dimensions, you will use the grand total level to tell the BI Server what to do with the measures when you try and plot them all in the same answers request.
    Also consider any meaure you want to perform a '% of total' you will need the total mapped somewhere, this could use the Grand total level as a level based measure.

  • What are the best approaches for mapping re-start in OWB?

    What are the best approaches for mapping re-start in OWB?
    We are using OWB repository 10.2.0.1.0 and OWB client 10.2.0.1.31. The Oracle version is 10 G (10.2.0.3.0). OWB is installed on Linux.
    We have number of mappings. We built process flows for mappings as well.
    I like to know, what are the best approches to incorportate re-start options in our process. ie a failure of mapping in process flow.
    How do we re-cycle failed rows?
    Are there any builtin features/best approaches in OWB to implement the above?
    Does runtime audit tables help us to build re-start process?
    If not, do we need to maintain our own tables (custom) to maintain such data?
    How did our forum members handled above situations?
    Any idea ?
    Thanks in advance.
    RI

    Hi RI,
    How many mappings (range) do you have in a process flows?Several hundreds (100-300 mappings).
    If we have three mappings (eg m1, m2, m3) in process flow. What will happen if m2 fails?Suppose mappings connected sequentially (m1 -> m2 -> m3). When m2 fails then processflow is suspended (transition to m3 will not be performed). You should obviate cause of error (modify mapping and redeploy, correct data, etc) and then repeat m2 mapping execution from Workflow monitor - open diagram with processflow, select mapping m2 and click button Expedite, choose option Repeat.
    In re-start, will it run m1 again and m2 son on, or will it re-start at row1 of m2?You can specify restart point. "at row1 of m2" - I don't understand what you mean (all mappings run in Set based mode, so in case of error all table updates will rollback,
    but there are several exception - for example multiple target tables in mapping without corelated commit, or error in post-mapping - you must carefully analyze results of error).
    What will happen if m3 fails?Process is suspended and you can restart execution from m3.
    By having without failover and with max.number of errors=0, you achieve re-cycle failed rows to zero (0).This settings guarantee existence only two return result of mapping - SUCCSES or ERROR.
    What is the impact, if we have large volume of data?In my opinion for large volume Set based mode is the prefered processing mode of data processing.
    With this mode you have full range enterprise features of Oracle database - parallel query, parallel DML, nologging, etc.

  • What is the Use of  "Alter database activate standby database"

    Hi ,
    I appreciate your time.
    I just wanted to know what is the use of "Alter database activate standby database" command when doing the failover. How different it will act in failover process. Can we use this command in SwitchOver.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Uwe Hesse,
    Wonderfull... good info....
    So my understanding is that the use of "ACTIVATE PHYSICAL STANDBY DATABASE" is conditional and depends on the redo log gap and the Database status(Able to mount or not).
    Condition 1: If the Db is in Mount state and Redo log gap is successfully filled.
    1) Flush any unsent redo from the primary database to the target standby database.
    SQL> ALTER SYSTEM FLUSH REDO TO target_db_name;
    Note: If the above Statement Completes successfully without any errors.
    2) Stop Redo Apply.
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE CANCEL;
    3) Finish applying all received redo data.
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE FINISH;
    4) Verify that the target standby database is ready to become a primary database.
    SQL> SELECT SWITCHOVER_STATUS FROM V$DATABASE;
    5) Switch the physical standby database to the primary role.
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE COMMIT TO SWITCHOVER TO PRIMARY WITH SESSION SHUTDOWN;
    Condition 2: If the DB is not able Mount and Redo Gap can't be filled.
    Important Note: If the the above command in STEP3 gives error, some received redo data was not applied. Try to resolve the cause of the error and re-issue the statement before proceeding.
    If the error condition cannot be resolved, a failover can still be performed (with some data loss) by issuing the following SQL statement on the target standby database:
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE ACTIVATE PHYSICAL STANDBY DATABASE;
    Thanks in advance.

            <filter-class>atg.servlet.ErrorFilter</filter-class>
        </filter>

            <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
            <dispatcher>ERROR</dispatcher>
        </filter-mapping>
        <filter-mapping>
            <filter-name>ForwardFilter</filter-name>
            <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
            <dispatcher>FORWARD</dispatcher>
            <dispatcher>ERROR</dispatcher>
        </filter-mapping>
        <filter-mapping>
            <filter-name>PageFilter</filter-name>
            <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
            <dispatcher>REQUEST</dispatcher>
            <dispatcher>ERROR</dispatcher>
            <dispatcher>FORWARD</dispatcher>
        </filter-mapping>
    what is the use of these filters what will happend if i remove these filters in web.xml file
    please give me clear picture on these 3 filters and how these filters are helpful in our application.

    As the name filter suggest, All the request will go though these filters if certian condition is satisfied
    In ATG web.xml contains following filter:
    <filter>
        <filter-name>PageFilter</filter-name>
        <filter-class>atg.filter.dspjsp.PageFilter</filter-class>
    </filter>
    <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>PageFilter</filter-name>
        <url-pattern>*.jsp</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>
    When there is .jsp in url pattern all the request will go through Page Filter.
    Filter is java concept.For More details about Filter, Refer http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19502-01/819-3669/6n5sg7b0b/index.html
    In order to process Jsp request, ATG use Page filter. It converts normal HttpRequest/HttpResponse to DynamoHttpRequest/DynamoHttpResponse. Please refer http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24152_01/Platform.10-1/ATGPlatformProgGuide/html/s0801requesthandlingwithservletpipeli01.html

  • What is the use of 3 controllers in webdynpro application?

    Hi experts,
              I have seen that in a webdynpro component (ABAP) there are three(3) controllers namely, Component controller, View Controller and Interface controller.
    Why do we have 3 controllers? For what conditions I can use them? When to use Component controller, View Controller and Interface controller?
    thanks
    Gopal

    Hi Gopal
    The purpose and usage of 3 controllers are :
    1. View Controller is associated with a view .It is used for context elements/mapping, code etc that is specific to the view only.It's lifetime is only the duration for which the view is shown.
    2.Component Controller is linked with the particular webdynpro component.It's a common place inside the controller in which context creation/mapping, code, functions are kept and it is shared by all views inside the controller.
    Note: Custom controller is same as component controller which the user creates.
    3. Interface controller is the place when you use the functionalities of a external component preferably DC (development component features which are published thru Public part - for sharing with other DC).
    So if you are using the context, code, functions of a "Used DC" you use the Interface Controller.
    Practically many developers are creating several DC and the sharing of code happens thru Public part.You add DC in the "Used DC" node , map the context to component controller and map again the view controller for the specific nodes you require.
    Pleas post for more information.
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Ananda

    Hi Gurus
    1. what is the use of NoAccess Role in Financial reports?
    regards
    Sarilla

    I have never really used it, but I guess it could be used in a case like this: You disable the reports for a period of time and want to keep the users in the access list, so when you enable the reports again, you could basically just edit their access instead of starting from scratch.
    Or here is another one. You give access to a group, but want to exclude a user, who belongs to this group from viewing the report.

  • What is the use  implemention of work flow

    Hi guis,
      can u plz tell me what is the uses, u implement a workflow, and also please give the one scenrio on purchase order or invoice or anything, one scenrio explain me.

    Workflow is a tool for automating the business process so that the process itself flows smoothly, without bottlenecks and without dead ends. Critical parts of the process can be streamlined with deadline monitoring and contingency options. Participants are informed of milestones in the process. The process definition itself is powerful enough to allow business re-engineering with re-training and to eliminate the impact of workforce changes on the basic business process.
    SAP Business Workflow is the R/3 tool for handling the process automation within R/3 or between R/3 systems and other systems involved in the business process. It is flexible enough to handle ad hoc processes such as the circulation of an electronic document. It is robust enough to handle mission critical process in the production system such as the creation of a material master.
    The different R/3 applications supply standard workflows for the commonly occurring processes. Once these workflow templates are activated, they are ready for immediate use. A complete set of workflow tools, including the workflow editor and workflow generation wizard, are provided to enhance these standard workflows or create new workflows. These tools are complemented with transactions for monitoring, tracking and the statistical analysis of the processes.
    Because the business process often does not step at the R/3 boundary, various interfaces and third party tools are available for extending the process across systems.
    Workflow is the technique for automating business processes. It is particularly beneficial
    u2022 when different people are involved in different parts of the process
    u2022 when a process only occurs sporadically and the users need to be reminded of what they need to do
    u2022 when the duration of the process is critical and deadlines have to be met
    u2022 when the process definition is likely to change on the fly and retraining users is not possible.
    By automating the process, you free the users from having to know what to do when. Work items are sent to the participants notifying them of what they have to do, and a single click on the notification calls the correct transaction and navigates to the relevant screen.
    When the workflow runs it creates work items which are like e-mails, but
    u2022 they have the advantage that they contain the intelligence needed to execute the relevant task with the correct data when the operational user executes them,
    u2022 they provide their own functionality so that the operational user has access to everything that is useful to improve the flow of the process,
    u2022 they disappear on their own when they have been executed by someone else or made obsolete.
    These work items can be received in the R/3 business workplace, MS Outlook (or any other MAPI compatible client), Lotus Notes, or work item notifications can be distributed by e-mail.
    SAP Business Workflow:
    u2022 accelerates the workflow across applications, functional areas, organizational units, and time periods,
    u2022 supplements the integrated management of processes in the SAP System with individually tailored options for automating and actively controlling business and communication processes,
    u2022 combines integrated organizational management with flexible assignment of tasks and responsibilities to locations, positions, jobs, groups, or individuals,
    u2022 actively supports a quick implementation of workflow technologies through predefined workflow templates, Workflow Wizards and flexible adjustment options,
    u2022 integrates every employee in the value chain by providing a versatile integrated inbox ("universal inbox") at their work centers that can be configured individually,
    u2022 provides a Workflow Information System that is the foundation for process change management and continuous business engineering,
    u2022 was designed to be a change-management tool,
    u2022 simplifies continuous business engineering and process change management with user-friendly tools for defining and dynamically changing workflow tasks
    u2022 conforms to the workflow standards of the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC)
    u2022 interfaces to other mail clients such as Lotus Notes and MS Outlook
