Broadband Extra Use Charges

On the online usage monitor it states that "if you exceed your usage allowance, you'll be charge additional usage in units of five gigabytes (GB), at £5 per 5GB. Charges will apply from the second month you exceed your allowance and will be shown on your BT bill."
When it refers to "second month" does this mean that second month ever that you exceed bill? I.e. if I exceeded my allowance once in 2008 was not charged, would I be charged if I were to it exceed it this month? Is it two months within the same year? Is anyone able to clarify the timeframe? Many thanks.

I don't think 4 yrs is correct, if records are kept the maximum can only be within the contract period. The way I understand it is, if you exceed UA 2 mts in a row, BT will charge you. Otherwise they can't put it on your next bill for the period in question.
Typically wrong on both counts. When a contract period is up, the service continues on a month by month basis and the Terms & Conditions, which specify the broadband usage limits, continue to apply. Also, you know very well that usage limits are not restricted to consecutive months, this having been discussed in another thread very recently.
You really do need to learn to distinguish between what you would like and how things actually are in the real world. You're giving enquirers no help at all by continually posting inaccurate information.

  • BT can't provide details of extra BB charges

I've just had my first email regarding extra BB charges, they've advised me that £4 will be added to my next bill.
I emailed them and asked for full details of my daily usage for last month and have been told that
"BT will not be able to provide you the details of the broadband usage due to security reasons"
So BT expect me to pay for something that they can't provide details of.
    This surely can't be right.
    Del.

    Hi,
I am just wondering if the charge is not for paying by Direct Debit?
I was slightly confused with our latest bill and the re-design and though i had extra charges but was actually better off because there was a discount for paying by direct debit and paperless billing.
Where abouts does this £4 appear on the bill? e.g. around broadband or phone calls?

  • HT1476 After update to either iOS 7.0.3 or 7.0.4, my iPhone 4S won't charge. I'm using charger and cable that came with the phone. Nothing else changed.

I'm using charger and cable that came with the phone. Nothing else changed.
I think it was the update the iOS 7.0.4 that I did last night. I woke up this morning with my battery almost drained and the charging function going off and on every few seconds, like it would start charging then disconnect, then reconnect repeatedly.
I've tried restarting the phone and hard restarting the phone several times, but I'm getting really low on battery by now (under 20%).
I've tried cleaning the connector with a little isopropyl alcohol, and blowing it out with compressed air. Though I can't be 100% certain, it's very unlikely my connector died exactly at the same time I was updating my phone. Especially since it appears I'm not the only one with this problem.
And now, after the last hard reset, my phone doesn't even recognize the charger at all, or being connected with the USB cable to my MacBook Pro.
I turned off my phone so when I go to the Apple Store it will power up one last time, but besides that I'm out of ideas.

Just back from Genius Bar and two other people at my table had the same problem. Their 4Ss aren't charging either. One of them had a fried board according to the tech. At least my HW checked out OK. It just won't charge.
The tech tried to tell me that it was because my connector was corroded, which I told him was kind of a weak argument since evidence points to that the update has something to do with it.
They're seeing a lot of these and it looks like they already have a script.
Luckily I had enough juice left to recycle it for like $180, so I picked up a 5S with a new 2 year.
It looked to me like this is going to blow up pretty big. Like class action lawsuit big.
If you have an iPhone 4 or 4S, and you haven't updated it to iOS 7, don't for now. See if a patch comes out that doesn't brick your phone. Or get an induction charger maybe? Don't just update and expect absolutely no problems because too many people are having problems right now.

  • BT Broadband Extra - Ordering

    Hi,
I recently received a letter from BT offering 'BT Broadband Extra' with an offer code to quote. The letter also says 'If you preferorder online and you'll also get a £25 Sainsburys Gift Card'.
I can't see anywhere that I can order this product through the website - I've tried going through the order process for Broadband in the hope a dialogue box to enter the offer code might appear at the billing stage, but that doesn't seem to be the case either. I'd rather order online and get the £25 card if possible...
Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks.

Would that be the "Unlimited Broadband Extra" that's about 1/2 way down this page? http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/broadband/packages
BT keep changing their packages, so it's hard to keep up.

  • Portege R830 - Forcing mobile broadband to use 3G/HSDPA with Win 8

    Greetings all,
Upgraded my Portege R830 to Windows 8 with no problem.
Since most of the Wireless Manager functionality has been moved into Windows, I can't find where I can 'force' the connection to 3G/HSDPA.
I live in an area where the signal is marginal and if I leave the network settings as default, it frequently switches to the stronger EDGE connection. With Wireless Manager, I connected using only 3G/HSDPA where 2 bars were sufficient for daily tasks.
Any light bulb moments? (Moving is unfortunately not an option ... ;) )

Hmm I think such setting isnt available in Win 8.
Microsoft provides a nice article about the broadband configuration using Win 8 and the mentioned configuration isnt there:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/mobile-broadband-from-start-to-finish
So from my understanding the best broadband signal will be chosen and used if its available.,

If you mean "can I get my power adapter replaced under warranty, at the Apple store?", yes.

It's the same username and password as in the web access point settings in your phone. You'll see the username but not the password, though. Contact your operator for that.

  • Can I use my iPhone 5S in Europe with the global services?  Am I exposed to extra roaming charges?

I am also traveling in the middle of a billing cycle.  Can I change my billing cycle to avoid this?

Yes you can use the 5S in Europe.  It is all roaming charges and expensive.   You can't change your billing cycle, though I am not sure why you want to Change it.  Check out Verizon global information to know rates in each country you are visiting.   Just so you are clear WARNING WARNING.  If you do not know what you are doing and use your phone in foreign countries, including all the countries of Europe, you can rack up tens of thousands (YES greater than $10,000) with very little effort.  Unless you know what you are doing, put the phone in airplane mode, and only then turn wifi on only.

  • Can`t load accu completely using an extra USB-charger - using the PC it wor

    Hallo all!
During my holidays a tried to charge my Zen Micro Photo without having a PC. I tried two methods - first I used a common power supply with 5V and a little workaround with two wires to load the built out accu. It worked fine until the accu was loaded apporximately up to 80%. I thought o.k., it looks that I can't save the money for a special UBS-travel-charger. That was my next step, I bought a little USB-charger (5V / 500mA)and spent nearly 30 Euros - the result was the same! Has anybody an idea or a hint for me?
    Thanks!
    LG
    hans

I would guess that 500mA is just plain not enough power to charge the device the whole way. I have a Vision:M and the A/C charger it came with is something like 3.6A (3600mA) I believe.

  • Upgrade to BT Unlimited Broadband Extra at a disco...

I've received an email from BT which starts:
'Last month you had to pay a bit extra for going over your monthly usage limit. You don't want that, and we don't want that – so how about a really special deal on unlimited broadband? We'll give you totally unlimited broadband and Unlimited UK* Anytime Calls for only £23 a month plus your usual line rental throughout. That's £5 lower than normal. You won't see this price advertised.'
I'm already on unlimited, I didn't pay any extra last month, I'm already paying less than the offer.
This is at best misleading, and at worst a blatant lie to try to get me to pay them more money.

I have received one of these and TBH it looks pretty genuine to me, it arrived on my email address that normally does not get any junk or spam, it has all the BT logos on and links to BTcom   the letter is signed by -:
    Libby Barr
Managing Director, BT Sales and Service
I did get an email last month as I had used 7Gb of my 10Gb cap and I have been contemplating upgrading to unlimited.
I have not clicked any of the links within the email but TBH it looks very genuine to me.

Below is what the email states (I have removed the HTML and links)

  • Total Broadband additional usage charges ...

I'm a loyal BT Phone & Broadband customer (have been for 15 years) and I was somewhat shocked upon receiving my latest quarterly bill to notice that my direct debit payments had been bumped up by quite a bit - closer investigation (of this and the previous bill!) revealed that I've been incurring significant additional broadband charges for at least the last 4 months (as I've exceeded the 10 Gb/month limit on Total Broadband 1).
I promptly called BT and got upgraded to the Total Broadband 3 package (300 Gb/month limit) and ended up with a cheaper deal all round than I had before!
This does however leave me about £150 out of pocket and with a slightly bitter taste in my mouth though ...
Granted, it's my problem for not noticing I'd started going over the 10 Gb/month limit early on [my excuse is that with a very busy life I tend to scan the headline figures on the first page of the bill and only investigate if these seem unusual]
Nevertheless, I would have expected BT, in the space of the last 6 months, to:
    a) have the courtesy to notify me more proactively that I'm exceeding the "fair usage" policy limits and/or
    b) Move me up to the next level automatically (seeing as it's ended up cheaper anyway?) and/or
    c) Have somebody call me to suggest that I might want to upgrade to save significant costs ...
Has anybody else had a similar experience ?
I will add though that I'm very happy with BT's service otherwise - just think this particular point merits raising as a matter of principle!

Hello alexm3.  Yes, I have had the same problem.  Although I already had a BT landline, I switched in Sep 2010 to a total broadband package Option 1, (at £7.99 p.m.) thinking 10gb was downloads.  Had an email to my normal aol.com account telling me after the first week that I'd used 7gb.  Took 3 weeks to upgrade to Option 2 with 40gb, still went over the usage, and incurred £50 charge, and this month is £20 extra charge, while waiting to upgrade to Option 3.
I have now been offered Option 3 at £40 p.m. plus line rental of £13.50, plus calls (average £20 p.m.) so look like I am going to be paying over £70 p.m.
I did also find 22 emails last week in my btinternet.com Inbox although I have indicated I only use my old aol.com email address but they cannot use that although BT have been corresponding with me on that one since day 1
Their usage monitor only tells you if you are within or over your usage allowance, not how you've used it!
    Good Luck

    Hi,
    Goodday.
all hp which has GPRS/EDGE/3G are capable of connecting via ur pc. there r 2 ways,
    1. when u launch ur bluetooth on ur pc, there wud several option on what services u want to use. the internet connection shud be BLUETOOTH DUN CONNECTION. once u launchd it, ur required to enter the user name, password, and dial-up num. these 3 info need to be obtaind frm ur network provider. charges will depend on ur networks mobile data charges.
    2. if theres no such option, go to control panel>network connections>create new connection>connect to the internet>setup conection manually> connect using dial-up modem> select ur hp as modem> enter user name, password, dial up num>finish.
then u'llbe able to connect to the net depending on ur networks speed.
