Broadband is not working

I need some help. My computer is saying that the sim card and the device for my broadband is not found. I haven't deleted anything and was working just fine when I shutdown my computer yesterday. I went to system restore and restored my system, but that did not work. What do I do?

Your computer shouldn't have to detect a SIM card for any reason.  Which device are we talking about here?  What is the OS of your computer?
My first suggestion is to call it into VZW as a bad SIM card.  They can ship you a new one for free.
That or bring it into a VZW store.  Most have spare SIM cards in stock that they can configure and activate for you.  They could also try to confirm that its a SIM card problem by popping in one that they know works.  If your MiFi still doesn't work with a good SIM card then the device is faulty and should be replaced.

  • Broadband did not work for days

my broadband did not work for days. I spent two lengthy periods of time on the phone to sky, once fo 1.5 hrs and the other time for 1 hour. Both phone calls achieved nothing. Eventually the internet started working again. The sky service status online advised that my area had no problems. The service from sky has been incredibly rubbish and has made me very angry. In order to get myself online i had to pay BT Wifi £8 for a day pass. Sky have been very generous and have compensated me 62 pence for the time I have been without the internet. My question to sky is..... will youplease refund me the £8 I have spent and give me some sort of compensation for the dismal service provided. I have tried to call calling you this morning but you phone is engaged, I tired emailin gyou but you have no email, I tried the live chat, but it is busy. The forum is the only place I can go.

Sky don't post here and won't respond to you here. The forum is customer to customer support only.
    Official complaints process as below:
    http://help.sky.com/articles/how-to-make-a-complaint
Sky are under no obligation to compensate you for the loss of service and the 62p is, I assume, the cost of your package for the days it was not working.

  • Mobile Broadband Connect not working on x301

    Hi
I definitely cannot get mobile broadband working on my UK x301
I have a fully updated system with all the Win7 Drivers (using both System update 4 and further manual downloads) and I found a Win 7 version of Mobile Broadband Connect however when loaded it hangs on Initialising... for ages and then complains that "the sim card present on the system cannot be read"
    Can anyone help please?

That has been on issue ever since RC1. The Ericsson Broadband Modem only seems to work in specific combinations of older drivers. Also not every access connections version seems to behave nicely in combination with it. My success rate in configuring those has been approx 50% and I gave up.
I did manage a 100% success rate though with all most recent drivers + the specific 7uw706ww ericsson package from the beta website.
There's one catch though. This driver seems to be capped at 384Kbps e.g. stuck in UMTS mode.
For me that's enough to last until proper drivers come out, but it is higly irritating.

  • Broadband Shield Not Working

Hi FolksI have just changed from O2 broadband to Sky Fibre Broadband.I was initially delighted how easy the Broadband Sheild was to work, and I went in to the customs setting to prevent access to:'Pornigraphy and Adult''Dating'websites as we have children using devices in the house, but this would still aloow us as adults to view typical adult discussion sites. However it doesnt actually block anything, as I have selibreately searched these sites and access to them isn't blocked.I ahve tried talking to Sky but they say in this case what I need to do is block access to specific websites by entering the IP address of each site I want to block, however this is completely nonsense and rediculous, how is this considerd parental controls, as how am I going to be able to get the IP address for every?Had anyone any sensible ideas how to make it work.Basically we have quite a number of devices and I want to block these sites via the router rather than each individual device.CheersAlan

Thats what I believed as well. However after talking directly to a emember of the Sky Sheild team it appears this is very much in its infancy, as there are only 20,000 users using at to date, and i dont think they have it fully tested for problems yet. If its blocked at the router as they say, then it shouldnt matter what settting each device has, the router shouldnt be able to access blocked content. If you have to clear cache files, and internet history and do all sorts of stuff, then if we wish to change or adjust the setting, we have to go through each devices history, and cache files before the Sheild takes effect, then its not at all effective. The response form Sky hasnt been satisfactory at all. I also had a problem accessing my long standing email address via outlook after I changed to Sky (even though it would work perfectly when using my laptop via O2 and BT connections), and one representative told me to get a sky email otherwise ther was nothing they could do, not exactly helpful, not terribly impressed to be honest.

  • Mobile broadband (un2430) not working with Windows 10 on Folio 9470m

I have had Windows 10 installed on my HP Folio 9470m since October last year (insider program). One thing that I never been able to get to work is the mobile broadband device (un2430). It simply says "Radio off". All attempts to re-install driver (which shows as "working"), disable/enable the device etc etc just leads to same result, that the "Radio is off".I googled this a couple of times and found that other users have the same problem. Also colleagues of mine with same model has also the same problem. It works just fine under Windows 8.1. Anyone has a workaround? I was really disappointed when W10 was released that HP did not update the drivers-page with W10 drivers:http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5271102 How can I find out when/if HP will release W10 drivers, including support for mobile broadband, for the HP Folio 9470m?

Thank you for your reply. I've tryed several SIM cards, and arrived to the conclusion that it doesn't work with portuguese operator TMN (all the SIM i've tried from TMN lead to the same result)!
I guess that there is some misconfiguration on WM config files. I found one xml with default configuration for worldwide carriers, and maybe it is possible to change some of those parameters to make it work... I just don't know wich one!
Maybe I'll have some luck, of someone reading this, and that is able to give me a tip to solve the problem.
The SIM card just work well on a 3G usb stick, or even in a celular phone!
    Thank you again.

    Hello,
Did you find a solution because I am having the same issue with my Sony Vaio SA. It has a Gobi 2000 and works perfectly on Ubuntu 14.04 and all other distributions I have tried so i know the hardware is fine.
I dont get the message repeating although I can get it like that by using the firmware from the AUR. If I use the firmware I got from my previous Windows installation then the error only occurs when turning the device on. This is so annoying
    I get the following:

Sorry, no modem was detected! Is it in use by another program?
Did you configure it properly with setserial?

As a result I'm stuck with Ubuntu for the time being. ;( Any help would be very appreciated.
Edit: running sakis3g after doing the above I was able to connect but I'd still love to know how to to make it work manually with wvdial.

    Hi
Thanks for the advice above. Initially cleaned off original app
I removed the software application from Mac HD/Applications/Orange Mobile Partner
The kernel extension located at Mac HD/System/Library/Extensions/HuaweiDataCardDriver.kext
The modem script located at Mac HD/Library/Modem Scripts/HUAWEI Mobile Connect – 3G Modem
Then dragged the Orange MobilePartner file to the HD, selected 'Show Package Contents' and followed the advice above opening the .mpkg.
Was about to try and return the dongle, but now after several tests, am sure it works

Apple Care told me to install Rosetta - and still NO good!
    Any ideas?

  • BT Broadband Talk Not Working

I have had no problems with my hub / router or phone until recently, but now my hub phone has stopped functioning correctly. The light on the hub has gone out and the phone does now not call through the hub but instead through the landline. When I log into the gui it simply says the BT Broadband Talk service is temporarily unavailable and suggests I restart the router which I have tried multiple times to no avail. This problem now has been going on for about a month so its clearly nothing temporary anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried re-activating it using http://www.bt.com/bbt ?

  • BT Broadband not working when on the phone

Been a BT customer for couple of months.
Multple devices are connected to the Hub no problems but when the phone rings the broadband does not work.
The Hub flashes orange almost everytime when someone is on the phone. Whether it be a outgoing or incoming call.
Only using the master socket for both the phone and the Hub. Using the inbuilt filter on the socket.
If anyone could help with this issue I would greatly appreciate it.
Did not have this issue with Orange Broadband so there must be something wrong on BT's end not ours!

Can you specify your current setup?
    Which Hub do you use?
Does your phone socket have the 'Openreach' symbol on it?
    Do you use filters?
Is your hub connected to the master socket?
Is your phone connected to an extension socket?

Hi guys, my new home fibre broadband is not working after the engineer visit, the hub has orange light all the time, everytime i tried to connect to the broadband, it automatically directed me to the troubleshooting page, which indicates my broadband doesnt work is due to my BT broadband account name is incorrect, my current bt broandband account name is set to BT default username, i tried both auto reset and manual reset, both no help at all.
i also called bt customer service line everyday for the last 10 days and no one could help me out. im sort of in a desperate mode right now.

  • Phone Update not working in windows phone 10 technical preview

I recently upgraded my lumia 920 from windows 8.1 to windows 10. Now whenever I hit 'check for updates', it indefinitely stays there as if it's checking but it doesn't. I'm kinda worried that if any new windows 10 updates come, will I ever be able to update.
Is there a way to fix this issue without rolling back to windows 8.1?

I've got to bump up this issue. After several builds and all the updates, issue remains, and HP is silent on the forum as always. I've also posted another feedback post via Windows Feedback tool, and have posted new reply to the old post in the Windows Forum ( http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_tp-hardware/hp-hs2340-hspa-mobile-broadband-module-not-working/afd40168-bca2-4a72-a54f-8d70e15a71f5 ) Again, if there are any other users experiencing this issue with hs2340 and Windows 10 Technical Preview, please post both here and to the thread linked above (answers.microsoft.com website). If anyone had resolved it or found a newer driver than v.7.2.8.1 (for any Windows version) please post a link and/or workaround. Thank you in advance!Luka

  • Broadband there but not working!

    Hi,
I moved home and it has taken BT 7 months yes 7 months to re connect our broadband due to engineering work. ive been given no idea how long this is going to take so you can imagine when l recieved a text message today to say it was up and running l fell off my chair!!!
My laptop is picking up my homehub connection but there is a yellow exclamation mark on it and its not working! With regards to the hub the broadband light isn't on and the phone light is orange. I have a dial tone and l have tried two different ADSL filters (neither of them new)....any ideas or will it be another phone call to BT tomorrow???
    Thanks
Its really frustrating as the connection is there its just not quite right for some reason.

if your broadband light is not showing and the phone line is orange your broadband is not yet active broadband can be activated at any time up to midnight on the activation day
