Broadband only working through test socket... Plea...

Hi,
Newbie here, I'm afraid...
Having dire problems with broadband connection...
Initially thought it was issues with router, so bought a new one, no change though...
Then thought it was upstairs extension, so brought PC back to main BT socket, but still no connection...
Tried test socket & all ok there, finally got broadband connection but still unable to get one when I replace the face plate. Any ideas???

the wires that shouldnt be used for a faster connection are orange and white.
Im not exactly sure (i cant remember) but maybe one of those colours have to do with the extension.

They have a table of what goes where etc...
I dont recommend messing with it, just check that everything is in correctly, if it is then theres another fault with the cabling in your home.
Do the extension points allow phone calls?
Check the micro filters also,
try connecting the router directly into the phone extension.
Also give BT a call and tell them to send an engineer round.

External Hard Drive (USB3.0) only works through USB2.0 hub

For quite a while now some of my external hard drives have not worked when directly plugged into my Macbook Pro (Mid 2012 running 10.8.5). They work perfectly when plugged into a USB hub and then into the macbook but not directly to the mac. Standard small USB flash drives work fine straight in to the macbook, the real problem appears to be USB 3.0 hard drives. These will not show up on desktop or disk utility unless I plug them in via a USB hub (which is USB2.0). The hard drive format doesn't seem to be important, currently my Mac OS Extended Time Machine backup HD is only working through USB hub, and my MyPassport WD external drive is NTFS and hasn't worked directly into the Mac for a while now.
Normally this is not a big issue, but when I am on the go it is useless to carry a USB hub around along with a MyPassport hard drive! In addition, there are times, such as when backing up, that I want the speeds offered by USB3.0 from my macbook to my hard drive.
What could be the problem? I run NTFS for Mac OSX, not sure if that would cause an issue with the direct connection.
Please help, this one is grinding my gears!

WD Black 2TB back in summer sold for about $179 and excellent choice.
Very important as to what controller you get and what it supports, besides Mac Pro 2010, 64-bit mode drivers.
With 4 drives you may or may not want a card+case that is Port Multiplier.
To use 4 drives you may want 4-port SATA.
The ideal might be two PCIe cards and two cases, so your data and backup are not on same controller and case. Or not.

I'd go with 1.5TB models throughout: replace the 2 x 500GB which sound older and 2007 era? setup 3 x 1.5TB if you think you want 1.5-1.8TB for active projects on your internal drives (3 drive array)

Have you tried basics from the manual?
Restart, reset, restore.
Is the silent switch on?
Are the sounds on in settings?

My battery wont charge and my mac is brand new just says not charging will only work through charger

TS2771 Charger only works in wall socket but not in usb port???

When I plug my Ipod touch (4th generation) into my charger and put it in the wall socket it works but when I put it in a USB port it doesnt work (yes the USB 2.0 port) i've tried both my laptop and my PC and it's not charging when only using USB! what do i do??

When i moved into my home last year May i had 7.8mb and was paying for 8mb so i was a happy chappy, But they have just finished building 35 new homes in my village, As them homes sold, my broadband was getting slower and slower.
I never noticed the decrease in speed until other gamers complained that i lagged due to slow broadband so i did some speed test and was horrified to see such low figures. i can't race in simulator league rooms now due to this slow bt speed.
BT say the acceptable rate for my line is 0.6 to 7.15.
0.6mb would be a 60k max download rate and you would get that or very near to it with a 512k connection that would cost you a lot cheaper than a 8mb connection.
Why end up like me and pay for 8mb when your only get 2mb. you may as well just get their 2mb package.
BT are happy with their service to you as long as you are getting over 0.6 even if your paying for 8.0mb

Why does the button only work in test scene, not test movie?

Hi everyone, I have a very frustrating problem with my flash project.
I have two scenes in my flash movie, each of them has lots of links and navigation within itself. And there is one button that takes you from one scene to another.
When I test Scene 2, everything works fine. However, when I test the whole movie, the navigation within Scene 2 won't work and there is no error!
Does anyone has any thought about what is going wrong?
I'm using Flash CS6.

My Scene 1 has some key frames and some gotoAndStop functions navigate between the frames. My Scene 2 has basically the same set up, but different content.
Then I use a button to jump from Scene 1 to Scene 2.

Airplay not working (only works through iTunes)

Hi, I am having problems getting my Airplay to work on my Pro.
If I am playing music through iTunes and have Airplay selected music will play through the Airplay speakers. However, when I Option-click the sound icon at the top right of the screen and select my AirPlay as the output device nothing happens. Similarly, when I go through the Sound-System Preferences I see my AirPlay as an option. If I select it it automatically deselects and returns to the Internal Speakers options. This is a problem because I don't exclusively use iTunes for music or want to project video sound through Airplay.
Anyone have any suggestions? I am running OSX 10.9.5 and my AirPort Express has recently been updates as well.

My sound only works through the ear phones with some apps....

With some apps (Games and books) I can only get sound on my IPAD 2 though the earphones...this just recently occured. With movies the sound goes through the speakers just fine. Is there some adjustment I can make so I can hear the games without using the ear phones?

Make sure that you haven't got notifications muted (which will affect most games, but not iPod or Videos apps, nor earphones). Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to, notifications can either be muted by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar (the function that the switch isn't performing is on the task bar instead) : double-click the home button to bring up the task bar, slide the bar to the right, and it's the icon far left. Does push ONLY work through the phone network? 2G & 3G?

I have an iPhone with EDGE.
Can contacts and such be pushed to my phone through my local computer network (WiFi)? Or must I ping the phone network by dialing out or otherwise do a cradle sync?

I have a Gen 1 iphone and Mobileme and push works equally well on my home Wi-Fi network as on the Edge network.
There is no need to attach the iphone to the computer at all for contacts or calendars using push.

Broadband only works properly after 2am

Hi all,
I am having trouble with my broadband again.
i cannot play online games until about 2am because of latency/lag/delay
also bt sport keeps buffering and disconnecting
i thought this was fixed last time we had an engineer to switch the lines but its come back again
another thing ive noticed the broadband sometimes disconects when the phone rings
and ive never had a connection over 11 days.
i really want this sorted as FTTC is coming in may and it will surely effect that too?

I have tried this and yes it does still disconnect but its not everytime it seems completely random ive also used a wired phone
I had an engineer a few months back and it fixed the problem for a week or so
he moved us onto a different line
its like something seems to build up and gradually get worse

Can't download Apps through 3G connection. Only works through Wi-Fi

Ever since I got my 3GS I have not been able to download updates to my Apps through 3G. It starts to download and the progress bar goes half-way then the progress bar starts again and keeps going in that loop.
However, downloading updates through Wi-Fi works fine. This is driving me nuts! I have logged out of my iTunes account and logged back in; it makes no difference.
Does anybody have an answer to this?

BBM only working through wi-fi.

none of my blackberry applications are working, unless im using wi-fi. i cant use BBM, facebook or twitter unless im at home using my wifi. what is wrong with my phone?

This may sound obvious but have you tried a battery pull?
While the phone is ON, remove the battery and leave it out for about a minute or so.
Insert the battery, wait for the phone to go through the boot process and see if that changes anything.
If that doesn't do anything, you should contact 3 and ask them for the resolution of the problem, since everything was working fine before the 22nd and has suddenly stopped working.

Broadband only working with iPad not laptop

Hi
I'm hoping someone can help! We had issues with our broadband and an engineer fixed our line and it's all been good for 3 weeks. Suddenly tonight both laptops cannot connect to the Internet but the iPad can. The laptops are showing they can connect to the hub but not through to the Internet.
Can anyone shed any light?!

Airport Express only works through Ethernet and not wireless

Hi there,
As it states in the header - Airport Express works when I connect it either directly to my iMac or through my Cable modem using an ethernet cable. Unfortunately, as soon as I unplug the ethernet and try to use it wirelessly, it disappears from the AirPort Utility view and I can no longer connect. Strangely the green light stays on solid, no flashing.
I'm no wireless connectivity expert so am sure it's something basic I've missed. Would be most grateful of any pointers.

For the short term ...
Either connect to the AX's wireless network or connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then using the AirPort Utility in "Manual Setup" mode, make the following changes:
AirPort > Base Station
o Base Station Name: <rename or leave default>
o Base Station Password: <enter desired password>
o Verify Password: <re-enter desired password>
o Remember this password in my keychain: (optional)
o Set time automatically: (unchecked)
AirPort > Wireless
o Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
o Network Name: <existing BT HomeHub's wireless network>
o Wireless Security: <select the encryption type of the existing wireless network>
o Wireless Password: <enter the existing wireless network password>
o Verify Password: <re-enter the existing wireless network password>
Music
o Enable AirTunes (checked)
o iTunes Speaker Name: <enter desired speaker name>
o iTunes Speaker Password: (optional)
o Verify Password: (optional)
o Click Update to write the new settings to the AX
In iTunes:
iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
o Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)
For the longer term, since the BT HomeHub is not WDS-compatible with the AX, the AX would need to be connected directly, via Ethernet, to the BT and then re-configured as a bridge to allow the BT to continue to provide NAT & DHCP services for the entire network.
