  • I keep getting calls from non existing area codes and phone numbers.  They are never the same number twice.  How do I stop this?

About a week ago I started getting phone calls on my cell phone from numbers that do not exist, including the area codes.  I can not report these to the Do Not Call list because the area code is non existent.  I'm getting these calls all the time now and never from the same number twice so there's no point in blocking them.  If I answer I may or may not get a person who has an accent from India so heavy that I can't understand what they are saying.  This is getting to the point where I just want to cry I'm so frustrated.  Anyone else having this issue or does anyone know how to stop it?
    Thank you

I'm sorry that you are having all these troubles. I have sent you a private message.

  • Why is South African Educator Discount almost non-existent?

    Hi
I want to upgrade to Adobe Creative Cloud from the Photoshop subscription of $9.99 p.m.
However, since I am in South Africa, paying $49.99 p.m. (excluding 14% value added tax) is not affordable. Since I work at a university, I hoped to make use of the educators discount. Many of my colleagues purchased CS5 & 6 this way and received around 50% discount. Having the ability to install the software on personal computers instead of work computers is a major advantage, because work pcs often don't have enough graphics processing power - that is why we purchase this software for ourselves instead of through our employer, even though we still use it for work.   I also noted that the educators discount in the US and EU is 60% and in New Zealand it is 70%!
Full of hope, I contact Adobe Sales (after having a very strange conversation with a non-English speaking person on Adobe Chat) and a very polite British guy gives me the contact details for a local (South African) reseller, as apparently Adobe does not handle educator discounts for South Africans directly.
So guess how much of a discount I received from the reseller? A measly 19%. When I queried the amount quoted, the reseller told me that the price is provided by Adobe and they cannot change it.
I guess something is better than nothing, but this discount does not come close to placing this product in the affordable range.
My complaint is this: Why is the South African education discount so much worse than other countries? Please Adobe, I would just like a reasonable answer to this. If you tell me it is because of fraud or high taxes or whatever, I will be happy, but please at least provide South Africans with a reason for the differential treatment.
Thanks for your response in advance

    Hi there
I’m sorry to hear that you have been experiencing poor service in the Ramona area! I’d be happy to help! ! I recommend trying our AT&T Mark The Spot app app to capture the location of areas where there is little or no service. This information is then used to locate possible issues and plan future network improvements. We realize you won't be able to report network issues from the app without wireless service but you can mark a place on the map and report the issue when service has been restored or you can use Wi-Fi. Visit the app store for your device manufacturer and download the AT&T Mark the Spot app.
Mark the Spot is free for AT&T customers to download:

I think it has something to do with icloud server being sooooo slow.

It is happening so often !!!
I will switch back to my old mail if the service can't be reliable.

  • HT4759 Before upgrading to OSX Mountain Lion from Lion, my mail and iCloud connections were fine. Now, the connection is almost non-existent (iCloud "connecting" forever, mail icon jumps). My network is good. Any solutions?

Does anyone know how to eliminate the "jumping mail icon" that stems from iCloud not connecting correctly? I just upgraded to Mountain Lion from Lion and before, everything was fine, but now the synch between iCloud and mail seems to be out of whack and the "connection doctor" doesn't help and nothing seems to get rid of the problem.

  • Slow broadband speed after noisy line repaired

I've recently had a noisy line which eventually got repaired (dirty connection on block at local poll). Since then Broadband has remained connected (good) but download speed has been none existant >250Kbps ASDL line details are as below:
I'm not getting any progress on the fault I've registered with BT on Dec 12 (says more testing is required), I keep chasing with the online support chat but keep getting the same response "we need to do some checks on the line we will get back to you in a hour or so, an then nothing". Any tips on how to get resolution of the issue speeded up?

    Go to Solution.

Well the noise margin has gone up from 9.2bB to 15.4dB, which is much better, and leaves lots of room for a speed improvement.
You must be losing a lot of signal between the master socket and wherever you plug your home hub into.
Your estimated final speed should be about 7552Kbs, but you are stuck in a banded profile due to the line fault.
You are not going to get the full speed with a margin of 9.2db, but if its not practical to use the master socket, it would be worth disconnecting the bellwire while you are up in the loft, as that may help reduce any problems on your extension.
    See here for instructions.
    Bellwire fix.
This could help quite a bit.

  • Non-existent address!

I had a bunch of ringtones, which I've been using with no problems for a couple months...recopied them into my phone during a reorganization, and all of a sudden I'm now getting the error message about how the music files are protected content and can't be used as ringtones, which is weird because I have identical duplicates (I just pasted two copies in separate folders) in a different folder, and there's no problem in using that as the ringtone.
Anyways, on to the real problem. When I checked the file properties for the "protected" files, it told me that these files were stored in a Music folder that was directly under the Device root. All files stored in the built-in memory have the file path Device > user > whatever, because user is literally the only item directly under Device. These protected files, however, are stored at Device > Music, which is weird because as far as I can tell, said address does not exist.
What exactly is going on? This isn't affecting performance on my BlackBerry so it's not really much of a big deal, but I'd like to know exactly how the music is ending up at a non-existent file address, and how I can delete it, since it's quite annoying to go through a list of duplicates every time I want to set a ringtone.
    Thanks

It appears that HP is having many false error messages. HP, are you hearing this? What's up?

  • Broadband Speeds 200Kbps

    Hi,
My mother is recieving broadband speeds through her Homehub via both LAN and Wireless of max 200kbps. This sometimes drops to 50kbps for a period of time.  After calling the helpdesk she has been sent a filter (phone/ADSL splitter) which does not seem to help. There does not seem to be a fault on the line and the laptop is about a month old. Online speedchecks (not BT) also give results of speeds around the 50-200kbps. The line speed is not even good enough to trial the BT speedchecker!
The BT 'help' callcenter say that the speed to the house is within normal limits and does not warrent any engineering intervention.
Could it be a new hub is needed or is there something in the laptop settings which need changed...IPv4 IPv6 reset?
Any faultfinding suggestions would be most welcome!
    Many thanks,
    Andrew

  • My Apple-id want me login with an old non existent e-mailadress

I´ve used the sam Apple-id for many years and I have changed the primary e-mailadress twice since the beginning and the original adress doesn't exist any more. Logging in to my iCloud using my apple-id isn't any problem on my iPhone, iPad or my Mcbook. But yesterday I started up my iMac after a long time not using it and I upgraded the os to Yosemite. Now it wants me to log in to iCloud using my old non-existent emailadress. And when I try, it says something like "You can't log in because your account has been inactivated by security reasons."  And then it suggests me to reset the password at http://iforgt.apple.com.
To reset your password  you have to recieve an email on how to reset the password. But since the email-adress doesn't exist any more thats not an option. It then suggests me to answer my security question and first you have to enter your birthdate but when I do that Apple says it doesn't match with the birthdata I've entered 10 years ago.
So, how do I solve the problem?
    /Fredrik Meuller

You need to give Apple Support a call - only they will be able to help you and activate the account again. See this webpage on how to contact Apple Support in your country: There are either telephone numbers given or an email form:

  • Broadband speed problem

every time it rains/windy I get severe crackling/noise on my line which then affects my broadband speed.  at the same time if I look at the broadband log file the broadband restarts continuously during this time.
A similar problem occurred about 18 months ago and Engineer resolved by fixing a connection on a pole somewhere down the road.
I logged a call yesterday as it wa raining and there was crackling on the line,  and no surprise broadband spped dropped to unusable. Openreach arrived today and said he can only check the master socket for noise and not anything else.   as expected line is clear (its sunny) ,  no noise  and he also checked one of the other sockets as well which checked out ok.   My broadband master socket is located in the garage.
Currently, my broadband speed is so slow its basically unusable and I really can't want the supposidly 3 days for it to sync.  is there anyone I can call to escalate this.      ALso appreciate any guidance on how I can log a call to get engineer to perform an external test as well.
I cant wait for it to rain again.  seriously considering cancelling  broadband with BT as its unusable.

well hopefully I have a result and this has now been resolved.  I re-logged the call and also raised a complaint which seemed to have had the desired effect as I received a call Monday about arranging another appointment for engineer to visit.
Local engineer arrived this morning and found cable corrosion inside the box on the gable wall where the external line comes onto the property.    I expect broadband will now take a few days to settle down.

  • Slow broadband speed and freezes 1 hour early morn...

I sometimes work during the night at home - but most nights between 01.30 and 02.30 am my broadband speed slows down drastically, sometimes causing freezing and websites cannot be accessed.  By 3am it starts to ease up. At the moment speed is ok at other times. Anyone any idea why this might happen, especially since it is so regular. When I spoke to the call centre they hadn't a clue why this would be happening. This has been happening over the last couple of years but I have never been given a possible explanation.

Do you have any software that could be doing a backup or other scheduled task such as a virus scan.

  • Broadband speed has been slow for almost 2 weeks.

I have been getting slow to extremely slow connection speed for almost 2 weeks now.
IP Profile for your line is - 9446 Kbps
Download speedachieved during the test was - 3548 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4000-21000 Kbps.
Just made this test and this is the FASTEST i have ever tested on the connection. Usually its more like 1000-2000kbps
The upload sits around 40-70kbps most of the time which is also extremely slow.
I have tried using 4 different filters. 2 different routers and my computer is directly connected to the router. I had no problems before this and my speed has always been good or great (20000kbps)
I have used a lot of time on the phone with the call center and they keep coming up with useless explanations and excuses for why the connection is slow (I work with this every day myself so i know that they have no clue)
This is my last shot to get a solution to this problem. If not i guess i will have to change service provider since the connection i have now is so bad i cant do anything else than reading stuff on the internet and sometimes watch a youtube video. My internet connection is vital to me since i use it for work so this is very annoying.
So... Does anyone have any idea what i can do?

  • Very slow or non-existent broadband in the evening...

Why is it that when you contact BT about a slow or non-existent BT broadband every evening, they doggedly maintain that testing the line and waiting seven days will solve the problem? My BT broadband works wonderfully well during the daytime but slows to a standstill in the evening, not really a line problem, rather a bit of exchange congestion I think, unless of course you believe in conspiracies.
What if BT are actually setting the lines that have the old white HomeHub and Internet phone to a lower priority than the Infinity lines, to boost the performance of the new connections and encourage, (force), the current HomeHub users to upgrade? I rather like having two telephone lines, and would rather not upgrade and lose the second line, but I feel that this is not what BT want.
So if I'm forced to upgrade and lose the Internet phone it's off to Sky, those Murdochs need all the help they can get.
