Broadband speed slow for past 7 days, even though ...

Hi, for the past seven days my internet connection speed has being around 35-126 KPS, with the connection completely dropping every few seconds. This is the case across all my devices: Ethernet and WiFi connected. Out of the seven days, there was one day where the speed went back to normal (around 3.8), but then dropped again around 24 hours later. Meanwhile, the hub's ADSL status is saying that my downstream speed is a nice 4,540 KBPS.

I have spoke to the customer support call centre, and to be honest they were useless. Saying that their tests came back normal, and that I've got to wait 2 WEEKS before they can help!!! Obviously you can guess I am not happy at all with the support from BT!
Never-the-less I was wondering if anyone on here could possibly assist me please? And point me in the right direction.

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • JDeveloper IDE suddenly very slow for past two days

    Hi All,
    I have Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 for more than a month now. Suddenly the JDeveloper IDE has become very slow. It is very annoying having to wait for the code changes to show across and windows take long to get in sync. I have 3.25 GB RAM running on XP service pack 3. Also, I scanned my machine for likely virus, but has come clean. It is only with Jdeveloper I am having problems. All other applications are running fine. I even tried just running JDeveloper alone. No luck.

    Did you install any new extensions? When is it "slow?" Is it when doing a specific activity, or just overall "slow?" What does your OS show (is JDev using lots of CPU, for example)? Have you tried making a backup of your "system11.1.1.4.37.59.23" folder (numbers may be different depending on version) and then deleting it so that JDev recreates it for you (you'll lose all of your preferences/settings)?

  • History wont save past 7 days, even though its set to 90.

    In my options I have the history sit to 90 days, yet no matter what firefox is only saving the past week. Is there any way to fix this?

    You keep history for 5 days according to the value of the pref browser.history_expire_days as shown in your posted More system details list. That value overrides the browser.history_expire_days_min setting that you see in Tools > Options > Privacy as the "Remember visited pages for at least..." setting.
    You can look at these prefs on the about:config page.

    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />

    Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.

  • Can't get email for past three days on iPad.

    I have an iPad2 and for past three days when I go to Mail app the "checking..." message at the bottom just goes on and on and nothing ever comes in. My Mail on iPhone and my MacBookPro all come in fine.   I have tried changing my Apple I'd password, deleting and restoring my iCloud account on the iPad but nothing seems to resolve this. I'm at a loss for what to try next. Any suggestions?

    Try these things in this order. Try to add apps into folders after each step.
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
    Reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. If you reset your settings, all of the device settings will have to be entered again, but you will not lose any data or media.

  • Bt phone 2.1 all call lists empty for past 10 days...

    I have no record of any calls for past 10 days -all calls  etc message says "all call list empty" yet i know people have called.I am told it is a software problem-my current software version is v1935i006f007 Type A.What is going on

    I have had this happen twice - the main screen shows missed calls but when you look at calls list it is empty. Same software version as you. The only way I have found to get it back to normal is to reset the phone.

  • Calendar has a dot mark under each day even though there is no entry made

    I recently bought iPhone 3G and synced it to transfere all calender and contact information. That worked fairly well, but I now hav this little dot beneath each and every day, even though there is no entry made for the day... BUT WHY? The dot should only apear where there is a entry. How can I solve this?
    Next Question: in the store the displayed iPhone had 3 seperet modes for the calendar, Privat, work and birthdays or show all. How do I get that funktioning?

    Set up three calendars on your computer (called "Privat" "work" and "birthdays") then sync to the iPhone. You don't say what computer you use. On Mac, set these up in iCal.

  • Good evening. When I try to rename a master file or export a master file, it only allows 9 spaces for my new name, even though Aperature 3 allows many more spaces than that for version names. This creates a lot of problems and headaches for me.

When I try to rename a master file or export a master file, Aperature 3 only recognizes the first 9 spaces for raw .NEF files, even though it easily uses twice that many spaces for version names. I have a system in place that works really well for me, wherein by changing the file name I can recognize what's important to me just by glancing at the file name, no matter what system it is in, I do not have to open or mouse over anything to know what the file is. My files also arrange themselves in order no matter what file system they are in. Can someone please tell me if there is a setting, or something I am doing wrong, that prevents me from using a longer Master file name. I can't be the only person who would like to have his Master File names correspond to the name that appears in the Aperature library, and would like to use at least 16 spaces (numbers, letters, etc.)

    Hi Frank,
    As you suggested, I am attaching several screen shots. In the first one you can see how I set up my preset. I used "Custom Name" and "Counter" with a dot between the two drag ins, followed by "D90". I also have a dot to seperate the 8 digits in the Custom Name and make it easier to read.
    I then click "OK" which takes us to the second screen shot. Here you can see that in the Example File Name everything looks perfect, and you can see I have clicked on "Apply to Master Files".
    In the third screen shot you can see that the version in my library did in fact change correctly. With the "mouse over" pop up screen you can see, however, that the Master File name was changed  to "1933.1017.NEF". It failed to carry the "12D90" and if I go to where my masters are stored that is exactly what the name was changed to.
    In the fourth screen shot I attempt to export the master. You can see how my "Version Name" is set up.
    And finally on the 5th screen shot you see in the File Name Example the name "1933.1017.NEF" once again, which when I export the master is exactly how the name will appear. Since I will export more than one file at a time , a (1) and  a (2)  etc., will appear at the end of the names because all the files are being given the same "1933.1017.NEF" name.
    I hope this reply does a better job of clarifying my problem. I am anxious to see if this is something I simply misunderstood, or if I am simply doing something wrong.

        Its all good, TimN8128! Mrhelper is corret with regards to making sure that mobile data is turned off when on WiFi or when not connected to WiFi, if you do not want the phone to access data services to update or refresh app services. These applications can all be configured by going to Settings and reviewing all apps that appear in that area. You can also configure a bit further by going to Settings>Cellular.

    Do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Site Preferences"
    Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

    Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If you are not receiving notifications for a specific app, try these steps:
    Verify that the app supports notifications.
    After installing an app or restoring a backup to a different iOS device, open the app at least once to begin receiving notifications.
    If the app requires entering or logging in to an account, you will need to do this before receiving notifications.
    Check Settings > Notifications to ensure that the app is configured for notifications.
    If notifications do not appear only in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.
    If you are still unable to receive notifications and you are using a Wi-Fi connection, verify that the network or firewall is not blocking access to port 5223.
