Broadband username-non recognition

I have my e-mail from BT.com giving me my  BT Total Broadband username.  My hub and e-mail has been  connected and working for nearly two years.
However when I try to log in to MyBT or anything to do with my Broadfband package I simply get the message that nobody with my username is recognised, even though I am simply copying my username from the e-mail sent to me by BT.  That means I cannot get into any of the online help facilities, and when I ring the help number it is impossible to get anyone to reply.
Before I abandon BT altogether can anybody advise me how to deal with this problem and get in touch with a human being who might help to resolve it?

This has to be done separately, its not automatic, as some people simply have their phone accounts on there, and not broadband.

  • BT Broadband with non BT Home Hub

As of yesterday, or maybe even the night before, our broadband (and BT vision) which has been working perfectly for months, no longer works with a Thomson TG585 router.  I have a friend with the same setup and they also now have the same problem.  Using the normal BT home hub, works fine, so I know there is nothing wrong with the connection itself.
Have BT done anything to their network to stop non BT routers connecting to it?  Or added passwords etc to the ADSL authentication as there has never needed to be one.
I know the username in the ADSL should be set to [email protected] with a blank password, and the router gets an IP address, but there is no connection going through.  Pinging google DNS 8.8.8.8 doesn't work either, so I know it isn't a DNS issue.

Bt website say on this issue"............Sorry, we can't provide support for equipment you've bought from other suppliers. If you are having problems with equipment purchased from another supplier, please consult the manual or user guide supplied with the equipment or contact the vendor for advice. Hints on configuring a non-BT router You need to ensure that your router is configured to work on ADSL lines in the UK. Within your router's settings you will need to input a telephone number or VPI/VCI standard. In both cases you should check that this is set to 0,38. Most ADSL routers supplied for sale in the UK will be pre-set to this. You also require your BT Broadband username. This was given to you at the time you orderd broadband and is usually made up of [email protected] where 'your' equals your first name and 'name' equals your surname, for example [email protected] BT Broadband does not require that you enter a password to connect, but some routers won't connect to the Internet without a password. If this is the case, enter the word BT....... I have similar issue to solve tomorrow as I just bought a draytek 2710 to replace my hh3. Bob

  • How do I find out my BT Broadband username?

I need this because I shall want to use my existing router if my equipment doesn't turn up on my switch date, which I think is quite possible judging on past performance from BT on this order (six weeks in, I had to minutely spell my address three times before they finally got it right).
I see this from a help page:
"You also require your BT Broadband username. This was given to you at the time you ordered broadband and is usually made up of [email protected] where 'your' equals your first name and 'name' equals your surname, for example [email protected]"
Trouble is that I can't see anything of the sort on my order acknowledgement. I see a username which in my case has the form [email protected] and which comes with a password. Is that it? The whole thing or just the name999 part?
Or do I have to use [email protected] as another page suggest. Literally that without substituting anything.
I really would appreciate some help here. It's all so confusing.
    Thanks.

  • Broadband username and password

I have been with BT Broadband for as long as I can remember but I need to know my broadband password.
I am on BT Total Broadband Option 3, a Home Hub 2 and documentation saying my broadband username is my btinternet email.  However, when I look at the router through 192.168.1.254, the user name is [email protected]
I need to know the broadband name and broadband password so I can expeiment on another router's settings for a friend.
How can I get them or who would tell me?

Am attempting to set up a BT Business Hub 3 on BT Unlimited Broadband. So, yes, the lack of need for password on the Home Hub 4 threw me too because if you're not a BT Business Broadband client the business hub asks for username and password. Glad I found the answer here.

  • Broadband username not recognised

    Hi all,
Hope someone can help me on here. I've just signed up for BT Broadband and phone, both of which are now active. Phone went active on 29th March and broadband went active on 30th March. I got e-mails informing me of this, and the e-mail about broadband also included my broadband username and password.
When I setup my broadband, it placed a 'Mt BT' icon on my desktop. I tried accessing this using my supplied username and password, but was told that the username has not been recognised.
I've done a bit of searching on this forum and seen that this is a problem that has occurred to a good few people, but that it sometimes just takes a couple of days to resolve. It's now 4-5 days since my broadband went active and I'm still not able to use it - I've checked my tracking of my order and everything is marked complete.  I've also tried logging on with both my username with and without the @btinternet.com portion of it, and it doesn't make any difference either way. It is not a password issue as I've tried the reset password option and the system doesn't recognise the username.
Can anyone suggest a way forward for me please?
    Thanks

    Hi Keith,
As far as I understand it, I need this username to be able to access my e-mails relating to my broadband, to be able to use BT-FON and to download the security software that comes with my package. I dont have a problem just accessing the web as you pointed out, but it seems that because my supplied username is not recognised, I don't have full access to what I paid for.

  • Broadband username change query

When I rejoined BT broadband back in January I was given a new account number and email address, even though I already had an email address setup for my account.
is there any way to change my email address for my broadband account and have it so it just uses my previous address and displays all benefits associated with my account, or should I just leave it as it is and have all email forwarded to the address i use which is classed as a free account as not linked to my broadband package.
    regards
    walkerx
thanks Keith - realised after i clicked post i was in the wrong section and you couldn't move it meself

It would be a lot less hassle just to leave it as it is. You could if you wanted to, have the old e-mail address transferred to a sub account of your new one, if that would make it any easier.

  • Broadband connection - none/slow

Hi.  Hoping for help regarding very intermittant broadband connection, and when it is connected it's very slow (0.2mbps).
First noticed 5 days ago when returned home from a fortnight away.  There had been a brief power cut at some stage during that time.  Problem reported to BT and several telephone conversations with their advisors - 'further tests are being run' but nothing has changed.
As I'm having to access this via 3G, I can't view the forum guidelines I've seen referred to that have kindly been put together for this type of query so I don't know what info might be helpful I'm afraid.
Currently our Home Hub 3.0 has correct power and wireless lights (showing blue) but the broadband light is flashing amber.  Very occasionally (perhaps 5 times a day) I've noticed that the light shows blue and connection is established, lasting anything from 2 to 20 minutes, then it returns to amber flashing and connection is lost.  When it is working it's much much slower than normal.
First call to BT found no faults on phone line or broadband - they sent a new ADSL filter and cable which has been duly connected.  Second call said there was probably a phone line fault.  Third call said probably a fault within our property that would be resolved within hours, but just in case it was escalated to a 'Level 2' issue.  Two days later and there's no change.
I've done the standard cable/socket checks and plugged into the test socket, etc.
I've done the quiet line test with our cordless phone (have tried a new phone as well during this period just in case) and there is a slight intermittant crackle.  I don't have a corded phone to try I'm afraid.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

if you can hear line noise then that need fixing first you need to check the noise is heard using the test socket if it is then report it to BT Faults on 151 with no mention of broadband in the call once that noise is resolved your broadband should start to improve

  • 11i FSG Reports - Non recognition of reversal when displaying entered cur

    Hi,
I created an FSG report in which i was able to get 3 columns, the first one stands for GL Balances in LKR (Functional currency) and the next two columns stands for USD and GBP (Entered Currency)
To get the two columns in entered currency i created a Column Set in which i parameterized the last two columns with two control values and adopted these control values when defining the Report. The Accounting Combinations were given to the row set for the first column and the Column Set for the second & third columns. By this i was able to get a report which showed the total balance in Functional Currency and two other columns to display journals entered in a foreign currency to the same account (USD and GBP).
However, after reversing one of the earlier Journal Entries i posted in GBP, the relevant column in the Report did not get updated. The Functional Currency GL balance was updated.

    Hi,
Have you updated the Translation balances after reversing the journal. I mean, you have to run the Translation program and update the required currency balances.

  • LCD Calibaration and Printer Non-recognition

Hopefully, some of you who are printers can help me get my new LCD and HP wideformat printer speaking to each other. With my old CRT monitor, there was never a problem--beautiful colors every time.
I was encouraged to have the LCD calibrated for better color compatibility, and I installed "eye-one display 2". However, according to the HP tech, the "monitor is RGB and the jet printer is CMYK" and there can't be any coordination.
I can't accept that. The deskjet printer (HP Photosmart 830 0) is not printing for final production, but for proofs which supposedly give me some value indications of the graphics made in AI 10, which are then separated and given to the commercial printer. Granted, he'll work from the discs I give him, not the printouts from the deskjet.
There must be hundreds using LCD's now,and who also have installed color calibration of some kind, and hopefully, someone can enlighten me on how to get these two coordinated. The LCD looks clear, and bright, but the printouts are dull, grayed and light. This is extremely frustrating....thanks so much in advance.............mm

Well, the HP people don't know their stuff. Of course some level of calibration is possible, but it needs to be tackled on both ends. When you calibrate the monitor, you need to calibrate the printer, which with your equipment is not possible. You would need a different version of the eye-one that supports this. However, not all is lost. there are a few things you can do:
    - print a reference sheet with pure colors (Red, Green,Blue, Cyan,Magenta,Yellow,Orange, greyscale Ramp etc.)
    - turn off the printer's automatic color management
    - dial in manual color percentages
Rinse-repeat the above steps until it looks halfway right. This by all means should also include any color profile settings in Illu. Another way to approach the problem would e.g. be to rasterize the output for proof printing in Photoshop and have a stack of adjustment layers do the calibration. Once you have a proper setting, you could always have this as a stock template. Lastly, of course the obvious solution is to request a calibration template from your print houses, print it on your hp and have them measure out a CMYK color profile on their colorimeters. You could then install these custom profiles on your machine as the print target.

  • Problem with broadband access - none at all!

On 1 January my ability to connect to the Internet stopped. My wireless router (Belkin) had some flashing lights (which is not unusual) and is indicative of a a flaky connection so I gave up for a while. However I have not been able to access the Internet at any point since using either of the laptops that I use (Note these are configured completely differently so this is not a software issue). Both laptops showed there was a wireless connection but no websites can be accessed or downloads received.
I called level 1 support on 2 January who talked me through basic things I had already done and who then assured me that level 2 support would call at a time on 3 Jan. No one called at any point during the day. Frustrating.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do or try next?
    Thanks

is your router connecting to the internet?  do your pc/laptop see the router and if so do they connect?  does the icon in the sys tray show internet access or local?
have you tried downloading inssider2 and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. Then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.

  • Unable to connect to Total Broadband suddenly - re...

I should start off by saying the only reason I am not using a Home Hub with my Total Broadband is because about a year ago I had to get it replaced and BT in their incompetance managed to send me a business hub instead.
I was going to send it back but then I read on the forums (see posts like http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-Speed-Connection-Issues/BT-Broadband-with-non-BT-Home-Hub/m-p/350297/h... that any username/pass would work so I just kept it as I needed the connection to work without waiting another week for a new replacement.
So for a year or more I've been running fine with a business hub using some [email protected] username and junk password.
Last night, in the middle of watching something on iPlayer my internet suddenly cut out and when I look at the hub, the Internet light is now Red (even though the 'Broadband light is green). The hub status page tells me DSL is connected fine but no internet connection.
And for a while at least (can't reproduce now for some reason) When I tried to visit a web page, I got redirected to the hub gateway page saying 'unable to connect your broadband with that username/password please set up your connection details correctly' or something to that effect.
Needless to say, I've tried rebooting and reseting the hub many times and tried every possible suggested username/password pair I can find online for people running non-homehub hardware, despite the fact that apparently it shouldn't matter on a Total Broadband line which authenticate by phone number anyway.
There are no reported outages in my area and I have a perfectly fine DSL connection according to the hub, just no Internet/PPP connection.
I'm really hoping someone here has some good advice about this situation because I am absolutely sure if I have to phone BT customer support it will take me an hour just to convince them I don't have a home hub but no it's not my fault for using third party hardware because they supplied the **bleep** thing.
Has anyone else had the same? Can a fault on the line cause this or has BT suddenly changed their authentication scheme overnight? Given a lack of others complaining about this I guess not.
Any help gladly accepted although I feel I may have to grit my teeth and pick up the phone soon...

In case it helps anyone else:
BT live chat were helpfull and suggested using [email protected] and a host of other settings.
That didn't change anything so I'm getting a replacement (hopefully a homehub this time).
I'm still none the wiser about why this suddenly happened - it's plausibly a fault in the hub but given the fine DSL connection it seems likely that is not the issue.
But never mind. If the new hub works I'm happy enough.
And after my comments about BT phone support, I feel I should say that the live chat experience was significnatly better although I guess for most people it is not an option (as they don't have an alternate internet connection!).
    Thanks imjolly for the reponse.

  • Broadband drops, router rebooting or disapeering

    Hi all,
I've had infinity 1 since 12th January 2015. All was fine to start with but the past week has been a nightmare.
The connection is constantly dropping and the hub is disapeering from my devices and then re-appearing after 30 seconds or so. I've changed filters, done the line test for noise (there is none), power cycled the router and its still not connecting for more than a couple of hours at best and minutes at worst! I though someone here may be able to help before I try the dreaded BT helpline.
