Broadcast by Mail - Bursting

Hi,
For a characteristic, Example, customer, E-mail ID is an attribute.
In this case, the user selects the customer in the input variable screen of a report and executes the report, now, he wants to send the report to that customer selected.
Instead of the user to follow the entire process of E-mail bursting, he wants the Dealer id to prompt in the Receipient field. Is there any provision for this in SAP BI Broadcasting?
Thanks in advance.

Any ideas on this please. Or is it possible to create Email group and send the report out to the group as in Outlook?
Regards
Kumar

  • Broadcasting query-Broadcast type "Broadcast E-Mail (Bursting)" not found.

    Dear All,
I had been going through a number of posts in SDN all of which speak about the setting which gives the options of sending query output via email to selected users based upon say a cost centre one is associated with.
But I cannot see this option  "Broadcast E-Mail (Bursting)" in the distribution type.
I reached the broadcasting screen by Query Designer-> Publish-> BEx Broadcasting.
Is it that a precalculated server setup is required to get this distribution type ?
From what I know, a precalculated server is required only for broadcasting Workbooks and not required for query.
Or am I missing something in getting to this Broadcasting type.
    Thanks
    Shalabh

    Hi all,
I finally found the reason for non dispaly of that distribution type.
"Make sure that you have administrator authorization for broadcasting. You need authorization object S_RS_ADMWB with field RSADMWBOBJ = BR_SETTING.
The Broadcast E-Mail, Broadcast to Portal, and Broadcast to Printer distribution types are intended for all users.
All other distribution types listed below allow users to perform administrative tasks and are, therefore, only available to users with the appropriate authorization"
I have SAP ALL in my sandbox and all the distribution types are available

  • Broadcast E-Mail Bursting 'Attribute Value Is' User Name function

    Hello Experts,
When creating a Broadcast E-Mail (Bursting) setting, our Recipient Determination tab's "Characteristic for Recipient Determination" is set to 'Generate Document with Variable Value'.  Beneath this is the "Attribute for Recipient Determination" field and the "Attribute Value Is" field.  I understand that the "Attribute for Recipient Determination" field comes from, or depends on, what is chosen above in the Variable field.  All of our broadcast settings to date have set "Attribute Value Is" to 'E-Mail Address'.  If "Attribute Value Is" is set to 'User Name', how does that work technically?  What is a sample scenario which would make use of such a setting?  Thank you very much.

  • Broadcast E-Mail (Bursting)

    Hi,
Can someone please provide me with a "how to" guide to sending a Broadcast E-Mail using authorizations so that each user can only see the information that they are authorized to see.  We are currently using version 3.5 of the BW.
Any help would be greatly appreciate.
    Thank You!!

    Hi Tina,
Email Bursting option is not available in the BW 3.5. It is available with the BI 7.
Email Bursting is drafting a mail for n users at a shot based on their authorizations.
For this to happen in BW 3.5. We have to load the master data of the endusers email ID's. and their names. Also there should be authorizations to be built on the users in the master data. Only then this can be achieved.
Hope this help u with an answer.

  • Information Broadcast by E-Mail (Bursting) - Use of Text Variables

    Hello Experts.
This time we have a project to distribute customer data using the Information Broadcast by E-Mail (Bursting).
So far it works with Queries and Web Templates, but the functions to create the text for the mail body are not enough.
The "Text Variables" do not contain information about the content of the Query, for example:
"Dear Ladies and Gentlemen" is not enough for us to post the E-Mail to the customers we have to do it dynamically like "Dear Mr. ".
Furthermore we have to send the E-Mail as a copy to the corresponding account manager and there is no "CC" field while bursting.
Is it possible to "extend" the functionality with u201Cself madeu201D Text Variables or customer exits or anything else?
    Thank You.
    Stefan Müller

    HI,
have you find an answer to your question ? Because we have the same issue, and I wonder if we can create variable or user exit ...
    Thanks for your answer.

  • Archiving Information Broadcast E-mails

We are using BW 3.5 Information Broadcasting - without portals with good success.  We broadcast e-mails to users based on their specific data authorizations (i.e. each Manager's Cost Center data, or each Sales Rep's Territory).
However, we would like to keep a copy of all of the e-mails we send, for historical reference (i.e. End of Season Sales Report for Sales Rep ....).
Does anyone know how to configure either InfoBroadcasting, or the Mail server to send a copy of each e-mail sent out to a specific alternative e-mail address? (i.e. all e-mails sent from infobroadcasting also go to "[email protected]").  We know how to send a total report, but not a copy of the individualized report by territory.
Thanks for any ideas you may have!

Setting up a single user with all roles does not fit our situation, though I can see where sometimes that would be helpful.
Our issue is resolved simply by not clearing the SOST transaction log, which lists all e-mails sent by the system.  We can resend or repeat any e-mail or look at the attached report.  This suffices as an archive for the moment.

  • Broadcast by E-Mail (Bursting) in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP 1

    Hey Guys,
we have an issue with the attribute value in Email Bursting Mode.
Here are the link and information about Broadcasting:
    Attribute for Recipient Determination
Choose the attribute for which the recipient is maintained. Under Attribute Value Is, specify whether the recipient is to be identified using the e-mail address or the user name.
When the attribute value is identified by the e-mail adress everything is alright.
But when we change the e-mailadress to the userid and set the attribut value to the "User Name", we get the following message:
Recipient Determination: UserID is not a valid user name in the BI system
      Bursting: Could not determine recipient
When i choose the Distribution Type to Broadcast (Multi Channel) the system can resolve the email adress, when i put my userid to the recipients. So I Think it is a specific problem with the Email Bursting Mode.
I hope someone can help me.
    Thanks

Thank you for your answer. But I think it is a malfunction. It should be possible to use the user id, because you can select the given attribute value "User Name".
Furthermore, the type Broadcast (Multi Channel) is also an email broadcast, which resolves the email adress by the user id correctly.

  • Mail-bursting to an e-mail address containing ampersand (&) fails.

We're using the bursting engine to send invoices with e-mail, but now we've encountered a problem. One of our customers has an e-mail address containing an ampersand, like this: "ar.oil&[email protected]" After bursting, the mail comes back from snakeoil's server, saying that the address "[email protected]" is invalid. It seems that the bursting engine removes the address up to and including the ampersand character.
The relevant part of our control file looks like this:
    <xapi:message id="123" to="${CUST_MAIL_ADDRESS}" cc="[email protected]"
    attachment="true" subject="Faktura ${TRX_NUMBER} fra ${SUPP_NAME}">
Anyone else had this problem? Is there any way I can get around this? Is it a bug?
    Thanks,
    Tore

    Hi Zhxiang,
I tried what you suggested. It did not work, but I discovered something else. In the XML file to be bursted, the ampersand character was already replaced by "& a m p ;", so that was the problem.
The XML file was produced by Oracle Reports, and evidently it replaces the ampersand with the XML code "& a m p ;" when I set the output to XML.
I guess it must be like this, because an ampersand by itself inside the e-mail address inside an XML file would make the XML file invalid.
But how do I get the bursting engine to convert "& a m p ;" to a real ampersand before sending the e-mail address to the mail server during bursting, then?
    Help, anyone?

  • Broadcasting e-mails

    Hi all,
Is there any standard feature provided by SAP EP using which an user administrator can send mails to the all the portal users or to all the users belonging to a particular group?
Any info on this will be of great help for me.
    Regards,
    Narahari

    Hi Sapna,
Yes You have to install pre-calculation server for broadcasting and the process for that is
    http://service.sap.com/swdc > Download>Support Packages & Patches>Entry by Application Group>SAP NETWEAVER -->SAP NETWEAVER 04 -->BI Precalculation
and can check its status in transaction : RSPRECADMIN   or
    Transaction SPRO>SAP Referance IMG> SAP Netweaver> Business Interlligence>
Settings for Reporting and Analysis> Settings for Information Broadcasting> Administrate Pre-calculation Server.
and the precalculation is done : Open Query>Publish>BEx Broadcaster , then you can also make new settings --> three or foue tabs  and one of the tab is pre-calculate.

  • Infomation Broadcasting with Email Bursting with hierarchy

    Hi,
We have a scenario where based on the employee hierachy, we need to use email bursting. We have following emplyoee hierarchy.
    Employee_Manager
      -> Employee_1
      -> Employee_2
The infocube contains data for expense made by each employee. So if employee_manager should be able to get expense incurred by employee_1, employee_2 and employee_manager.
The requirement is to send report to manager for expense made by his/her team.
This employee infoobject has the attribute as username where the email should be sent.
    The problem is ->
when I run the email bursting with selection employee manager, it only sends data for employee_manager and not for employee_1 and employee_2.
So basically the email bursting does not consider hierarchy.
    Any inputs is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Parin Gandhi.

    Hi Parin,
Hope you are doing well. It seems bit tricky. I would try by creating a hierarchy node variable & restricting that to emploeyee manager. It may help you to avoid skipping of em_1 & emp_2 from distributing report. Not sure if it helps.
    Cheers,
    Ramesh

    Variable Assignment
Ignore: When creating an online link, you can make a setting on the Link Creation tab page to define that the values for input-ready variables are not set. When the recipient opens the online link, the variable screen can appear, allowing the recipient to enter the required variable values. This is the case, for example, if the variable has the setting Mandatory, Initial Value not Allowed.
Variable Assignment: You can create values for the BI objectu2019s input-ready variables (Query, Query View, Report, or Web Application). The BI object is precalculated using these variable values. These variable values are set whenever an online link is opened.
Take from Variant: You can select from a variant for the BI object (Query, Query View, Report, or Web Application). The BI object is precalculated with the values of the variant. These variable values are set in accordance with the variant whenever an online link is opened.
Variables can also be assigned from variants for workbooks. For more information about the settings on the Workbook Precalculation tab page, see Precalculating and Distributing Workbooks.
If you have selected Online Link to Current Data as the output format, the variable assignment is appended to the URL. When the recipient opens the online link, the BI object is started with these variable values.
When you precalculate a file, you can specify one or more variable assignments on the General Precalculation tab page. When you generate online links, you can assign only one variable.

  • Broadcast Email (Bursting) - Information Brodcasting :: How it can be used?

    Hi Friends,
Can you please tell me the steps for Broadcast E-mail (Bursting)?
Whenever you select this option in the BEx Broadcaster Wizard in New Setting, we can see a Recipent Determination. Under this we can find many options such as Characteristic Determination, Filter etc.
I don't understand the functionality here. On which case and what time these settings are determined? Could you please guide me with the step by step functinality of Email bursting of Information Broadcasting?

    Hello Gurus,
i have installed the ADS (Adobe Document services). I would like to broadcast workbooks as a pdf file to some user.
When i open the workbook and go to Broadcast --> Setup a broadcast setting for this workbook. The distribution type is
Broadcast E-mail; Broadcast E-mail (Bursting); Broadcast Portal; Broadcast Multichannel and Output Format only MS Workbook and Link to current Data. Here i miss the possibility as PDF.
Where can i set up that the workbook should be broadcast as PDF.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks and kind rgerads,

    Thanks all for your answers,
i also read that with changing the format in Report designer then broadcasting via PDF. Is there no possibility for PDFs for MS Excel Workbooks? How does it work when opening the query in Report designer? What do i have to do there but it is no solution for us because in the workbooks we use GET BEX DATA formulas and just show parts of the analyisis grid. I need a proper solution how to use broadcaster converting workbooks into PDF an send them as email attachment
