Broadcaster Distribution Types

Hi All,
I want to precalculate the 7.0 web template so that it won't hit the queries improving performance. I am looking for functionality similar to 3.5 reporting agent settings for web templates (precalculating only data and accessing via DATA_MODE=STORED). I'm on BI 7.0 SP10 with FPN.
When I create a setting in broadcaster for a web template I see only following distribution types:
Broadcast email
Broadcast to portal
Broadcast to printer
Broadcast email Bursting
Broadcast multi channel
When I create a setting for QUERY i see following additional distribution types
Broadcast according to exception
Precalculate value set
Fill OLAP cache
Fill MDX cache
But i don't see the distribution type "FILL PRECALCULATION STORE" which is mentioned on help.

Also, if i refer to documentation for creating broadcast setting it doesn't mention about this distribution type:

Please see the message from BI development team I got after creating an OSS for this same issue.
"A "broadcasting into the precalcualtion store" is not possible.
By mistake it was in the documentation and some rollout material for
a while but this has been corrected.
There are alternative scenarios: e.g. precalculation of webtemplates
followed by sending them to users per e-Mail or put them on a file
share via "Export to KM".

Hi,
1.) I am trying to use Broadcast by Exception by using Distribution Type Generate Alerts but when i am calling BEx Broadcaster i found that it only showing distribution type Broadcast Email in information broadcasting Tab but i want Distribution type Alert. is it required any setting or how to enable all these options
2.) when i am opening in RSRT it showing Information Broadcast setting but when i am calling through BEx Query Desinger- BEx Broadcaster it's not opening anything, is it required any setting for calling BEx Broadcaster through BEx Query Desinger?

Hi,
In Information Broadcasting, it only showing two Distribution type one is Broadcast By Email and another is Broadcast to portal, How can i enable all information Broadcasting function for example Broadcast according to exception, Alert, etc.
is it require any setting or path or note?

BEx broadcasting: Font types in pdf-documents

Hi folks,
I got a report designed in BEx report designer. In this report I use certain font types. However, when I broadcast this report to our SAP Netweaver Portal as pdf these font types get lost, i.e. the texts in the generated pdf-documents are in other fonts. Do I have to install these fonts on our system? If so, how can this be done? Where can I see the current standard fonts on our system?

Dear Thomas,
After creating a report in Report Designer,just go to Report->Execute.
This will open that report in Web Analyzer.Just check whether your font types are shown as you configured in the report.
If this works as expected,then you will get a report with configured fonts, after you broadcasted into portal.
Make sure that you made teh following settings for the report while broadcasting
Distribution Type : Broadcast to the Portal
Output Format : PDF
Under "General Precalculation" tab,
Portal Theme: SAP Standard
Proper "Layout" tab options.
Hope this will help you.

Broadcasting in BI 7.x - Do I need Portal, Missing Distribution Types

Hi,
     I'm looking into getting Broadcasting up and running. Errors abound of course. Could someone help with these questions?
1. Do I need Portal to do email broadcasting of HTML/MHTML?
I was under the impression I only needed precalc server for workbooks.
Someone in earlier discussion said I did need server. If you could point me to documentation
that mentions I need it to simply send HTML/MHTL reports it would be greatly appreciated.
2. I only see "Broadcast Email" and "Broadcast to Portal" as available Distribution Types when setting up a Broadcast.
What do I need to see the additional types as listed in the documentation?
○       Broadcast by E-Mail
○       Broadcast to the Portal
○       Printing
○       Broadcast by E-mail (Bursting)
○       Broadcast by Exception
○       Distribution Over Multiple Channels
○       Precalculating Value Sets
○       Filling the OLAP Cache
○       Filling the MDX Cache

Fill Olap cache distribution type

Hi,
I'm trying to fill the olap cache with information broadcasting, but I cannot see option "Fill olap cache" in the distribution type.
Only distribution type "broadcast E-Mail" and "Broadcast to portal" are present.
I reached the broadcasting screen from Tcode RSRT -> ABAP Web.
Is a Precalc. server required to get access to "fill olap cache" distribution type ?
How can I get access to distribution type "fill olap cache" ?

BroadCasting distribution issue in BW 3.5 version

Hi Gurus,
               We have issues with workbooks Broadcasting using Precalculation Server. We have few workbooks which are not going to Inbox through precalculation server. I can see them in SOST in BW (3.5 version) after workbook refresh using Precalculation Server as send status. But some of them are going to Email. I didnt understand the difference between them....
              I tested with my emailID as well, the problem with workbooks are not coming into my inbox again they are in SOST after refresh. where as others are coming. I checked few tables start with RSRD*.
             We are sending this workbooks since from last four months and we never had any problems.
             Please help me if any one have this issue before.

                    Appreciate for your quick response. As far I know nothing wrong with Precalculation server, because when I run workbook refresh it is process which I can see. After refresh it is sending mail back to BW Server where I can see in SOST send status.
                   Still it is showing as send status but cant see in Inbox. I tried for other workbooks which are working and I am receiving mail.
                   Please any suggestions to fix this issue...

Send documents with distribution type INT error

Getting error in the FM CVV4_GENERATE_RMA has been determined for the generation and
error occurred in function module <SO_ATTACHMENT_INSERT_API1>
while document distribution with originals as attachment (does not work) .

due to some other similar issues I can also suggest you the following measurments for testing:
Please try switching back to using SAPHTTP instead by creating the following entry in the SDOKPROF table:
NAME: USEHTTPPLG
VALUE: OFF
Leave all the remaining fields blank. Save your changes. Please also use the program RSHTTP05 to regenerate SAPHTTP and SAPHTTPA, and ensure you have the latest version of these programs as per the note 164203.
Further notes 1382813, 1163992 and 946660 helped to solve such behavior for other systems.

Distribution Type in Numbers generated by Random function

Hello,
I am using the built-in Random() function in TestStand for generating random numbers with seed value of 0.
I was wondering about it's distribution. Does the built-in function use Normal or Uniform distribution?

Broadcasting query-Broadcast type "Broadcast E-Mail (Bursting)" not found.

Dear All,
I had been going through a number of posts in SDN all of which speak about the setting which gives the options of sending query output via email to selected users based upon say a cost centre one is associated with.
But I cannot see this option "Broadcast E-Mail (Bursting)" in the distribution type.
I reached the broadcasting screen by Query Designer-> Publish-> BEx Broadcasting.
Is it that a precalculated server setup is required to get this distribution type ?
From what I know, a precalculated server is required only for broadcasting Workbooks and not required for query.
Or am I missing something in getting to this Broadcasting type.

Hi all,
I finally found the reason for non dispaly of that distribution type.
"Make sure that you have administrator authorization for broadcasting. You need authorization object S_RS_ADMWB with field RSADMWBOBJ = BR_SETTING.
The Broadcast E-Mail, Broadcast to Portal, and Broadcast to Printer distribution types are intended for all users.
All other distribution types listed below allow users to perform administrative tasks and are, therefore, only available to users with the appropriate authorization"
I have SAP ALL in my sandbox and all the distribution types are available

How to convert a workbook into PDF and broadcast as Email attachment

Hello Gurus,
i have installed the ADS (Adobe Document services). I would like to broadcast workbooks as a pdf file to some user.
When i open the workbook and go to Broadcast --> Setup a broadcast setting for this workbook. The distribution type is
Broadcast E-mail; Broadcast E-mail (Bursting); Broadcast Portal; Broadcast Multichannel and Output Format only MS Workbook and Link to current Data. Here i miss the possibility as PDF.
Where can i set up that the workbook should be broadcast as PDF.
Any help appreciated.

i also read that with changing the format in Report designer then broadcasting via PDF. Is there no possibility for PDFs for MS Excel Workbooks? How does it work when opening the query in Report designer? What do i have to do there but it is no solution for us because in the workbooks we use GET BEX DATA formulas and just show parts of the analyisis grid. I need a proper solution how to use broadcaster converting workbooks into PDF an send them as email attachment

Broadcast by E-Mail (Bursting) in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP 1

we have an issue with the attribute value in Email Bursting Mode.

Attribute for Recipient Determination
Choose the attribute for which the recipient is maintained. Under Attribute Value Is, specify whether the recipient is to be identified using the e-mail address or the user name.
When the attribute value is identified by the e-mail adress everything is alright.
But when we change the e-mailadress to the userid and set the attribut value to the "User Name", we get the following message:
Recipient Determination: UserID is not a valid user name in the BI system
Bursting: Could not determine recipient
When i choose the Distribution Type to Broadcast (Multi Channel) the system can resolve the email adress, when i put my userid to the recipients. So I Think it is a specific problem with the Email Bursting Mode.

Thank you for your answer. But I think it is a malfunction. It should be possible to use the user id, because you can select the given attribute value "User Name".
Furthermore, the type Broadcast (Multi Channel) is also an email broadcast, which resolves the email adress by the user id correctly.

Variable Assignment in General Precalculation tab of BI 7.0 broadcaster

Hi,
In the broadcast setting, under General precalculation tab variable values can be set up. When we are clicking create variable values, screen with all the variables of the query were coming.
After entering data in the variables and clicking OK, values are not being transferred to the Broadcast setting. The variable page remains like that with out transferring to the Pre Calculation tab.
We are on SAPKW70020.Distribution type used is Broadcast email, output fornat is MHTML. I tried with other output types, but same result.
We are using query as the object type for creating Bex Broadcaster.
Has anyone ran into this issue before?

Hi Mohan,
You have opened up an old post, so many responses might be to answer the initial question.
However, to answer your question, when you click 'Create' next to the 'VAR01 in Variable assignment, what you see is a popup window with the 'Ready for Input' variable present in your query/ workbook/ template, which is the same variable screen which you get when you execute the same query/ workbook/ template independently. You can then enter values for those variables and click OK, to save it and to be passed to the broadcasting setting. The broadcast would then happen for the same variable values.
However, if you face the issue mentioned by Pradeep, then after clicking OK, you can cancel the popup window. The values of the variables would still be passed.
After the popup window closes, you can see the 'Create', you initially saw, replaced with 'Change'. This means the values are saved.

Some questions on Information Broadcasting

We're implementing Information Broadcasting. I have some questions and would be delighted if you could answer some or all of them!!
1. When using Web-templates I get the following message after opening my zip-file (Independent HTML-file) thru e-mail:
- Bex Broadcaster does not support Precalculation. What's the meaning of this? We get precalculate figures.
- The broadcaster demands that Javascript can be executed in the browser. How to solve?
2. When I broadcast a query as zip-file HTML with seperate MIME files then the precalculated views do not have drilldown functionality, i.e. the navigation block functionality does not work (static). I put navigation on Distribution channel. Is this normal way of working?
3. Broadcast functionality does not give possibility for Distribution type: 'Export to Enterprise Portal'.
We have an Enterprise Portal. Is additional customizing required?
4. Process chains have the Event Data Change process. This only works if I attach it directly to a cube. When I connect it to the process load data (i.e. to an Infopackage) it does not work. Any ideas?

Hi Harjan,
Not sure what the issue is with regard to (1).
With regard to (2), you need to to click on the 'Filter Navigation' tab in the BEx Broadcaster, enavle filtering, and select the characteristics you wish to filter on.

BEx Broadcaster broadcasting the MS Excel file of size 1kb and that has no data

Dear Friends
As one of the BEx query is taking more time to execute and the session is going timed out before it displays the output, I have created a broadcaster setting for the same. I have created the broadcaster setting with the Distribution Type as "Broadcast Email" Output format as "XML (MS Excel)", but when I receive the broadcasted Excel which is only 1 kb and which doesn't have any data. Please throw some light on this if you have encountered a similar problem before n resolved it.

Hi,
What the problem ? Broadcasting or memory issue need to be decided first.
For broadcasting test, run the report in foreground for bare minimum records, and see output is coming. Then broadcast it and see if it works.
For session out, you need to think on how to reduced the size of output file. I also suggest check the DB setting of your BW system. Ask your DB administrator about the issue you are facing related to session time out.

SAP BI - Information Broadcast through E-mail.

I am facing issue with information broadcasting.
I set up a Broadcast setting,
1) Distribution type: Broadcast Email
2) Output format: MHTML as Zip file
3) Variable assignment: determine here
4) Filter navigation: No filter
5) scheduled monthly
When i broadcast the report, the user receives the e-mail with the Zip file.
But when he open the file he is not able to see the data (though there is data in the system)
                                                      email send
Bex report -
> BI System -
> user (user receives the email but cannot see data)
This occurs for different users. But the user in the past has received e-mail with data.
Please help me in understanding this.

Have you checked the SAP Notes mentioned below:
Note 958314 Broadcasting: Limitations for the MHT format
         772246 Display of MHTML mail incorrect
Also, it would be advisable to run the support desktool from Note 937697. If you find any RED errors, try to correct them using the suggestions given (see right-hand side). This checks the communication configuration between systems and platforms and may highlight errors which would affect the broadcasting of emails.
