Broadcasting BO

Hi Colleagues,
Do you have any information about the information broadcasting opportunities in business objects. Is there an alternative way for information delivery.
I'm aware of the link:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/business-objects-for-sap-faq
-->Information Broadcasting is no longer the strategic focus for information delivery and publishing.
Ok, but wat is the too for that function in the BO environment?
Thanks for your comments.
Best Regards,
Laszlo

Hi,
the counterpart to Information Broadcasting on the SAP side is called "Publication" on the SAP BusinessObjects side.
You can find more details about Publications in the User Guide and Administrator Guide for the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise product. You can find all the details at http://help.sap.com

  • Logical filename in broadcasting

    Hi everyone,
We want to use the bursting functionality to broadcast a report to the portal. We'll split the result to profit center so each profit center gets a seperate pdf document. Now a few hundred pdf files get created but it's unclear which file containts data for which profit center (without opening each file). Is there a way to add the profit center to the filename of the pdf document created? We've lookad at the variable on filename creation but these are not sufficient.
    Kind regards,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
I've found a discussion between SAP dev and another customer... where dev refers to the following...
Filename: (Mandatory) this name is used for the directory name. This
name is also the technical name of the directory in the database. The
query_name/tempalate name is taken as default.
"Display Name: If provided, replaces the Filename for user display on
      the portal.
If a control query is used (which may generate multiple files), then
the end files are names based on query_name/tempalate name + index."
Do you have the option of a display name?
    Please read the following...

  • DVI to Video adapter CRT Broadcast Monitor? Is there a better option?

I am a freelance motion graphics artist, and I use Final Cut Studio, After Effects, Photoshop, etc.
I need a CRT monitoring solution for checking my color grades, etc.
SD resolution is fine, and i've got my eye on a JVC TMH-150CGU broadcast monitor from B&H. It has an S-Video (Y/C) input.
I'm thinking of using the Apple DVI Video Adapter hook up to it via S-Video.
I have a Pantone Eye-One that I can use to calibrate the monitor.
Would this setup work ok in the above applications? Will it support Digital Cinema Desktop Preview in Final Cut?
I have the 30" Apple display. Will connecting the CRT via DVI steal 256mb of my video memory???? That seems drastic considering it's already driving a 30" display AND running after effects!!
I've thought about FireWire monitoring, but I suspect the FireWire/DV 4:1:1 compression will affect the colors.
I know a CAPTURE CARD would be ideal, with SDI, etc... but I don't really have a need for a full blown capture card at the moment. I don't think use it to it's full potential (ie- to capture). It seems silly spending $$$$ just for a monitoring solution.
Or is a capture card my only option for pro monitoring? If I was to buy one, i'd want a future proof one should I digitize in the future (ie, HD, with analog support), so that leaves either a Blackmagic Intensity Pro (which I believe is only 8 bit) or a BlackMagic Decklink HD Extreme. And then i'd also need the SDI or Component expansion card for the JVC monitor, and before I know it, i've spent over $1000, just for a decent monitoring solution. Ouch.
I strongly considered the Intensity Pro card, because I could monitor SD component, and HDMI HD from the same card. But it put me off when I heard it ws only 8 bit. But it is 4:2:2 though.
What might KILL the Apple DVI adapter option is I have a TON of PAL footage, and I heard the adapter is NTSC only (or a seperate PAL version). So even though the monitor supports both standards, the adapter doesn't. Or so I've heard.
Very confused. Any other options or advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hi,
From the sound of things you have answered your own question.
If you wanted a CRT to just check video playback, safe areas and text legibility then a cheap option of monitoring via a deck or camera would suffice.
You mention a lot of PAL footage just as a FYI this would be 4:2:0 as opposed to 4:1:1 with NTSC under the DV codec.
You don't mention (and I'm sorry if I missed it) what codec you output to. I had always found when working with DV only that a DV monitoring solution was sufficient for most applications.
However as you indicate that colour plays a factor in the equation bite the bullet and get a decent monitoring system from the off. I am using the Decklink Extreme and have found it to be excellent especially in real time conversion and monitoring of HD to SD.
In addition you get the ability to work all the way up to 10bit (drives allowing) and capture over SDI with full deck control.
You could stagger the cost since the BM card will let you monitor composite out in addition to component so the expansion board for the CRT might not be a must have from the get go for you.
Whatever route you go you will want to calibrate the CRT using broadcast colour bars rather than a Pantone system, theres plenty of info on the web regarding this . . and why.

  • What is new in Broadcaster 2004s

Anyone have a simple overview with some details why we should change from reporting agent to Broadcaster (we are on 3.5.3

Reporting Agent will be only supported in the 3.X runtime in 2004s.
All the new functionalities like Bursting, PDF etc will be implemented in Broadcaster only.

  • Error While executing a broadcast setting in BW 7.4

    hi dear BEx Gurus,
I am using BEx Broadcaster to a great extent, many of our critical reports are being sent to the users though BEx Broadcaster. Everyday around 700 triggers are executed automatically. These were working perfectly before we upgraded our system to BW 7.4. I am seeing this error message(Please refer to the screenshot) while I execute the broadcast setting manually from the BEx Query designer --> Publish --> Boradcaster.
Your suggestions/guidance will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Ranjan Jinka

    Hi Brendon,
Hope you are doing great !
I think I need your help again... Your previous solution to my problem worked perfectly last time. But, this time, it is not solving my problem. we applied the latest patches in our BW System (BW 740 SP9) and after this update, BEx broadcaster is returning the same error(Please refer to the below screenshot). And, as per your suggestion, I have activated the web template  0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE.
But again, it is returning the same error. Your help will be highly appreciated.
    Activation of 0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Unable to receive UDP broadcast packets on PPP connection

I am struggling for two days now with no success. I have two modems (do not ask, some special stuff), that uses dial up (PPP) connection. I tried this on windows XP and it works like a charm. I am sending unicast and broadcast UPD packets. If I
repeat that on Windows 7 i can send only unicast data, broadcast packets seems to be lost somewhere. I tried to use Microsoft Network Monitor and I can see that broadcasted packets are being received on my PPP connection. But after that, they are gone. Somewhere
in the kernel. I truly do not understand why. I disabled firewall, antivirus, base filtering engine, tried to log dropped packed in Windows

    Hi,
From your description, you may gather the network monitor traces to ensure which part lost UDP broadcast packets.
    Thank you.

  • What is the diffrence between multicasting and broadcasting?

    hi friends
What is the diffrence between multicasting and broadcasting?
i'm bit confused in multicasting and broadcasting.

Broadcasts go everywhere within a range determined by the sender.
Broadcasting is deprecated and unliikely to go beyond the nearest router.
Multicasts go everywhere where receivers have declared they are present.
Multicast can be implemented beyond routers in a WAN which you control but ISP routers generally don't support it.

  • Information Broadcaster Utilizes 60 to 90 % of Java Stack CPU

We are currently on BI 7.0 and EP7.0; we have started using Information Broadcaster and we are noticing that it utilizes 60 to 90% of CPU on the Java stack.
One thing to inform is that we are using the same Java Stack for Portal, BI and R/3.
90% of CPU seems abnormal to me (At the peak of its usage the Portal Performance goes down).
Will this issue get solved if we use a dedicated Java Stack for BI? Thoughts Please.
    Regards,
    Deepak

    Deepak,
We too facing the same problem.
After proper analyzation our experts decided to go for a dedicated Java Stack for BI to increase the performance.

  • Select All in a BBM broadcast

I would like to have this feature (Select All in a BBM broadcast) added back to OS 10. The main point of having/using BB is the ability to send broadcast messages! • CRM_UI pointing to wrong port while broadcasting any report

    Dears,
Our BI team is facing one starnge issue in CRM_UI.
Earlier we were using port 50001 to access CRM_UI but now we changed it port to 443XX.
So I CRM_UI is working fine and we are able to see BI report on it but when we click on send it takes us (Bex Broadcaster)  to URL that containd same old port so I think I need to make some change in any parameter to make it to point to right URL.
Please suggest how can we do these settings.
    Shivam

    Hi Sharon,
    thank you for your help.
I've created the running total, and tested it again, however, the issue still remained.
The regional options for date are set to be dd/mm/yyyy
I created a formula to evaluate referingDate <= @PeriodEnd, and put it next to the referingDate filed, in the Detail section. All dates should be <= @periodEnd, however, running from the application I got the following results
    for example, @periodEnd is 01/07/2008  (dd/mm/yyyy)
    01/02/2008  True
    01/11/2007  True
    03/04/2008  False
which looks like that it's using the format mm/dd/yyyy.
Running from Crystal it shows True for all the dates, which is right.
Is there any chances for the application to get a different date configuration???
    thank you
    Jamal

  • Live broadcast feed on byu.tv does not work--I signed in, but there is no video nor audio feed.

During all five Sundays during last month, January of 2011, the live broadcast feed, during the live broadcast of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's weekly program of "Music and the Spoken Word" from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Mountain Standard Time--both streaming video and audio--after my signing in to byu.tv's live broadcast site, worked. Starting the first Sunday of February, 2011, which was February 7th, however, and SINCE then, I have not been able to get their live broadcast feed to work, nor at the time of the Tabernacle Choir's live weekly broadcast, nor at any other time.

  • Broadcast Wav files from PT to Logic not moving to original record position

Okay, my system needs upgrading but I'm stable (at least I think I am til now!) I have a TV network sending me broadcast wav files from PT. They shoot their video on a 24 hour clock. I'm to be editing and mixing (in Logic) their audio tracks from PT and send them back as broadcast wav files for them to sync back to their video. After years and years of recording and producing music, this TV world is a first for me. 2 issues at hand that are causing trouble.
NUMBER 1: The wav files will not snap to original record position. I keep getting an error message about "out of range" and of all craziness with a negative SMPTE number. ??? The prompt suggests an offset error. But there isn't I can find. Start time is set to 0:0:0.0.0 here and at the TV studio. They film at 29.97d. That matches as well. Sample Rate is correct at 48k 24bit. I've uncovered every thing I can think of. I did have to set the tempo down to 5 BPM in order to see a full 24 hours in SMPTE.
NUMBER 2: I can't figure out how to see the timestamp start time of the audio files in the audio window. I have every option turned on in the VIEW option, I can see length, but I see nothing about start time of original record time. Am I missing something simple here? Seems like a very standard option that should be easily accessible. It would allow me to prepare the location on the time line.
Overall, I'm hoping I can do all the above with my current rig but realize that the clock is ticking toward a whole new system with Logic 9.
Help please. Don't want to lose this client.

Sure do appreciate everyone's willingness to help. Setting SMPTE start to 24:00:00.0.0 didn't work either. I confirmed with the studio manager at the TV station also that they run a 24hour clock with 0 being midnight.
I'm really hoping that the error is on their end.
*It would help me if anyone knew how to VIEW the Timestamp info attached to the wav files. That would at least give me an approximate idea of where they should be.*
I'm supposed to be editing and mixing the voice dialog from numerous different scene takes that were shot throughout a day of filming. It's critical that I can see all these different takes that were captured over hours of open recording. Some of the files are almost 4 hours long. It's a big project and I'm sure hoping I can stay inside Logic to get it all done with excellence.

  • Canvas Output to Broadcast via mini-DVI to Composite Video?

    Hello,
I would like to send the output of my NTSC Canvas to my NTSC broadcast monitor via it's Composite input.
I run FCP 6.0.3 on OS 10.5.3 and I was hoping I could make this connection via Apple's mini-DVI to Composite adapter. I seem to be all set on that monitor to NTSC, but all I end up displaying is the desktop's background.
    Can this be done?
Thanks in advance for any help!

You need a firewire based DV/Analog converter.
    Check into the Canopus lineup.

  • LCD TV as a broadcast monitor?

    Hi all,
Was planning on buying a Cinema Display to do a 3 display setup:
    1 - Macbook Pro - library/media
    2 - Apple Cinema Display - timeline
    3 - LCD flatscreen TV - monitor
Is it possible to use my LCD tv as a broadcast monitor. I`m assuming I would need to buy a ``Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter`` and daisy chain from the Cinema Display thunderbolt) to the LCD TV (HDMI).
    Thanks

Sure, you can get a miniDisplayport-to-HDMI adapter to daisy-chain off the Cinema Display and it should work just fine.
    LCD TV as client monitor.
Client? If these people are paying you money, shouldn't you guarantee how it's going to look? I guess it depends on your approach to your business, but what if the client is looking at the client monitor and asks you to adjust a certain color or brightness? How do you know if you're really giving them what they're asking for?
The issue is not whether you broadcast or upload. It's just that broadcast standards (i.e.REC 709) are also references for people doing quality work on the web.

  • Recording tv broadcasts to computer

i want to record tv broadcasts on my box
    how ?
i want it to be suitable for good quality recording of anime series. something like mpeg 4 at 768X576 and good bitrate (about 1 GB / hour). and good audio like 192 mp3
the tv is analog composite video (of high quality - right out of the digital cable box) + stereo audio
video : conexant bt878 (works perfectly with kdetv)
audio : realtek ac97 line in
i want it to be schedule-able so i dont have to start stop it manually. console app i can wrap in a script and add to cron is best. gui app that can schedule stuff and generate automatically filenames is good too

    i tried this
    mencoder tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:norm=PAL:input=1:amode=0:width=768:height=576:adevice=/dev/dsp:audiorate=32000 -oac lavc -lavcopts acodec=mp2:abitrate=224 -srate 44100 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg1video -ofps 25 -of mpeg -endpos 1800 -o temp.mpeg
there is no audio (just silence) with both /dev/dsp and /dev/audio. happens under both kde 3.5 and 4.1. i played with the mixer in the desktop and it does not change anything
i did not figure out how to encode to anything other than mpeg 1. i really dont like its low quality
    mythtv is huge overkill
