Broadcasting PDF file to the Portal via Bursting

Hi there,
I have a requirment to send a Business Partner specific version (filtered by a different BP id)  of a report to the portal as a PDF for 250 different business partners..  These PDF files will then need to be externally exported from the portal for dustribution via direct mail.
The reason for this is the the business partners to not have access to the portal and many do not have valid email addresses.
If this a feasible scenario ?  Bursting seems to only be a possible option for email ?
or can i create 250 different versions of the PDF in a KM folder in the portal ?
Help greatly appreciated.
Mark

Hi Patrick...
No at this point I have not made any headway with this...  just beginning to look at it again today?  have you had to do anything like this ?

    How to upload words, exel, PDF file from the pc via itune to the iPad, and where will the uploaded file be saved? In the apps?

    You will need an app (or apps) on your iPad that is capable of reading the documents, as they will be saved with the app - if you don't have such an app then there is nothing to transfer them to or to read/access them.
    One method of transferring them is toconnect your iPad to your computer's iTunes, select it's app tab, and then scroll to the bottom of it - you should the apps That you've got that are capable of file-sharing (if you've got any).  Selecting/high-lighting one of them should then allow you to add files to it via the box to the right of it.
    An alternative way to get the documents onto your iPad is if the app that you want to transfer them to has a wifi setting, which will then allow you to transfer the documents wirelessly. You can also send the documents to yourself as attachments and then use Mail's 'open in' facility to copy them into your chosen app.
    Edit : more info on file sharing from the manual :
    File Sharing lets you transfer files between iPad and your computer. You can share files created with a compatible app and saved in a supported format.
    Apps that support file sharing appear in the File Sharing Apps list in iTunes. For each app, the Files list shows the documents that are on iPad. See the app’s documentation for how it shares files; not all apps support this feature.
    Connect iPad to your computer.
    In iTunes, select iPad in the Devices list, then click Apps at the top of the screen.
    In the File Sharing section, select an app from the list on the left.
    On the right, select the file you want to transfer, then click “Save to” and choose a destination on your computer.
    Transfer a file from your computer to iPad:
    Connect iPad to your computer.
    In iTunes, select iPad in the Devices list, then click Apps at the top of the screen.
    In the File Sharing section, click Add.
    Select a file, then click Choose (Mac) or OK (PC).
    The file is transferred to your device and can be opened using an app that supports that file type. To transfer more than one file, select each additional file.
    Delete a file from iPad: Select the file in the Files list, then tap Delete.

  • Upgrade to Netweaver causing problem while opening pdf file in the portal

    After an upgrade to Netweaver 4.0, the following code for opening a pdf file constructed from a byte stream passed from an RFC fails.
    Document doc = new Document(PageSize.A4);
    javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse myResponse = request.getServletResponse(true);
    myResponse.setHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment;filename=\"AIPDoc.pdf\"");
    myResponse.setContentType("application/pdf");
    ByteArrayOutputStream baosPdf = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    OutputStream os = myResponse.getOutputStream();
    os.write(pdfResult);
    PdfWriter.getInstance(doc, os);
    It throws a "file not found error" on opening directly. However, if saved and viewed; it opens fine. I believe we need to specify the portal url in the filename but not sure.
    Thanks,
    Devina

    Hi Devina,
    We are also opening a pdf file constructed from a byte stream passed from an RFC.  Our problem is that we are experiencing inconsistent results.  The file appears to open on some PC workstations but not on others.  When it doesn't work we simply get a blank screen in the window.  Did you resolve your issue?  If so, perhaps you can provide us with some suggestions for solving our problem.
    Thank you,
    Angie

  • Error message "The file is damaged..." when open a PDF-File in the Portal

    Dear Experts,
    We converted a Word-File into a PDF and loaded it with the help of SAP Knowledge Workbench into the Portal. When we try to open the file we receive the following error message from the Adobe Reader:
    "The file is damaged and could not be repaired. Local\EWH%a'61kta".
    Two strange things happen:
    - One day it works, the other day not. It can also happen that it works at the same day for some colleagues, but the others get the error message.
    - After press F5 (refresh) several times, the PDF can be opened in any case. It can work after refresh twice, but it can also be needed to press F5 seven times.
    Has anybody an idea why it can happen?
    Thank you very much.
    Diego

    Hi Purush
    Unfortunately we couldn't solve the problem. Our IT specialist checked it with SAP directly. SAP doesn't support the SAP KW solution anymore. Therefore we checked-in the document in ".doc"-Format.

    I have an iPad 2, and I am sending PDF files to my iPad, via a Hotmail account. But, the PDF arrives to the iPad Mail account already opened at the bottom of the email. Is there a way to prevent this auto-opening of the PDF. I've seen screen shots with the box, and PDF listed inside the box, but mine open automatically. I want to get them into iBooks...?

    I am having the same problem and it is even bigger.
    When opening a 1-page PDF in iBooks and sending it via mail it is sent inline as preview, but the recipient cannot open the file anymore. Also on iPad and iPhone there is no "open in" possible.
    Somehow the mail app does destroy the file. What is going wrong?

  • How to control text for PDF Files in the BI7.0 Broadcaster

    Hi ,
    I am running a web template in the BI7.0 Broadcaster. The output prints in the PDF format. In the precalculation tab I have set up 4 variables(VAR1,VAR2 .. etc) . The main folder where these PDF files get stored I can control the text but dont know how to change the PDF file names which fall into this folder. All the PDF files have the technical name and number(like XXX_00000,XXX_00001 etc.) How can I control the text for these files.
    Thanks,
    Kal

    HI Kal,
    it is not possible to get any influence on the filenames. If you use Filternavigation the filename is generated to be unique.

  • I tried sending the Adobe pdf file of a poster via email and it said the file was too large to send.  How do I remedy this?

    I tried sending an Adobe pdf file of a poster via email and it wouldn't go through because it said the file was too large.  How do I remedy this?

    Lots of free file hosters out there. Mediafire.com as an example. Upload a file there, copy and paste the download link you are given into your email to the client, then delete it as soon as the client successfully downloads it. Mediafire has 10 gb storage for free accounts.
    Email is limited to 10 MB on attachments. So that's where file hosting comes in.

  • Help - "Acrobat is being used by another application and cannot open PDF files until the other application is closed."

    Hello,
    I searched this site and google for this error terminology and come up dry.  I support a user who has been for years using Acrobat 5 (yes, I know...) to read files in a client DB program, as well as other PDF files on their PC.  In the last week or so, they have started gatting this error "Acrobat is being used by another application and cannot open PDF files until the other application is closed." any time they attempt to open a PDF file attached to an email (via Outlook).
    It is my understanding that they cannot upgrade to a newer version of Acrobat because of limitations of their client software, but had not previously had any issues viewing PDF notes from the DB, and PDF attachments in their email.
    I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, as well as tried using Adobe Reader 7 & 9 in conjunction with Acrobat to try to get around this issue, but have not been successful.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jesse

    I don't have an answer to your technical problem. The product I assume is Acrobat that you are talking about (based on the post title), Adobe is the company name. This is a good place to ask questions on Acrobat if folks can figure out what you are talking about. They will ask for the product version number (like AA9.3.3), operating system, and other applications if appropriate. Also, just what you are doing that generates the message.
    As for Adobe, you are not likely to get an answer from them here in the user forum. You will be lucky if you can get an answer if you can contact them and not be on hold for more than an hour (sorry, this is why a lot of folks end up in the forum).
    So, to help others try to answer your question, what are the products and versions involved? What OS? What are you doing when the message comes up.

  • How to Save pdf file in the BLOB field in the database

    I have to save a pdf file which is on the client machine to save in the database column of type BLOB. How can i do that?

    LostWorld wrote:
    I have to save a pdf file which is on the client machine to save in the database column of type BLOB. How can i do that?PL/SQL code cannot hack across the network. break into that client machine, and read that PDF file from the client's harddrive.
    There is a very fundamental client-server principle at stake here - the purpose of the client. What is the purpose of the client? Amongst others, it is to interface with the client hardware and peripherals and devices. Like reading the client keyboard and sending that to the server. Or reading data from the sever and rendering it on the client's display device. Or to receive CSV data from the server and writing it to a local file.
    It's purpose is also to read a local file, like a PDF file, and submit that file's contents to the server for storage.
    The following pseudo code explains the basic principle:
    client
      // call oracle to create a LOB
      ExecuteSQL( 'DBMS_LOB.CreateTemporary( .. )' )
      open file( fileHandle )
      while not EOF( fileHandle )
        // read data from the file
        read file( fileHandle, buffer )
        // write this buffer to the LOB in Oracle
        ExecuteSQL( 'DBMS_LOB.writeAppend( .. )' )
      end while
      close file( fileHandle )
      // now tell Oracle what to do with that LOB
      ExecuteSQL( '...' )
      .. etc..Thus the client:
    a) creates a LOB in Oracle via a PL/SQL call
    b) passes data from the client and appends it to the LOB
    c) tells Oracle what to do with LOB, such as inserting it into a table

  • Adding files to the portal

    Hi
    I have an HTML form which has an <input> of type "file." I want to enter a file into the portal, into a specific folder within a specific content area. Supposedly, all I need to do is use the wwsbr_api.add_item function. I've created a PL/SQL procedure which I call from my HTML that what it does is get the parameters from the HTML form (the file name), and then apply the add_item function.
    (I do know the folder's and the content area's id).
    It's not working. I'm getting an ORA-29532 Error. (some Java security exception)
    So, how do I enter a file directly into the Portal?
    (A code example would be great!!!)
    Thanks,
    Dan
    p.s
    I've seen in some example where they use a wwv_.....saveitem function (cant remember the package name -- I could look it up if anybody is interested). This function is not documented anywhere, and so I'm afraid to use it because I dont understand all the parameters, and who knows what changed they'll do to it in the next version and I wont be able to use it anymore....

    Dan,
    You have two options.
    If you want to upload the document via a browser - then use the add_item_post_upload function (vs the add_item function).
    This function assumes that the document is already uploaded and that the p_file_name being passed is the actual document 'NAME' returned when the document is uploaded.
    The other option is to use the add_item procedure and put the document somewhere on the same machine as the database
    -- then the value for p_file_filename is expected to be "The full directory and filename for the file to be uploaded for this file item. The file path must be visible from the
    database machine." If this method is used then the document will be uploaded from the directory into the database as part of the add_item function.
    Hope this helps.

  • Export to PDF - Can a single report (rpt file) create multiple PDF files using the export command?

    Post Author: markeyjd2
    CA Forum: Exporting
    Greetings forum members,
    My question is, in its entirety: Can a single report (rpt file) create multiple PDF files using the export command, ideally one PDF file per DB record?
    In my case; I have a Crystal Report that reads data from a DB table containing ~ 500 records.  When I export the report to a PDF file, I get one PDF file, with ~ 500 pages.
    What I would like to do is export the report to ~ 500 individual PDF files; One file per DB record.  The file names would be based on the table's primary key.
    Is this possible?

    Post Author: Micha
    CA Forum: Exporting
    Hi,
    you need some lines of code, but its easy. Dependend on how to start the generation of your 500 PDFs, you can write an ASP page and start it via Web Browser, or a Windows Script and start it via scheduled job...
    Here's an abstract of the ASP code I use:
    First, you create a recordset (here: "rsc") which gives you the list of ID fields you want to export, then you create CrystalRuntime.Application object, then you loop through the recordset, open your report (here: "oRpt") and set login info. Then set the selectionformula, so that the report displays only the data of the current ID, e.g.:
      oRpt.RecordSelectionFormula = "(" & oRpt.RecordSelectionFormula & ") AND {myTab.myVal}=" & rsc("myVal")
    Then you export the report, move to the next record in recordset, and repeat the loop until recordset.EOF. Then you close recordset and connection.

  • How to put a pdf file in Oracle portal?

    I want to put a pdf file in Oracle portal. But how I do it?

    Are you using Oracle Portal, or Oracle WebCenter Portal?
    In Oracle Portal, you can go to edit mode (use the link or add ?_mode=16 to the url) and create a file item.
    In WebCenter Portal, you need to add the content to WebCenter Content (default content repository for WebCenter Portal) and use something like the content presenter to show the content on a page.
    Kind regards,

  • Save a report 6i PDF file onto the database server

    Hello Experts,
    I have a requirement, whereby I need to generate a PDF report and then send that report via Email. The problem I have is my email procedure is looking for the file which is in the directory on the server where the database is stored, While the PDF is generated on the local machine. Im using reports 6i.
    I know in reports 10g the file is generated on the report server itself but Im afraid same is not the case with reports 6i.
    The other problem is the local machine does not have the access to the directories on the server. I tried to change the directory path in the database to look at the C:\ but it doesn't work, it says invalid directory, I think the PDF report file needs to be on the server where the database is installed. Is there a way I can pick the PDF file from the local machine instead of the server where the database is installed?
    Im not too sure what is the way forward, All I need is to generate a PDF file and mail it.
    The procedure that I'm using to send the email attachment is :-
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE email_attachment(
    xfilename VARCHAR2,
    xloc VARCHAR2) IS
    conn utl_smtp.connection;
    BEGIN
    conn := Send_Mail.begin_mail(
    sender => '[email protected]',
    recipients => '[email protected]',
    subject => 'Attachment Test',
    mime_type => Send_Mail.MULTIPART_MIME_TYPE);
    Send_Mail.attach_text(
    conn => conn,
    DATA => '<b>This is a test Email.<b>',
    mime_type => 'text/html');
    send_mail.attach_base64_fromfile(
    conn => conn,
    filename => xfilename,--'test.pdf',
    floc => xloc,--'File directory',
    mime_type => 'application/octet',
    inline => TRUE);
    Send_Mail.end_attachment( conn => conn );
    Send_Mail.end_mail( conn => conn );
    Thanks any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    in the forms 6i email with attachment can be sent only through database folder/file. From the client it can not be.
    Here is one alternate solution.
    1. Share the folder from db server which is used for email directory and keep changeable for everyone.
    2. After generate the report like RUN_PRODUCT keep the below command.
    HOST('XCOPY CLIENT_PATH\FILE_NAME SERVER_PATH');
    3. This command will transfer file from client to db server. After this execute your procedure which is sending email.
    Hope it will work.
