Broadcom 4312 problems following upgrade

Hi all, how I've written on the object, after 6 years I have to give-up to archlinux, but really I don't want. On my first computer, Arch is working very well, but on new laptop from 8 mouths (HP dv5 1101el), I'm having big problems with wireless:

Every time, I update kernl (for example from 2.6.29 to 2.6.30) I have to reinstall drivers, but with last installed version (2.6.30-ARCH) I've many problems, once time installed driver at next reboot, wireless is disabled and Archlinux doesn't recognize more it.
To install driver I go on this webpage:

Later I write:
depmod -a
modprobe wl (at this point wireless light turn-on on laptop, or it happens at reboot).
By 2 days, I becoming crazy, it doesn't work more this procedure and I don't know how to do. For curiosity I've installed Ubuntu from 2 months on another partition, and this wanting or not, has recognized all. Now I wouldn't pass to another distro, if you have another procedure or another solutions, please, tell me !!!

Just a sidenote. That is not how you use aur/abs.
1. you don't need to specify PKGBUILD
2. you don't need --asroot
3. don't copy the file yourself, pacman -U the finished package instead.

Connection Problems following Upgrade at Exchange

I have been having problems since 1st November.
I had received an e-mail advising that “we’re rolling out our faster broadband and we’ll be upgrading our network in your area on 01-Nov-11…For the first ten days or so after your upgrade, your broadband might slow down or even stop now and again. That's normal and your speed will soon settle down”
That night when I tried to use BT broadband after approx 90 seconds – connection was lost and router re-synced a number of times each hour.
Over next 10 days this did not improve. Contacted technical call centre and after running a line check, I was told that there were ‘anomalies’ on the line. Next day the call centre rang back and said upgrade work was ongoing and I would receive an e-mail when upgrade had finished and things should improve 10 days after the e-mail.
On 25 November I received an e-mail advising “This is to let you know that we've now upgraded your line and you should now have an improved, more consistent broadband connection, and maybe a speed increase.”
Again I saw no improvement in service. Connection was lost after 90 seconds and then a number of times each hour. I also noticed that the connection was lost if a phone call was received.
I spent next 2 weeks talking with call centre, again advised of ‘anomalies on line’ but eventually e-mailed BT Care and fault was logged on 31.12.11.
Fault number:VOL051-53388****** – fault is still shown as being Open.
On 5 January a BT engineer called. Spent a couple of hours testing connection, checking filters etc and told me that bandwidth was very narrow and this was probably the reason for connection dropping. He felt the upgrade at the exchange had caused this. Said the upgrade had been from ADSL to ADSL2. My BT exchange is Cregagh.
I have never had issues in past and due to distance from exchange, I was told to expect speed of between 2-4 mb. I have accelerator plate fitted and problems only began following the upgrade
Could the upgrade at the exchange be causing the connection to drop?
Can anything be done at the exchange to improve the connection? Or is something else causing the problems which are ongoing?
Speed has improved since engineers visit. Although enginner tested filters, could this be the problem?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

the upgrade to adsl2 brings a more aggressive sytem on any noise on your line and what was a good connection on adslmax may not necessarily be a good connection on adsl2 - but can with some effort. as you are using the accelerator you must have an NTE5 master and other extension sockets so have you tried connecting direct to the test socket?
have you removed the bellwire on terminal 3 on all sockets - I know the accelerator helps with this but removal is 100% effective.
have you tried the quiet line test dial 17070 option 2 should hear nothing and best with corded phone if cordless dull hum is normal

Mountain Lion OSx. Big problems following upgrade

i have just installed mountain lion OSx as an upgrade on MacBook Early 2009. Now various apps don't work e.g. iPhoto, iWork. Also Safari keeps crashing. Should I try to unistall and go back to my old reliable OS or try to sort it out as a complete novice ? All help greatly appreciated.

Back up all data.
Boot in safe mode.* This will cause certain caches maintained by the system to be rebuilt. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
Safe mode is much slower to boot than normal.
When the login screen appears, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. In that case, proceed as below.
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then drag or copy into the Terminal window — do not type — and press return:
sudo update_dyld_shared_cache -force
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
Reboot and test.

Music problems following upgrade to 8.2

Hello all,
I'm using a MacBook Pro and current have iTunes 12.1.0.50 and have an iPod touch (5th generation) operating with the new 8.2 iOS.
As soon as I finished upgrading my iOS, my entire iPod was wiped of all my music. Whenever I attempt to put the music back on (manually) using iTunes, it will randomly wipe it all again, leaving me with a status bar that will say there is minimal songs (for example, right now it says there is 115 songs/1.49 GB) and a lot of "other" (for example, right now it says 47.25 GB of other). When I click on "On My Device" and under the "Music" tab, it is showing me (and letting me click on and play) 6019 songs, however when I look on my actual device, only the 115 songs are there.
I've restored twice, each time starting from scratch as though it is a new device. There is no warning when it will do this, and was syncing flawlessly for the previous 6019 songs. Worth noting though is that this is now my third time trying, as this problem has happened much earlier in the process the other times (that is, clearing the music when I was only 1000 songs in).
Please help, this is getting ridiculous.

You can try restoring to factory settings/new iPod. However, other users have reported similar problem so there maybe a bug(s) in iOS 8 and/or iTunes

Problem following upgrade to 10.6

I've been using 10.5.8 for a long time on my late 2008 MacBook. Today, i installed 10.6.3, that was the version on the disk Apple sent me a few months ago. After i installed the OS, i went to check my email in Eudora and got a message saying in order to open it i have to install Rosetta and asking "Would you like to install it now?" This was the second application where i got that message, but the other one wasn't crucial. The first time it happened, i clicked OK about "Would you like to install it now?" There was a long progress bar that said "Finding software." After a long time, i got a negative message, i don't remember exactly what it was but it boiled down to being unsuccessful at installing the software. I just clicked OK because i didnt need it, but when i had the problem come up with Eudora, i am forced to try to solve it.
i googled it and found a discussion here where it was explained that you need to rename a file and do some updates. I tried to follow the detailed instructions which started with going to the Hard drive>Library>Application Support>Rosetta Stone. I was stopped at that point because there's no Rosetta Stone folder in there. I did a Find file search and there is no file named Rosetta Stone on my computer, or anything with the word Rosetta in it. So now i don't know what to do. When i searched google to try to find how i can get the Rosetta software and install it back onto my computer, i found a bunch of answers telling me it's already on my computer. So i'm stuck. i'm going to keep looking. Just wondering if anyone knows any info on this problem.

When Apple migrated all of its new Macs to the Intel CPU platform from the PowerPC CPU platform in 2006, it licensed third party software that Apple used to allow all of its existing users to continue to run most of their PowerPC apps on their newly purchased Intel Macs. Apple called it Rosetta...
It was automatically installed in Intel Tiger and Leopard, but became an optional install in Snow Leopard. When the first PowerPC app is run after installation of Snow Leopard without Rosetta, it would offer the user the ability to download Rosetta over the Internet.
I had thought that Apple had stopped allowing Rosetta downloads and left users to manually install Rosetta from their Mac OS X Snow Leopard Install DVD, through the Customize/Options button. Good to hear that Apple continues to allow for Rosetta downloads.
Apple attempted an educational effort for the six years that it included Rosetta in OS X, but since its use was mostly transparent to the user, most people had no idea what it was or that they were using it, until that horrible experience the first time they try to open a PowerPC app in Lion or Mt. Lion.
Apple's license to continue to include Rosetta expired with Lion (and now Mt. Lion), so running PowerPC apps in these versions of OS X requires one of the three known workarounds.

Sky email problems following upgrade to ios7 on iPad

I have just updated my iPad to ios7 and my email worked for a few hours and then stopped. I have tried resetting my iPad and deleting and adding my email account again and it says it 'the user name or password for IMAP.tools.sky.com is incorrect' but the user name and password is correct and I can get on my email account on my laptop. My email is a sky account. Any suggestions?

B43 won't recognise Broadcom 4312 wireless card

I've had a Dell XPS M1530 laptop for a few weeks now. It's got a Dell 1395 wireless card, which is actually a disguised Broadcom 4312 card.
lspci recognises it as such:

The card works fine with the properietary broadcom-wl drivers. I'm using these right now, in fact.
However, I'd like to use b43 if at all possible, because:
- b43 supports monitor mode;
- broadcom-wl drivers are proprietary, whereas the b43 ones are open.
I have followed the guide on the wiki to extract the firmware from the proprietary drivers:

when I insert the b43 module (sudo modprobe b43), the following shows up in /var/log/everything.log:

... and nothing more. I was told that this isn't normal
The actual problem is that no network interface shows up in ifconfig / iwconfig. The only ones that are there are lo and eth0 (wired ethernet). When I use broadcom-wl, the wireless interface shows up as "eth1".
I have also tried to extract the firmware from some older versions of the driver, but the same thing happens. What's curious is that it'll still say "Firmware-ID: FW13" in /var/log/everything.log...
So, anybody have any clues? I guess it's not that urgent, but it sucks that I have to use a proprietary driver. The only other option I haven't tried is ndiswrapper, and frankly, I'm not sure I want to

Had the same problem this morning after updating to 10.8.2. Mail was finding my dot-mac account as always, but System Preferences popped up and said my iCloud password was incorrect. Did the "forgot password" reset, but still had the same problem. Then I went to icloud.com in Safari, logged in with the new password, it worked no problem. So I went back to the icloud preference pane, signed out of icloud, answered yes to all the warnings about data being deleted from my mac, blah blah blah, then re-signed in to icloud. Everything worked. I did have to set up my icloud account in Mail again, which now lists the account mailbox as "iCloud", and not "mac.com" as it did before. But so far, everything is working (fingers crossed.)

Problems after upgrade bios to v4.3 - P67A-GD65

I was having a problems after upgrade bios to v4.3 of my mainboard P67A-GD65.
After upgraded bios version (FW) its interface was changed and seemed better. also some specifiactions upgraded that i am now able to follow information of bios in my windows. with Control Center.
1) first of all after bios upgrade XMP memory section can only be enable şf ş choose OC geniue on. but with this my cpu warm till 98C degree. because i have only stock cpu cooler of intel.
in normal mode xmp can not be activated so that my memory that corsair vengeance dd3 1600mhz works at 1333mhz only.
Also there was information about what is new in this version of bios fw as:
- Enhanced PCI-E display card performance.
- Improved memory compatibility.
2) second problem that i have i wanted to turn cpu leds which were located above cpu slot blue leds. once i turn them off and it is ok. but when shutdown computer and restart it turn on itself.
so may be there have benn occured a problem that mb can not save edited settings correctly?
3) For last i could not find Winki 3 OS/linuz anywhere is there a link to it to integrate to my mb?

After upgrading to ios 6.1.2 my iphone4 no longer recognises the docking station - anyone else having this problem, how to i fix it?

I have the exact same problem following the software update. My phone doesn't work with my handy clock dock, nor will it work with my FM plug-in for my (old, pre USB jack) car. Is this some ploy by Apple to get us to buy only Apple-brand accessories?

Problem in Upgrading to Jheadstart 9.0.5.1.11

I have upgraded our application which was developed by jheadstart 9.0.5.1.9 to jheadstart 9.0.5.1.11 using the installation guide.
Running the application, we can browse and query without any problem but when we push the save button we will receive the following errors.It seems that something is missed.

thank you very much for paying attention to my problems.
since we were using jhs 9.0.5.1 build 9, we have done the following steps according to Oracle JHeadstart 10g Installation Guide
to upgrade to jhs 9.0.5.1 build 11 :
1- Unzip the JHeadstart 9.0.5.1.11 zipfile over the JHeadstart 9.0.5.1.8/9 Home (J:)
2- Copy all jar files from J:\config\jdevaddins to [JDeveloper Install]\jdev\lib\ext\jheadstart
I verified that we are using the correct jar file by opening it with winzip and There was a file called 9.0.5.1.11 in it.
In addition, I have found that when I create EAR file and deploy it , everything is fine and I don't get those errors
but when we run using embedded OC4J, we sometimes encounter those errors.
I created a new project from scratch to test the situation and I have realized that the new project works fine without
any problem. So, I think that it should be a problem in upgrading.

Problem in Upgrading from 2.1 to 3.1 on Linux

I have a problem while upgrading 2.1 to 3.1 on XE database .
I have been following the procedure given in the below link

when i complied the file apxldimg.sql
it throwed me a error

ORA-06512: at line 15

10.1.3.3 setup Java problem when upgrading from 10.1.3.2

Hi guys!
I have a problem with upgrade from 10.1.3.2 to 10.1.3.3 on Windows
The documentation is old what you can download! So I cannot find anything.
The Infrastructure Installation and Configuration Guide is for 10.1.3.2.1 and from april 2007
The Infrastructure Upgrade Guide goes from Siebel to OBI and from december 2006
The problem is
I have a fully functional 10.1.3.2 with all Java and everything.
When I start the server install I get the following error in a small window:
Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: run Exeption in thread "main"
Where should I look? Should I uninstall the previous version?

I had the same problem when I did the upgrade the very same day of the release. And the solution for me was to login using my battery. For some reason, GDM won't let me in if I'm plugged (I know it sounds crazy, but it works for me)

Inventory Collection Failure Following Upgrade to 3.2

We have 90 Cisco VPN 3002 Hardware clients deployed that we manage using Ciscoworks. Before our recent upgrade from 3.1 to 3.2 all VPN 3002 devices previously inventoried and fetched configs successfully.
Following upgrade this week we are seeing Inventory Collection failures for some (not all) of the VPN 3002 devices.
Not sure if upgrade from 3.1 to 3.2 installs a new device package for this device, but checked following upgrade and there are no Software, Device or Package updates on CCO that we need to install.
I have attached output from IC_Server.log for one of the failed VPN 3002 devices and it looks like the Inventory Collection failure is SNMP related (see attached).
Any idea if we need to upgrade code on the VPN 3002 devices? I tried deleting device from Ciscoworks and readding without success and Config Fetch is working on readded device.

There appears to be a problem getting the ifTable from these devices. It would be helpful to see a sniffer trace filtering on SNMP traffic to one failing device, then on one successful 3002 when performing inventory collection to see if there are any obvious problems. The device is replying with a noSuchName error, but it's not obvious exactly which object is causing the problem.
The other error here is related to the following Altiga objects:
alSepModuleStatsType
alSepModuleStatsState
alSepModuleStatsDspCodeVersion
Again, a noSuchName error is coming from the device.
There were no code changes in the 3.2 device package for VPN3000 devices, so something must be going on with these devices.
