I'm using a asrock z87E-ITX with Broadcom 802.11ac wireless adapter, and windows 8.1
my wireless adapter won't connected to my zte f660 wireless router, but it's connected to any mobile phone thetered device. The problem is when i try to connect, the wireless adapter is automatically disabled and enable it self after it.
i've tried using an external wireless adapter (TP link) and it's connected normally.

    Hello padidisawah,
    What is your current situation?
Have you tried the solution as MVP S.Sengupta mentioned?
Please take the following steps for troubleshooting:
    1. Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\All Categories and run the Network Adapter Troubleshooter
    2. If the wireless adapter can normally connect to other Wireless router, please check the configuration in zte f660 wireless router.

  • Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter Drivers

Hi, I believe the drivers for my network adapter could be out of date and I am unable to find anywhere to download the drivers, would anyone be able to direct me to where I can download drivers for the Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter found in my Alienware 18 laptop, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Current Driver;
Network Adapter : Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter
    Driver Version : 6.30.95.48
    Driver Date : 05/03/2013
    Thanks, Depo.

Add me to the list of people with issues with the Broadcom 802.11ac... I have two identical Alienware 17s, one suffers from constant Wireless Adapter  resets. very aggravating anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes I am discoed and then moments later reconnected.
Additionally, I have seen the major frame stutters, but I just associated that to the WLAN resetting or getting ready to.
I have tried updating Drivers, I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them, I have disabled and enabled the device, I have spent at least four hours on the Dell Troubleshooting pages looking for a resolution, so far nothing has resolved the issue.
I'm at the point I'm thinking it is the Broadcom 802.11ac Adapter
The second Alienware 17 has worked without a single issue.
I could use a little help on this one.

  • Y50-70 Wireless Range for Broadcom 802.11ac BCM4532 is terrible

I received my new business Y50-70, and I have found that the range of the wireless card is awful.  If I am standing within 5 feet of the router I get full speed, but as I walk 10 to 15 feet away (in direct line of sight) I can watch the bars decrease. If I go around the corner into another room, I basically lose all connectivity. This is awful performance for a nice laptop. Are there any settings or way to boost the receiving strenth of the wireless card?  I travel often, and need to be able to connect to hotel wireless, and this will not suffice.  If not, I may have to return this. ThanksMatt

  • 802.11ac wifi speeds with the BCM4360 chip and broadcom-wl driver

    Hello,
    First, some preliminary information:
I'm currently in need of a wireless adapter for my desktop computer. I recently got an Asus RT66U router, so I'm looking for a wireless adapter that supports the 802.11ac standard. The best candidate I've come across is the Asus PCE-AC68, and PCIe based adapter that uses Broadcom's BCM4360 chip, the same wifi chip used in the Late 2013 retina Macbook Pro. It is worth noting that every available 802.11ac compatible PCIe based wireless adapter seemingly uses this chip (I've heard of people having success with 802.11ac speeds using Qualcomm Atheros based wifi adapters and the ath10k driver, but there are no Atheros-based PCIe wireless adapters on the market, as far as I can tell).
The Broadcom BCM4360 chip is not supported by the b43 driver, and I believe it also isn't supported by the brcmsmac driver, since it isn't listed here.
This leaves me with the proprietary broadcom-wl driver, which is listed as supporting the BCM4360.
What I'm interested in learning is how a wireless adapter based on the BCM4360 will perform using the broadcom-wl driver--I don't want to buy a wifi adapter that won't work at its full capacity, after all.
I have found user reports here and here from April 2014 stating that the driver runs BCM4360 based adapters in 802.11a/b/g mode and doesn't allow 802.11n and 802.11ac connections to be made. On the other hand, this user (in a post from June) states that he managed to get ac speeds in Arch simply by changing his router settings. Unfortunately, he doesn't detail what changes he made.
I'm hopeful that the driver was simply updated between April and June and that now BCM4360-based wifi adapters can run at 802.11ac speeds, but as it's closed source, I can't check the commits, and have not been able to find any discussion more recent than what I linked above.
Has anyone had success getting 802.11ac speeds with BCM4360-based wifi adapters and the broadcom-wl driver?

I am currently using the BCM4360 (rev 03) in a MacBook Pro. You are correct in that it does not work with the b43 driver. It mostly works with the proprietary wl driver. I am using the broadcom-wl AUR package. I can confirm that 802.11n works. I am connected right now at 324Mbps (3 .11n spatial streams). I have not tried 802.11ac yet. I will soon, so I will report back.
As for the caveats, it doesn't like 802.1X networks very much. To get it working using wpa_supplicant, I have to reload the wl module. Sometimes when I reload it, it comes back as wlan0 instead of wlp3s0. No idea why. Yet, when I tried it with Network Manager on an Ubuntu live environment, it worked fine. YMMV. It always works fine for me at home on a WPA2-PSK network. If I can pin down something with more consistency, I'll let you know.

    03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter [14e4:43a0] (rev 03)
According to kernel.org, BCM4360 could be either 14e4:4360 or 14e4:43a0

Please be sure to rate the Answers to Questions

A common question we are asked is 'why is my device not achieving 11ac data rates?'
One of the most common answers relates to client compatibility/capability. To get the highest possible data rates of 11ac (assuming proper distance and RF health), the AP and the client device must both be capable supporting the requirements - 5GHZ, 80MHz Channel, short guard interval, 3 spatial streams. Each spatial stream has a max of 433.3Mb/s (at 80MHz, short GI).
The majority of 11ac-capable wireless cards on the market do not support 3 spatial streams. Most adapters in wireless-capable devices are 1SS or 2SS.  For example, the Intel 7260 11ac adapter used in many devices is a 2SS adapter - therefore it's max possible data rate is 866.7.  Another common adapter in use is the 11ac Broadcom 3SS that Apple uses in the newer Macbooks.  These devices can achieve the 1.3GBs PHY data rate.
This guidance is the same for 11n adapters as well.  To achieve max rate, your 11n AP and adapter must both support 40MHz channels, 3SS, short GI.
Note: The 11n and 11ac standards both define support for 4SS.  4SS-capable devices are rare, so 3SS is essentially our reality.
One of the most useful references for questions related to this topic is the AP Data Sheet for each AP.  Here's the AP3700 for example:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/3700-series-access-point/data_sheet_c78-729421.html
Table 1 lists the expected data rate per MCS Index value by #SS at each channel width and GI. Indexes 0-7 are the same for 11n and 11ac (11n limited to 40MHz channels of course).  And MCS 8 & 9 are 11ac-only 256-QAM modulations.

  • Extending Airport Extreme 802.11ac using Edimax BR-6675

I have a brand new Airport Extreme 802.11ac which I am now using as my network hub.
I would like to extend the network, ideally using my old Edimax BR-6675nD 450Mbps 2.4GHz/5GHz .
I have configured the Edimax as a universal repeater (on 2.4GHz only, the 5GHz signal does not reach the repeater).
I seem to be able to decide whether to create a new name for the extended network or to use the same SSID as the hub uses.
When I created a new SSID for the extension I could connect to it on mobile devices, but could not get any internet access.
I have had more success by keeping the SSID for the extended network the same as on the hub, however sometimes my devices complain that there are two networks with the same name and refuse to connect. In that case re-scanning and re-connecting usually fixes the issue.
This would make me believe that the extension is not working at all, however contradicting that I find that once I can connect I am definitely receiving much better signal strength and throughput than before I added the extender.
Connecting the Edimax by ethernet and using a roaming network is not possible.
I have seen a few articles on here warning against extending networks by combining apple with non-apple products. If that really is my core issue (i.e. that this will never work reliably and I should simply bin my old router and buy another Airport) then is there any benefit of buying a second Airport Extreme over an Express for the extension ? I do not have any 802.11ac clients yet, but likely will do within the hopeful lifespan of the routers and thus would rather buy another Extreme now if it meant extending the best signal strength.
    Thanks in advance

Universal repeater can be unreliable.. security is a big bugbear.. setting at the highest level with dissimilar wireless chipsets will often not work.. but it is lucky draw..
Your edimax is Ralink.. the Apple is Broadcom.. bad combo.
Try setting security down to wpa + wpa2 but that can have bad effects on the N wireless in the AE.
If you cannot wire them.. sometimes people can use EOP (homeplug) adapters and they work very well.
I do not have any 802.11ac clients yet, but likely will do within the hopeful lifespan of the routers and thus would rather buy another Extreme now if it meant extending the best signal strength.
I have not tested AC extend wireless on the Apple but I have done it on another identical pair of routers.. the results were disappointing. With range so poor on full AC speed.. the very thing you want to extend will also likely make it extend at poor speed. So the end result is ... you may as well employ a cabler and get a piece of ethernet put in properly.
BTW a second hand extreme will be a lot better than an express.. A gen5 extreme is still an excellent unit and may well have better range than the AC model. You can pick them up in refurbished store in some places or really cheap on ebay if you buy carefully.. The express is really for airplay.. if you don't need airplay you are paying more than the second hand extreme for 10/100 ethernet which will give you slow wireless.

  • Predictions: When will Lenovo X-series support 802.11ac ?

When do you predict we will see a Lenovo X-series laptop introduced that supports 802.11ac ?
FYI - 2 sites I read for reliable tech info, including home networking:
    http://www.anandtech.com/show/7127/the-joys-of-80211ac-wifi
    http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-reviews
I'm getting 375-405 mbps by hanging this orb
ASUS Dual-Band Wireless-N900 USB Network Adapter
    http://amzn.to/14ql6WG
off my downstairs Thinkpad's USB port .
That orb pairs with an ASUS RT-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N900 upstairs.
On the downside, it's something permanently plugged into my USB port.
On the upside, with a USB cord extender, it easily stays put on the laptop coffee table.  And I like the idea of the antenna being further away from my brain.  Most importantly, the performance is compelling. (it seems to be twice as fast as before)

Any Lenovo laptop with mini PCI-E port should support 802.11ac as long as there's no whitelist in the BIOS. I could've put the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 on my Y470, but instead I chose the Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 since the Wireless-AC version has a bluetooth integrated which conflicts with my Broadcom bluetooth that came with the laptop. The Wireless-AC itself works, but both my Broadcom bluetooth and Intel's bluetooth won't work (they both show an yellow triangle with exclamation point on Device manager). The Wireless-N version has no bluetooth so the built-in Broadcom bluetooth works fully.

  • Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter not working on Windows 7 64bit

As the title suggests, my laptop (Alienware m17x) is installed with the Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter and Windows 7 64bit Home Premium.  I have had several other driver incompatibility issues with Windows 7, but those I have slowly been able to resolve.  This however just cropped up after two months of successful use.  Yesterday it started failing to connect to the internet, telling me that no wireless connections are available.  I live in a dorm, and everyone else on my floor has successful wireless, including my Ipod Touch, PS3 and XBox 360.  I called Alienware/Dell Support and we spent hours trying to fix the problem and all look well until I rebooted my laptop this morning and the same issue reappeared.  When I reboot my laptop, all I get is a notification that no networks appear in range.  If I uninstall the broadcom chip and let windows install it after a boot up it works until the machine is rebooted a second time.  I have tried over a dozen windows 7 drivers for the chip, and about half a dozen vista drivers and they all have the same results, works on the first boot, fails every time after that

Just registered to say, on an Alienware M17x system as well running Windows 7 Ultimate, here is a link to a solution that worked exactly for me:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/436486-guide-properly-solve-wireless-connection-problems-m17x.html
All I did was section I.a. If the link is down, I copied the only section that I needed to follow out of this guide, in order to get my wireless to work repeatedly without having to uninstall the wireless driver every single reboot. Now it works perfectly,
already connected to a wireless network on startup.
I.a. Disable Device sleep on disconnect
Some newer Nvidia Ethernet drivers have a feature called Device sleep on disconnect. This is the culprit. Normally, it should only put the Ethernet adapter to sleep when the cable is disconnected, but it's buggy and thus kills the wireless connection as
    well.
Follow these steps to disable this feature on your Nvidia Ethernet Adapter:
    1. Open the Windows Device Manager by hitting Win+Pause, then click on Device Manager on the left side.
    2. Double-click on Network adapters.
    3. Double-click on NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller (yes, that's the wired Ethernet adapter indeed).
    4. Click on the Advanced tab.
    5. Select Device sleep on disconnect.
    6. Set the Value to Disabled.
    7. Click OK and wireless should work again (might require a reboot afterwards, but probably not).

  • Can my mid 2011 macbook air be upgraded to wifi 802.11ac?

Can my mid 2011 macbook air be upgraded to wifi 802.11ac? I am considering replacing my 802.11n router with the 802.11ac time capsule. Will this effect my download speed on my 802.11n macbook air (mid 2011)? can it be upgraded?

No, you cannot change the Wi-Fi hardware in your Mac. The Time Capsule is still worth it due to its ability to make backups of your Mac via Time Machine.

  • Trying to Port Forward Airport Extreme 802.11ac using Airpot Utility 6.3.2

Hello kind experts. I am finally getting around to replacing my old BEFSR81 Cisco Router with an old Time Capsule attached with the Airport Extreme 802.11ac.  The BEFSR81 also had 8 ports, so I have 8 hardwired locations throughout the house.  I have a couple of IP cameras for which it was easy to port forward on the Cisco (just click on the port range forwarding tab, type the start/end ranges (which are identical) and the assigned IP address).  Everything has been working well for years.  Here's what I wish to do with the new setup: Cable Modem -> Airport Extreme -> Dumb gigaport switch with the hardwires connected to it.
When I go to Airport Utility (6.3.2) -> Network Tab -> Port Settings -> "+", the following comes up:
Firewall Entry Type (Defaulted to IPv4 Port Mapping)
    Description (5 pull down choices)
    Public UDP Ports : _________
    Public TCP Ports: __________
Private IP Address (I take it that is where I enter the IP address for each camera, e.g. 192.168.1.xxx)?
    Private UDP Ports: __________
    Private TCP Ports: __________
I am obviously not a technophile, especially when it comes to networking, but was able to create my old setup.
Any advice on whether or not my configuration is appropriate and what exactly I need to put in the port fields would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

To successfully access an IP camera on the local network from the Internet, the following basics need to be taken care of:
Install the camera(s) and verify that you can access them from the local network.
Configure port mapping/forwarding on your router. Typically, IP cameras require at least two ports: 1) A web port for administering the camera; Usually TCP port 80, and 2) A streaming port to broadcast the camera video feed; Usually UDP port 9000. Note: You should check with your camera's documentation for the exact ports required.
If the camera is attached to a computer, you will need to configure the computer's firewall to open the same ports as in step 2 above.
Verify that your modem is in bridge mode, i.e., if the modem provides NAT & DHCP services, turn them off.
Test your network. Use CheckIP to determine your router's current WAN-side (public) IP address. Then, from a remote location (not from a computer on the local network), use the DynDNS Open Port Tool to verify that the required ports are open. Success is an "Open" response from the Tool.
Check out the following AirPort User tip for configuring port mapping on an AirPort base station.

  • Airport Extreme 802.11AC + 5th Gen and guest network access

I have the current gen Airport Extreme 802.11AC with a 5th Gen extending the network. With this setup, I am unable to login using our guest network setup. I have tried using guest network with a password and one without but its the same results. When a guest logins, it stuck attempting to login with no error messages.
So is it possible to have this configuration and still have guest network access?

Please review what I said originally.......that the guest network function on the AirPort Extreme is designed to work with a simple modem......so the AirPort acts as the main router for the network..
Another way of saying the same thing is that the AirPort needs to be "in charge" of your network for the guest feature to work correctly. The AirPort cannot be in charge if it is connected to another device that is already configured to be the main router on your network.....your Actiontec modem/router.
The Actiontec device combines the functions of a separate modem and a separate router in one package. This type of device is known as a modem/router, or also known as a gateway.
Some folks call a modem/router or a gateway......a modem. So, things can get confusing.
I do not know if it is possible for the Actiontec device that you have to be configured to act as a simple modem.....so the routing functions of the device are completely turned off. (Turning off the wireless on the Actiotec does not turn off the routing function).
If you turn off the wireless on the Actionec, it becomes a modem and a wired router. And that wired router is still in charge of your network.
The guest network feature will not work correctly unless the AirPort is in charge of your network.
My suggestion was for you to ask your Internet Service Provider (ISP), if they could supply you with a simple modem.  That is all that you need. You don't need two routers....and the Actiontec that you have now is not allowing the guest feature to work correctly.

  • Issue with new Airport Extreme Base Station 802.11ac

I just purchased an AEBS (new model with 802.11ac).  I'm using it with Comcast internet service using a Motorola Surfboard SB6121.
I have a very odd and frustrating issue.  The internet simply blips in and out.  I have it set up with WiFi and have connected devices such as my iPhone, iPad, Mac Pro, and a Chromebook to it.  I have the issue on all devices so I know it's not device specific.
The network itself never goes away.  When I look at the WiFi area on my Mac even when the internet isn't working it shows it's connected to the WiFi network.  Also, when the internet is not working the green light is on and staying lit (not blinking) on the AEBS so it appears the WiFi Network part of it works fine.
As mentioned it's the internet service itself that blips in and out.  What I mean by this is it may come on for 40 secs, go off for 20 secs, back on again, and off, just like that. I have not timed it and that would be hard but it seems to be very regular, something like 40 on, 20 off, and it may not even vary at all.  It's a very bizarre issue.  I have also direct connected the modem via ethernet to my Mac Pro. I used it for several problems with no problem so I know it's not the modem.
The only thing I can think of is I received a defective AEBS.  I purchased it through Amazon and I almost contacted them to do a replacement and send this one back.  Yet I'm hoping it's something simple with the settings.  Now I have already done a factory reset of the AEBS and that did not help.  Yet I'm hoping it's simply a setting that I need to modify or wipe out.  Any idea of what's causing this or is it simply a defective base station?
    Thanks for your help.

There is a bug with the modem where the ethernet is not syncing properly.. The bug is particularly bad with SB6121 and SB6141.. so you got it right.. welcome to the bug farm..
    https://discussions.apple.com/search?q=sb6121
    https://discussions.apple.com/search?q=sb6141
There is no solution.. a new one could do the same. It is not 100% consistent.. I have recommended people use a small 10/100 switch between the modem and the AEBS.. or use a cross over cable. It works for some but not everyone.
Some modems seem to work better.. but IMHO it is not your problem it is apple's.. and they are keeping quiet as they do.
Send the AEBS back either for replacement.. and hope for a better one.. or just get a refund and buy something better.. eg Netgear R7000 or Asus RT-AC68U.

  • Setup Problem New Airport Express 802.11ac

    Current setup is:
Cable Modem to Linksys Router to Ethernet Switch to Airport Express 802.11n (in bridge mode).
Airport Express is plugged into the ethernet switch and set to a fixed LAN address.
    Everything works fine and reliable.
Just bought a new Airport Express 802.11ac
Plugged it into another ethernet switch port and tried to set it up the same way (bridge mode), but used a different fixed LAN address and different wireless network name.
I get a warning message that it cannot get a DNS.
I go ahead anyway and it doesn't work.  Router hangs and has to be rebooted.
When I set the new AEX to "extend existing network", it works ok.  But I assume that in this mode I'm still limited by the speed of the old 802.11n device, which is between me and the router and modem.
What is the reason that I can't have two AExpress units both in bridge mode tied to the same router?

... But I assume that in this mode I'm still limited by the speed of the old 802.11n device, which is between me and the router and modem.
Correct. Also, you won't be able to use 802.11ac anyway unless you are using a new MacBook Air or other device capable of  802.11ac.
Make sure that the AirPort Utility setup screen did not say "Setting up this AirPort Express to wirelessly extend (your network name)".
The words you must see are "Setting up ... using Ethernet".
If necessary, set it up again beginning with a "hard reset" and verify that is the result. Leave it connected as you described when you do. Your proposed configuration should work.

  • How to Setup Airport Time Capsule 802.11AC on Verizon fios

I just got an Airport Time Capsule 802.11AC and i would like to set it up on to my existing verizon fios router as you can't change their router as the cable box works with it does anyone know how to do such a thing?

Setup is amazingly quick and easy, assuming that you connect a permanently installed Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <--> ports on the Fios router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule, and then use AirPort Utility on your Mac or iPhone/iPad for the setup.
We need to know what operating system you are using on your Mac to provide any specific setup details. Or, let us know if you are going to use an iPhone or iPad for the setup.
The Time Capsule will set up another wireless network, so if  you do not need two networks, you can turn off the wireless on either the FIos or Time Capsule.
