Broadcom WiFi issues after sleep/hibernate

This has been an ongoing battle that I have yet to make any progress on.
When coming out of sleep or booting back from hibernate the wifi will not connect to a network.
The error upon trying to connect to a found network is:
Windows was unable to connect to {network name}
After a hard reboot I can connect to any of the networks.
Tried disable/enable the wifi adapter, adjustments to power management settings.  Tried fresh installs with various broadcom drivers, with and without power management settings, etc.
S10-3T N470, 2GB
Fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate x86 (also tried x64)
Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter
Date: 10/23/2009
Version: 5.60.18.41
Hardware ID: VEN_14E4 DEV_4727
Power Management disabled (Device Manager - "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power UNCHECKED")
The networks I've tried are both home and work:
Home: AT&T UVerse 2Wire, Linksys WRT54Gv8 w/ WPA2-AES
Work: Apple Airport (unknown security, likely WPA)
Both work with Dell Latitudes, iphone, windows mobile with no issues
I'm fairly technical and knowledgeable but I haven't found what would be causing this issue or others having similar problems.  I'm afraid if I can't resolve this soon I'll be retiring the S10-3T - which would be a real shame - so much potential but an unreliable wifi is a problem for me.
Perhaps the best solution would be to replace the Broadcom with another wifi that provides more regular drivers (intel) but I understand the bios has a very limited whitelist of allowed components (really lenovo?!).
Thanks all - GREAT forums - very very helpful/interesting discussions

similar issues exist within win7 with other cards especially the latest Intel cards: clarify the configuration setting for the wifi adapter and that both 2.4 and 5.2 bands are set to automatic and that your router is also set to automatic: depending on the router, the intel cards will or will not pick up 20 or 40 mgz signals
sorry if this sounds confusing but it is an issue with the card and the router playing nice and the combinations are great: a lot of it is trial and error so that by the time you sort it, you are unable to explain what you did!
I guess what I am suggesting is that it is the settings within the card and the router more than a driver issue (not that some drivers are not worse than others)
hope this helps you problem solve if these are areas you have not yet adjusted and tinkered with

  • MacBook Air 11 2014 Wifi Issues After Sleep

I know that people have reported their wifi taking a long time to establish a connection after sleep.  I thought I would test my brand new MacBook Air 11 2014 by closing the lid for several hours to see what happens.  When I opened the lid, the wifi signal was full and not greyed out like other people have reported.  However, my internet was dead.  Could not connect to websites or find my iTunes library on my other Mac.  In order to get it working again I have to switch the wifi off, then back on again.  I'm not 100% sure why I am reporting this as it seems to be a big issue with Mavericks.  Its just the majority have reported the wifi logo being greyed out and taking a long time to find its corresponding network.

  • Satellite Pro A210 PSAFHE - Windows 7 - freezes after sleep/hibernate

I have a Satellite Pro A210 PSAFHE running dual boot Windows XP/7
Using Windows 7 - either 32 or 64 - the system always freezes after sleep/hibernate.
This never happens with XP which sleeps and hibernates OK..
There are no drivers at all for this notebook on the site http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
I like System 7 and use it on my other computers but without sleep/hibernate I will revert to XP.

    Hi
    > There are no drivers at all for this notebook on the site http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
Sorry mate but you are wrong.
All Win 7 drivers for Satellite Pro A210 are released on the Toshiba European driver page I recommend checking it again
Since this issue does not appear using Win XP, I can say for sure that this has nothing to do with the hardware but its a software related issue
I recommend updating the graphic card driver
Furthermore there is a new BIOS for Sat Pro A210 PSAFHEits v2.0
Check if you are using the latest version

  • T440s in Windows 7 Pro loses Wifi connection after sleep 7260AC

    Hi guys,
I keep having issues waking up from sleep with my T440s.  It WILL NOT connect to wifi and the wireless adapter under windows adapter settings disappears.  Only thing that fixes this is a reboot.  I have removed "allow windows to turn this device off" under wireless settings.
    Driver: 17.12.0.4
    Dated: 28/08/2014
    Software: Lenovo Access Connections
I do not use windows to connect to WIFI.  I have dedicated profiles for each of my wifi networks at home and work.
This is a serious productivity killer.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This is a well-known issue with the AC card.  Go take a look at the Intel forum.
You don't necessarily have to reboot to get the card back.  Right click it in Device Manager and then disable/enable.  It will come back online.
Some tips that have worked for many:
-DO enable the power saving setting.  If I disable it on my T440p, the card is offline upon wakeup.
-Ditch ProSet and let Windows manage your wifi.  Profiles might be convenient, but...
-Ad Hoc QoS - WMM enabled.  Enable it on your router(s), too.
    -Ht Mode - VHT
-U-APSD support - this one can go either way.  Some leave it on and don't have an issue.  Some have to disable it to have the card work after sleep.  You have to play with it.
And, I really believe that the router/modem type can make a difference, too.  Some just don't work right with this card no matter what you tweak on the card.  With this card, I think an AC router/modem is the way to go.
Another thing is the driver itself.  I had wake issues when I first got this ThinkPad about 10 months ago.  Then, Intel released v 16.6 and that one fixed it.  I've tried all of the 17s released since and all of them caused sporadic failures to wake.  So, I have always rolled back to 16.6 and it always wakes.
Note this:  If you use Lenovo Update, it won't create a restore point in Windows so your "Roll Back Driver" button might be greyed out in DM.  Always manually create a restore point before you update a driver.  And, if it's working, whatever it is, leave it alone.  If the release notes don't address an issue you're having, skip it.
Driver updating is way oversold here and elsewhere.  If you're determined to update anyway, at least don't be an early adopter.  Let other peeps do it first and then come back here and see about the complaints!  Also, you can download the driver at Intel in their Administrators sets of drivers.  Bare drivers and no software overhead.
    Good luck.

  • MBPR wifi issues after latest update to 10.9.2

    Hi all,
After the latest update to 10.9.2 my Macbook Pro Retina (1st gen) seems to be having issues re-connecting to wi-fi after I wake it up from sleep. Although I've read stories about wifi-issues with the retina line in general, I've been lucky enough to have mine run pretty smoothly so far. That is until the latest update ... for some reason, this happens EVERY time i close and open my laptop.
And yes, it's a easy fix. Usually all i need to do is to turn off wifi and turn it on. But it's getting slightly annoying having to do that every time.
Has anyone else had this issue? and are there by any chances a solution for this problem?
    Appreciate the help!
    All the best
    Farid

    Hello thegreatbeard,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with Wi-Fi on your MacBook Pro.  I would be concerned about this too.
I recommend following the steps in the section labeled, "Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly" in the article below to resolve an issue like the one you described:

  • U410 touch WiFi issues after upgrading to windows 8.1

    Hi all,
    I have a U410 touch and yesterday I upgraded to windows 8.1
    I have major WiFi issues.
connection drops after a few minutes giving limited. troblesshooting resets the adapter saying ''the default gateway is not accessible '' is fixed. But after a few minutes the problem comes back. and it goes like this forever.
I have the Intel Centrino N-2230 and I installed the driver I found here (15.10.3.2).
I''ve tried to uncheck the power management option but the problem is still there.
I also have other issues with the dolby system (I see others have the same problem )and my touch screen is not working.
any help will be greatly appreciated
    thanks!

    Hi-
I am also running into the same issue with my Lenovo U410 and it is really frustrating. I also have Centrino Wireless chip with driver version 15.10.3.2 and I have windows 8.1
I bought the laptop from Costco and was having similar issues. I sent it back to Costco Concierge who apparently replaced the wireless chipset on this laptop but now I am getting this issue.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Wifi issues after Android 4.4.2 update (specifically WEP issue with 2.4GHz router)

I have an old Westell 2.4Ghz Wifi router which is using 128-bit WEP security (13 character password).
When I bought my HTC One it came with Android 4.2.2 and could not connect to my home Wifi.  After rebooting, changing passwords, using 2.4GHz network freq on the phone, and trying the mystical power-down, volume-down, special-screen trick ... nothing worked. However, Verizon was kind enough to extend my data plan for free so I could download the massive 4.3 update over 4G network.  Android 4.3 fixed my WEP / Wifi issue.
Early this morning (Feb 18, 2014), Android 4.4.2 was downloaded and installed on my HTC One.  Guess what?  No wifi connection after restarting the phone, rebooting the wifi, etc.  Isn't that nice?
Android developers, I plead for your mercy.  Please stop making x.x.2 releases!
And also, please fix the WEP issue in 4.4.3.

    Upgrade == $$$
No thanks.  I'll spend my money on more important things, like little gifts for my wife.
I have several devices connected to my home WiFi that work just fine (printer, laptops, flat-screen tv, etc).  It is just these Android 4.4.2 devices that fail (yes, I have two HTC One phones, both with the same problem).
Reading the posts on forums.androidcentral.com , it looks like lots of folks are having the same issue.

  • System does not automatically reconnect to wifi network after sleep/restart

My iMac G4 (2GB RAM, 10.5.1, AirPort Extreme) does not automatically reconnect to my wife network after waking from sleep or restart. I just recently switched the iMac from a wired to wireless set-up though the machine has always had the AirPort card. In wired mode, it always automatically found the network.
Network preferences have the "Ask to join new networks" checkbox selected. Below the checkbox it reads "Known networks will be joined automatically."
My wireless router is Linksys WRT150N, security type is PSK and encryption method is AES key.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    bk

I'm having the same problem, the only way i can connect to my wireless network is to restart the computer, and open safari immediately. Then once it goes to sleep or i shut the notebook, i have to restart it again to use the internet. It's driving me nuts, and nobody knows how to fix it. I've tried firefox (it didn't help) and my sisters macbook connects just fine to my network, so it has to be a network setting. I'm going to schedule an appointment with a mac store tomorrow. so I'll post again when they fix it for me. hopefully i will understand how they solve the problem so i can post it to you guys

  • Does anyone solved wifi issue after ios 6 or 6.1.2 or 6.1.3?

My wifi works intermitently. sometimes it is grayed out, sometimes it is just searching network. I dont know how this issue has come? This all started after ios 6.1.2. and ios 6.1.3 didnt fix it for me. Have done all reset or restoration as a new device but with no success. I think apple is going to bite the dust very soon if this continues. Please note the router is woking fine coz i m running new ipad on ios 6.1.2 and there is no issue with wifi. Should i wait for ios next update or get the wifi module fix.? this is what i was told by one person who does all phone repair work.
Suggest something concrete. i am without wifi since last 1.5 months now. Apple is just ignoring the problem. does anybody solved this issue after multiple software updates ? The problem is my warranty is gone in January itself. and i have purchased this phone from USA and i live in india.

    See if this helps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
if not, it is hardware failure. Apple provides warrantee support for iPhones only in the country of sale.

  • BSOD VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR after sleep/hibernate on windows 8.1 HP Zbook 14

I have a new HP ZBook Mobile 14 workstation that I have upgraded to windows 8.1.
Unfortunately after it has gone to sleep/hibernate the machine will always BSOD referencing VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR when I try to wake it up. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing all the drivers but am not having any joy. I have also disabled
fast start up and hibernate from the power options but that has not improved the situation.
I have put the mini dumps on OneDrive: MiniDumps
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers, James

    James
Ouch 21 crashes in a week.  These were related to your video driver (igdkmd64.sys) causing DirectX to fail.  There is a known problem with the March 2014 drivers (yours) and the July 2014 drivers.  As a first step I would remove the current
driver and revert back to a driver that is at least 6 months older at least until they release a less buggy driver.  This is one of those times when a newer driver isnt better.

  • Wifi issues after upgrading from Maverick to Yosemite. No solutions have worked.

I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.1 from Mavericks. Having wifi issue where I can't connect to my home network. It connects for 5 seconds than I get "no IP address", and then the connection drops. A free local wifi connection does work. Any ideas until this issue is fixed by Apple? My home router worked fine in Maverick. I tried all the online suggestions but nothing has worked. Have not downgraded yet to Maverick but thinking about it.

If you are using WEP as a security on your router that is why it won't connect. WEP is so old school and very insecure that Apple has made it so there WiFi cards won't connect to WEP. It might as well be wide open. You can try that. Take all security, WEP/WPA/WPA2, off your router and see if it connects.
If it does then use either WPA or better WPA2.

  • Iphone 5s have wifi issue after upgraded to ios8.

Iphone 5S have wifi issue afetr upgraded to IOS 8. Does Apple know about this?? Its really frustrating the signal is weak.

If you look at google there are some problems with ios8 and it happens to be wifi issue for me.
If I look at google, I will find that people reporting problems with every version of iOS. And accounts of being abducted by aliens. Just because you are having a WiFi issue does not necessarily mean the issue is with iOS 8 (correlation does not prove causality). Until you've done proper trouble shooting (or had Apple do it for you if you don't feel equipped), it's almost impossible to say why you are having a problem.
My iPhone 5S is not having any issues with iOS 8.

  • Ideapad U160 - Internal Card Reader Issue After Sleep

    Hi All.
I've just purchased a Lenovo U160 and I've not been able to solve an issue with the internal card reader. It's a "Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader" internally wired to the motherboard.
When I got the laptop, I put a Momentus XT in it and installed Windows. I've tried using the drivers that were included on the Lenovo recovery partition, the ones on their website, and the ones direct from Realtek with no success.
The problem is, when my laptop resumes from sleep mode, I get a fair few "new USB device" noises and about the same number of "USB device not recognized" errors. If I look in the device manager when this happens, the card reader is no longer there, and I have an "Unknown Device".
After a shut down, or a reboot, it's back again.
I've tried another clean install of Windows but I'm still having the same issue (I've applied KB974476 and KB978258 before installing the drivers).
There are no sleep options in the BIOS, it's very basic. I am running out of ideas..
    Any thoughts?
