Broadxent v.92 modem with K7T Turbo2

Running The K7T Turbo2
AMD 1500XP
256 PC133
Nvidia Geforce2 MMX 400
onboard sound
Windows 98
Trying to get the Broadxent v.92 internal modem to work. It works in my kids' computer, and my husband's but in my the enumerator is found and installs, then the modem is not! Tried all pci slots, turned off onboard usb, gameports, etc., updated drivers, tried different things in the bios. No luck. I am really aggravated as this modem connects really well and I don't want to just put it in the kid's computer! LOL

Hi,
In your BIOS is a modem setting, and normally it's set to auto, what happens if you set it to disabled?

  • Running XP with K7T Turbo2

Does XP run properly AT ALL with this board? Everytime I start it up, I can get it to run for the most @ 30 minutes, before i get an error that shuts me down for the next three hours. I get an ACPI.sys error, I've gone to Microsoft, I've downloaded the latest drivers and BIOS and I am almost ready to make a giant paperweight of it! If anyone has any advice please help me. Also, everytime I run liveupdate2, I get an error that says only MSI display drivers work, and the service won't load... is that normal? If it is.. WHY?  :O  Anyways, thanks to anyone who can help me...

I have ran XP, both Pro and Home without mishap on that board.  It was very stable.  I don't think it is a compatibility error between xp and the board.  That doesn't mean one doesn't exist between XP, the board, and another piece of hardware.  As asked already, please list all hardware for better help.

  • No post with k7t turbo2

i cant seem to get this thing to post, i have tried new cpu, memory, vid card, m/b, tried with m/b out of case, nothing, then all of a sudden it seems to work, then not so well.  i built another system with same m/b about six months ago and it worked fine until monday, now it does the same thing!  please help!  and yes the bios is updated.

doesnt seem to matter too much (the hardware) but here goes...
    system 1:
    Athlon xp 1800
    512mb pc133 SdRAM
ATI 7000 vid card (64Mb) (tried 32Mb nvidia geforce 2)
WD 80 gig HD (tried with no HD's and with 10 gig seagate)
    350w power supply
    system 2:
    duron 1.3
    512 mb pc133
    nvidia geforce 2
    IBM 40 gig
    320W ps
also, it has the d-bracket installed and the led's make it to the mem test and then the system powers down.  i know for sure the memory works, tried it in other systems.

  • K7T Turbo2 Compatibel with.....????

Just want to know if anybody know if it is true that K7T Turbo2 (MS-6330 V.5)realy is Compatibel with the XP 2700+
Course in the "CPU Support" Section on MSI Homepage says it does...??????

ABSOLUTELY NOT. The 2700 is a 333FSB XP CPU It is :D  :D  :D  therefore NOT able to be used on a TURBO2. However the new 2400/2600 XP cpus WILL work on the board with the soon to be released 3.6 bios because they are 133/266 fsb cpus. BIGDADDY51 CT USA. )  :D  :D

  • K7T turbo2 problem with HD

    K7T Turbo2 mainboard(V3.5, KT-133A chipset) with Athlon XP 1800+ CPU.
When I put Seagate 80gb drive,100 ST380021A at primary, WD 4GB as secondary. Says "Can not load operating system".  When I place 4GB western digital as primary and Seagate as secondary computer boots
fine.  can read secondary hard drive(80GB) just fine.  Seagate drive has OS windows 2000 loaded onto it.  ST works fine when I pop it as a primary on other systems win2k would load just fine.   Deleted OS folder and boot.ini from ST drive and tried to boot as primary, same error message.  Just can not get friggin mainboard to read my 80GB HDD as primary!!!
please help before I take this mainboard back...

What does your boot.ini contain?  It might be pointing to the primary slave, though i do see your point as to why it boots in primary in other comps.  Just post your boot.ini and I'll look to see if there is anything wrong or out of place.

  • K7T Turbo2 (6330v5) problem (with locked Tbreds)

    Hi,
I've recently bought a K7T Turbo2 board (6330v5) OEM version (green PCB) made probably for Fujitsu-Siemens UK. They probably didn't need those board anymore and sold them (a lot of wholesalers have them in my country now).
Anyway I think the board I bought is damaged, but I not sure.
    The problem is that it won't POST with locked T-breds. I've tried a 2000+ (3rd week of 2004) and a 2400+ locked T-bred (46th week of 2003) and the PC haven't started.
But with a T-Bird 1400Mhz, a 1700+ and 1800+ Palomino (probably locked) and 2400+ unlocked T-bred the board started without any problems.
Is this the problem with new XP processors (produced after the 39th week 2003 and internally locked) and this board or I have a damaged board?
    TIA,
    Max

Well, I didn't know it was the OEM version when I was buying it...  But in this case I don't think the bios is the problem. The board looks virtually the same as the normal board.
    And it boots with a pre-39 (24th week of 2003) T-bred 2400+, so it's not a lack of compatibility with T-bred issue.
For me it seems that this board has problem with T-bred made after the 39th week of 2003 (internally locked ones).
So I need to know if all of those boards have the same problem, or only this one?
BTW. Currently I'm running my unlocked T-bred 2400+ on a Abit KT7A board, and I've tried the same locked T-bred 2400+ that failed on MSI K7T Turbo2 on my abit board and it also didn't boot. So maybe there's something wrong the KT133A chip which makes KT133A boards incompatible with new locked T-breds?
Of course the locked T-bred runs fine on a KT400 board or a nforce2 ultra400 boards...

  • Need help with T-bred on K7T Turbo2????

I just got a K7T Turbo2, the one that supports all the way up to XP2600+ 266FBS cpu's.
    and I am trying to use a XP2100+ T-bred "B" in it.
and I can not select 133FSB.
every time I try it defaults back to 100FSB, heck I can select, pretty much any multiplier, but they are not right.
    if I pick 8X  I get 16X, if I select 13X i get 20X?????
it wont detect the cpu correctly and I cant select the correct settings manually.
I flashed to the latest bios already, and it does this with either bios.
It must be something simple, I just have never had a MSI board before and dont know my way around the bios very well yet???
Thanks for any help ahead of time.

I knew it was something simple, it has a 100/133FSB jumper J17 I have to set to 133FSB, DUH!!!
This is the first KT133A board I have had that you cant do this in the bios.
    oh well no biggie.
will change it when i get home.
and I found a 16X and a 20X multiplier so hopefully thuis thing will run my T-bred at 2.4GHZ of more and 150FSB or more.

  • K7T Turbo2 wont post with a Duron

    plz help me!
    My system is as follow
    2 x 256 legend brand pc133 SDRAM
    GF4 MX440 Video Card
    K7T Turbo2 Mainboard
    Seagate Barracuda
    Sony 52x24x52 CDRW
    250Watt Power Supply
The system used to run a 1.2 Duron perfectly. I then upgraded to a XP2400+ and flashed the BIOS to the latest version. Now when i try to run it with the 1.2 Duron againt it will not POST. I replaced the duron with a brand new 1.3GHz and still no POST. I put my 2400XP+ back in and the system worked perfectly. I have tried clearing CMOS and limiting the FSB to 100MHz and still no POST with the Durons. I am all out of ideas, i have replaced every component i can think of (Video card, PSU, RAM) and no luck.
    Someone please help me!

    Welcome,
First, you're lucky to get the XP and GF4 to run with such a low rated PSU (and this may lead to problems w/that config).
You did replace the J17 jumper for 100 FSB?
LED readings (see Manual)upon re-installing Duron (all red)?
Did you try clearing CMOS before re-installing Duron?

  • ATI Radeon 9000 with a K7T Turbo2

    I have a K7T Turbo2 running AMD XP 2100+.
I had a Asus GeForce4 MX 440 with 8xAGP 64MB. Then swapped it out for a MS ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB.  I installed it, after the installation, it rebooted, then after the Windows XP Home Edition screen, it blacks out.  ;(  Can anybody tell me why?  I tried even the ATI driver too, and same thing.  My board handles the max of 4xAGP. Could that be it?  Either driver I use, I get the same result.  Can someone help me? ) Thanks.

can you access XP in safe mode? It could be the refresh rate set itself too high.  Try going into the display control panel and setting it back to the minimum settings at 60hz, reboot, and it should be fine if that is the problem.

  • K7T Turbo2 and new Athlon 1700

    Hello!
I have a K7T Turbo 2 motherboard with an AMD Duron 1200, which ran fine. I recently purchased AN AMD Athlon 1700+ so that I could take advantage of the 133 FSB on the board rather than the 100 FSB of the Duron.
The first thin I did was flash the Bios to version 3.4. I then removed the J17 jumper on the board to run at 133fsb. When I first restarted the computer, everything seemed to be fine. Then I started to receive an error message that stated “Pagefault_in_nonpaged_area” and had to reset. Sometimes I received the message after a full boot and others while booting and became more frequent. At one point I needed to reset the power supply because the reset was not working and I then received a boot error that told me that system files are missing or corrupt. I have had this problem before and had to reformat after a power failure reset my system.
Next I tried to reformat and reinstall Windows XP Pro and started having problems there. I am ready to start over and would like to ask for some advice or see if there is any known issues or conflicts with my setup. I also have Powerquest Drive Image and have an image from about a month ago. Do you think that it would be feasible to use it?
I am running an AMD Athlon 1700+ on a K7T Turbo2 with 768mbs Kingston PC133 Ram, 2 Maxtor 40g hard drives, 300 watt Allied PSU, Radeon 7200 32mbs Graphics card, 56k modem, Satellite internet.
    Thank you,
    Hank

I finnaly got the Athlon 1700 to work. It seems that my Cd Rom drive lens was dirty and I had the "crap in, crap out" syndrome. It was not the power supply nor the Ram, it was faukty software that was read by a CD Rom that I have not cleaned in 3 years...lol.....a recommendation, clean your components ofter.
I am yet to see the final outcome, but so far no crashes. I set up a dual boot, Win 98 and XP Pro machine now and seems to run great thus far.
I apprecate all of your help and input in this matter!
    Hank

  • K7T Turbo2 PCI Problem

    Motherboard: MSI K7T Turbo2 MS-6330 Ver5.0
    Bios: 3.6
    Chipset Driver: 4.43
    Processor: AMD 1800+ XP
    RAM: 256MB SDRAM PC133
    HDD: WD800JB 80GB
    CDROM: Generic 50x
    CDRW: Lite-On 40x12x48 LTR40125S
With Windows XP Home or Windows XP Pro, I cannot install any PCI devices. I have tried a modem, NIC and a Soundblaster live.  It sees the device, and knows what it is, but fails to install.  I have tried different PCI slots. I have tried just about every BIOS setting (and yes I disabled the integrated modem, either though there is no integrated modem) but can't figure it out.
With Windows 98SE, no problem installing PCI devices. I did use a different hard drive to test WIN98, but I don't think that would matter.
Does anyone have any ideas?  I can't seem to get through to tech support (no surprise there).
    Thanks,

Thank you for the advice, but that's not it. I did what you said.. pointed to either the CD or floppy. Even with the soundblaster, XP new it was a soundblaster and tried to install it's driver, but no luck.
I'm going to try different versions of the VIA chipset drivers today and see what happens.

  • K7T Turbo2, doesn´t show splash screen

I´ve a problem with my K7T Turbo2, when the computer starts up, it doesn´t show me the MSI logo and it´s Enabled in the BIOS, if i disable it, the same... nothing happens. It´s strange a friend of mine has the same problem with the same Motherboard.
    Please, need any help.
    Thanks

    I agree.
I think that if the board says it supports the fullscreen logo then it should when purchased.
Mine doesn't show the fullscreen logo either- I think that while it may sound trivial it is worth looking into because if a small feature like that doesn't work then I can suspect that the board is in fact at fault with my high idle temps of 55 degrees Celcius, (60 degrees loaded)
The heatsink/fan allowed 42 Degrees idle and 48 degrees loaded on my  MSI 6378 PCB 1.0. Swapping the chip again gave consistent results. The paste is generic but it was the same on the 6378 anyway so that is not the problem. The system is stable for now but I worry about the long term effect.
And if the boot logo has a bug then maybe they really didnt implement the power savings correct either - viewing it as trivial since those temps are still within AMD's spec.
I know this is just a value setup but afterall Im still a student - Elec. Eng. and craftiness at this level disgusts  so dont say why do I want my logo - Market segmentation is about less features for lowend not less quality (especially in something like a computer - data is involved). I had endless woes with my 6378 (crashing disk, screeching sound ) - imagine risking the PCB 3.0 Bios actually fixed a screeching sound issue. Go figure - MSI said that bios was not for PCB ver 1.0 and logic told me to go ahead anyway higher version usually means better code. (Of course I rationalised that mostlikely the new PCB mods were slight if only to take on the XP CPU's)
Long and short - The logo thing should be investigated especially if consistently wrong on others systems. Success in little things do add to consumer impression of a company. Dont brush this off.

  • [URGENT] MSI K7T Turbo2 patched 3.6 Problem

SORRY TO POST IT AGAIN ON THIS FORUM.. ITS QUITE URGENT
Hi! I've been using MSI K7T Turbo2 with my Athlon 1700 XP.
So far no problem with the configuration.. And I did update the BIOS to v3.6
However, when I sold the mobo to someone, who's using a Duron 700 processor, he told me that he couldn't get the system to boot. Not even see the startup BIOS screen.
After that, he tried to clear the CMOS data by jumper and tried restarted, this time everything is fine. But later he found that, with this method, he CAN ONLY BOOT ONCE. Meaning if he saved anything in BIOS, it wont be saved actually. And also after he cleared the CMOS data and reinstalled Windows, when Windows restart the PC, the same old problem occurred (cannot start PC)
As Duron is running at FSB 100MHz, he did set the jumper J17 closed (100MHz). But same problem happens. Then we suspect that it has something to do with the BIOS patch that I applied (v3.6). Could it be, after applying the bios patch (when I was using Athlon 1700 XP), the bios remembers that the processor is Athlon 1700 XP and does something (eg, removed the 100MHz feature?) that caused the motherboard now DOESN'T boot with Duron 700?
    Any suggestion?
If so, where can we find the original bios for flashing back to previous version?
    TQ!

what kind of system specs does the pc now have that he has it?  Is the heatsink mounted properly and is the fan plugged in?  I doubt the PSU should have any problem with that cpu.  How about the ram?  try swapping it out and replacing it.
I would try removing everything that isn't essential to boot into Windows. Have only the cpu, ONE stick of ram, hard drive, cdrom drive, and graphics card.  Remove modems, NICs, Raid cards, extra ram sticks, extra IDE devices, disable the onboard sound (remember that there are two values to do this with in the BIOS and both must be disabled).  Try booting then.  Then check if you can boot normally.  If so, one of the pieces of hardware you removed is the problem.  If not, something is wrong physically or in the configuration of the remaining hardware.  Give that a go.  If things go okay, plug in one piece of hardware at a time and retry.  You'll hit a snag sooner or later.
BTW, I don't think the board still thinks an athlon xp 1700+ is still in it.  In the Frequency and voltage controls, you might try setting the FSB, multiplier, and Vcore manually.

  • Installing XP Pro on MS-6330 (k7t turbo2)

Im having oodles of problems installing Xp pro (and even win 98) on my computer.  My current setup is:
    K7T Turbo2 (latest revision, with 3.5 bios)
    Athlon XP 2000+
    40 gig maxtor hd

intellimouse optical (in ps2 mode atm)
    standard keyboard
generic 512 pc 133 sdram (tested with various memory test, including mem86 or whatever that was called, hehe) no errors, works perfectly
Problems arise when installing xp pro (and xp home) when at the point where it says: starting windows ... then either it reboots, blue screens, with errors like: page fault in non page area, or usb.sys or something, so ive disabled usb, etc etc...
I already tried swapping out everrything from video to sound, etc, those tricks DO NOT WORK.  Already tried using various settings in the bios, already tried mem timings, setting agp to 4x, or 2x, auto, manual and EA, etc... nothing seems work...
The only thing that DOES work, is disabling the internal cpu cache..why? BEATS ME?!?  After its done loading hte main stuff, Im going to reinable it and see how it goes.. im tired of problems, I like the mobo, but Was having problems from the get go installing xp.. im reinstalling it now, since i was getting errors like irq_not less, that thingy there, and then stuff like ntfs error on a bsod, etc.  Installed the 4 in 1's, 442's then 443's, didnt work...psu isnt really an issue, has 220 tco, and runs fine, hard drive is not damaged, neither are the other optical drivers, and im just at my wits end.. this is really starting to tick me off..
emailed msi tech support, nothing back yet... can someone PLEAES HELP!?!?  What bios settings should i use for xp pro installs and stuff?? lemme know! Thanks!!! And should i REALLY reinstall service pack 1?  any thoughts on this??

WEll shite, now i gotta kill 98, cause now  IT aint even working...... this board sucks!  Im having more problems than a ECS mobo on a good day.
Now what, ive stuck my voodoo 3 in, and im fudgin with the settings, but quite frankly, im sick of all this, if it dont work, its going back and that pc shop is gonna fix this

  • K7t Turbo2..Do I have a bad one?

Am new to the forums and MSI, but have been building and repairing 'puters for a few. Have a new K7T Turbo2 MS 6330 bios v 3.4 My question is: Is this a bad MBO, or is it in need of a bios update or something?
THE PROBLEM: Incomplete POST, stalling with no detection of a primary master hard drive (master slave is not connected at this time). Statement at stall is hard drive failure.
    SYSTEM BUILD: K7T Turbo2 Board 6330 Bios v. 3.4, AMD Athlon 900 mHz, (3) 256K Mwave memory, 430W Antec TruePower ATX12V True 430, 40GB IBM ATA 100 7200RPM or 8GB Seagate ATA 33, 3dLabs 4x AGP 32MB VX1 Oxygen, Smartlink 10/100 NIC, onboard audio, Creative Labs 4X CDR
    NEC Zip100, Mitusmi Floppy
DIAGNOSTICS: Tested the HD and IDE 80 pin connector in another system. They were OK. Tried an old Seagate 8 GB ATA33 with no alteration in MBO response. IDE cable is connected to the MBO blue connector with the blue primary IDE connector. The first or master connector at the other end is attached to the HD. Tried HDD jumpered as a master and cable select with no alteration in response. The secondary IDE devices (CDR and Zip100) do detect in the POST. Tried disconnecting the secondary devices from power and the MBO- no alteration in response at POST. I'M STUCK
Any thoughts or suggestions on this mess?
    Sharon

HI It seems like you have pretty much covered all the bases. One other suggestion, Did you try to reset ESCD in bios? You seem to know pretty much what you are talking about. I have had both my TURBO2s for about a year now and both perfornm excellent but I am using 3.2 and 3.0 bios Escd resets the bit string and reconfigs the rig. Its located right under the Pnp line in bios just enable save and exit and try to reboot If it works, you will get a success on the bottom of the 2nd or third boot page. My older build has a WD drive going bad and once in a while I get this same no detect. When it does happen I just shut down by P/s switch.and turn it back on. You might also want to try a new cable as it don't take much for a poor connection .I hope this helps and if it don't rma the board as I don't think  you left much out could be a bios chip going bad or something about 3.4 as that was for support of a 160gb drive and may be causing you some grief. Best of Luck,BIGDADDY51 CT USA edit: What are you getting for an led message when the stall occurs ? This may help with your diagnosis.
