Broke my iphones 5s help please

Hi im alex, about 1 week ago i dropped my iphone 5s and when i picked it up there was no cracks on the front facing lcd but when tried to unlock my phone i noticed that the whole screen was black with colored lines except 1/8 of the screen. i could still recieve calls listen to music and use my phone but was extremely hard due to the fact that i can only see through 1/8. the next day i took my phone to apple and they tried to swindle me into replacing my screen but i decided to check other places before i did anything so i waited. today i was going to go get it fixed since i had time but when i tried to back up  my iphone my computer was not recognizing my phone i tried using various computers and i still had no luck. my touchscreen is no longer working i can only see black and and colored lines. i if i try to call myself my iphone will send it voicemail...my ringer stopped working today too.. will replacing the screen fix the problem or is it more serious

'Swindle you'?  More like they tried to offer you an option to pay less than the value of the device ($549 USD + tax) or the normal out-of-warranty fee ($269 USD + tax), and instead offered the less expensive screen replacement ($129 USD + tax).
But now that you've opened it, you've voided the two less expensive of those options. Now, you'll either be finding an unauthorized third-party shop to try and help, and you'll have to hope they don't swindle you, especially since they won't have legitimate or legal parts, or spend at least $549 USD + tax to get another iPhone 5S.
Oh, and be advised, Apple doesn't sell parts to anyone, so any repair shop with a 'replacement' screen is either providing you with A) a screen salvaged from another device, B) a counterfeit screen or C) a stolen part.

    If this is a new iPhone then you will have free access, as all iPhones come with it, to Apple support. I would have them take care of an issue like this.

    Change your time zones in the settings,  They are not on the same time zones.

    GIve it time. Yahoo has been have persistently random issues in past weeks. If you don't want to wait, you can try deleting and readding your account info.
    The issue is on yahoo's end and all their updates/upgrades.

I saved my iTunes library to my external hard drive right before my old mac laptop died and then tried to transfer it to my new iMac. Now when I try to play my old music it skips like a scratched cd. Also, now I can't add any music to my iPhone unless it was purchased recently through itunes and downloaded through icloud. I tried to "Organize" my library in hopes of correcting the problem but my iMac just ejects my external harddrive part way through. Please help!

    Of what did your old Mac die?
    It sounds to me like you have some file corruption somewhere.  Either in the transfer of your library to the external or the external itself is flaky if it keeps ejecting.

  • Custom ALERT TONE for iphone need HELP please.

    I understand how to create a custom TONE as an M4R file and import into itunes into the TONES library.
    When i sync my TONES to my iPhone, it lists as a RING tone.
    My custom ring tones, which are approximately 10 sec long work just fine when set as my RING tone for incoming calls.
    HOWEVER ....
    What i am DESPERATELY trying to do is create a custom ALERT tone and have it LIST as an ALERT tone in my phone and NOT a ring tone. Seems custom tones do not work for sms alerts.
    I searched EVERYWHERE and can not seem to find an answer. I realize apple wants us all to BUY alert tones, but i should be able to create my own too no?
    I created some custom alert tones, approximately 1 sec long each. Converted them to M4R files and sync'd them to my phone.
    In my phone they appear under the RING TONES list and not ALERT TONES.
    Maybe this dosent matter, however, when i try to set my TEXT ALERT SOUND to one of my custom ALERT tones, they do NOT work. My text messages come in without playing the sound.
    Can ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME figure out how to properly create a TONE as an ALERT TONE for my iphone?

    I've never been able to assign custom tones under alerts.  It doesn't matter though as you can assign ringtones as alerts as of iOS 5 I believe.  I had a similar issue with silent alerts, sometimes they would play, other times theywouldn't, but they would always play when selecting them under settings.  Resetting all settings (not content) has so far fixed that issue for me.  Try resetting your settings after you've synced your tones.

I've been backing it up pretty regularly, but almost exclusively to iCloud (I now realize I should have been backing it up to my computer and iCloud regularly...). I have an old regular iPhone 4, that I downloaded iOS7 to, but I'm having trouble restoring any iPhone 5 backups to my old iPhone. I restored my iPhone 4 to factory settings then downloaded iOS 7 to my iPhone 4 and am given the option to restore the last backup of the iPhone 4 (from MONTHS ago) to this device, but cannot find the option to restore my iPhone 5 backups??? My last backup to my iphone 5 is large (a little over 11.6 GB), but still smaller than my iPhone 4 capacity...
    How can I restore my last iPhone5 backup to my iPhone 4? Can I partially restore from iCloud (i've been reading that this would have been easier if I had backed up directly to my macbook)? What programs can I use to do this?
    ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! I don't need everything that was lost on that phone (I had TOO many photos) but certain messaging conversations and notes I definitely need.
    Please let me know if you can help but need more info!

    I erased my iPhone and went through the set up and tried to restore to iCloud but didn't get the option to restore to my iPhone 5 backup (only iPhone 4 backups--I assumed because erasing my phone and going to factory settings meant back to iOS6) so I went through with just factory settings. (I did all of this on my phone, not on my computer/iTunes as my backups are saved onto iCloud) I then signed into my iCloud account on my phone and went to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage then I can see the following
    If I click on my iPhone5 (the first one) I see this
    I can delete the backup, but how do I restore it to that last backup from yesterday??

  • Restoring iTunes from Time Machine after losing data on iPhone. Help please

    I updated my iPhone 5S to the latest 7.0.5 today but for some reason it wiped my iPhone and I had to restore from an iTunes backup. However I then realised the last time I made a backup to my computer was 3 months ago, so when it restored it was only correct upto 3 months ago. All my SMS messages in that time has disappeared plus photos and old conversations I had stored on my Skype app. Strangely notes I had made in the "notes app" were still up to date?
    I then tried to restore from iCloud however it made a new backup in the meantime so also has a backup of my iPhone as it was 3 months ago.
    I do have an Iomega Ego backup drive plugged into my Mac Mini so Time Machine does back up my Mac Mini every hour.
    So my question is, can I restore iTunes as it was before I updated my iPhone to 7.0.5? Will that bring back all my old text/SMS messages, photos etc..? Or will it not work as I have now updated my iPhones to the latest OS?
    If it does work how do I actually restore iTunes, are their particular files I need to pick and is there a risk with doing this? For example will it cause conflict issues on my Mac Mini and iPhone.
    Apologies for all the questions, never had this happen before and I'm a bit relucatant to try it just in case I do something wrong.

    I have a Mac Mini running Mavericks and an iPhone 5S that now has the very latest update 7.0.5.

    If you don't have a backup of your iPhone that you made with iTunes right before you updated to 7.0.5, then you can't restore your iPhone from that backup. You can't restore from a backup that you don't have.
    Notes.app is synced via iCloud, so that's why you still have it. Music on your phone syncs via iTunes.
    If you have your music in iTunes on your Mac, then all you need to do is select the music you want on your phone and then sync your phone via iTunes (either with a USB cable connecting your phone to your mac, or via iTunes wifi sync).
    If that music is in your external HD backup, but not in your Mac, you have to move it from the backup to iTunes in your Mac.

    just got back from holiday and after a week have big iphone 4 problems....

    since getting back from vacation windows 7 HP has been updated to SP1 with some auto updates which i didn't much notice but may be at the root of this problem (and, if they are, then i am mad as **** with microsoft, naturally).
    after this, i found that my phone worked fine but it had lost access to all of its itunes content i.e. no music, no videos.  my contacts, photos, apps all seemed to be ok.
    in the iphone window in itunes, and also in the iphone settings app, it showed that all of my music / videos were still there, i just could not access it / play it / see it through ipod app.
    so, i tried  few options from the web, basic stuff, to try to help the iphone remember its loaded content.  no luck.
    so, i decided to hit restore.  first time it got stuck on 'restoring iphone software", no more than 10% of the way through.
    i had to unplug it.
    i turned the iphone off, shut-down and restarted the PC and tried again.  same thing.  i am now on my third attempt at this, but nothing is making any difference.  when i plug it in it does recognise it and goes through steps like "verifying restore with iphone update server", "extracting software", etc, so it does know it is connected.  it just cannot get past this point.
    any suggestions on how to fix this would be very much welcome.
