Broke my screen do i lose my data if send for repair?
Hi everyone, on friday my screen broke and i took it for a repair. Unfortunately i later realised that i havent backed up my phone the last 2 months.
The techguy said they MIGHT wipe the phone clean but i cant afford loosing my data. Is this true are they going to erase everything, i have passode lock enabled.
Is it not possible to install the new screen without formating? if not what should i do?
I read here that with an adapter i can hook up a mouse and use the phone for backup is that true?
Please let me know so i can recall the techguy before they mess with it.

Is there any way to connect my 2011 macbook pro to my PC laptop (Dell) so that I can get files off of the Mac? The display on the pro is out and I've got a black screen. The computer turns on. Actually it turned on one time after many tries and when I took it the Mac store the guy hit restart before I could stop him. I don't have another Mac to back up files to in restart 7 mode and I can't see my external hard drive to copy to when the computer has no display, so I am at a loss on how to get the files. I would like to get them before I send in for repairs. Any suggestions are appreciated.
The only other thing I can think of is to pull the drive out and hook it to another machine with a USB enclosure. Something like this:

Lose draft after selecting Send for Review
I am running Contribute CS4 and CPS. We have approx 12 websites that we manage with Contribute, all PC's are running Windows XP. I recently sent a non-Contribute user a draft and noticed something very strange. After selecting the 'Send e-mail with a link to preview the draft' option, my email window popped up, the URL was sent (in the email) but when I went back to the draft and either tried to save it or edit it (which Contribute typically permits you to do), I received the message 'You can't perform this action on this draft. The draft is invalid because a lock has been broken and another instance might have already acted on this draft. Contribute will remove this invalid draft from your machine.'. I am set-up as Admin and this has never happened before. The draft is completely gone from seeing it via Contribute (I can locate it by going to the server but my users will never have this option). Why is this happening? I have spent eight hours troubleshooting and not making any progress. Thank you in advance
Hi Krishna, we cannot ask our clients to do this, although I appreciate the work-around you are offering. We will probably consider using CS5. I understand this bug (per Adobe) is fixed in CS5. Thank you.

The steps I was indicating was:
1. Create a web page/Edit a web page.
2. Make some changes.
3. Send the web page to review by e-mail.
4. When you switch back to Contribute, select a different draft you were editing or switch to browse mode and then select the draft which you had sent to review by e-mail again.
5. Now, can you try Publish or Save for Later or any other operation.
The thing is, you have to do selecting of different draft or switching to browser after sending the mail and switching back to Contribute (Note: Before you try to Publish or Save for Later or do any other operation, try switching to another draft and back, or, switching to browse mode and back).
If this does not work, try quitting and launching Contribute once, and then, try the above steps, and check whether you are losing the draft.

You can't backup the iPod t iTunes then. You will have to use an existing iTunes backup.
If iCloud backup is turned on and the iPod is still working (not disabled), the iPod will automatically backup daily if an internet connection is available and the iPod is connected to a charging source. -

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary. -
I changed my Apple ID but my iCloud didn't change to the new ID. If I delete the old iCloud will I lose all data on my iPod ?
- Go to Settings>iCloud. Scroll to to bottom of the screen and tap the delete button. The effect all the services listed in Settings>iCloud like Notes, Contact and Calendar.
- You may be offered the option to retain that data on the iPod. Otherwise it gets deleted.
It does not effect synced media like apps and music purchased with the account..
Note that purchases made with an Apple ID are locked to the ID that purchased them. To update apps you have to sing into the account that purchased them -
I tried to update my iPad to iOS 7.0.2. and all I have now is screen asking to be connected to iTunes. Message tells me iPad is in 'recovery mode' and recommends 'restore' but that I would lose all data as this would restore factory settings. Any suggestions?
Apple helpline is 'not taking calls at this time'!!!Your data is already gone. Why did you not take regular backups of your data? Now you know why you should.

If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?

Race conditions - can you actually lose the data in memory?
I've seen posts where a race condition can actually destroy the contents of a global memory. I understand about not getting the right information if your read just beats your write, but can it actually lose the data altogether? This would mean you have to semaphore every time you write to a global if you have something polling on it to guarantee the data doesn't get lost. I've never seen this in any example programs - its hard to believe!
I think the idea is merely that when you write to a global (or any)
variable the previous contents are overwritten. If you intended to read the
global before the write but the write ends up happening first then you lose.

my daughters ipod 4th gen will no longer charge past 20% and will not connect to a pc in order to back everything up. the cable is working fine, otherwise it would not even charge to the 20%. i have tried the reset to not lose any data and no luck, home+power for 10-15 seconds. I really would like to not lose everything she has, again, because I can't back it up this time. I have tried charging via a wall outlet and PC and both charge fine, just only to 20%. I am using the cable that came with it so no aftermarket issues there. Please help so I don't have to reset everything again.
Because once it has charged enough to be powered on as soon as you turn it on it says battery is at 20% and will not charge anymore after that, it just runs for about 5-10 minutes before the battery dies again. The battery cycles discharge/recharge daily and its not on the charger at full charge for more than a couple hours and is never totally dead for more than a couple of hours.
