Broken 256 Muvo tx

Arrrgggg.......Jsut when I wanted to use it too.
If you own one you know how it splits apart so you can plug it into your computer. Well it seems the USB connecter is the problem. Ive only split it apart a couple of times too add songs, so Its a factory defect which sucks becasue I needed it this weekend. I guess It has to go in for warrenty, Lucky Ive only owned it since christmas. Its my favorite MP3 player so I dont want to give up on it. Ive had an Ipod literally explode on me, and a Iri'ver with a defecti've battery, So far this one has been the best sounding, best quality and best price with enough room for all of my favorite songs.

The flash players are all very easy to use, we have a few different ones, it's best to look at the product pages to see which you prefer. In roughly the same pricerange as the TX 256, we also have the MuVo TX FM 256, the MuVo Micro 256MB, or if you want to spend a little more (and have more storage), there are larger capacity versions of each of the above, and the Zen Nano (52MB or GB), Zen Nano Plus (52MB or GB), MuVo Sport C00 256MB and MuVo Slim (256MB or 52MB).

  • Backlight broken on Muvo S

    Hi All,
The backlight doesn't work on my Muvo Slim. This is my 2nd one, the first one's backlight also didn't work
On both of them, I upgraded to the latest firmware (..03) so that I could format with FAT32 and enable cue\review, however, I think that the firmware may have damaged the backlight.
I emailed tech support, and they say that the firmware would not have damaged the backlight, and to return the player. I have a hard time believing that I got 2 defecti've Muvo Slims, that both lost their backlighting after I installed the firmware.
So, anybody else experience this too? Are there any fixes?
I would like to try re-loading the firmware that it came with to see if that helps, but it's not available on the website.
Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? ( not to state the obvious, but the backlighting IS NOT OFF, it's on 5 sec)
    Thanks.
EDIT: OK, I downloaded the UK firmware, which has the same version number, but the .exe's filename had a - at the end. Don't know if they are the same. Anyway, after the firmware updated, I unplugged the player from the PC, and it turned on by itslef (like usual) and the backlight wasn't on. I went to the menu, turned it off, and shut the player off. I then turned the player back on, went to the menu and turned the backlight back on, and IT WORKS!!!Message Edited by saber_pv on 04-23-2005 07:53 PM

I don't think you can. You can only skip by track. I'm not sure if there's a skip folder function on the Slim, but the manual should confirm either way.

  • Dead muvo

I have a 52 Muvo tx that just quit playing and displayed "no music". I also have a 256 Muvo tx fm that I use as well. It has no problems so that should eliminate my computer, files, etc. as the problem. Once the 52 was plugged in and I had a look I saw that my music was still there and it would play through the computer. I deleted all the music and reformated. Although it was reformatted it would not load. No matter how many times I reformatted and the format seemed to take, but later I would check and it was not formatted. I am formatting in FAT. I went into the troubleshooting. The player will not reset and it will not go into recovery. I can't try reloading the firmware as it has to be in recovery to do so. I have only had it for a couple of months now but it was a refurb. I imagine I am just out of luck but this forum seems to be very knowledgeable so I am giving it a try. Thanks for any help.

  • Help...My motherboard is eating my memory!

I built the below computer a few years ago.  A year or so after building it, it  began to crash.  While working, I would get a blue screen full of type flashed at me followed by the computer restarting.  The screen would flash so fast that I never could read what the error message was.
This crashing and rebooting continued.  I decided that the error could be due to my power system being faulty.  So I purchased the Antec power supply listed below.  That didn’t help and the crashes continued.
One day, while looking at system properties, I noticed that it only listed 512 megs of system memory instead of the 768 megs that I had installed (three 256 slots).
By trial and error, I figured out which of the three memory cards had gone bad.  I then bought a new 256 and installed it.  Everything was fine for a week or two but soon the crashing started to happen again and the memory in that same slot went bad (the new one).
I decided that this must be due to a bad motherboard.  I contacted MSI and asked them to RMA it.  They agreed and sent me a new motherboard (same model).
I took this opportunity to upgrade my ram and replaced the “broken” 256 with a new 512.
I installed the two 256 and one 512 memory cards and booted the system up.
My computer has run great for the past year (or so).  Now am getting the same crashes.  Again the bluescreen with writing on it appears too fast to read, followed by an automatic reboot.  According to “System Properties” I still have 1 Gig of memory (so far).
Unfortunately, I don’t have the specs on my memory.   I do know that it was what was recommended.  Is there something wrong with this motherboard?  Have others had similar problems?
    Please help!

Would I do that in the Bios? How much to increase?
Yepp, in bios. Normal voltage is 2.5V so I would suggest to increase it up to 2.6V in the first step. 2.7V should be possible without danger for your ram too.

    Won't boot.
Maybe faulty disk? Try another one.

  • Few Questions From A New

what's up? new creative user, just jumped on board in april with a Muvo Micro N200 GB and bought my little sis a 256 Muvo TX FM. I just have a few questions for the experienced users.
. What's the point of the Zen Micro? Spend 80 bucks on a 5 GB player when you can buy a 20GB player for around 200 (Zen Xtra), what sense does it make?
    2. Why doesn't the zen touch come in 60GB capacity like the XTRA?
    3. Why is the Touch soo much more expensi've than the Xtra?
    4. Why are people still buying ipods when creative is >>> the ipod in almost every way? Show me an ipod with 20 gigs that can hold 0,000 songs, FM radio, voice recorder, and with a 24 hour battery life.
    5. why is Cnet.com sooo biased towards the ipod?
    6. WHERE is the zen sleek available? I checked amazon.com - not there.
    7. what's the difference between the muvo micro n200 and the zen nano plus that I've seen in walmart? features are the same.
    8. Why doesn't creative include some REAL headphones with their mp3 players instead of those pieces of feces that they come with now? After spending 300 for a 40 gig zen touch, I deserve some decent headphones!
dang, didn't realize I had soo many questions.

Okay, let me give this a try:
. Simple - the Micro is smaller. For many folks, convenience and portability are more important than capacity. Try fitting an Xtra in your front pocket.
    2. Again, it's a size issue. The Touch uses a single-platter .8 inch dri've. In any player the bulk of the space is taken up by the dri've and the battery. bigger dri've=bigger player. The Touch was designed to compete with the itty-bitty Ipod.
    3. The Touch is a newer model that incorporates the whole "touch" interface. Newer things are almost always more expensi've.
    8. No company provides decent headphones with their player. Have you ever heard Apple's headphones? Part of this is cost, and part of it is that for many people, especially audiophiles, headphone choice is very personal. It is akin to why most bikes don't come with pedals.

  • Muvo NX 256 no longer recognised by Windows and no recovery m

My Muvo NX 256 (firmware .0..07) has been working fine for months, until it intermittently failed to appear as a dri've when plugging it into a PC. Now, it always fails to connect. I've tried on different Windows XP PCs, so it's not a USB port issue. The player works fine standalone, but I cannot transfer any tracks to it.
I've tried to access recovery mode to use the "connect to PC" functionality, with no success:
    - holding "menu" while inserting the battery does not do anything
    - holding "play" while inserting the player in a USB port simply starts the player, and it still doesn't appear under Windows
    Any advice?
    Thanks

If recovery mode doesn't work then the player is faulty unfortunately. If you're still under warranty, contact Creative Support (although you can still contact them for an out of warranty repair).

  • Creative MuVo TX 256 and I-trigue 3

Hi, i recently purchased a creative i-trigue 3500 and i already own a muvo tx 256. I was lookin forward to using the M-port on the I-trigue to play music, but when i plug the USB part into the Mport and start the device, no music =(
The speakers themselves works fine and looks even better, but im quite bummed about the Mport not working with my player. I looked at the manual and it said it supports muvo NX. Kinda dumb for creative to make a new speaker system to support an older muvo and not the new one <IMG height=6 src="http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-sad.gif" width=6 border=0>
I updated my muvo TX with the .0.05 firmware and still nothing.
Im really hoping that someone can help me out here.
    Thanks much

    mickie,
The MuVo TX does not work with the M-Port. At this moment, only the MuVo NX is compatible with the M-Port feature.

  • Major problems with Creative Nomad MuVo NX (256 MB)

Hello, I recently brought a Creative Nomad MuVo NX (256 MB) it hasn?t been more than two months and I?m already having problems with the MP3 player. This is a little hard to explain but, the headphone jack (where the headphones connect to the player) whenever it moves (to the left, right, up, or down) the sound dies, or gets very staticy. There is no way I can play music this way, as the connection moves a lot. Is there anyways I can fix this? I hear that Creative will replace my product if it'ss withen 90 days. I also have proof of purchase, and original retail box materials.

obiant, this has been a problem frequently with some older models of the Zen Extra, although I have not heard of this in a Nomad Muvo. What happened with the Zen Extra is the headphone Jack was just soldered on to the motherboard with nothing to hold it on. After awhile the soldering job on the jack would loosen and sometimes break off. After a awhile creative then added a piece of plastic to keep the soldering from loosing. This may be you problem and if it is I?m surprised that creative would make that mistake twice. You should email Creative tech support to see what they think, they can also arrange to have the player sent to them for repairs.
I hope you get it working or fixed.

  • My Creativ MuVo TX FM is broken. Please help

My Creativ MuVo TX FM's USB Plug has broken apart. I mean it is seperated from the main player. Its an accident and I do know that the usual warranty does not apply to my device as of now. Can any one help me out with this problem. I li've in India, Bangalore. The player is just 3 months old and I still do have the vendor bill and warranty card. How can I get it repaired and how much will it cost. If I have to ship it to tech, how can I transfer all the data before that? Please help me out!

    Hi,
That's pretty sucky luck. I feel for your situation out there, it just looks more scary by the day
This may or may not work, but worth a try I guess. I have a TX SE (no radio, think that's about the only difference). There was new firmware available so I downloaded and ran the program from Creative. Something went wrong with the process and I was left with a 'dead' player which wouldn't switch on, and Windows didn't 'see' when I plugged it in.
In desperation I tried re-running the firmware installer program, and to my joy it saw the player (even though Windows could not!) and completed the upgrade perfectly and the player worked fine.
Even if you already had the newest firmware loaded, download it and try using it. Nothing to lose by trying...

  • Muvo Tx 256 and Track Reversal prob

I have this nagging problem with my Muvo. I will take folders of music, audiobooks etc. and drag and drop them onto it. On my pc, they are in proper order. On the Muvo, however, sometimes they are in proper order, but more often the entire folder is in exact opposite order of what they should be. Therefore I have to play the last track first and continually back up in order to hear things as they should be. Not so bad with music, but with books it's an absolute nightmare. Any ideas what could be causing this? Solutions?
    Thanks in advance....
