Broken 5s glass, sell for parts, end contract, pay ETF, add new line?

Broken screen on 5s. Touch works, but glass is shattered. Contract with ATT (6 weeks into it).
Is it an option to sell the phone as is, end my contract with ATT, pay the ETF, and then add a new line?
Assuming I can do this, it will be cheaper than doing an Apple OOW repair, which is $270 at the moment. New 5s at Best Buy currently $150. Even with the new activation fee, I should be ahead.

You're assuming, though that they're going to let you sign a new 2 year contract after terminating yours after less than 2 months. They may not do that without a security deposit. You may want to make sure first. Otherwise, you might be finding yourself paying full retail for a new phone.
This is one situation where I might actually encourage you to look into buying salvaged parts on line and trying to repair it yourself or finding a 3rd party repair shop and seeing if they can fix it for you. I don't normally do that, but compared to trying to sell it for parts...

  • How to add new line item using BAPI BAPI_CONTRACT_CHANGE for contract-ME32K

    HI Experts,
how to add new line item using BAPI: BAPI_CONTRACT_CHANGE for existing contract.
    Requirement:
Already the contract having two line items using ME31K.
Custom program has to add new line items in existing contract.
    Thanks,
    Sendil

    I got the solution:
    We can do like this:
    1. Get all details using details, BAPI_CONTRACT_GETDETAIL.
    2. After getting results, append new line item. Then use your BAPI.
Check this posting program.. where this bapi is used, use the same coding technique.

  • I've read that Promise Pegasus2 series does not sell replacement parts. I'm buying the new MacPro but am concerned about spending $2K for storage that may break and cannot be fixed. What are others buying for storage for the new MacPro?

I've read that Promise Pegasus2 R6 thunderbolt 2 series does not sell replacement parts (no replacement parts for any of the Pegasus line). I'm buying the new MacPro but am concerned about spending $2K for storage (12tb version) that may break and cannot be fixed (am told that one must purchase a new unit if a part breaks). What are others buying for storage for the new MacPro? Thanks so much for your help.
Discussion about this issue at MacWorld.com:  http://www.macworld.com/article/2082783/first-look-promises-pegasus2-r6-thunderb olt-2-raid-array.html

I've used the original Pegasus R6 units for a couple of years now and have been very pleased with them.  On the two occasions I've had to call on their technical sujpport, I've found them readily available, knowledgeable, and very helpful.  In one case it involved the reset of a unit after a power failure at an inopportune time; in the other case it was a question about upgrading disk drives to higher capacities (1 Gb gto 4 Gb).  I was pleased to learn that their tech support people were in California and as good if not better than upper-tier AppleCare reps. The hardware itself has functioned flawlessly so far.

  • Contract Release Strategy - Adding New Line

I have a question regarding Contract Release Strategy - How can i force a release reset if a new line is added to the contract. I dont see a field in CEKKO - Any suggestions?

    Hi
Version mangement is activated with Version Zero only. When you select Version 0 Ok
If you have selected this indicator, version '0', which is generated automatically when a purchase requisition or external purchasing document is created, is automatically flagged by the system as Completed.
If version '0' is completed automatically, the system does not check whether the version data includes any mandatory fields.
If you have not selected the indicator, version '0' must be manually flagged as Completed.
Only if this indicator has been selected for the current version:
Can a requisition be converted into a PO (for example)
    Does the release procedure commence
    Thanks & Regards

  • My Mac has broken and I want to sell it for parts. How can I be sure that my personal data that is/was on the hard drive is safe?

My 2006 MacBook Pro has broken. There is a little bit of drive noise when I turn it on, but then nothing happens. It is no big deal. Most of my files were backed up. There are a few files I would like to recover if possible, but nothing worth a major effort.
I have seen that broken MacBook Pro's go for about $300 on eBay for parts, so I would like to sell the MacBook Pro. However, I only want to do that after I am sure that my personal data is wiped out. Does anyone know how I can accomplish that? Does anyone know of an easy way to search the old hard drive for some of the data that I lost? Can a Genius Bar take care of this stuff for me (and how much do they charge?)?
    Thank you for your help.

The ONLY real secure way to be sure that noone may recover data from your drive is, to remove the drive, and drill one or two 1" holes thru the disk.
A bit less secure but useful way is, to wipe out the data with a tool that's overwrite all sectors of the drive with randomized data in multiple runs.
    For example: Permanent Ereaser http://www.edenwaith.com/products/permanent%20eraser/
Independent tests bring out, that even specialized recovery companies with forensic tools are unable to find useful data after such a run.

There are some recovery tools out there to fit your needs, e.g. MacKeeper http://mackeeper.zeobit.com/mac-data-recovery

  • How to sell a Macbook Pro for parts

I would like to sell my 17" Macbook Pro online somewhere (ebay, maybe?) for parts. It received some water (wine) damage and will not boot up at all, but the logic board is fine. I want to keep my hard drive. How does this process work exactly? Do I disassemble the computer in order to sell? How do I market it on Ebay or whatever to make it sell for the highest price, while still being completely honest? It is completely new to me, but I am a photojournalism major and desperately need a functioning mac. I am hoping that selling this one will bring a bit of money in to contribute to buying a replacement.

Do what you want with it.

First, see this:  http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/howtosell/sellingbasics.html then don't lie in your item listing.

  • I am selling my broken Macbook for parts, how can I erase my old hard drive without the computer working?

I destroyed my Macbook in a car accident and have found somebody to buy it for parts. To be safe I want to make sure the Hard Drive is void of all personal information before I hand it over. What are my options?

they do sell them at best buy.  I just went to the best buy website and searched for "external enclosure".  Make sure it is 2.5" as that is the size of laptop hard drives, not 3.5" as that is to hold desktop hard drives.

  • Selling broken iPhone 5 for parts - is it locked?

I don't know if this is a dumb question or someone just trying to rip me off, but I need to ask.
I broke my phone and had trouble erasing my data.  I was able to get the DFU Mode restore to do the trick and am now trying to sell it for parts only.  A potential buyer is asking me if the phone is iCloud locked and gave me what seemed to be a lowball offer.  Anyway, I thought selling it for parts would avoid any need to worry about it being unlockable or not?  I did remove it from my cloud account... but I guess I can't guarantee the phone is good to go.  I had a lot of issues trying to perform a backup cause it was locked and I couldn't punch in the password with the destroyed screen... and I couldn't restore it cause it said I needed to turn off 'Find My Phone'.
So with all that being said, I am slightly concerned it is still iCloud locked even though I did remove it from my cloud.  Does being locked in the cloud matter?  Or being locked at all?  ... for a phone sold for parts?

You need to fully erase the device in order to turn off Find My iPhone. You can do it by going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings, or you can do it via iCloud using Find My iPhone to erase the device. You need to follow these steps to remove yourself from the device:
Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
If you think that you have turned off Find My iPhone on the device, you can test it this way:
How do I check for Activation Lock before purchasing a used device?
When purchasing an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from someone other than Apple or an authorized Apple reseller, it is up to you to ensure that the device has been erased and is no longer linked to the previous owner’s account.
Follow each of these steps to make sure that you can use the device you purchase:
Turn the device on and slide to unlock.
If the passcode lock screen or the home screen appears, the device has not been erased. Ask the seller to completely erase the device by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been erased.
    Begin the device setup process.
After choosing a language, choosing a country, and connecting to a network, the device will begin activation. If you are asked for the previous owner’s Apple ID and password, the device is still linked to their account. Hand the device back to the seller and ask them to enter their password. If the previous owner is not present, they can remove the device from their account by signing in to icloud.com/find. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been removed from the previous owner’s account.
You will know that a device is ready for you to use when you are asked to “Set up your iPhone", “Set up your iPad", or “Set up your iPod” during the device setup process.
The full explanation of the Activation Lock (which the buyer is referring to as the iCloud lock) is in the link below:
iCloud: Find My iPhone Activation Lock in iOS 7
