Broken asset in project...

I'm creating a relatively full DVD (4.1GB, 98 minutes, best quality). It contains a handful of movies, and then thousands of pictures split up among a number of slideshows.
When I click Burn, I get an errr message:
"There appears to be a broken asset in your project. Correct this problem before burning this project."
It then kindly offers to open the DVD map, which I then look at. And, as far as I can tell, it looks completely normal. I even paged through everything in the Media section of the Info window, and every item has a checkmark in the Status column.
Is there any other way to figure out what asset it thinks is bad?

I was having the same issues. I started looking through the slideshow assets and saw some .psd files. Thought that might be the problem so I deleted them. Still had the error message about broken assets. Then saw a picture (the DVD was all slideshows) that didn't have a check by it in the project info and so I deleted it. Same problem.
Saw the post about deleting preferences and tried it. Seems to have worked just fine.

I've seen this question asked before but I've been unable to find a solution that works. I am using iDvd6. After creating my project in iMovie, I shared it with iDvd. I then added a slide show and some music. Before burning to disc I "save as disc image". However when I click "file" and "save as disc image", the error says that I have a "broken asset" in my project and need to fix it before continuing.
The DVD map shows no errors. I even deleted the iDVD project completely and started it again by going back to iMovie and sharing to iDvd, but I still get the same error. I even deleted the file "com.apple.idvd.." (I forget exactly) as someone recommended and restarted iDvd, and still no luck. The irony is that I have already done 8 different projects successfully (iMovie to iDvd to image burn to disc burn), but this one has me stumped as I can't find any errors to repair. Any help would be much appreciated.

1. I don't ever use "Share/Export to iDVD" from within iMovie. It renders and
destroys.
I drop my movie icon (with a Star on it) into the open iDVD theme window)
iDVD do the redering and so much better.
2. Deleting the pref file is always a good start:
iDVD
-->/Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iDVD.plist
3. Free space on internal hard disk should read about 20 - 25Gb free.
4. I would start a new account / log into this / re-do the iDVD project but
this time by dropping in the movie icon.

• What material was used (Video Codec, and file formats of other materisal used)
• Edited in what program AND version
• How was it transfered to iDVD
• What was Your selections in iDVD

It means that iDVD has found a problem with one of the movies added to the project. Did you edit the movie after it had been added to the project.
Create a new project and add your assets, movies, slides, etc. again and follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

Broken assets driving me insane

I have an iDVD 08 project that I have checked and rechecked for the past two days. Everything appears fine and functions within the project. When I load, it lists a missing file which I no longer need or have in the project. When I go to burn, it says: The following warnings and errors were found during the validation of the current project:
- There appears to be a broken asset in your project. Correct this problem before burning this project. I can't fix it, because I can't see or find the problem!! PLEASE HELP. THanks so much

Welcome to the forums.
Broken assets can be audio, video, or still images. Usually it means the asset was moved to a different hard drive location. It can be messy to fix, even if you move the asset back.
It appears you recognize the file. Can you add it back in and then delete it? If not, tell us something about the file and how you were using it (menu audio, a draft slideshow, etc.).

Broken assets; Events in iPhoto

I recently completed a project on iDVD 08 which involved slideshows exported from iPhoto.
I then tidied up my Events (but did not delete any photos from my iPhoto library), merging and renaming some events.
On reloading the DVD project, I have a list of broken assets; photos that cannot be found. Has the renaming of the events caused this? Is there a quicker solution that to start again?

OK, what seemed insoluble last night took about 2 minuted to solve this morning with a clear head.
I just clicked on "Find file", used the spotlight box to locate the file and iDVD did the rest.

My guess is you have moved, renamed, or deleted a pice of media iDVD is looking for. As example, if you are using an JPEG, filename 1234 within iDVD. To complete the project iDVD needs that image. If you have moved it, deleted it, or renamed it, iDVD can't find it.
I think this shows the problem (but I didn't watch the whole)....

And if You change view - in main "window/view field" so that You see the box-plot structure.
No exclamation marks there either ?
and non at the front page ?
iDVD do not copy Your material - only points to where it is stored. So if on any external hard disks, USB-memories, CDs or DVDs are missing - assetts are broken.
Or if You changed location of any material or directed iPhoto or iTunes or GarageBand to a new Library - Then iMovie/iDVD also get's lost.

AP invoices, assets and Project Costing

Hello:
We have a business environment where some invoices constitute a single asset. As a result we would like to avoid the overhead of creating assets and processing these assets that are comprised of a single invoice through Projects (capital projects screen).
We would like to have these invoices associated with a Project, Task, Expenditure Type, Org but instead route these invoices into mass additions instead of routing them through projects.
I belive that the Concurrent process called "Mass Additions Create Program" automatically routes any invoice that has been associated with a project directly into projects and does not allow the option of having these routed to mass additions.
My question is this. Is there any alternative here? Project Costing is forcing us to route these single invoice assets though Projects. Are there any other options or ideas or do we just have to live with this short-coming?

I guess the only shortcoming is if you are trying to run these one line assets into a Capital Project rather than an Indirect or Contract Project. For in the case of the latter, your intended behaviour is certainly acheivable without having to resort to a workaround.
However, if you're trying to send these one line assets from AP into PA to a CAPITAL Project, as well as from AP into FA, your stuck. The system will not allow you to push to FA from AP if the line is also going to a Capital Project and the line is distributed to an Asset Clearing Account "CIP Account".
The manual is a little confusing on this point, but I am certain that for the Mass Additions Create program to pick up a line from AP and move it to FA, the line must have a CIP account designation if it is distributed to a Project. Thus, if the Project is also a Capital Project it can't be done because of the above outlined restiction.
There was a little bolt-on developed a few years back in the TeleCom vertical at Oracle which automated the creation of the Assets from within the Capital Project as telecom companies experienced similar overhead issues with having to "manually" define and move assets out of a Capital Project into FA.

Embedding connect asset (captivate project) in web page

How do I reference a Connect address (asset) such as from the Connect server that don't end in an html file using the embed command in html so that the content shows on my web page?
a.    I tried the flash object and movie in dreamweaver CS3 but I couldn’t get it to work.
b.    If I upload the swf files to the same server as the web page I can use the embed command to push the swf files on a web page. I bypass the html page that makes the plugin announce a security warning.
c.    If I do that the FLVs don’t play using Captivate 3 on an http server.
d.    My Captivate projects works when I play the URL from the Connect Server and the FLVs play but I can’t embed them in a web page. Can I see some sample code.

Thank you for your response, this was helpful, however the problem remains as to how the video is seen in the frame. Unless I specify a height for the iframe, (which I don't want to do as it need to be responsive) the height of the captivate project has huge borders, margins which I can't seem to get rid of when it is part of an iframe?

Empty iViews in PLM Business Packages (Enter Asset, Enter Project etc)

Hi All,
We are implementing SAP PLM Business Packages 50.3.1 in SAP EP 6.0 SP16 with a SAP 4.7 backend.
We have noticed that certain iViews do not seem to work correctly - they display no entry fields at all. For instance, in the Assets Business Package, the Asset Details Page contains a Choose Asset iView in which you can choose either Functional Location or Equipment. When choosing either of these, the Enter Asset iView should refresh and display the appropriate entry field. ie. either 'Enter Functional Location' or 'Enter Equipment'. Instead, it displays absolutely nothing (ie. the Enter Asset iView remains blank). This problem also occurs for projects in the Projects business package.
Has anybody seen and resolved this behaviour for the PLM business packages?
Any useful thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated and rewarded.

Thanks for the responses. Thanks to your input, I have solved the problem. Basically, we are working on copied versions of the pages and iViews (ie. copied into our custom folder in PCD). Our users do not have access to the original SAP iViews.
I noticed (after reading the documentation page 116 which you referenced), that for our copy of the component loader, the parameter Java_IView_Directory was still pointing to the standard SAP location, which our users have no access to. This explains why the iViews are blank. When I amend this parameter to point to our custom location, everything works!

Duplicating timelines (not assets) makes project HUGE!?!...

Hi all,
I don't do much authoring, so forgive my niavety...
I am working on a DVD where the client wants a play all button and then 7 individual chapters that when played come back to the menu after each one...
Now, what I usually do is encode the whole programme in it's entirety>import as timeline and use that for Play all. I then usually encode each separate section and import each of them as separate timelines..blah, blah, blah. This means double the encoding time and obviously double the amount of encoded video on the disc = more space taken up.
After a bit of a read in Encore 2.0 I tried a new workflow; whereby I encode the entire programme in one go, but put chapter points in Premiere. I then import ONCE as an asset and add that same bit of footage to different timelines with diff out points to go back to the menu.
This works great and means less encoding...only problem is that Encore seems to duplicate the asset's file size each time I add it to a new timeline. Hence my 30 minute programme is now an 18GB project!?!
Is this right, or is there a way around this? It seems crazy that it duplicates the file size, as all Encore is doing is reusing the same bit of media in several different ways..
Any thoughts guys?

Well OK, but how do you get a playlist of chapter playlist to do what the writer was asking. Namely,have one timeline (lets say it just has one .avi in it) and a Menu that will either play the entire .avi and then return to the menu OR go to specific chapters but return to the menu after playing each chapter instead of playing all the way to the end?
I see how you can do this using two timelines of the same .avi and I was under the impression ENCORE would not write the converted .avi twice onto the DVD, but evidently you are saying it will...which doubles the size of the project on DVD. Therefore the only thing you really save by doing this on 2 timelines is you only have to transcode the file once. But you still end up with two versions of the mpg on the DVD.
So the question is, you have one .avi You have a menu that has a button "Play entire movie," and another submenu to play specific chapters. And if you go to the submenu and select a specific chapter, you want it to go back to the submenu after just playing that specific chapter instead of continuing all the way to the end. If you set an end action for each chapter to go back to the submenu, then you can't "play the entire movie." And if you don't set end actions for each chapter, then when you select one chapter it will play right on through to the end and you see more than just the chapter you selected.
Is there any way around this without having to write the (transcoded) .avi to the DVD twice? Let's say there are 10 chapters and no end actions set on the chapters, and only one timeline. Are you saying you would create 10 playlists and Playlist1 would contain only Chapter 1, Playlist2 would contain only Chapter 2, etc., and then you link your submenu buttons to each playlist? And then doing it this way would mean that the transcoded .avi only gets written once onto the DVD?

We are able to create assets number in Project System, but the same is not connected with Purchase Requestion and system will not able to create accounting document.
Or Unable to integrate asset number in Project System.

You inventory is maintain always in base unit of measure.
You can maintain different unit in material master like,
Order unit(Purchasing view) : - For Purchase Order
Unit of issue(Plant data1) : - For issue material.
You can see material stock in both unit of measure in MMBE.
After enter material code you can see material stock, by changing material unit of measure you can also saw material stock in specific unit of measure.
Maintain Order unit of measure in purchasing view and also active variable active unit( Enter 1 = active) in purchasing view

Transferring lease asset from project to company

The SO was raised for four items and were delivered under project WBS. However, these items are under leasing arrangement and should be classified as company asset.
Can anyone please advice how to process the change.

Nokia C7 unlock key broken as its projecting out

I accidentally got my C7 unlock key broken. I took it to nokia service center.. They said me that it doesnt include in warranty.. They ask me 2000 INR to change completely.. a small piece of projecting plastic switch got broken,how can i spend 2000?. What am i supposed to do..??

yeah.. i'll do that if issue crops up again. Bcz it occurs not that frequently, it will be really tough explaining the issue to Nokia care guys.. its been 10 months already and my nokia care still can't see purple patches in my display...
