Broken charger kills iPod, what now?
Yesterday I dropped my charger, but there was no visual damage. The charger was not from apple, but it did work fine. Before. When I plugged in my iPod, it instantly died. Nothing works, nor pressing buttons nor connecting to the computer. There is no visual damage, but it did get very hot the following 15 minutes after it happened. Well I know it is completely my own fault and stuff but I just have this one question: will replacing the battery fix this problem or is this un-repairable? If nothing will help, is there any way I can get a virtual iPod touch 3rd gen on my pc and put the back-up on it so I can get my contacts and stuff back? Thanks.
- You can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and hear what they have to say.
- You should be able to get your contacts and calendar. Just log into iCloud.com.
- You can get some data from the iPod backup in you synced/backed up to iTunes (vice iCloud) by:
iPhone Backup Extractor for Windows and Mac
- You can also purchase or borrow another iOS device and restore that device from your iPod backup. If you restore via iTunes, the iTunes library has to have all the apps in it so the app data has a place to go. The iOS device you use has to have iOS 5.1.1 (or later).

used wrong charger with ipod classic, now it wont turn on, displays the low battery icon even though its connected to the wright adapter.
Can anyone help ?
please?WHow long have you left it to charge? Have you tried resetting it after a short period of time to see if that can help jumpstart the charging process? To do this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

I HAVE A CORRUPT iPOD WHAT NOW?
after i did some water (accually gatorade) damage to my iPod my computer will not restore it because it is corrupt. what does this mean and how can i fix it? do i need to flush my ipod with water then let it dry all over again?? please help!
My iPod is corrupt, too (but for an unrelated reason). However, I'd say let it dry then try again, but I'm not too sure on whether that would help. Here's a little something, though: never use anything with water near electronic devices.

- Try another cable
- Try another charging source
- Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.

chadWhatever you do in terms of charging will not destroy your iPod.
Many people charge when it's convenient. Others just connect the iPod for syncing to the computer and leave it charging overnight, regardless of the ramaining charge level. Life of modern batteries is measured in full charge cycles. A charge cycle is either a full charge or any combination of small charges that adds up to 100% charge.
The only real recommendations I've seen (including from Apple) is to keep the batteries away from heat and have a full charge once a month. For this, discharge the battery to about 20%, then fully charge. -
I went on a trip and charged my iPod Touch using my MacBook. To do this I switched off "automatically synch" etc. Now I want to synch my iPod Touch but my MacBook keeps wanting to charge it. I can't see the iPod icon nor does plugging it into the USB port automatically start iTunes anymore. I recently upgraded to 10.6.3 from 10.5.8. Now what?
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. You have a defective iPod. If not abused, Apple will exchange it at no cost

I was charging my iPod and after charging for about 30 minutes I unplugged it. But now all it says is OK to disconnect. I have no idea what to do.

Okay so my Ipod Touch is connected to my computer which has charged my ipod before. Now when i plug it in, my ipod doesnt charge unless i move the charger around. Should I get a new charger, or what?
I could be the cable or it could be that the connecor in the iPod is damaged. If the iPod is the problem replacing the cable will not help. Look at the dock connector on the iPod and the contacts on the cable.

I only use my ipod touch for downloading audio books with Overdrive and do not use itunes on it. Today I charged my ipod on my mac, and my mac screen now tells me that itunes has detected that my ipod is in "recovery mode" and I need to "restore" my ipod, but the message warns that if I "restore" my ipod, I will lose all my settings and be back to factory settings. All that shows up on my ipod screen is the itunes logo and a charging cord. I would be so grateful for some help.
When in recovery mode you can't backup the iPod.
You will have to restore via iTunes. See:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -
I dropped my ipod touch 3 generation into some water. I let it dry off completely befor turning it back on. Now it shows me the itunes logo and the usb cord picture. I restored my ipod, and now it won't connect to itunes or my computer. What should I do?
Hey
Does it charge when connected, if not you may have broken it..
You can always try an apple Genius at an Apple Store,

The iPod touch 5 battery won't charge, the iPod battery gets hot and doesn't turn on... What is wrong? Can photos and data be retrieved?
- See:
iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. I suspect a hardware problem due to the hotness. If iTunes can't see the iPod then uor only hope if to contact a data recovery company for getting data off the iPod. If you have an iPod backup you can restore another iPod, iPhone or iPad from the backup to get the data that was in the backup

Try:

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
