Broken connector pin on my ipod

Hi everyone,
i was trying to charge my ipod (4th generation, 64GB) yesterday but it didn't work. I've noticed that one pin is folded/broken on the bottom: the charger doesn't fit.
I bought the ipod on amazon from Apple...
Is it going to be expensive if i want to fix it? Should i just buy a new one?
And also...can i give it to an apple store and get a refurbished one for a "cheap" price even if i don't have a warranty?
Thank you,
Ludovica

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

    Hello There

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Problem with Connector Pins??

Since Wednesday, I've had this issue with either the cable or the connector pins. If the wire is connected to the iPhone and and I push the plug slightly, the phone will cease to charge and sync with the computer until I've stopped touching it.
If I hold the phone at a certain angle, it again loses connection to the computer. Lose connection enough times and a pop up appears on my laptop saying something like "this device can perform faster on USB 2.0."
So, is it a problem with the connector pins? I tested out the cables on a different comp in case it was a problem with the USB port and it did the same thing.
Any opinion and/or help would be grateful.
    Thanks.
P.S. I'll try to post a video of the problem.

You can utilize any iPod cable. All the way back to iPod Nano's first model or maybe a few iPod classic models earlier than that. As long as the cable is USB 2.0 to iPod, it will work with connect and sync. You can't use FireWire to iPod however. FireWire doesn't have enough juice to sync devices except the first gen iPod era.
If other iPod cables don't work with your iPhone syncing there may be a problem with the connector pins which you can have an Apple employee inspect or visit an AT&T store for a probable swapout.
You can also purchase a battery case and utilize them for syncing. This replaces the iPod connector with Micro USB or Mini USB. You would connect your Mac/PC to the Micro/Mini USB and after it recognizes the new method, it'll know your iPhone and sync as well as charge your battery case.

  • I have 30 pin dice silverline ipod kit in my car and 30 to lighting cable and adapter plays audio but does not charge.  Is there a fix

My 30 pin dice silverline ipod kit in my car worked fine with my old iphone.  it charged and played audio.  I bought both 30 pin to lighting (cable and adapter) from Apple store but it does not charge.  It only play audio.  I have verified that both adapter and cable are working fine.  Is there anything to fix this?

Apple sells a 30 pin to lightning pin adapter - you can find it on the Apple on;line store - or Amazon sell 3rd party one - but if it didnt works with your 4S which also has a 30 pin input - there may be something else wrong

  • Sorting still broken when syncing to iPhone/iPod...

Ugh. Aperture 2 still hasn't fixed the broken syncing to the iPhone / iPod. When you sort an album by date (the default) and sync that album to the iPhone, the sort order is silently interpreted as "version name." Version name is almost never a reasonable sort order, except when it just so happens to correspond to image date.
If you're suffering from this problem, the workaround is to manually swap the order of a couple of images and swap them back -- then the album is in "custom" sort order which happily is synced correctly.

Thanks, this has been bugging me for a while now!!

  • Diagram showing the connector pin assignments for a TBX-68 terminal block

Could someone provide me with a diagram showing the connector pin assignments for a TBX-68 terminal block? The terminal block is connected to a PCI-6204E board.
    Thank you for your time
    Andrew Lockyer

Since pins 1 through 68 are clearly marked on the terminals, I'm guessing that what you really want is the pin out of your DAQ board. That information should be in the manual that came with the board. I could find no reference to a 6204 board on NI's site so I can't point you to an electronic version that you can download. Double check the model number of your board. Once you locate the manual and the pin out of the 68 pin connector on your board, then everything else is simple. Assuming you have a 68 pin ribbon cable connected between the board and the terminal block, then pin 1 on the board is pin 1 on the terminal block, etc.

  • Satellite Pro A60: AC Adaptor connector pin has snapped

The connector pin in the laptop portal hole has snapped off and is now inside the AC Adaptor cable head. Does anyone know if it is possible to get the laptop repaired? As an alternative is there any way that I can charge the battery away from the laptop, so that I can use the laptop as battery operated only?

    Hi Lyn,
This is quite a common failure on this type of connector. The good news is that it is repairable, the bad news is that it usually involves the replacement of the main board which is not a cheap option.
You may be able to find a repairer who can just solder on a new power socket but when I had mine repaired last year I just got the usual 'sorry but we can't get the parts' reply from the repairers I approached.
I suggest you approach a Toshiba Authorised Service Partner and ask for a quote for the repair.
    regards,

Really.  You cannot exchange a 32 gb for a 16 gb at all.
    Sorry.
The Canada Proce happens to be $149.  You can look this up yourself.

  • Motherboard screen connector pins

hi, i have a question about my compaq nc6220 laptop.
the connector pinouts on my motherboard where the lcd screen end connects into; one of the pins is missing. i think its 20 pins, and the pin that is missing is on the 2nd row, 3rd one from the right. my screen was working fine and now its just gone really dim. i very much doubt its the inverter or the backlight of the screen as it is a new screen and i was upgrading to vista and then the screen went all dim.
when i press down on the right hand side of the lcd cable the screen lights up, im assuming this pinout on the motherboard is required, so is it possible to get a connector pin and replace it or do i need to get a new motherboard? whcich does seema little stupid tbh.
your advice is appreciated. im assuming their are some pins that are grounded on the motherboard and not really required, is it not possible to just take this one out and put it in the place of the one that is required?

Please post again in hardware section, you'll have better answers.
I'm assuming you are hardware knowledge, as for not all pins are used.
You did the troubleshoot correctly per your statement "when i press down on the right hand side of the lcd cable the screen lights up,", I'm guessing you have have cable issue.
Anyway, please ask again in hardware section.

  • Need 50-pin connector pin assignment list for valuemotion NuDrive 4SX-411

    Hi,
I need a copy of the 50-pin connector pin assignment list for the valuemotion NuDrive 4SX-411.   I have the 321942B-01 User Guide document, but it does not contain the pin assignement list.   I can't find the information on NI's website.
    David Geminden

You can find the pin assignment in the user manual of the PCI-7314/7324 ValueMotion controller. On page 38 in this document there is the 50 pin assignement of these boards, that is compatible to your NuDrive. Please note that this is the pin assignment from the controller's point of view.
    I hope this helps,

  • I have a bose docking station with a 30 pin connector and purchased the Ipod 5G and also have a Ipad4th Gen and have tried several connectors but cannot get any audio.  Any suggestions?

I have a Ipod Touch 5G and a Ipad 4th Gen with a Bose sound dock with a 30 pin adapter.  I have tried several connectors but cannot get any audio on the sound dock.  Do you have any suggestions?

Have you tried this adapter from the Apple on-line store http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter?fnode=3c  They also have one that uses a cord to connect the dock to lightning that is $10 more.

  • Ipod Touch 4g dock connector pins bent

Hello, my daughter's Ipod Touch 4g will no longer charge and taking a close look at it, a few of the pins in the dock connector are bent. Does Apple repair these? Because I am having a hard time finding a repair place in town

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and ask.  The Genius may be able to bend then back.  The Genius may also replace your iPod at no cost or charg you the following for a replacement.

Typically, the store ill only change out your battery.  Ohter repair are exchanges.
You can also contact this place. I do not see dock connector replacement but you can ask them.

  • Connector pin broken but charger still works, safe to use?

On the power supply, at the end that plugs into the computer, the connector is cylindrical with a thin metal pin in the middle. That metal pin has broken off but the plug light still goes on when the connector is plugged in. Can I still continue to use the charger or will the computer be damaged? If not, I would appreciate an explanation as I am familiar with electronics. What is the function of the center pin? The plug end has a third prong for ground. Thanks in advance

Thanks for your response. It's a T500. The powersupply with broken pin is 65w, but I've also used 90w and that works fine too. I looked at the hardware maintenance manual for the T500 and it has that exact same diagram. So the pin (2) has 0 V? So it's not needed?
well... i'm not qualified to say "it's not needed". i can't imagine it being there if there wasn't some design purpose for it.
i've got so many of these things laying around that if i had one with a broken pin, i'd just pitch it. i do realize, though, that not everyone has a big box of ThinkPad parts and accessories accumulated over more years that one might care to admit.
    cheers.
