Broken fan blade. Help!

Ok so atm ive got 2 msi gtx 760's, the red and black twin frozr ones. and one of the fan blades has come off so what im asking is does anyone know where i can get a replacement fan or even a replacement twin frozr cooler?

Well, if the fan just died rma will be fine and without cost. If physical damage because fan touched something or such (own fault) warranty is voided and rma will be refused. In such case you will need an aftermarket cooler.
Replacing will not void the warranty. Only damaging the card while trying would. The sticker is meant to scare off those trying to careless unmount the cooler. If your card is already physically damaged that doesn't matter much though. In case of issueing rma the original cooler has to be mounted.

  • Broken Fan Blades on MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr

    Greetings,
I quite recently purchased an MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozer OC and have been extremely happy with it, but today I had to replace a faulty motherboard and upon pulling the guts out of my computer I found two smashed up fan blades in the bottom of my case. The two blades in question seem to have snapped off completely from the bottom and I cannot figure out why.
The card still works perfectly so I'd prefer not to have to send it to Holland for repairs, is it possible to get a spare fan from MSI or from elsewhere?
    Thanks in advance.

Fans aren't sold separately by MSI. Some guys here could obtain those on ebay from China but you'd need to check for the right ones as they won't be sold as Twin Frozr replacement fans. Alternatively MSI would need to repair it (not for free of course as it is physically damaged). Other than that you could get an aftermarket cooler.

  • Broken fan-blade

    Hello there!
I own a GTX 970 which i have managed to break off one of the fan blades on the front fan.
Since the front fan is set as the primary fan it causes alot of vibration in my case (because of the imbalance), so i was wondering if there is ANY way to change which fan is set as default?
(I am awaiting response from my reseller if they have a workshop for MSI cards, so that i can send it in and pay for repairs on it.)
I really just need a solution to this!

    Hi
I dont think you can change anything within default values of how fans work. Or maybe I am not aware of this being possible yet.

  • Re: GTX 970 Gaming 4g Broken fan blade

you have to sent the card back to reseller or MSI for repair

I need help with a broken fan. I broke the plastic plug off the fan and need help making sure i connect the wire to the correct blade. If someone is feeling really nice could you unscrew the fan, flip it over, and with the text on the sticker facing right side up(so that you can read it) tell me where each line connects. the top being number 1, below that being number 2 and so one. The connections on the logic board.... the closest to the ram being 1 the next being 2 and so on. I know this is a lot to ask, but it will be a huge help. Thank you in advance to anyone willing to take the time to do this.

  • Broken fan on a gtx460 cyclone

i managed to stick my finger in the fan whilst it was moving and one of the fan blades has broken is the anywhere i can buy a fan for it or who i can contact at MSI to see if i can but a replacement fan?

You can probably match one up, but since you are in Europe you will need to contact your re-seller.
You can try MSI, but I think they will refer you back to the re-seller

  • Fan blades snapped.

I have a Lenovo X220 for about 3 and a half years now. Around a month back, my fan made a cracking noise and one of the fan blade snapped. At the time I didn't give much attention to it as it didn't interefere with my computer's performance at all. However, around these 2 days, the fan snapped again about 4 times, and now I have around 5-6 fan blades broken. Now my computer begins vibrating during normal usage and when I starts playing some games on it the fan will make some noise and the computer vibrates a lot. I heard somewhere that if I allow the fan to continue to spin it will eventually balances out itself but I am not too sure. Should I get the laptop to fix or should I just let the computer fan shred itself till it balances? Any advices would be appreciated, thanks. Edit: BTW, I have to wait till the end of August after summer holiday before I can get this thing to a technician. Is there anyway to make the laptop last till then.

you have to talk to msi about this

  • Replacing Macbook Pro Fan Blade

Hello. I managed to break off a few of the blades on my MacBook Pro's fan. I'm in need of a new fan. When searching online, I've only been able to find the fan bundled as a kit with the housing and assembly. I'm hoping to replace it without dropping $80 on unnecessary parts. I only need the cheep, black plastic fan (no assembly, no housing, no electronics). Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you!

You could get something like this for less than a third of that price:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Macbook-PRO-15-C2D-A1226-A1260-A1211-OEM-Right-Fan-/30053251 2590?pt=LHDefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f922374e#ht_500wt904
You could also look on the fan blade assembly and see if there is a part number on it (probably on the "hub"); if so, google that to see if something comes up.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
To reset the iPod without the hardware buttons,
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. All your wifi and bluetooth preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected. You will have to rejoin wifi networks and repair BT devices
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • 6950 Twin FROZR III Fan blade BROKE!!!!Help!

when i was playing a game, i turned the fan to 80% fan speed and this happened :( the card is 1 week old and newegg can't help me...What can i do... if i leave the fan like this it will die because its unbalanced

My advice is best RMA it as is, msi/reseller normally will not accept modified stuffs.
Also the FAN is a new special design introduced with Twin Frozr III Thermal Design called Propeller Blade fan. [images attached]
    * MSI  Propeller  Blade  technology  generates  20%  more  airflow  than  traditional
design, and the airflow covers wider area for the better heat dissipation. Twin Frozr
III thermal design provides 11°C cooler & 13.9dB quieter than reference cooler .
20% More Airflow with Exclusive Propeller Blade Technology
The MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition is equipped with the latest Twin Frozr III dual fan thermal solution. The MSI-exclusive Propeller Blade technology features air channels on the edge of the blades to expand total airflow by up to 20%! The twin 8cm PWM fans, heat pipe technology, large surface-area nickel-plated copper base and high fin density all serve to rapidly draw excess heat away from the graphics card. Under a full load, the R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition GPU runs 11˚C cooler than the reference design, and noise emission is reduced by 13.9 dB— validating the superior cooling performance and silent running advantages of the Twin Frozr III.
Since active users may use their graphics cards for a variety of applications, MSI developed the exclusive P/S Switch function for controlling the speed of the fans. The Performance Mode is used to achieve an optimal cooling performance, helping to keep the GPU cool even under high loads. For applications or settings where noiselessness is preferred, the Silent Mode can be utilized as the appropriate mode for gaming or movies, ensuring that fan noise is kept to a minimum while still receiving outstanding cooling performance.
if i RMA it they said i probably wont get a TF3 back, i want a TF3 I paid for a tf3. or atleast the fan....they wont even sell me a fan..and to rma it i need to pay 45$+shipping..think im gonna file a bbb on newegg..
msi wont even let me buy a replacement fan -_-

  • Power supply fan dead - help? (400mhz AGP G4)

    Hello!
Unfortunately, my PowerMac G4, a 400mhz, AGP Sawtooth model, has a dead fan.
Over the last few weeks, I've noticed that my G4 has been running quite hot. I figured it was due to the hot dorm room that it's being used in. Then, I noticed that when it booted up, it would occasionally make a vibrating, or rattling noise - I figured the fan was wobbling. Since air was comming out of the fan opening at the top, I didn't worry about it.
Today, I used the "Temperature Monitor" widget to check the temperature of my SMART Hard drive (the G4 itself is not sensed). It was 133 degrees!!! This is the bay on the back-right, just under the CPU fan. I looked at the fan again - not much airflow. I pulled out a flashlight and pointed it in, and the Fan that's inside the power supply unit is dead.
So, how can I fix it? It's far far too hot, so it's not usable until I can cool it off. The first idea I had was to take a particularly powerful desk fan, and make a paper "tube" that connects both to the G4 and back of the fan - so it'll pull the hot air out. Needless to say, this is not a good log-term plan as it's easy to fall apart and will have leaks, but it works for now. I realize you can buy power supplies, but for ~$100, it's far too much for the old G4.
Second idea: The fan is inside the "non-user servicable" power supply, but it's also next to the back of the G4 - right inside what appears to be a panel that holds the power supply in. At the very least, I'd like to make sure that the cable is attached and not loose, but I have to open the back. Is that possible or safe? If so, can I replace the fan?
My third idea was to attach an extra fan to the inside of the G4, on the outside of the power supply - pushing in. Unfortunately, the IDE cable from the DVD drive is in the way, and there's not much room for a fan. Plus, there's no fan power supply. Is it possible to convert an ATA power plug (there are 7!) to a fan-power supply? I'd require a small circuit and a lot of resistors, obviously! If so, what would I need to do to convert it?
    Thanks a bunch,
    -Dan
    15" 1.67 Powerbook G4 (Jan 2005), 400 mhz AGP Sawtooth G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   4G Clickwheel and 5G Vid iPods, 2G iPod shuffle

    Thanks!
Interesting, this "Piggy back power adapter" will allow me to plug the fan into one of the ATA/IDE cables? Or do you mean the extra port on the power supply? (it has one plug for the outlet>G4, then another to support something like a monitor or similar) The G4 has a DVD burner, but no ZIP drive, so this is quite do-able if it uses the ATA power.
When you say "lower rear", do you mean at the bottom? Below the power supply, to the right of the PCI slots? If so, this is the inflow for the CPU fan! I can understand mounting it outside the current outflow-vent for the dead power supply fan, although I'm not sure the best way to proceed with attaching the fan.
Another question: what tools and supplies will I need? I may need to remove the plastic cover on the back of the G4 - the one that is outside the power supply - as there's a gap between the gray plastic and metal chassis that lets air from outside the machine come in. The screws for this cover use a funky, hexagonal screwdriver. If I need to take this cover off, what kind of screwdriver will I need? Also, should the fan not include screws/etc, what's the best method to attach it? Glue?
Secondly, to cut a hole in the G4, will I need some variety of drill? I don't have one, so i'll have to borrow one... Since there's nothing in the ZIP slot, I can run a cable out through here (assuming it's long enough), and make a new bezel to keep the airflow inside intact.
Ah! One other (somewhat related) question: my USB 2 card includes a power adapter, for use when several un-powered devices (flash drives) are attached. It works just fine with a flash drive and a small media reader, but it's slow to sense the drives - I think it's low on power. Unfortunately, this power plug uses the same variety of plug as the floppy disk drives found on many win-boxes - of which the G4 possesses none. Is there an adapter/cable for this purpose?
Thanks, this is a HUGE help, I appreciate it.

  • LEAP wireless clients work, then fail, Using WISM blades HELP

I am at a complete loss. Calls to Cisco, working with different vendors, nothing has worked to solve the problem. This is what we see, and we see this at every single one of our hospital sites.
All hospitals used to run just IOS code on their AP's. Some hospitals used the older 1200 series AP's, which have been upgraded from B only radios to A/B/G. Some hospitals were rolled out with newer 1240 series AP's. Every single hospital was just fine when using IOS code on the AP's. Users never disconnected or disassociated. They were fine. Clients run a mixture of the old Cisco 350 series cards, or Ubiquiti A/B/G cards.
Now, fast forward and we started installing WISM blades in all the 6509 distribution switches at each hospital. AP's were then upgraded to lightweight code and at first everything seemed great. Then the calls started.
All clients at all hospitals will just disassociate. It is completely random. Some machines can see it once, others 50 times a day, then tomorrow, totally different. I have witnessed the same thing with my laptop. We have 3 WLAN's in the hospitals. One that uses LEAP authentication, one that uses Certificates, and one that is our Patient WiFi. Both LEAP and Certs have the issue. I have never been kicked off of the Patient WiFi system. Not once.
LEAP clients use the same exact ACS servers they have always used. Nothing changed in the configs. Same goes for the clients using certificates.
I have upgraded code on the WISM blades 3 times now. Currently we are using the 5.187 code. I have tried forcing all AP's to use only B/G radios, tried using only A, doesn't matter. Same problem happens.
What is even worse, when this event happens, 50% of the time you have to actually reboot the workstation to get it to log back onto the wireless network. It fails the attempt and it just stops. This is not everyone at the same time either. There seems to be no event that I can find where all clients have the problem at the exact same time. I can have two devices side by side, same exact NIC, same software, everything. One will disassociate, the other is just fine.
I am out of ideas. Everyone I talk to at Cisco says never heard of this before. I just can't believe we are the only ones that have ever seen this problem.
I can take the same workstation that is breaking left and right on our wireless networks using the WISM blades, go to a site with AP's still in IOS mode, it will never disassociate and disconnect.
Has anyone heard of this, have any ideas of something I could try. Would you like to see any other information about this? I can post whatever you like to help. I am looking for any assistance on this.
I have been trying to do some searches on this forum, but for whatever reason it seems to be very slow so thought I might post my issue as I search around, maybe if it has already come up and there is a fix, someone could direct me right too it.
    Thank you in advance.

I tried that in the beginning. Put all ap power and channel as hard set. It did not change anything. I am not sure if we have tried the 4.2.207 code. I know we went through several 4.x.x codes in testing. Cisco recommended the lastest one that we are on now.
What really gets me is how everything worked just fine until the WISM upgrade. No AP placement changed, no additional AP installs, we just installed the WISM blades, migrated code to lightweight and everything started flaking out.
What other NIC's do people use? Maybe the brand we use is not any good? I have been up and down with the vendor, tried different drivers, nothing seemed to change anything.
It looks to me like the WISM sends out some kind of response that the workstation NIC's do not understand, so they just sit there. On wireless sniffer traces, you can see where the request goes out to the workstation, but the workstation just never responds, hence the lockup so to speak. It will just sit there until a reboot of the PC.

  • HT4044 Part of my iPad(1st gen) screen display does not show, hence I can only see it partially. It was not dropped and neither is it broken. Any help as I was told it cant be fixed and i hv 2 replace with a new unit i.e. pay in full as warranty is over? HE

Part of my iPad screen display does not show. It was not dropped and neither is the screen broken. I was advised to see the local service provider for a diagnosis.
I had finally managed to find time to find a local service provider last week (not easy) and was disappointed to be advised of Apple's policy of one for one exchange i.e. they wont repair and said that i would have to replace with a whole unit. As my unit is no longer under warranty, it meant that I had to pay for the full price of a new unit!
I might as well have paid for the latest new unit but since my unit is only 2 years old at most, it would be a great waste of money.
How can this be? Does this mean apple's product is inferior and do not last since warranty is only for one year?
I sincerely hope there is a favourable solution otherwse my money is flushed down the drain.
    HELP!!!

I was using my iPad last night, shut the power off and when I turned it on this morning 2/3 of the screen is not working.  It looks like the pandalela picture. What is the answer to fix this; is this a screen issue or and electronics issues.  Has anybody else experienced this?
