Broken Flash

Hi all,
I don't now how it happened, but suddenly my Flash player wasn't working anymore (probably my own fault somehow, but don't ask me how). My logical thought was: de-install, download and re-install.
Flash Player Standalone is working fine now. The problem is, none of my browsers see it. I've tried throwing away all Flash related files and then re-install, I installed through Firefox, I even installed an older version (8) of Flash player, but nothing seems to work.
How to fix this?

I'm having the same problem, I think that the newest version of Flash is not compatible with the Intel Mac.
so frustrating >.<
It would be really great if either Apple or Adobe/Macromedia addressed this problem, because there seems to be no place to download the version of Flash that will work on my Intel MacBook.

  • Broken flash player on my blog.

Hi, sometimes i have broken flash player on my blog. Just like that, my videos on the blog dosen't appear anymore. You can look here for exemple: In my type - Blog personal: Tutorial
Now, i have this problem, but sometimes it works. It's a problem from my blog ? Or from flashplayer ?
    Cheers !

Works on my PC; if it does not work on some other systems, you need to provide some details (operating system, browser, Flash Player version, etc.).

  • 1131 access point, broken flash?

I have had two 1131 access points die in the last few weeks, both with the same symptoms. I suspect both have broken flash systems and are due for the bin. If anyone can offer any confirmation or a way to fix it, I would be grateful.
On booting, it gives the following error:
    Xmodem file system is available.
flashfs[0]: unable to allocate available block.
The system has been interrupted, or encountered an error
during initializion of the flash filesystem.  The following
commands will initialize the flash filesystem, and finish
    loading the operating system software:
        flash_init
        ether_init
        tftp_init
        boot
    ap:
Trying to wake up the flash:
    ap: flash_init
    Initializing Flash...
flashfs[0]: unable to allocate available block.
    ...done Initializing Flash.
    ap: dir flash
unable to stat flash/: permission denied
I have tried the standard recovery mode of uploading a new firmware via TFTP, but I can't even set variables:
    ap: set IP_ADDR 10.0.0.1
    flash:/env_vars.tmp: invalid argument
The filesystem containing the variables may not be initialized yet.

Thanks for the tip, however I should probably have said the access points are autonomous, so the method you suggested will not work.
    Yes it does.
    You need a two-step method.
Your AP is booting up with either no IOS or a corrupt IOS.
    1.  In order to efficiently transfer the IOS to an AP that has no IOS you need to use the process I've posted earlier.
    2.  Once the AP boots up in autonomous mode, it's as easy as giving the BVI1 an IP address and use the command "copy tftp: flash:" to transfer the LWAP/CAPWAP IOS to the AP.

  • Broken Flash Video link - Dreamweaver CS3

    I'm using a Mac G-5, PPC, Dreamweaver CS3
I cannot get FLV videos to show up on webpages. I've never had this prob before. (I currently have pages online which play their vids fine and were produced the same way I'm working it now.) I insert the video onto the page as usual, make the setting for "progressive download", "detect size", etc in the dialog box and hit OK. The video shows on my page in Dreamwvr as a Flash Vid but after saving and testing in a browser nothing shows up in 3 different browsers. I tested the page in Firefox, Netscape and Flock and nothing shows. In Opera the video player shows but will not play. In Safari it plays fine!  In Dreamweaver, in the "assets" window, when I select any of the 4 FLV's there, I get the broken link icon (jigsaw puzzle piece) showing in the window yet the vids reside in the same place they've always resided.
The "AC_RunActiveContent.js" file is contained in the "Scripts" folder inside the "Files" window.
I have a page containing videos which is currently published and they play fine in all tested browsers......however in Dreamwvr's "assets" window I am getting the same symbol that looks like the broken link (puzzle piece) there as well and NO changes have been made to those files and assets.
Here's the link to that online page:
    https://mnbbank.com/financial_video.html
I'd like to include a screenshot but I can't because the CSS, Tag & Files/Assets windows close when the screen capture software opens.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

  • I finally solved the mystery of broken Flash by downgrading to Flash 10.0.12.36

I'm one of the many users who seems to be having trouble with Flash these days. I solved my issue by downgrading to Flash 10.0.12.36, and I think I figured out why it was happening. I use Firefox 9.0.1, and I believe Flash incorrectly detected this and silently pushed an incompatible new version. Gee, thanks Adobe.
Note: Flash 10.0.12.36 detected my Opera installation but not my Firefox installlation, but manually copying the files from Opera's plugins folder to Firefox's worked fine.
Additional Note: No, I will not upgrade. Stop typing, close your mouth. Don't even start. Take it somewhere else - preferably to another browser's dev team. Firefox has fallen long and hard since the glory days of 1.x, and 9.0.1 is the final usable version of Firefox for me. If you put half as much effort into backporting security fixes to old versions as you put into yelling at people to upgrade, you might have a happy userbase instead of a confused, angry, rapidly shrinking one. It's not the easiest way to build a product, but when was the moral high road ever easy? From my point of view, the browser's job is to unquestioningly enable content. You want to add restrictions and security? That is what addons are for. I have absolutely zero fear of running old versions; between addons and using about:config to excise unwanted Firefox features, nothing suspicious ever gets a chance to become active. I frequent some of the scariest, most infected places on the web and I have not been infected since the 90's. So I do not need to upgrade. You need to downgrade, and get back in touch with your alienated former users, who want a modern browser that looks and acts like Firefox 1.x and would rather scrap a proposed feature entirely than break a single addon.
OK, I feel much, much better now. Time to go watch some Youtube!

You may wish to note that at least some of the problems on any Windows system after Windows XP could relate to the use of FlashPlayers protected mode.
Some users may wish to employ the most recent version of Flash Player that will work on their sytem. in which case it could be worth trying an up-to-date version of FlashPlayer but with protected mode disabled.
The setting is changeable by editing a file ( adding the line ProtectedMode=0 to the Flash "mms.cfg" file) and instructions may be found in these articles

  • Disk Utility won't let me do anything with broken flash drive?

    Hi there,
I own an 8GB SanDisk flashdrive that recently, and out of nowhere, changed permissions to write only. I feel like this may have something to do with the fact that when it was in my old Macbook I would close the screen with it still inserted and it would eject itself and the drive has possibly become corrupt because of this happening one too many times? Anyhow, when moving files around and to my new Macbook and what not, I tried to move some from this USB and it wouldn't let me. I eventually worked out that it would let me copy the files and paste them elsewhere, but now I have this flash drive with a bunch of files that can still be read and I don't know what to do with it because it won't let me delete them either. When I try it comes up with "The item can't be moved to the trash because it can't be deleted." I've tried Disk Utility and this is what happens under the First Aid, Erase and Partition options
I've also tried the appropriate commands in terminal to try to get the disk utility to respond and I kept recieving error messages there too. Also, when I click on the volume underneath the disk it shows all the space that all the files that are very much there are taking up but then also says there's zero files.
Anyone know what on earth is going on?! I mean I know the USB has probably just had it but I'm wondering if there's any possible way I can repair or erase it at this point?

I suspect that the USB is dead.  This is the result I get when I insert my USB drive formatted the same as yours:
Note that the options are not grayed out.
You might connect it to a PC, if available, and see if there is any difference.
    Ciao.

  • Image instead of broken Flash icon

Hello all. Does anyone know if there is a way to show a jpeg image while a Flash file is loading or better, if they don' t have Flash?
Problem is that when people go to a site and they don't have Flash and can't install it (ie: iPhone), they can't see phone numbers, address etc. which is why that came there. It would sure easier to push Flash if there was a way to have an alternate image to view. Any help would be appreciated.

This post will help you resolving your issue.

    U can also use google's <swfobject> .

  • Broken Flash Player

    Hey!
I have a 2006 MacBook and recently anytime I watched a video- youtube, project tv,etc- it would notify me saying "Update plug in would you like to run this time" and I would click yes, run this time. The other day that option went away and now I can no longer play any media. I tried to update Adobe flash player but it won't allow me to saying there was an error. What can I do?

First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Early 2006 model 1,1 Core Duo can only run a maximum of 10.6 Snow Leopard.
The models Late 2006 Core 2 Duos 2,1 through Early 2008 4,1 can only run a maximum of 10.7 Lion.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody through the Mid 2010 White Unibody model 7,1 can run 10.8 Mountain Lion.

    Mine isn't working either.
No Volume icon. When I try to turn it on in Sound Prefs, I click the checkbox but it won't check off.
No Clock. When I turn it on in Date & Time Prefs, it doesn't stay checked off, and it also doesn't show up in the menu bar.
    No Airport Status Indicator.
    No Battery Life Indicator.

  • Flash z-index problem

    hi!
I have problem with z-index of my flash animation.
On Mac everything works great (on Safari and Firefox), but on Windows I have the same problem on all browsers.
Basically, the dropdown menu is displaying below my flash animation instead of above.
I'm surprised on mac everything is working perfectly and it doesn't depend on the browser...
is maybe due to the published javascript code generated by Flash ?
    thanks

Safari and Firefox Mac have very broken and slightly broken
    Flash
Players. There is no viable workaround unless you want to
    eliminate all
"hover" effects. Adobe claims it's an Apple or a browser bug.
    Apple
claims it's a failure on the part of Adobe to "cocoa-ize"
    something or

  • Flash Player is the new malware !

I had a perfectly functional old Flash 10.0.32 with any security holes covered by my Security.protection
When I discovered 36 vulnerabilities I decided to "upgrade",
with no assurance that the latest version did not have at least another 100 vulnerabilities waiting to be discovered and exploited.
I was horrified that you seem to clickjack me.
I thought I was clicking for Flash 10.1, but what you gave the Firefox download manager was a GetPlus download manager.
Why on earth would I want your UNPROVEN download manager, WHICH YOU STATE HAS AN UNPATCHED VULNERABILITY ! !
I only came here to improve security on a dodgy Adobe product for which I have only rare use.
IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE THAT YOU DUMP ANOTHER HACKERS HIGHWAY ONTO MY SYSTEM.
It is also disgusting that when you gave mme Getplus INSTEAD OF the expected FLASH,
I had to accept this with no assurance that it would finally deliver Flash -
For all I knew you could have been downloading a keylogger and identity theft device.
I also am horrified by your incompetance demonstrated by the new high risk way of doing things :-
You totally failed to perform the download and upgrade after my many repeated attempts.
I gave up trying to upgrade.
Then I found that a site which always worked well now had problems due to my Flash being totally busted by your attempts.
You bungled everything - you even crippled the old version that had been functional.
I finally went back to the old way and uninstalled the broken Flash by using
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe.
I then used the old way of a direct download of Flash 10.1, but again your GetPlus download manager had its evil way.
I now have Flash plugin 10.1.53, and have removed (so far as I can see) your wretched GetPlus virus downloader.
My computer seems to have survived all your exploits,
but I am still steaming over all the needless aggravation Adobe has caused me.
When I was given this P.C. one of the first major bloat things to be un-installed was Adobe Reader.
I did not like a few 100 MBytes of bloat to do what other readers achieve with less than 10 MBytes,
and I especially did not like the fact that by the time Adobe had started up I had forgotten which PDF I needed to read.
With a little more experience I now realise there are far more important reasons to avoid / replace Adobe products.
I am now anxiously waiting for HTLM5 to replace Flash.
    Alan

    Thanks for the information,
but not looking forward to needing it when existing vulnerabilities are identified.
I saw that GetPlus has a vulnerability when I looked at the Adobe FAQ before I allowed GetPlus to invade me.
Google gives 8 results for "getplus vulnerability",
or 43,400 results when omitting the quotes.
The 43,4000 results are reduced to 89 when I use Advanced search to restrict the search to Adobe.com.
I forget the precise phrase I saw in the Adobe FAQ which increased my concern over the GetPlus fellowtraveller,
but it definitely advised that there was an as yet unpatched vulnerability.
I cannot now find the relevant FAQ.
I guess my efforts are hampered by my Honours degree in technology instead of a degree in stupidity.
I am pretty sure that I saw the click opportunity to access the relevant FAQ whilst enroute to actually installing this unwanted downloader,
and I have no wish to go through that aggravation again - but I assure you the admission of this problem does appear on Adobe.com.

  • Flash Not Detected After Enterprise Deployment

I recently deployed Flash 13 from ConfigMgr 2012. My package consisted of the Flash uninstaller and the Flash msi. I run the uninstaller first to make sure that the systems were clean followed by the Flash msi installer. When my users go to sites that contain Flash it is not detected. Checked add/remove programs shows that Flash 13.xxx ActiveX is installed. Users are using IE9 and Windows 7 x86. If I go to the adobe site and install Flash from there it works. For testing I deployed Flash 14 to a couple users who were having the issue. The same thing happens with 14. So again, I go and install Flash from the internet. Checking Add/Remove programs afterwards shows two identical entries for Flash Active x 14. The only difference is the size of the installations. Further testing today seems to indicate that if a new user logs into a machine where Flash is broken Flash works for that user. Has anyone else seen anything like this?

I had the same issue after installing Mountain Lion from the App store. The issue is you are missing the IOUSBFamily.kext extension amongst others. The solution is to backup your macbook, then perform a clean install of Mountain Lion.
I had this done at the Apple Store and now everything is restored as well as performance speed being improved.
Note: When restoring your files (a clean install will delete all your files and applications), use the Migration Assistant.
I would recommend going to the Apple Store to do this because they can perform the clean install from a USB which is so much faster than the download form the App store.
    Hope this helps.

  • Installing flash player gpo 11.4 - wont uninstall previous version

I created a GPO and it installs flash player 11.4 successfully on some machines, however, on machines with some previous versions of flash 10.x, the GPO doesnt install version 11.4. If you reboot the computer on the problemmachines, during the GPO appying computer settings you actually see "install adobe flash player active x 11.4..." but it doesnt install. In control panel the old 10.x version that was pushed out via GPO is still there. I do not have the GPO or files\install for the 10.x version, it has been mistakenly deleted.
This is the error in the application log on the machine:
Product: Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX -- Error 1714.The older version of Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. System Error 1612.
Even if I try the manual uninstall from Adobe, I still cannot install version 11.4 from the GPO. Any ideas someone please?

All of these keys have broken Flash installs at one point or another here until they were removed as part of the update install. The most recent one I found was the entry at the top, the Safe Versions key broke a lot of systems when I rolled out 11.4 until I found it.

  • Help me:Flash CS3 cannot import AI format

When I inport the AI format, the software makes a mistake on
    the prompt:
    "unknown software exception(0xc000000d),location:0x7813892c"
    What meaning is this?

The problem is probably the card reader. VPC works because it is talking to the device directly and isn't using the Mac OS X USB mass storage stack. Back around 10.3, this issue started cropping up with certain broken flash readers, including my old one (do a search on this board for Zio). The cause is the fault of the device. Windows manages to avoid it by transferring data less efficiently in smaller pieces.
If you're comfortable poking around in Terminal, a couple of years ago, I built a workaround driver that might help (it's a copy of Apple's USB mass storage KEXT with a handful of tweaks). You can find that at
    http://www.darwin-development.org/flashreader/
If you try it, let me know if that helps or doesn't help. It will slow down all USB transfers, though, so if you have or are planning to buy any recent iPod, I wouldn't recommend this.
There's also a workaround that involves copying the whole flash card. Basically, it goes like this:
    1. type "ls /dev" in Terminal.
    2. You'll see a bunch of things marked /dev/disk0s3 and similar.
    3. Connect the flash reader.
    4. Repeat steps 1 and 2.
    5. Note the new entries in /dev. There will be one new "whole device" dev file (without a "s3" partition number) shown---probably /dev/disk1.
    6. Substitute that device into the following line in place of /dev/disk1. Be SURE not to mix up the if (input file) and of (output file) entries.
    dd if=/dev/disk1 of=tempimg.iso bs=512
    7. Wait for this to finish.
    8. Remove the flash card/reader.
    9. type:
open tempimg.iso (or double-click the file in the Finder)
    10. Import into iPhoto from the disk image.
    11. Eject the disk image.
    12. Delete the tempimg.iso disk image.
But the best answer is to replace the flash reader. I'd suggest FireWire, since I've never heard of any significant problem reports with any FireWire readers.
