Broken G72-B60US AC jack fix

I have a G72-B6OUS notebook with an ac jack that has broken an anchor pin internally. It still functions but is getting looser with each charging cycle. I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried a 90 degree connector to swing the ac input away from the side of the notebook. As I see it, one fatal flaw the G72 has is the placement of the ac jack, every time it's tugged on the jack gets a little looser. Eventually the jack shorts out and burns the motherboard.

Hi

    Hi there Rlong50,
You may want to try force closing all open apps and resetting the device as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

I can... you cannot. I'm not sure why. It will not work on an app icon.
Are you sure you're doing this on a Folder?
Perhaps it is a function of Finder. You can try deleting Finder prefs to default.
Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences folder and trash these files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

Photoshop shut down while I drew a picture, now the file is broken and I can´t fix it, photshop won´t open the file and I have tried repearing it with different programs. What should I do? I spent 6 hours on the pic and I dont even have a screenshot or anything.

You don't even say what platform you are on, or any other details that may help others assist you.
If you are on a Mac, try opening your file in GraphicConverter (they have a demo version) if that doesn't open it, nothing will, in my experience.
I assume you have tried Adobe Illustrator already to recover.
You may also have a JPEG of your complete file (flattened) in Bridge Cache.
On the Mac you'd find it in your User ~Library (NOT the Root Library ):
    Users > yourname > Library > Caches > Adobe > Bridge CS6 > Cache > 1024 > jpg(fileID)number Filename.psd.jpg
The user ~Library is hidden, but you can make it visible for an moment or two.  Ask Apple if you don't know how.
    I don't do Windows.

  • Notebook G72-B60US

I have a notebook computer G72-B60US my computer crashed 3 nights ago when i let a Norton technician into my computer via-Internet. Due to the fact my anti-virus would not pull up the technician erased some files on my computer. my computer restarted -4 times during this process just fine then the final erasing of files my computer would not start back up.  I tried everything i knew how to do and nothing would work. I took my computer to Office Depot where I bought it at for them to get everything off of my hard drive so i did not lose anything. I ordered the "System Recovery DVD Window 7 Recovery Media for Window 7 Products" I just recieved it today and I  am trying to load it back onto my computer and followed all the directions I know it will take longer than an hour to complete the whole process. But it keeps sticking on 12% and I do not know what to do. i tried to restart my computer and it said system reboot failed press ctrl+alt+del. I did that and the same message reappeared. It is like  system start up/ booting file isn't there. I am at a lose for words now i just bought the computer on febuary 23, 2011 so it is not that old. But go figure my older laptop has never failed me and I have had it since 2005. Please Please someone help me I really need it right now.

I would almost have to be there to see this, but typically, if you boot from the dvd (it seems you've already accomplished this) it'll do a factory restore on the already active partitions.
I would try to hit the F12 key while your computer is booting, most HP's have the f12 key mapped to the recovery partition, so see if that does anything worthwhile for you.
Sorry I can't give a straight answer without seeing the PC in action.

  • G72-B60US

Is there a good replacement wireless network card that fits into my HP G72-B60US laptop.  The Broadcom 4313GN wireless card that came with it will only do 72Mbps tops.  If I plug in a Netgear A6200 USB adapter, the speed goes up to 144Mbps.  I'd like to replace the Broadcom card with an Intel AC network adapter if possible.  I am purchasing a Dual Band router to replace my present Dlink router that has only 100Mbps capacity.

  • Toshiba Thrive Tablet Broken Headphone Jack Fix For Audio Line Out

BROKEN HEADPHONE JACK SIMPLE FIX FOR TOSHIBA THRIVE TABLET:
I love my Toshiba Thrive tablet. I take it with me everywhere I go, nearly every day. I also enjoyed connecting the headphone output jack on the side to an external set of speakers. I would enjoy stereo internet, video watching and so on. I recently broke (cracked) the headphone jack on accident. For months, I heard only through the small, factory installed speakers which, is not quite what I'd call 'ideal stereo.' Has anyone else done this? Despite trying to find repair shops locally, no one will touch a tablet it seems for repair or replacement parts. It's not your usual headphone jack. But - I can tell you how to get your sound back!
    THE QUICK FIX
While browsing the internet, I found a device that by-passes the headphone jack and instead uses the internal workings of the Thrive tablet's main connection port. This port is located at the base of the unit. It will be covered by a protective, plastic tab that is removeable. Simply pry a little. This long narrow port was designed to allow you to set the entire Thrive tablet into a docking station designed for it. In this docking station are various connection pins that allow the audio to be sent out of the tablet and into the docking station. At the rear of the docking station you'll find a host of connection types:  1) audio out jack/headphone 2) USB 3) HDMI 4) 110v power supply. Simply plug your speakers or headphone cable into the new docking station and you're done! Your audio will work again. I purchased my docking station for $6.00 on Ebay.  Oddly, the unit doesn't charge very well if at all while in the docking station but I've read you can simply remove the cover from your Thrive, remove the battery physically for a few minutes, return it to it's rightful place then close the cover and this fixes the problem. It's a strange little glitche. I have yet to try this yet. I did find that if I plug the cord directly into the Thrive right side as designed, it will recharge the battery as usual. I ordered a few of these docking stations which allow me to simply set the pad down depending on where I am and it will continue to charge. The docks do not come with power outlet so you'll need to consider buying additional but it works wonderfully. There are now even wireless docking stations too!

  • Bluetooth broken? I have a fix.

Bluetooth is still broken in version 4.0.0.19550.  Not surprising.  Thankfully, unlike previous versions of Skype, there is a way to make Skype THINK it's a professional app in this version!  You heard it here first, folks!  The Skype Gods really have been listening to our prayers, and bestowed upon us a version of Skype that--while still broken--is slightly less broken than previous versions!  Glorious day!  As a consumer, I am humbled to know that the developers not only listen to us, but recognize and fix the problems we find for them!
Alright, so, let's get this started, shall we?  How do you get your Bluetooth headset working on your Skype phone, and why isn't your phone/headset working properly?
I'll tell you now, that it's probably got more to do with Skype than whatever ROM/kernel you're running. I tried this on my stock 4.2.2 Nexus 4, and on CM10.1 stable, running Franco's Kernel r151, and a Nexus 7 that's been through so many different ROMs and kernels, I couldn't begin to tell you. The headset I'm using is the LG HBS730, which has served me well in all tasks on my phone other than Skype for Android. This is a long-standing problem I've had with Skype; the conspiracy theorist inside of me wants to believe it's because Microsoft wants to push their Windows phones by purposefully making their Android client stink, but the realist in me hopes that's not true (what with the wide range of Android hardware that the Skype Client would have to support).
Okay, to get the headset working, I've done the following.
    1. Make sure your headset's paired.  And, before you start skype, turn your bluetooth headset off and wait until it disconnects.
    2. I turn my phone's Bluetooth off and on again. Do not reconnnect the headset yet.
    3. Sign into Skype (I'm using the version that was updated on July 10, 2013 (version 4.0.0.19550).
    4. Join the call that your friend(s) are in. You will start to hear them over your phone's loudspeaker or the regular speaker.
    5. Turn your Bluetooth headset on, wait for it to connect. When it connects, Skype should automatically recognize it, and start using both the mic and the earphones on the headset, and you should be able to talk normally.  You will notice the Bluetooth icon has now appeared in place of the loudspeaker icon.
Here are some things that will annoy you, though:
When you get a regular phone call, the Skype call will be put on hold. When you end the phone call and try to rejoin the Skype call, Skype will still see the headset as connected, but will continue to use the phone's speaker and microphone.
This is going to happen a lot, and here's how to fix that:
    1. Leave the call, and sign out.
    2. Close the app from the little task manager thingy (If it's a Galaxy SIII, just hold the home button and swipe it away).
    3. Disconnect the Bluetooth headset. You can turn your bluetooth on your phone on and off again real quick if you think that helps--I have yet to determine if it does.
    4. Sign back into Skype, and join the call.
    5. Turn your headset back on again, and Skype should connect to the headset.
5b. Sometimes, the bluetooth icon will appear active, but you will get sound from the phone and it will be using your phone's built-in mic.  Start from step 1 if this happens.
Sadly, for some bizarre reason, I have not been able to connect my headset to my phone, and sign into Skype with the expectation that anything will work, at all. I wish it weren't so complicated, but it is.
Oh, and FYI, don't bother with Skype premium. Group video doesn't work on Android phones OR Windows phones (even from Windows desktop to Windows phone, my friend and I tested; way to sell broken services, Microsoft!), so if you're on-the-go a lot, it's a total waste of money. Also, if you're bike riding, you're probably just going to anger off your friends in the Skype call with all the ambient noise. The mute feature on my headset is not recognized by Skype, so I have to dig my phone out of my pocket to mute it from the screen, but since Bluetooth headsets don't work at all on Skype for Android, I'm not going to hold the muting thing against them.
I hope this helps, but more than that, I hope that one day, Microsoft will restore my faith in Skype. But considering it took them this long to revise their app to the point where Bluetooth even pretends to work, I'm not crossing my fingers.  Exhausted from the endless consumer-abuse, I'm looking for alternatives.
    Hope this helps, 'fellas.
    Gaius C.

Hmmm.. thinking the conspiracy theory of Microsoft nobling Android to sell their own phone operating sys is a good one as I can see no reason why Skype have not fixed this long standing, and very important issue. I have tried various versions of Android on various phones and headsets, the problem seems to be with all, only common factor, Skype on Android. I have seen no official response from Skype on any of the multiple forum threads discussing this problem. All I can say, in my opinion, is Skype is the problem, not an Android one, it's on your doorstep! Plantronics, who have supplied me most headsets, can only offer the advice that it worked fine on Skype Ver 2, and not worked properly since (when did Microsoft buy Skype?). I pay Skype for a service but they are leaving me with no alternative but to vote with my feet, Viber works and I think I need to start looking at all alternatives. Maybe I should look at Linux on the PC too!

  • How can I safely get a broken-off head phone jack out of the receptacle?

The head phone jack broke off in the iPad. It is too far down to remove with tweezers. Any suggestions on how to get it out safely? I sent it to the company and was told that unless I fixed the dent on the corner and scratches to the charging base at a cost of $255, they could not fix it. So now I am trying to figure out how to get it out myself.
    Thank you for your help,
    Karen

Use super-glue on the tip of a jeweller screwdriver (tiny screwdriver) to extract the phone jack.

  • 3.5 MM Mini jack fix?

Here's the problem...several of my Powermacs in my classroom have damaged mini headphone jacks (from constant plugging and unplugging of headphones/overly aggressive students, etc.).
How would I go about fixing/replacing/alternate solutions? Maybe an inexpensive card I could drop in?
I teach TV/Video Production and it can get pretty loud/annoying without headphones.

  • How can I get my iPod headphone jack fixed?

I am having issues where I can only hear out of one side of the headphones.  I have tried several different headphones and know the problems is not with them it has to be something with the iPod part where the headphones get plugged in.   Any help is appreciated.

    HI debooz09
you should give to a apple store and tell them here's the apple price http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/ OR just search it on google or on youtube to get more ideas to fix the headphone jack.

  • My podcast was broken, but now it's fixed...iTunes still hasn't updated it

I had a broken xml file, that I thoroughly checked and fixed and iTunes still hasn't validated it and fixed it.
    The podcast link is www.tetrazoid.com/podcast.xml
And feedvalidator says there is something wrong with my </item> tag...which makes absolutely no sense.

At the end of your 'item' section you have an <itunes:explicit> tag which is not closed. This is mucking up the logic of the tags and invalidating the xml.
You should either delete the tag, or have one of the following:
    <itunes:explicit>yes</itunes:explicit>
    <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>
    <itunes:explicit>clean</itunes:explicit>
if you have any strong language or sexual content you must use the 'yes' version to avoid rejection.

  • Sup Wermonitor is broken - Lenovo Please Answer and FIx

I have had an X230 for 18 months. I am on the third build using your recovery DVD's.
Sup Wermonitor is broken. It "stopped working" after Settings Dependency updated itself to V2.2.0.28.
Three of these errors yesterday in the space of 30 minutes (yes I restarted) and more before yesterday.
    I want Sup Wermonitor:
Fixed if you are able to or
Uninstalled if you are not able to.
This is Lenovo software. I have asked this question before and it  has fallen on deaf ears.
The overall reliability of Windows 8 on this machine over an 18 month period is 1 out of 10. This compares to Windows 7 on a Lenovo machine of 9.5 or better out of 10.
    Thank you.

I called Lenovo tech support today about the same issue (which started about a week ago, each time I start the machine, which was purchased 2 months ago.
I have Windows 7 on a Lenovo ThinkCentre M93p SFF Pro Desktop - Intel Core i7-4770, 8GB, 1TB 7200 SATA, NVIDIA Geforce GT 620 Graphics.
Upon starting my machine (purchase a few months ago) sup_wermonitor.exe crashes, and VS 2013 offer to debug the problem indicating it is a FileNotFoundException issue. Here is a link to the image of the dialog:
    http://screencast.com/t/tRsyEzqe
The tech support lady claimed they've never seen any tech support issues related to that file and that she has no way to check if it's a Lenovo file.
She tried to use another Lenovo utility on my machine called System Update and that utility also crashed.
She claimed she can't research the issue to find a solution and suggested I go back to a previous restore point or re-image my machine.  I think that's a rather blunt approach (does not find the real problem, does not solve the issue, but allows Lenovo to quickly claim the issue was closed).
In any case, can the Original Poster share with us:
    1. How did you get rid of the error?
    2. Is System Update utility working for you?
And if someone within Lenovo is listening:
    1. Is sup_wermonitor.exe a Lenovo file?
    2. Does it play a role in the Lenovo's System Update utility?
    3. what can explain/fix the error message?
